Young Denton lay awake looking up at the stars. It was late, his mother lay close by asleep. It would seem that all in the valley would have been asleep as well, but the eternal chirping of insects and small toads would make it seem otherwise.
As the young longneck lay looking up at the cosmos he'd study each star, some would seem to twinkle others just stayed perfectly lit. Some were bright, others were dim, Denton was fascinated by them and he'd often wonder in silence about them
The moon was at mid peak now, full and bright, an ominous dead-like grin smiling down upon the sleeping valley, Denton never liked the look of it, there was something about that giant orb of white light that always spooked him but he could never figure it out.
It was indeed late, but Denton was having trouble getting to sleep. Those past few nights before he had been having terrible dreams. But when he would awaken he would remember nothing about them, except that they were truly terrible and he felt very bothered about trying to get back to sleep. He, being the ever shy creature that he was never spoke of these dreams, but the few that were friends with him started to notice that he started to grow increasingly more and more tired each day.
Denton knew he needed his sleep, but he feared the strange nightmare that kept haunting him, but even as he tried to fight off sleep this night, he felt his eyelids starting to give out, he was too weak to fight any more and so he gave in, his eyes snapped shut and he was swept away once more into that recurring nightmare.
He awoke finding all about him in complete darkness, a cold breeze blew constantly around him and he had the feeling of absolute loneliness, he cried for his mother but she was nowhere to be seen or heard, the only sound came from the howling wind. Suddenly the sky above lit up, a bright and terrible light came erupting from the west and it shot into the east and at a terrifying rate before disappearing behind the mountains, lighting up the clouds around it as it went. The wind went silent and Denton stood shaken by the terrible sighting, he knew not what to make of it.
Then suddenly...
BOOM!
Denton awoke suddenly, his ears ringing from the terrible sound from his dream, or was it really from his dream?
The whole valley was now awakened and it was still night. Everyone seemed disturbed by something and they were all looking towards the western walls of the valley. Behind those walls there seemed to be an eerie glow illuminating the sky. Denton's mother was already up with the other adults and they each spoke in hushed voices.
"What is that strange light? What was that horrible sound?"
"It shook the valley whatever it was!"
"Should we go investigate?"
"No! Its beyond the valley... it would be much too dangerous."
Denton slowly made his way towards the silent meeting, he looked around to see who all was there, his mother was busy conversing with the other valley inhabitants so he dared not interrupt her. He still crept near looking to see if any of his friends were there hoping they'd know more about what was going on.

Zaine was at this point completely awake after the loud boom. He had no idea what it was, but seeing all the grown-ups frantically whispering to each other didn't make things any more settling. "What was that?" he tried asking one of the adults. Unfortunately, everybody was too preocupied to really answer him back. Something really feels off here. All of the grown-ups are really scared. Are we under attack? Zaine then noticed one of his friends, Denton, was also walking around. Zaine approached him, hoping he would know something. "Denton," he asked his friend, "what's going on? Why are all the grown-ups so startled?"

"I dont know" Denton replied "I woke up from a loud noise... and there's a strange light beyond the walls... I .. I thought it was all in my dreams!"
ooc: sorry for the delayed response, I was giving others time to join in before I did anything. This is a minor post for that reason :p

Petrie had gone out to check to see if his friends were ok, while many of his siblings were still cowering in fear in their home.

Mim was over with the other adults, thinking if she wanted to remain with them or just go away from the adults who would often rather argue then do anything.

"Heh, I hope it landed on a sharptooth's head. It would serve them right." Mia said laughing a bit. "Or if it scared some farther away from the Great Valley." Though she was glad whatever it was didn't really hit in the direction where Deon's herd lived.

