Well my life is kinda crazy right now so these changes might be implemented in 2 months or maybe in 12 months. I'm not exactly sure yet. But my skills with PHP and MySql have increased considerably thanks to long hours of study and painful learning and I'd like to put them to the test. I've already included nice comment forms in two websites of mine and I've developed a Beta member signup system. The member system is very basic. It basically works like this:
*You can sign up and then an activation email is sent to you
*You are asked to click the link in the email and then you can set up profile information such as your birth date and bio
*In your control panel, you can change your password or the info in your account
It may seem basic, but it took about 25 hours for me to create since I'm still VERY slow at coding PHP and MySql securely (and I had to do a fair amount of research too). I plan to have the ability for members to upload photos into a photo album (that I would obviously have to create and code from scratch) and I plan to link it all to a mini forum. The only problem is, I have no idea how to do a PHP file upload securely. I don't want people gaining access to my root and being able to delete files and such. That would NOT be a good thing.
Of course, the members could also create their own accounts for uploading fanart and fanfiction. Another thing that I plan to implement is the ability for fanartists and fanfic authors to subscribe to emails so they would get a notification whenever someone comments on their works. That would be so awesome.
In addition to this, I also plan to work on my SEO for TheLandBeforeTime.org as well. It already has a PageRank of 3 (whooo!), but it certainly doesn't land anywhere near the first page when you just type in "The Land Before Time" (without quotes) into Google. I plan to change that.
Unfortunately, all this takes time...a TON of time. Time I just don't have at the moment. I've really got to work on my computer repair website, as it's a new site and is my livelihood on the line here. It currently has a PageRank of zero and is on page 6 when you type in "minnesota computer repair" or "computer repair minnesota" (without quotes). First it was on page 32, then it was on 25, then on 22, then on 18, then it jumped all the way to 8, then it went to 7, and now it's finally on page 6. I've really got to get it up there. If I don't, my business might crash. Having to change my phone number when I moved to Maple Grove from Maplewood really screwed me. I lost all my clientele from the first 8 months I spent in Minnesota.
