On two different websites I'm seeing a reference to a "microphone with a pole" that supposedly appear in a shot of "It Takes All Sorts" from LBT 4.

Quote from: TV Tropes
Visible Boom Mic: In the fourth film there is a visible microphone on a pole when Cera and Ali sing in the song, "It Takes All Sorts."

Quote from: Land Before Time wiki
In "It Takes All Sorts", a microphone with a pole is shown in one shot, despite the fact that this film is just animated. This might have been an inside joke with an animators.

Well I've reviewed that song and I can't see one anywhere! Am I blind, or are both websites wrong? Or maybe it only appears in older edition of the film? (I watched the free online version on Amazon Prime video)

What? O_o Binoculars first, then microphone???
Where is it said?
*checks internet. maybe checks LBT4 either.*

Edit: lol, I read "microscope" instead of "microphone" at first. XD

Funny as I don't think there was a microphone in any version of the film or a pair of binoculars. :thinking It would have been so unfitting.  :ChomperOhhh I think I remember Ichy using his wings to look out, curling them like binoculars, but not actually using any. If someone manages to get a screenshot to contradict this, I'd be amazed.  :taunttroll

O_O
wtsh????

ok, I don't know WHAT exactly it is, but as stated on this page, there's something in two scenes, where screenshots were taken from:
https://landbeforetime.fandom.com/wiki/It_Takes_All_Sorts
and after watching several copies of LBT 4, I can confirm there's some object, attached to left border of the screen. It definitelly not some background object, like branch, since it moves together with camera. Yeah, animators could left it on purpose. XD

So osom to find new stuff in your favorite movies after decades!!! ^^

(binoculars can be found only on film cover, fyi)

It could be for the Land Before Time Sing Along Songs edition of “All Sorts.” A prompt to let people know its time to karaoke.

This strange object appears  once in scene outside "All Sorts." as well. So I doubt it is related to any song.

That's so weird, I can now confirm those are not present in the Amazon streaming version of the movie. I'm not completely convinced it's a mic, but I wish I had a way to see them in motion because it sounds like its stilted movement is the main reason people don't think it's a branch.

If it is a Microphone that is the weirdest looking mic I have ever seen.

Actually looking at it closer that might be a animation bug. Also if they removed it on the remastered version that probably means it wasn't intentional.

@aabicus (LettuceBacon&Tomato)
*randomly search in internet*
you can watch it in motion here, for example:

https://kisscartoon.sh/Cartoon/The-Land-Before-Time-IV-Journey-Through-the-Mists.90619/Movie?id=26991&s=oserver
51:45 and 53:45

(amazon version is newest version, where they stupidly redrew some key objects from blue to orange and yellow, like Night Flowers and Stone of Cold Fire, am I correct? :D)

Yeah. It's also the version that is included in the complete collection DVD pack. Only 1-5 are remastered though. For some reason the rest of them are old versions except for XII and XIII which have been put into widescreen.

I mean, I can see how it would superficially look like a very small boom mic, but that ain't a boom mic. My best guess would be some kind of little paperclip type thing, maybe used to hold the cels to something? I can see why people think it's a little creepy. It's weird, but not unheard of for stuff like that to not be caught during production, especially if the budget was low and the deadline was rapidly approaching. Though, the movement is rather unnatural to have just been shifted between filming cels. Weird.

Unless it was explicitly pointed out, I never would have noticed this. Might be a hot take, but IV is among my least favorite sequels, so I haven't watched it nearly enough to notice little things like that. It's interesting though, and I wonder if anyone who worked on the movie would know.

Hmm, that's a interesting theory.  :thinking That makes sense, espically since I guess the quality control would be less than a theatrical film.

Also, I just realized the binoculars do exist.