Longtail despite everything that had just transpired had amazingly remained asleep as if the loud sound had no effect. He rolled over on his side as he felt someone poking him. He began to kick at the disturbance hoping it would go away. Unfortunately a rather rough shove to his belly woke him up with a start. "W-what... is it?" he asked obviously irritated with being woken up.
Cyrix looked down at his nephew with an annoyed look of his own.
"Longtail, the valley could be in trouble." He then looked up at the valley's eastern most wall and was struck speechless.
Longtail looked over as well and seemed confused. "Uncle... what is that glowing on the other side of the Great Wall?" he asked quietly.
Cyrix took that moment to shake his head clear, and replied, "We need to find someone down on the valley floor who might know what's going on." And with that, the duo departed the northern valley wall where their cave was located and searched out the others.
"Zaine, Denton!" said Longtail with a sigh of relief upon finding two of his friends safe. "what is going on around here?" he asked genuinely confused.

Denton repeated his explanation to Longtail
Meanwhile Serius the elderly swimmer joined in amongst the adults who were still discussing the strange light beyond the wall and the noise that came before it.
"If I may have a word on this, I advise everybody calm down and get back to your sleeping. I'm sure that whatever it was that caused that loud bang and whatever caused that eerie glow beyond the wall is nothing of danger to us. We can talk more on it tomarrow." Said Serius. The others just looked at him.
"Arent you the least bit frightened by whatever it was? It shook the entire valley!"
"Yeah, and it lit up the sky too! I was awake to see the whole thing!"
Serius simply shook his head "It came and it went. Nothing more will come of it now. Let us be at peace."

Cyrix smiled and nodded his head.
"I suppose you are right Serius."
Longtail was worried about what Denton had told him, but upon hearing his uncle speak he turned his head and glared at the rainbowface. "You mean to tell me I could've kept sleeping?!" he commented a bit loudly.

Mim shook her head and left the area where the adults were talking, guessing they would likely start arguing and get nothing done. Which was why she seldom came to these meetings. It seemed from what she had heard and observed if anything needed doing then some kids would do it.

Zaine became a bit worried. Nobody had any idea what was going on, but it seemed like some of the adults were trying to calm everybody down. "How can everybody be so calm? Clearly something is going on here." He looked over to Longtail, his closest friend in the valley. "What do you think about all of this Longtail? Clearly something happened that the adults do not want us to know about."

"What makes you think they dont want us to know about it?" asked Denton giving Zaine a curious look, "they've been too busy talking to each to even talk to us yet..."
Just then the adults began to depart from their meeting and went their separate ways. Denton's mother called to him to join her
"Sorry guys, I've got to go... let's meet up tomorrow!" Then he hurried off leaving Zaine and Longtail to their own business.

Mim looked back seeing some adults leaving, "I'm surprised. I expected them to argue for most of the night." Mim said.

"It's all over? with nothing decided? What a waste of time." Mia said to those nearby.
She wondered what Deon's herd would make of whatever happened & if they'd do anything.

Petrie didn't see any of his friends so decided to head back to his family's nest since it was still late and it seemed like nothing was going to happen that night.

Longtail smiled and waved as Denton returned to his nest with his mother. "Good night Denton." he said as he turned to face Zaine once more. "Honestly... if my uncle hadn't been so persistent in waking me tonight... I would have slept through this whole ordeal. Where are you sleeping tonight? I might be able to stay with you and we can talk about whatever this problem might be." he said with a tired sounding yawn.
Cyrix stepped over to the two boys and asked, "I trust you two, but please, if you're going to sneak off and do something dangerous... and I know you will.. can it at least wait until morning." with a pleading sound in his voice to both Longtail and Zaine.

"Ok Denton!" he called out to his friend. He then looked over to Longtail. "I'm not staying too far away. If it's ok with your uncle, we could head back now." Zaine laughed at Longtail's yawn. "You sound like you want to catch up on a lot of sleep." When Cyrix approached them and pleaded they not go adventuring until morning, Zaine became even more curious. "Why? What's so dangerous? Nobody has even mentioned what happened, so how can we know if there is something dangerous out there? You wouldn't happen to know anything, would you?"

"That was a dud meeting I bet." Mia said as she shrugged and started to head where her family's sleeping place was, not to far from where her friend Diver's family nest was. She did hope Deon was doing ok out where he was.

Mim headed back to her sleeping place to go back to sleep.

Petrie went back to sleep as best as he could.

Cyrix gave Zaine a cryptic look and asked, "I know, only as much as you think I know..."
Longtail yawned again glancing at his uncle as he replied, "Yeah, yeah... can I just go back to sleep?!" He then yawned again and gently climbed onto Zaines back with a smile.

