Seems to me like the movie is following in the footsteps of the book. It gets its fair share of haters and PO'ed parents at first, but then a couple years later, I'm betting people will look back and go on and on about how good it was. After all, the book recieved very negative reception at first and now it's considered a classic. IMO, the same thing could happen with the movie. At least, I hope so...
DarkHououon: I agree with a lot of things in that review. Although I wouldn't say the Wild Things are "depressives". More like big kids who want nothing more than endless play time. I really liked how they represented a side of Max or the people he knows. On top of that, it really isn't a movie you walk away happily from. When I left the movie, I wasn't sure how to feel. I was happy, angry, sad. I felt a lot of different ways. I think that's what Jonze was aiming for and personally, I think he did a great job. This isn't a movie for everybody and yet at the same time, it is a movie for everybody if that makes sense.
