Sharptooth Tournament

So, I made something a little fun. It's a voter style Tournament for the Sharpteeth of The Land Before Time.

Now, as I said, it will be determined by voting. It'll be traditional style. In fact, I found we have 32 participants. This does not include the ones that randomly pop-up sometimes. This will get interesting.

If you have questions about which ones are which, please feel free to ask.

I don't know if this was random, but I think most of the beginning match-ups turned out pretty well. Each Sharptooth has where they premiered next to their name.

Now, each round will be done in Strawpoll for easy access. Each round will last one week and you can vote on all the match-ups you want. You can only vote once per match-up. So choose carefully. I'll be back every Tuesday with the results.

This week will be the most match-ups, but it should be much shorter after that.

One bad thing - me personally don't know any "scientific names" of LBT characters. Like, I remember gray sharptotoh from LBT10, but don't know who "Sarcosuchus" from the same movie is.

Have to check Wiki and LBT Wiki to make correct votes.

I guess I could have used "Belly Dragger" instead. Yes, the one that tried to eat Littlefoot. Was attacked by Sue. Then tried to eat Cera and the rest of the gang. Nearly eats Petrie. Then, thanks to Cera, it gets trapped under a tree. Definitely not a good few days for it.

From my own experience, there is a limit to how many you can do in a day before you have to start clicking on pictures. I can't remember what the limit is, but I knew this amount might have this problem.

I think once we get down to 8 matchups left, it won't be a problem, but I'm not sure.

It's one of it's fail safes to ensure there isn't any bot voting. I apologize, but there's little I can do.

Scarred Sharptooth is from LBT 13. It's the one among the pack of 4 that has a scar.

And yes, paired up with Useless Sharptooth, the one who's Showcase it is this month. I blame the forum for giving him that name. Fully.

This is right up my alley

However, just one little thing I noticed. All of the aquatic or semi-aquatic sharpteeth seem to be facing land sharpteeth in the first round. I think it would have been a little better to start off by putting the sharpteeth that live within the same element (for example, Dil vs the sharptooth swimmer from the ninth film) instead of Dil vs . But that's only a nitpick. This is a great idea and it'll be interesting to see how things play out (obviously we know the winner

, but we don't exactly know what the road to the end will look like yet).

This'll be long, but at least it won't be as long after this round. It's fine, since I don't have much to do at the moment anyway.

First Round

Sharptooth Tournament A: Sharptooth himself stomps over the random VI rex. I shouldn't even have to explain this one.

Sharptooth Tournament B: The gray sharptooth was quite pathetic in my opinion, in fact, he is the worst of the three T. rex to appear in X. Why? Because he tripped over Shorty instead of squashing him. I think the Belly Dragger has the advantage, and would likely pull him into the water.

Sharptooth Tournament C: This was a tough one. Ultimately, I think the fifth film's sharptooth wins this. He's average speed but a good fighter, as shown when he manages to hold off both of Chomper's parents for a while. The Carnotaurus is fast but I don't think he would be able to contend with this guy.

Sharptooth Tournament D: Now I know Red Claw has been quite pathetic during his appearances, but I think he can handle this shark from the shallows. It isn't particularly massive - compared to the kids, the shark is more like a great white than a megalodon, so I think that Red Claw should be able to pull it off.

Sharptooth Tournament E: Dil alone doesn't stand a chance against just about any sharptooth... because of her bad vision.

Sharptooth Tournament F: The Sailback sharptooth in XII is similar in size over the Meanest sharptooth, but faster. Meanwhile, the meanest sharptooth is fairly slow. I think the sailback has this one.

Sharptooth Tournament G: Three VII raptors killed a whole herd of adult dinosaurs, while the XI ones didn't stand a chance. I think you know which is superior.

Sharptooth Tournament H: These raptors are scary and durable as hell. I think they would come out on top.

Sharptooth Tournament I: The TV series Belly Draggers are pretty pathetic and not very fast. Papa Sharptooth would rip one apart.

Sharptooth Tournament J: This one could go either way. Both T. rex are evenly matched in my book. I'll go with the Mountain Sharptooth I guess since he seemed a bit faster and slightly scarier.