Zaine eyed up Cyrix skeptically. Something about the way he said that didn't feel right. Zaine was almost ready to respond "Then you obviously know something", but after Longtail jumped on his back he refrained. "Ok then. We're heading back to my nest now. See you tomorrow." With that, he turned and headed back to his sleeping area, making sure Longtail didn't fall off. When they got a considerable distance away, he thought to himself. Cyrix is definitely hiding something, but what? I'll worry about it tomorrow.

Cyrix smiled as he heard Zaines response. He waited until Zaine was out of sight and then turned to look over at the strange glow over the valley wall. "This... might be a chance to change somethings."
Longtail was already asleep on Zaines back snoring softly with a smile on his face.

ooc: yeah, my apology for the two day slack... well, here goes!
It was late morning, but one could never really tell with the bleak dark clouds that rolled over the world beyond the valley walls.
Two lone threehorns trekked across this desolate land towards a violently rolling column of black clouds that emitted from a large crater.
The two dinosaurs were Groffis and his older brother Theadin, both notorious characters, long banished from the valley for picking fights due to their indifference towards the other species who dwelled there.
They were now curious of the distant crater that was bellowing the black ash-like clouds. It was the destination of the meteor that fell the night before, and from that crater there still emitted a strange glow, though much more dimmer than before and only noticeable as it reflected ominously upon the cloud pillar from below.
"What do you suppose it is?" asked Groffis.
"I'm not sure." Replied Theadin, "But I think I've heard stories of such things.... These great mountains of fire crashing into the land from the skies... Really scary stuff!"
"What do you suppose father would think of such?" asked Groffis.
"Who cares what father would have thought?!? He's long dead! Why do you keep asking me about him anyway? He was nothing more than a big stupid brute!"
Before Groffis could respond to his brother's rant Thaedin shushed him with a glare.
"Let's just check this strange smoking hole out and get on about or day already!"
"Of course, brother..." replied Groffis and he said nothing more.
The land before them sloped slightly upwards before dipping into the bowl-like crater, they were much closer now and the billowing column of clouds loomed like a black demon god from some terrible unknown abyss far beneath the earth's crust.

Upon waking up, Denton had hurried to get his friends, he was planning to climb the walls to see what he could find out about the strange happenings the night before. Even if it meant disobeying his mother or the other adults.
The skies were dark gray in the valley as they were in the land beyond, and there was a strange smell in the air. Not a very nice morning indeed!

After eating some breakfast with his family Petrie took to the air to see if he could find his friends and he could see what they were up to. He decided to first fly over to Ducky's family's nest.

Elsewhere in the Great Valley, a young threehorn was snoozing away for quiet a bit, not even caring that the Great Circle was already up in the sky. Her name was Skye, and she was asleep for the time being, well she was as she gave off a little groan, to which she stood up with a stretch.
She was still a bit annoyed about the loud crash that was heard last night, which in turn had woken her up, and in turn, didn't give her too much sleep last night as after the loud crash, she didn't manage to fall asleep afterwards, well, not much anyway.
Skye got up with a rather big stretch and yawned somewhat as well before taking a look around, yawing a second time before starting to step off, heading towards the water, looking to be rather tired.

Longtail awoke with a yawn, and stretched his sleeping muscles awake as well. He then stood up and promptly fell off of Zaines back landing on his head. "I hate when I do that." he muttered to himself with a laugh. He then turned to see if Zaine was awake yet.
Cyrix was standing near where Zaine and his nephew had slept the night before. Not trusting those two to wait before going off towards the edge of the valley. "Those two are so stubborn... but I must admit, they do seem to have a great deal of courage."

Zaine abruptly woke up when he heard Longtail topple off of him. He stared at him and sighed. "Longtail, is there any place that you won't fall off of and land on your head?" he asked with a laugh. "I'm surprised you were able to get any sleep after last night. I had so much trouble falling asleep I almost didn't."

Denton soon arrived to meet them, just as they were waking up
"Hey guys, glad to see your up. We've got to go see what that explosion was last night!"

