Title: Sorry Guys
Post by: landbeforetimelover on January 23, 2008, 07:04:52 PM
Well, I couldn't get "Through the eyes of a spiketail" because my power had to be shut off when I was at school and it reset the clock on my dvd recorder to 12am. I'm sure they'll have it again.  As it is, CN is re-airing "the great egg adventure" on the 4th of February and it was just aired so I'm sure the episode I missed will air again soon.  I still can't believe it.  I didn't know mom called the electrician to come out today. -_-

Hello:
Well, don't worry, I know you'll get to see the episode soon, it is bad however to wait I bet, but I am sure there was a problem that had to be fixed. Maybe next time you may say that you have the recorder set to avoid problems ;) .

Maybe someone else got the episode and can give you a copy somehow.  If not I'm sure it'll be on again at some point eventually.

I do have my entertainment system connected to a battery operated rechargable generator, but it'll only power the system for about an hour and the power was off for longer than that. -_-  I guess it's not so useful. :(

Oh well, at least the episode will probaly air again sometime soon. After all, what are the odds of missing something twice in a row when you know it's extremely hard to miss that something? :)

By what means did you record it?
Title: Sorry Guys
Post by: The Great Valley Guardian on January 23, 2008, 10:59:42 PM
VHS....I know...so low tech...but my DVD player can't record on the TV and even if it could I didn't have a blank DVD to use...

Well, it'd be cheaper to buy a dvd recorder than to get a device capable of putting vhs recordings onto the computer. -_- Oh well.

Any way to maybe make a copy of that vhs tape and mail the copy to Landbeforetime lover, or is that a bad or silly idea?

Well, It's $200 for a device to put a vhs onto the computer and I don't have one so I'll just wait until it comes on again.  He could mail it to me, but I'd have no way to get it onto my computer, let alone my website.

Like I thought it was a pretty stupid Idea I had, sorry for mentioning it.

No, it wasn't a stupid idea Kor.  How were you to know one of those vhs transfer devices were so much money?  It's more thought that most people would have put into something like this.

There's always the "Camcorder + TV screen = digital video" technique but we all know how well that will work. :lol  :p
(Plus, camcorders are expensive)

Not sure how well this would work, but someone I used to talk to used this same technique to record some anime for me years ago.

You could try getting a DVD Recorder (I've seen some at around $75 at Walmart once) and hooking it up to the same TV as the VHS recorder, then popping in a blank disc (must be DVD-R or DVD-RW) in the DVD Recorder and putting in the VHS containing the episode in the VHS Player. Then you can press play on the VHS Player a little before the start of the episode, and then on the DVD Recorder, press record.

If done right it should record the episode on the blank DVD.

I hope I didn't confuse anyone. ^^;

Sounds like that would work.  Though the image may not be as good as direct to dvd, I'm sure it doesn't matter as I"m sure most, if not everyone, here will eventually get the tv series dvd's.  I'll be ordering the first one next week.

Okay, that's good.  How large is the file?  Driveway.com will allow you to upload up to a 500mb and there are even some sites out there that will allow you to upload up to 2gb files.

The files come out to a total of 1GB and 488MB. The DVD-Recorder automatically splits the file when it reaches 1GB. I had recorded it on the highest setting to give people the highest quality picture, although in retrospect it probably would've been better to go lower and have a smaller file size =\ I have a video file joiner-spliter so I can put them together, although if you have a program to do that it's better if I give them split up for you. As it is, I may have to split the first file just to send it...

I apologize, I'm not used to recording files for sharing XD I'll upload these to a file sender tonight and PM you the links. However, I might not be able to get you all of them until tomorrow morning because I suspect they'll take a while to upload =\

I'm sure Landbeforetimelover would not mind waiting a few days as apposed to however long it will be till the episode comes up again on cartoon network.  Funny, I was going to suggest maybe cutting the episode for Landbeforetimelover, but wasn't sure either, or both, of you had the program to cut/join video files.
Title: Sorry Guys
Post by: landbeforetimelover on January 25, 2008, 10:19:04 AM
It depends if you cut the video right.  If you don't cut it right, I can't join it.  Stick away from easy video splitter and WMM.  I personally use ulead multimedia studio pro 8, but that program is expensive.  And I know how you want good quality.  When I record an ep on DVD, it's over 4gb. :o

Now, try using a dvd ripper to get the file down to 700mb.  Then you can split it and send me the AVI's.  I can join them and super compress the video them to 50mb.  Cutting out the commercials will save space, but if you don't want to, I'll do it.

I actually cut out the commercials when I recorded it on my DVD Recorder off my DVR...although I just realized that the parts after the commercials have the DirecTV DVR time at the bottom for a couple of seconds. Is that a problem? I can re-record it if it is.

I was pretty tired last night and only this morning when I checked on the upload did I realize I forgot to convert the file from .VOB to .AVI =\ I'll have to convert it and reupload again...

I have a couple of programs that split videos. Currently I'm trying to use something that will just create parts of the file that can be easily reassembled so it's less messy to put them back together. Like a .rar or by using Easy File Splitter.

Has anyone sent the episode to landbeforetimelover yet?

ArtemisPanthar has sent me part of it, but their dvd ripper seems to be ripping the first part incorrectly.  They are working on it now.

It had some funny and a cute moment or two.  And a cameo by 2 of Ducky's sibblings, those don't happen to often.
