Random Role Play / In the land before time
« on: August 10, 2013, 04:13:57 PM »
Rob had finally made it back to the Great Valley after escorting the group out. It shouldn't have taken him so long to get back, but he was too deep in thought to walk at more than a steady pace. "All this time here, and I still feel like I don't know anything," he muttered to himself. Indeed, so much had happened since his arrival at the Great Valley. So much he never thought would be possible, and some that he thought he would never be able to get over. He continued to look down at his fastbiter claws and chuckled to himself. "Never saw this one coming." Mr. Threehorn had already veered off to attend to other matters, and Littlefoot was no doubt with his grandparents. Even though he was alone, it still felt nice to have some peace.

Role Play Discussion / Members Meeting the Characters
« on: August 09, 2013, 04:30:26 PM »
Wow, I've really not been here for a long time.

I definitely want to try and get back into this, but I'll definitely need some help.

As of now, I don't feel I can really be consistent enough to control four characters, so I'm going to allow somebody else to take Mr. Threehorn and Littlefoot. Rob and Zaine I will continue using.

I'm going to have to do a lot of reading to catch up on everything here.

Not sure if this post fits since it's not about a particular game.

Many FPS games I've played.

The way the switch to open a door is nowhere near where the door it locks is.  It's like if you want to unlock your garage or front door you have to go a few blocks down and unlock it there, then walk back to your garage or front door.
That seems to be a trend with many games. There's always a lot of backtracking once you find a switch or lever needed to open a door a few rooms away.

Jar of Hearts - Boyce Avenue ft. Tiffany Alvord.

The original is a beautiful song, but this duet adds a little more substance to it, making it more like a dialogue between two people. The two voices also blend very well together.

It's certainly better than when I was working at a grocery store, but there's always certain people that get under my skin. It's not a bad place to get experience working with people.

General Land Before Time / Seven deadly sins...
« on: August 03, 2013, 09:15:52 PM »
Honestly, I would switch Littlefoot and Chomper. Here's my reasoning why:

Littlefoot is not aggressive, in any sense of the word. When he fought back against Cera, that was more of emotions getting the best of him. It's not the first time he's let this happen, as shown in II and V when he fights with her again, but I wouldn't say he really has any wrath to be unleashed. Envy, on the other hand, is very present in his life. Look at Grandpa Longneck. Littlefoot idolizes him, and more than likely wants to be exactly like him: a true leader. He hasn't reached that point in his life yet, but he feels he will. He gives hints to this in II and XI when he resents his size. Then we look at Doc, a hero of a story his Grandpa told him. He spent the majority of VI trying to be exactly like him, even going off on his own to try and end the bad luck. Clearly, he wants to become stronger, and tries very often to prove himself in the eyes of his friends and the herd.

In Chomper's case, I really don't think he envies his friends. True he may get lonely from being the only sharptooth in the valley, but in most cases he seems pretty content with who he is. He always finds food without endangering his friends, and now he has a home of his own that he enjoys. The reason why I feel wrath better suits Chomper is because it could be possible that he fears his future. He knows that once he grows up, he can't survive on small bugs anymore, he needs to eat meat. Also, there's no way to tell that Chomper will remain the same lovable, kind-hearted sharptooth. His predator instincts could eventually take over and cause him to do terrible things that he wants to avoid. So, in a way, he's fearing a wrath that he may not be able to control.

General Land Before Time / Curing Sierra (from his behavior)
« on: August 03, 2013, 09:01:34 PM »
You know that is an interesting topic. We really know nothing about Sierra, or Rinkus for that matter. What are their backstories? When and how did they meet up with Pterano? I've always wondered what their pasts must have been like for them to behave the way they do. Maybe they both lived lives where they had to fend for themselves and then met up with each other. Maybe Sierra took Rinkus under his wing for a while, considering that Rinkus had some dimwitted moments in VII.

In response to the question at hand, I quote what Sierra said to Pterano in response to his worries for Ducky:

"So what?"