Sharptooth Tournament K: Neither the Useless Sharptooth nor the Scarred Sharptooth are particularly special, so it's a close one. I'll give it to the Useless Sharptooth, since Allosaurus is my favorite dinosaur after all.

Sharptooth Tournament L: "Mmmm," says Thud, "yummy bird".

Sharptooth Tournament M: I like Screech more than Thud, but he's dead meat here. Giant predatory plesiosaurs are not to be taken lightly.

Sharptooth Tournament N: The Featherhead Sharptooth would eventually snatch up the flyer.

Sharptooth Tournament O: I don't think the orange-brown sharptooth would be able to stop the huge sharptooth swimmer.

Sharptooth Tournament P: Creatures with a posture like Dimetrodon don't have much of a chance against bipeds like Mama Sharptooth...

He was one of the ones I chose to leave out. There was over 40 before I made cuts. I started with the ones that had zero interaction with the gang, (Mainly those who only showed up in the opening scene of the movies.) then deciding whom to cut out from there. I see Chomper as a main part of the gang and chose to not have him in the tournament based on that alone. I mainly focused on those that tried to EAT the gang.

Today is the last day before we move on to Round 2. I'll be ending it the moment I wake up tomorrow. (Which I will remind people is VERY early due to my work schedule.) Please get your votes in while you can!

There are definitely some close matches here and I'd hate to be the one to make the deciding vote in some of these. So, again, please vote while you can.

If you are having trouble voting, try making the votes in a New Tab. I'm not sure what you can do if that doesn't work.

Gray Sharptooth (LBT 10) vs. Sarcosuchus (LBT 10) - 0 to 5 - Sarcosuchus kills the weak Gray Sharptooth! Sarcosuchus wins!

Plated Sharptooth (LBT 5) vs. Horned Sharptooth (LBT 14) - 4 to 1 - Horned Sharptooth got a hit or two before going down to Plated Sharptooth! Plated Sharptooth wins!

Red Claw (LBT TV) vs. Shark (LBT 5) - 1 to 4 - Looks like the Shark got Red Claw! He wasn't so tough after all! Shark wins!

Dil (LBT 4) vs. Mother Sharptooth (LBT TV) - 2 to 3 - The protective mother killed off Dil! May as well have her babies eat Dil's corpse! Mother Sharptooth wins!

Sailback Sharptooth (LBT 12) vs. Meanest Sharptooth (LBT 6) - 1 to 3 - Meanest Sharptooth proves to be too tough for Sailback! Meanest Sharptooth wins!

Deinonychus (LBT 7) vs. Deinonychus (LBT 11) - 4 to 0 - The LBT 7 version proves to be better than the LBT 11 version! The LBT 7 Deinonychus wins!

Theropod (LBT TV) vs. Fast-Biter (LBT 3) - 0 to 4 - Fast-Biter easily tears Theropod's throat! Fast-Biter wins!

Papa Sharptooth (LBT 2) vs. Sarcosuchus (LBT TV) - 4 to 0 - Chomper's Dad kills off Sarcosuchus! Papa Sharptooth wins!

Green Sharptooth (LBT 10) vs. Mountain Sharptooth (LBT 8) - 1 to 3 - The Sharptooth from the Mountain proves tougher than the Green Sharptooth! Mountain Sharptooth wins!

Useless Sharptooth (LBT 6) vs. Scarred Sharptooth (LBT 13) - 3 to 1 - Useless proves to not be so useless after all! Must have re-opened the wound! Useless Sharptooth wins!

Thud (LBT TV) vs. Ichy (LBT 4) - 4 to 0 - Thud gets a snack and swallows Ichy! Thud wins!

Okay, real talk here! I had to make the deciding vote in two matchups. Those were Longneck Sharptooth (LBT 4) vs. Screech (LBT TV) and Feathered Sharptooth (LBT 14) vs. Sharptooth Flyer (LBT 5). My reasoning for both was whom I thought had more of an advantage against their opponent. Please don't get too upset if your choice lost in those matchups. I did what needed to be done for the tournament to continue.

With that out of the way, most of whom I thought would win won. The exception was Useless Sharptooth. After all, I have zero sympathy for him. I guess my bias got in the way there. Oh well!

Now, on to the Round 2 matchups!

Round 2

Sharptooth Tournament 2A: Sharptooth has experience with swamps already. A belly dragger isn’t going to stop his path of carnage.