Skye had walked all the way to the water and seconds later, just put her head into said water, not even bothing to lift up at the moment....it was her, well, rather odd way of waking herself up, all she could think of at the moment.
There was a laugh that was heard "You're not going to keep your head underwater all day, now are you?"
Skye lifted her head up and looked over to the other, Cera "Why not? I didn't get much sleep last night, no thanks to the loud noise.....could not get to sleep again after it had woken me up" she groaned and dipped her head back into the water.
Cera gave off another little laugh and walked over to Skye, sitting down beside her "Well, doing what you're doing isn't going to help matters any better"
Skye lifted her head up and groaned before collapsing onto her stomach "Well, do you have any bright ideas?"
"I don't know, maybe a game or something, get you running about and active and all that stuff" Cera then suggested to Skye "Like, tag" she added in with a grin.

Petrie not finding Ducky took to the air and saw Cera. Happy to see one of his friends finally he flew over to where she was, landing nearby.
"Me glad to see you. Me no see others yet." Petrie said.

Mim awoke and while eating breakfast and getting some water glanced over in the direction of where the noise and light had come from. She was thinking if she wanted to go to the edge of the valley and maybe try climbing a hill to see if she could see outside to get a peak of what it may be that hit there last night.

Zaine saw Denton approach them and he immediately stood up. "Count me in. Something happened last night, and I think the grown-ups don't want us to find out." He then looked at Logntail, who was still on the ground from his fall. "Longtail, I know you'd probably want to many other things than just lie on the ground. You coming too?"

Cera looked over to Petrie and gave off an even bigger grin than before "You're just in time Petrie, Skye and I were going to play a game of either tag, or I was thinking of, maybe....Sharptooh Attack, just something to get Skye here all motivated"
Skye on the other hand, looked to be rather bored, still unsure on what she really wanted to do in the end and sighed just a little bit "I guess either one sounds like fun" she spoke with a bit of a yawn as well.

Longtail smiled at Denton. "Alright, are we all ready for this..." he asked with a curious tone in his voice... but then he began to think about the danger. "But if anything.. and I mean ANYTHING dangerous starts to happen, I want both of you to promise me you'll go and get help." he spoke with a firm tone of voice.
Cyrix sighed.
My nephew... so brave, and yet at the same time, overconfident to the point of stupidity. thought Cyrix as he continued to stay hidden.
As Skye and Cera were deciding what game to play, another figure stepped out of the surrounding brush. It was a red scaled Styracosaurus. He stepped forward with a grin and spoke aloud. "Hi! I'm kinda new here... I don't think I've seen you two around here before. My name is Stryke, nice to meet cha!"

"Okay, truth be told, I was going to find out what made that loud crash last night....that was before you came and interupted me" Skye spoke up back to Cera, having not noticed the new guy just yet.
"And the start of your plan was to keep your head underwater?" Cera asked back, smirking some again as she looked over to Stryke "Sorry about that, my name is Cera, and that there is my hot head friend, Skye"
Skye sighed a little as she looked to Stryke "Yeah, hello Stryke" she spoke, still annoyed with what Cera had told her, rolling her eyes at Cera as well.

Zaine shook his head. "Longtail, don't even think about pulling the solo deal. You should know by now that no matter what happens I never leave you behind, and I'm not going to start today." He then spoke with a smirk. "Besides, somebody's got to protect you in case you fall on your head again." He looked at Denton. "Whenever you are ready, we can head out."

"So do we play game or," Petrie shivered a bit before saying it, "Go to very scary beyond to look at what make noise last night?" He asked, guessing his friends would choose to go out to see what had caused the noise last night."

Mim and Mia were separately thinking if they wanted to go and see what had caused the flash and noise last night.

Longtail gave Zaine a serious look as he spoke up. "Zaine, you're like a brother to me... if anything bad were to happen all I'd have to do, is fly up into the air. You on the other wing would be limited to running on the ground, and if the danger happens to be faster than you.... well..." He didn't feel like finishing that sentence as he looked to Denton and asked, "Well... are we going or not?"
Stryke smiled at Cera and Skye. "Well... I'm not sure what game you two want to play, but me... I like adventure... so I say we check out whatever caused that giant noise."

