Gamers Zone / Virtual Handheld, and Other 3DS news!
« on: September 29, 2010, 01:44:26 AM »
There's a Nintendo Media Summit going on as I type this, and they've just confirmed that a Virtual Console-like service for 3DS will bring Game Boy and Game Boy Color games to the system, including 3D support (probably something as basic as a 2D layered effect, where the background layer will shrink into the distance, the foreground will appear closer, and the main interactive layer will be sandwiched in the middle)

The 3D camera can take a photo of your face and use it to automatically make a Mii.

3rd party support is a big focus for the system.

3DS will launch in February in Japan, March in the U.S. and Europe. System will cost 25,000 Yen, no word on prices outside of Japan.

Gamers Zone / Duke Nukem Forever is... Complete?!
« on: September 03, 2010, 05:45:55 PM »
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/111/1118087p1.html

According to this, not only did Gearbox take over development, they've actually finished the damn thing (with the game to still undergo some fine-tuning, bug testing, etc)

Any real gamer knows how strange it is to say, but according to Gearbox, we'll be playing Duke Nukem Forever next year. Wow.

Computer and Electronics / So I've installed Windows 7, but...
« on: November 22, 2009, 07:27:02 PM »
I upgraded from XP. Now, I was led to believe that this would wipe the drive clean, and then install 7, so I should back up my files. I did. But now, as I sit here, my drive is just as full as it was before the upgrade. Seems that the old XP install, rather than being deleted, was simply moved to a folder called Windows.old.

So why was I told to back up my files? Did I do something wrong? Can I clear up the 100+ gigabytes again by simply deleting this folder? What do I do? Help, I've only got 2 GBs left! :|

Computer and Electronics / Question concerning my motherboard.
« on: November 13, 2009, 01:51:27 AM »
So I'm looking to install the 64-bit version of Windows 7 soon. After checking Nvidia's website, there doesn't seem to be a listing for nForce 410 drivers for Windows 7 64-bit (or 32-bit, for that matter)

Does this mean anything? Do I need special drivers for the motherboard to take advantage of a 64-bit OS? Or does it not matter?

http://www.mndaily.com/blogs/tech-corner/2...-windows-7-year

Interesting. First the beta, and now this. I don't usually pay attention to what a new operating system goes through before release, but it seems Microsoft really wants to get this one right. Looks like they payed attention to the complaints about Vista.

Computer and Electronics / Small diver issue.
« on: April 18, 2009, 09:51:35 AM »
So basically, I'm trying to use my Dualshock 3 controller on my PC. I plug it in, and it recognizes it as a standard HID-compliant game controller. I go to find drivers for the thing, and try to install them. My machine tells me that a newer driver is already installed. But it doesn't recognize any input, so I have to install these drivers.

I tell it to uninstall the current drivers, re-plug the controller, and wait for the new hardware wizard to pop up. It doesn't. I go back to the device manager, and look at the driver details for the controller, and it tells me that no drivers are required.

So basically, it won't let me install these drivers.  Well, it's a Windows 7 machine, I figure it's just an incompatibility issue. Everyone else who tested the drivers was using XP SP3 anyway.

So I boot up XP and immediately run into the same issue. Why? What is this crap, and how do I get around it?

Sound Off! / So Metallica re-released two albums on vinyl...
« on: April 20, 2008, 07:17:05 PM »
Kill 'em All and Ride the Lightning have been re-released on vinyl, on 33 1/3 rpm, $16,  and deluxe versions at 45 rpm, $28.

What does this mean, what's the difference, is the deluxe worth the extra $12, should I just stick to the CDs, etc.

1988 Theatrical Release / Land Before Time sighting on schedules!
« on: February 23, 2008, 04:30:02 AM »
http://schedule.cartoonnetwork.com/xmlServ...me&timezone=EST

Monday the 25th, @ 10:30a.

http://directv.com/DTVAPP/epg/theGuide.jsp

Channel 296. It's there.

Good news for those of us who don't own the DVD/VHS.

Okay, so anyone who's been keeping up with the schedule on CN's website hasn't been seeing anything on the LBT front for a long while now. But, hold on to your hats, they're airing Spooky Nighttime Adventure and The Lone Dinosaur Returns on the 7th and 8th of January, respectively.

http://schedule.cartoonnetwork.com/xmlServ...me&timezone=EST

Now, after holding off on airing anything, even reruns, for the past few months, then dropping this on us from nowhere,(which has happened before) , you have to wonder: "What the HELL is going through the minds of the people over at the Cartoon Network?" Sadly, the answer is probably "Not a damn thing". Let's hope they wise up and put the series on a stable timeslot.

Maaaaaaan, I can't decide, maaaaan.

Sony MDR-XD300s, or Sennheiser DJ-Style HD202s?

I mean, the Sennheisers are cheaper, but I noticed this in the review section for the Sonys:

Quote
Can block about 25Db of noise even though they are not "noise canceling."
That sounds pretty handy-dandy, especially since I mostly use headphones in the car.

Then there's the part where I've never used a Sennheiser product before. Are they any good?

I DUNNO!
Anybody gotz tha info?(or something like that) Help, yo!

http://schedule.cartoonnetwork.com/xmlServ...me&timezone=EST

When the hell did this happen?! Did I miss some thing while I was on vacation, or is this just starting?!

Is CN really planning on airing episodes BEYOND the first 12?!

Good God, I think the world is ending!!

The Fridge / In Mexico for a while.
« on: July 27, 2007, 12:41:54 PM »
¥Kay, so I went to Mexico last week, but Harry Potter spoilers were popping up faster than I expected, so I didn¥t get a chance to post about it, as I had decided to stay off until I read the book.

Gonna be in Mexico until the 16th of August, which will limit my time here, as I have to sneak on when nobody¥s around.

If there¥s any news concerning the series or the forums, It¥d be great if you guys could post it in this topic, so I wouldn¥t spend too much of my precious little time searching the forums for it.

Got to go now, hope you¥re all well, I¥ll visit again soon as possible, etc. etc.

General Land Before Time / Sequel songs: Rate and/or Review!
« on: June 19, 2007, 08:10:11 AM »
Since the songs are an important part of the sequels, I thought I'd rate them. Join in if you want.

Feel free to rate or review(or both) whichever songs from whichever sequels in whichever style you like. Feel free also to start small and add to your posts as you go along.

I've personally chosen to simply rate the songs for now. I'll probably add in comments later. And just were clear, the scoring system I've chosen for myself is a 21-point system: 0-10, half points in between.
