I'm afraid I won't be able to afford a serious pursuit of the hobby of coin collecting in addition to my other hobbies, but it is still intersting what coins can tell about or how they influenced history. Wars were fought with the amount of silver to be included in a nation's coins being on the list of casi belli.
May I ask in which of the states you live?

Very fascinating. sounds like a fine collection over all ^_^

a good tip for you, if you're looking to ever broaden your collection not by value of the coin, but the interest of designs, go for the cheap grab bags that you'd find at flea markets. Or better, find a local coin store.. they have boxes upon boxes of basic foreign coins 5 for a dollar sometimes! =)

Its a great way to enlarge your collection. I especially love those cheap junk boxes!

And for some people that will be their whole interest, all the different sorts of coins they  can get to collect, that are inexpensive.

Roman Bronze - two solders holding two standards.. dates back to Constantine

what's left of my small collection of ancients.. including Byzantine (got some Mideaval somewhere too...)

my whole collection.. including world coins, Chinese fakes, and ancients
Constantine was a 4th century emporor, he converted the Roman Empire to christianity anbd became a christian himself. Me I like coin collecting I've got all the state quarters to date and have stared on the presidents..They'll be 38 ogf those including 2 of Grover Cleveland.

oh wow, I nearly forgot this thread exists XD

congrads on obtaining all the state quarters, that usually takes some hefty effort nowaday. I've tried to collect them all once, but ended up having to spend them. A pity

All you have to do is set aside one once you get it, preferably when its more or less new. it also helps if you have the coin collection map to put them. Mine, well most of them are as jammed in as I can get them, some have edges sticking out, as long as they don't fall out, I'm happy :D The 99s are the rarest..

Turn it over where you can't see the chip or cover it up and you can pretend it's not chipped.

I've got a 1944 quarter, which has been worn smooth. 8 Franklin dollars. 3 Susan B Anthonys, 3 Sacagaweas,a bunch of the new presidential dollars, 12 or so Bicentential quarters. a $10 bill from 1950, a couple $2 bills, a penny from 1937, 5 from the 1940s, and 3 nickels from that same era.