"Alright guys, let's get going!" said Denton and he turned to go down the nearest path that would lead him straight to the wall, he half expected his friends to follow him.

Thaedon and Groffis both approached the edge of the crater both were in awe of what lay before them
Deep in the center of the perfectly round crater emitted not only the bellowing black cloud of smoke but there were other strange anomalies, In the very center of it all appeared this large orb of light; other strange bursts of lights flicked through the air like brushstrokes and the ever present flicker of static lightning that burst from the smoke cloud. Not only that but the air around this area seemed to bend or be manipulated in strange ways morphing the scenery like some crazy fun house mirror effect. Aside from the sound of the electric buzz from the static, everything else here seemed deathly silent.
both the threehorns were awfully curious of what they were seeing, and of course, niether one understood the natural elements that were present, so naturally they were dumb enough to want to go down and investigate.
Thaedon being the usual wimp that he was felt the need to bully his younger brother into making the descend first. He kindly nudged Groffis with his head until Groffis went helplessly tumbling down into the crater "You go first." said Thaedon after shoving his brother over, not at all seeming to care of his safety. Poor Groffis tried to gain control but continued his painful slide downwards, only coming to an eventual halt just inches away from a nasty static shock from the central anomaly.
"Yeowch!" He cried after receiving another jolt
"Is it safe?" Asked Thaedon who pretended not to hear his brother's cry.
"What -OW! - do- AAH! - you - YAH! - think?!?" He called angrily back to his brother while receiving a few more jolts of harmless static.
Theadon simply scoffed and ignoring his brother's 'yips' of pain from the static he called back down to him.
"See what that big ball of light is while your down there. I'll just wait up here."

Soon Denton and the others were slowly making their ascend of the great wall, Denton having made several trips up this wall himself knew the fastest way. He came up here very often just to take in the view of the world beyond the valley, and very often the valley itself. But nobody knew of this, not even his friends. This would be the first time he'd actually bring them up here in fact and possibly the last.
As soon as they arrived over the edge they each beheld the world beyond, and at this very moment everything looked bleak, they saw the massive cloud column that polluted the skies and casted a gloomy shadow over everything. Seemingly like a lone monster or a storm that terrorized the deadlands.
"Woah..." said Denton, having never seen such a terrible and dark site. And feeling terribly frightened, he felt the urge to turn and go back but didnt show it in front of the few friends that were with him.
ooc: to those whom are not with Denton at the moment, don't worry, we're not leaving the valley, thus not leaving you out of the adventure :p

Skye looked to Stryke, Cera and Petrie "Well, if any of you lot do want to come with me to find the source of last night's noise, then be my guest" she spoke with a proud grin across her face as she started to walk off.
Cera gave off a groan and shrugged slightly "I guess we could go with her, besides, someone needs to make sure she doesn't get into any sort of trouble and what have you" she added on as she looked to Petrie and motioned for him to follow before looking to Stryke "You coming?"

Petrie looked at his friends that were present. "If friends go then Petrie go." He said as he stood up, towards the end of his speech, to try to show how unafraid he was.

Mim headed towards one of the borders of the Great Valley thinking she could maybe look outside the valley to see if she could see anything in that direction.

Zaine had never really climbed up the Great Wall before, mainly because he never had to, but he was still anxious to see what had caused the disturbance the night before. Before they had reached the wall, the group had run into Chomper, and he decided to join them as well. Zaine was perfectly fine traveling with Denton and Longtail, but at the same time he was happy Chomper found them and was coming with them. "So does anybody have any ideas as to what that was last night?"
"Beats me," Chomper replied. "We've had some weird things happen in the Mysterious Beyond and the island before, but I don't think anything like that. I hope whatever it is, it's friendly."
"You and me both Chomper," Zaine agreed.

