^Yes it can, because it's made out of protein, which is elastic, but you need to apply truly savage force to bite through a nail of this size.

What's really amazing is that Ducky actually bit the toenail and Sierra felt it. I mean, who feels anything if they bite their nails? :lol:

Considering where she bit down, I'm sure she hit a blood vessel.  It's the only point you would actually feel it.  I should know with my bad habit and all.
