I wonder what will be in the 20th anniversary of LBT by 2008. I hope they release it in the UK as well. I hate it the last time in 1998 when they didn't do such a thing :cry I wanted it to add to our collection...

I wonder if there will even be such a thing as a 20th Anniversary edition. Is there any official information that Universals does have such plans at all?
-
That is still four years away, malte. I highly doubt ANy plans have been made THAT ahead of time. :lol
-
This isn't going to be predictable for a while yet. Isn't this similar to the topic I had started a long time ago?
-
Yep.
-
Then why is there a new one? <_<
-
No, I'm saying its similar to a post you made.
-
Actually it's exactly the same, because I asked what would you like to see in an anniversary edition and Threehorn is asking the same thing....what will be in the next anniversary edition? The thing is nobody can answer his question and we're all saying what we want to see in it (and that was posted in mine).
-
I wish I could get hold of the 10th anniversary. It the only thing I haven't got to my collection... but I wonder when LBT 1 - 7 will be out on DVD in the UK. I know Europe has it now.

^ For all I know there never was something like a 10th anniversary eddition. The DvDs of LBT 1 to 7 are out in Germany, but apart from the possibility to choose between languages there is not much more. Only the kind of games that are supposed to teach us how to count up to ten or to tell a square from a triangular. :(
-
Pheh, the so called "anniversary edition" was a joke--absolutely nothing in terms of special features. It's no different from the "normal" edition I have on dvd.
-
Unless you're Disney, 10th anniversary eidtions are meaningless.
-
Heh yeah and then they charge something on the lines of $25 for a dvd of it.
-
Like a special Edition of "The Lan Before Time" wouldn't cost that much? :p
-
Those special editions of Disney dvd films (i.e. The Fox and the Hound is one I really want) have just the film and no real extras and yet the charge you $25 because it's part of a "gold collection".... <_<
-
What? I was actually talking more along the lines of "The Lion King Special Two-Disc Edition and the "Mulan" one and such.
I'm sure they'll have a nice speical DVD for "The Fox and the Hound". I still think its funny that Kurt Russell was Adult Topper, but I don't know why.
-
Sounds like you had rip offs in the past.

I doubt we'll see anything special for LBT's 20th! Failing that, a silver anni (25 years) probably still wont be that special. I doubt there will be any special features like "Behind the scenes" or "the making of..." coz I bet they didn't even think of filming themselves whilst working on it (bearing in mind that this was 16 years ago). Deleted scenes would be nice since quite a few of them were actually in the LBT movie trailer but not in the film. Also, I keep having the thought that the end credits song, If We Hold On Together, perhaps had a music video. In the UK, it wasnt a no.1 (sadly) but I distictly remember seeing a music video when it was played on a music show we have over here called "Top of the Pops". I might try finding it but I imagine it will be scarce...
-
Well whatever happens still like to see LBT go on for a long time.
-Threehorn
-
I don't think they'd have behind the scenes either but a directors cut (with Don or Gary) you know would satisfy me enough. :)
-
I have a special extended edition of Disney's Dinosuar. It really does contain some interesting stuff, but they could have done much better. For example there are quite a few scenes which suggest that there were totally alternative versions of the plot (some involving a brother of Aladar, others his grandparents and others a mysterous character called Gantamo or something like that). I would have loved to know about these alternative story ideas.
-
Me, too. :D
-
I got the DVD of Dinosaurs but don't know about this special edtion thou...
-Threehorn
-
Hmm.
-
Is the special one have two discs???
-Threehorn
-
I haven't seen the special one yet.
-
Hi!
Yes, the special edition does have two DvDs, one of which is exclusively for making off films, outcut scenes and the like. As I said it was interesting, but a little too "unconnected". I would have loved to know the storylines behind the other outcut scenes on the bonus material DvD.
-
I wish I had that one. But I know it going to be hard to get one now in the UK
-Threehorn
-
Try ebay or Amazon. It should be very easy to get the special edition there.
-
I will have a look.

I always feel so wasteful buying more than one copy of a film I already own, even if there is stuff that wasn't there before. Oh well. Such is the life of a consumer. :lol
-
I like the real ones to copied ones.
-Threehorn
-
So what if you own two copies of a dvd if one has something you really enjoy? :p I have two copies of Watership Down - the Warner Brothers release in the U.S (which has nothing but the film) and the Blue Sky, Australia release that has the directors cut where it is explained how the film was made. :)
If LBT would do that, I'd have two copies of LBT too. I don't feel wasteful because that second one with the directors cut is practically a different "film". ;)
-
I mean the prirate copies. they not as good as the real thing because you don't get all the little stuff that good to watch. I always like the real ones not always those blasted prirate copies.
-Threehorn
-
I don't watch pirated copies, nor do buy them. You put people's jobs on theline when you do that.
-
I've bought pirated copies without knowing they were so. :p They still played just fine, so I didn't make a big fuss about it.
-
Hopefully for the 20th anniversary they might do an interview with some of the voice actors, and maybe a tribute for Judith Barsi, who was murdered the same year the original movie was released. :cry
-
1. despite the fact that they threw away the lost footage, they should at least bring back one of the artists and redo the storyboards of the lost scenes, and have a brief explanation of what they were about.
2. Despite Donn Bluth's disappointments about the project, he should at least have a few good words to say, as well as the original voices (who are still alive)
3. And yes.. a tribute to Judith Barsi... may she rest in peace -_-
-
Agreed. May she rest in peace.
-
All good things to hope for those are, but, if it is made, it will most likely be a repeat of the "15th Anniversary Edition." -_-
-
Wow..who bumped the three year old topic? :P: funny how we still don't know if they'll even do one.

Let's see... you're last post was on November 14, 2004, 06:43 AM, and the post after that is lbt/cty_lover's post on November 28 2007, 02:06 PM. Unless that was a rhetorical question. :P:

*sighs* do they even know we true fans want one?
do they even know that we truly exists?
What I would give to have a fancy 2 disk collectors edition of the original Land Before Time, the case with a fancy platinum outline and the original cover painting placed into one of those little holographic view cards. And included with the box collector's edition, a realistic bust of Littlefoot looking glumly into his treestar.
Loads of commentary and behind the scene studio work of how the artists worked tirelessly hours upon hours to make the movie we all know and love
And a feature of James Horner composing his fine musical talent with that massive orchestra and a view screen displaying the part of the movie they're orchestrating
this my friend.. is an item we may never see.... possibly due to the lack of faith and desire from the original creators.
Disney did it with Bambi, why cant Bluth and crew do it for The Land Before Time?
-
Maybe we need to picket their offices. :lol
Or send huge masses of mail. That is if they even care about doing such a thing.