Maybe Sierra wouldn't care about his behavior. He is what he is and he doesn't feel the need to change. In a lot of way, he kind of parallels Cera with how stubborn he can be.

1988 Theatrical Release / Why Littlefoot is a good leader
« on: August 02, 2013, 10:53:38 AM »
There have been really good points made in this topic, and it is definitely a good debate to have. While I may not add too much, here are my two cents.

Littlefoot certainly displays the traits of a good leader, but he is still a kid. He makes mistakes; he lets his emotions cloud his judgment; he sometimes doesn't take responsibility for his actions whether accidental or not. It is admirable that he wants to assert himself as the leader, more than likely to emulate what he thinks Grandpa Longneck is to the herd, but at his age he hasn't had that much experience leading a group.

Now one could say that the entirety of the first movie is experience enough, after all he did lead them to the Great Valley in the end. It can also be said that even though he almost failed in keeping the group together, it was from this low point that the group was able to become closer and stronger than ever. Having said that, we really don't get much evidence from the sequels that he's learned anything from his experience finding the Great Valley. He still makes the same mistakes as he did in the first movie, because he is still just a kid.

So in my rambling, if I haven't come to a point yet, I really feel that there isn't a true leader in the sense of the word. The gang kind of jumbles back and forth with the leadership roles, and they really have formed their own mini herd.

decided to put this here too

was watching this and there was a missing scene here too

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xunZBN3YXZU

notice when the gang all hug and sleep together and how they are positioned

next scene they somehow moved and made a heart
"Cera ends up in the middle between spike and littlefoot"

scene missing : cera moving herself to the middle
my thought: she probably blush or something and didnt want to be hugged by littlefoot

 ITS AT 2:37-2:42  dino_tongue.gif
That's an interesting thought, or it could have just been a mistake on the animator's part. I could see Cera getting uncomfortable with Littlefoot hugging her like that, but because the heart is still in somewhat perfect form even with the switch I feel like that wasn't supposed to happen.

Who knows. It's all just speculation at this point.

The Welcome Center / My Return and Status Here
« on: August 02, 2013, 09:53:16 AM »
If this is in the wrong section, then I apologize and move it wherever you need it to be.

So once again, I have not been here for a very long time. I am probably sounding like a broken record right about now, and I'm sure I probably could have just updated a topic like I had done so the last four times I tried to come back. However, I don't think that would do any of you justice, and I have been giving a lot of thought about this and feel that I need to make a new topic about it.

To put it simple, my life has been very hectic as of late. I recently graduated college in May, and then immediately started back at my job at Target. At the same time, I have been looking for a full-time job because six years of retail is too much and has taken it's toll on me. While doing all of this I am currently in a community theater production of Sweeney Todd where I play the role of Pirelli. When you combine all of these things together, my summer has been incredibly busy.

Now I know there's been a few people that I have once again left hanging here, and for that I apologize. I've tried to be better at notifying when I decide to disappear, but that just hasn't been the case.

I actually have to thank Malte for sending me his PM the other day. I probably wouldn't have sat down and thought this post out if he hadn't reminded me of how much I miss being on GOF. I still can't believe how long I've been a member here, and I really wish I could be more active on here.

With this topic, I am announcing my return to GOF. Will I be anywhere near as active as I used to be? Probably not. If I get a full-time job anytime soon then that will take up a lot of my time. Will I do my best to poke in every now and then? Absolutely. How successful I will be is entirely unknown.

So once again, I hope to reconnect with everyone here on GOF, and if you are a new member I hope I get the chance to meet you.

Disney bought rights to Star Wars? Or are they just getting permission to distribute the movie and the actual rights belong to someone else?
Disney bought Lucasfilm for a little over 4 billion dollars. They pretty much own everything Star Wars related now.

At this point, Star Wars is never going away. Some interesting things could come out of it, but I'm not hoping for anything in particular.