Sharptooth Tournament 2B: Assuming this is in shallow water so that the land opponent can stand, the Plated Sharptooth should have this. Once again, this shark isn’t a megalodon. If he is, then he’s only a juvenile individual.

Sharptooth Tournament 2C: The meanest Sharptooth shouldn’t have a problem in this fight. Bye Mother.

Sharptooth Tournament 2D: The LBT 7 raptors are by far the most dangerous raptors. A trio killed a whole herd; meanwhile, four LBT 3 had trouble battling the adults. One of them even died early on.

Sharptooth Tournament 2E: Papa Sharptooth was able to stop the Plated Sharptooth, yet the Mountain Sharptooth couldn’t beat a snowball. It should be obvious as to who is the victor here.

Sharptooth Tournament 2F: Sorry Thud, I think you’re just too small to contend with large theropods, even ones like the Allosaurus.

Sharptooth Tournament 2G: The Longneck Sharptooth was scary as hell. Featherhead sharpteeth aren’t very strong in my opinion.

Sharptooth Tournament 2H: Mama Sharptooth doesn’t seem to be a very good fighter. I don’t think that she would beat the massive Sharptooth swimmer.

Okay, so before I get to the results, I need to clarify something.

For those who don't understand WHY the Captchas are necessary, it's because those help prevent voting multiple times to skew the results. I understand that most members at this forum will be honest, but I also understand that this is a Public Forum, meaning anyone can go on to it and vote if they wanted. Plus, if they had a petty desire to have one win, without the Captchas, they would just vote multiple times until they got the number they want. So, I'm sorry if you have problems, but the Captchas are one of the better tolls to ensure this is more fair.

Sorry I chose not to bring that up, but a part of me thought people would understand that. I guess I was wrong on that part. My apologies.

Mother Sharptooth (LBT TV) vs. Meanest Sharptooth (LBT 6) - 0 to 4 - Meanest Sharptooth earns his name by killing the Mother Sharptooth, thus leaving her defenseless babies without a parent to protect them! They'll likely meet their fate soon enough in this cruel world. Meanest Sharptooth wins!

Deinonychus (LBT 7) vs. Fast-Biter (LBT 3) - 3 to 1 - The Deinonychus from LBT 7 prove to be superior to the Fast-Biters! Deinonychus wins!

Papa Sharptooth (LBT 2) vs. Mountain Sharptooth (LBT 8) - 4 to 0 - Papa Sharptooth easily beats the Sharptooth from the mountains! Papa Sharptooth wins!

: Go Get them, Daddy!

Useless Sharptooth (LBT 6) vs. Thud (LBT TV) - 1 to 3 - Useless Sharptooth proves Useless and Thud plays it smart, going for more fatal areas to bring his bigger opponent down! Thud got a non-fatal scratch, but that's it! Thud wins!

Longneck Sharptooth (LBT 4) vs. Feathered Sharptooth (LBT 14) - 1 to 3 - Longneck Sharptooth's long neck proves to be an easy target for the Feathered Sharptooth! Feathered Sharptooth took advantage of that and decapitated the Longneck Sharptooth! Feathered Sharptooth wins!

Bad Swimmer (LBT 9) vs. Mama Sharptooth (LBT 2) - 4 to 0 - Me: Um, Chomper...

: Hmm? Me: I hate to be the one to bring you this bad news, but your mother was killed by Bad Swimmer.

Quarterfinals

Sharptooth Tournament 3A: This would not be a quick fight. The Plated Sharptooth is a fighter. However, Sharptooth is a monster. Fast, agile, AND large, Sharptooth defies the laws of gravity, which would allow him to leap at Plates and deal damage. The only thing Plates would be able to do is use his claws, but I don’t think that they would be enough to stop this bloodthirsty beast.

Sharptooth Tournament 3B: Like I’ve said before, these kinds of raptors are seemingly unstoppable. The Meanest Sharptooth just isn’t fast enough to stop these fast biters from inflicting wounds.

Sharptooth Tournament 3C: I think Thud’s championship bid ends by being gobbled up by the father of Chomper.

Sharptooth Tournament 3D: Featherhead sharpteeth are probably not good swimmers, and even if they were, I doubt that they would be able to stop such a huge marine monster.