Stryke grinned at Cera's remark.
"Of course I'm coming! It's a boys mission to protect the girls he meets." he said aloud with a similar smirk of pride on his face.
Longtail looked over at Zaine with a skeptical look in his eye as he said, "Seriously? Zaine, you KNOW our luck with adventures outside the valley... chances are whatever that thing is... it's going to be bigger, faster, stronger, and smarter than we are. I just hope that whatever it is.... doesn't try to eat us." Longtail then stopped walking as he thought he saw a familiar face. "You guys see that?"
Littlefoot for his part had heard the commotion last night, but like everyone else, was too tired to do much about it. Now that day had appeared...he was ready for another adventure. The only problem was he couldn't find any of his friends, so as he reached and looked over the Great Wall. "wow..." was the only word that came to mind when he saw the devastation caused by whatever had crashed.

As Cera was still talking, she had failed to realize how far ahead Skye had actually wandered and let off a bit of a groan, to which she turned to Petrie and Stryke for a moment more and motioned for them to follow her as she rushed off after Skye.
Skye in turn, had no clue on where the noise had actually come from, and her plan was a rather simple one, search everywhere for anything that doesn't seem normal or looks out of place.
"Skye! Wait up!" Cera called out after her friend as she ran to catch up to her.
Skye stopped for a second in order to allow the other three to actually catch up to her before looking to Cera for a second, then over to Petrie and then over to Stryke as she spoke up to the three of them "So, uh....any of you lot have any clue on what actually caused that noise last night?"

Petrie shrugged, "Maybe burning sky rock fall like we have seen before. Maybe it big one so make loud noise when it falls and hits ground." Petrie said. "Me glad it no hit here in great valley."

Zaine couldn't argue with Longtail's statement. It was true, their luck with adventures outside the valley had not been very fortunate. Still, considering they had no idea what had caused the disturbance last night, they couldn't make assumptions just yet. "Just as long as there isn't a repeat of what happened with that dark mist that turned you psycho. That was not a pleasant experience for any of us." He then looked past Longtail and saw the familiar face as well. "Is that who I think it is?"
"I think it is!" Chomper yelled. He could recognize the face anywhere from any distance. "Littlefoot!" he called out. "Littlefoot! Over here!" I had a feeling Littlefoot would find his way here, Chomper thought to himself. He's always up for a good adventure. Well it looks like he's going to get just that.

Longtail gave a moment to scratch his head and looked to Zaine as he said, "Ya know... you keep talking about that... and I don't remember ANY of it. The only thing I remember at all... is feeling...cold and depressed.... but incredibly strong at the same time."
Littlefoot looked over after hearing a familiar voice and smiled as he recognized Chomper almost instantly! "Hey guys! Hi Chomper!" he said aloud as he stepped over to his friends. "Seems we all thought the same thing. Can anyone see what's in that crater?" he asked genuinely.
Stryke looked at Cera for a moment and replied, "not a clue... but maybe Skye has an idea?" he asked with a macho tone in his voice.

"Say Petrie, you think you can fly up and see if you can spot the big sky rock, to see where it had landed?" Cera asked Petrie.
Skye in turn, gave off a shrug at Stryke's comment "Not a clue really, so far, I guess Cera's idea will work, getting Petrie to fly up and see if he can see anything, it's our best bet at the moment" she added on with a little shrug.

"Me can do that." Petrie said smiling. He took to the air and flew up trying to see if he could see the area where the sky rock had hit and what he could see of any detail. He flew straight up from where his friends were.

Mim started up to try to get to a high place along one of the walls around the great valley on the side where the sky rock had hit so she could try to look out to see if she could see anything.

"Your guess is as good as ours," Chomper replied. "It sure was loud last night though. I almost fell out of the cave from the noise alone." He looked in amazement at the crater. "It looks really neat. Can we go closer to it? Can we? Huh?"
Zaine nodded. "There's a reason why you don't remember any of it, Longtail. Just take my word for it, you had us VERY worried about you, more than usual." He looked over to Chomper. "I wouldn't get so excited just yet. We still have to figure out whether or not it's safe to go down there. I mean I'm just as curious as you are, but we can't go running in without thinking this through." He looked at Littlefoot. "What do you think?"

Littlefoot looked down into the crater and cringed.
"I personally don't want to go any closer than we are already."
Longtail grinned as he said, "Well then.... guess it's up to me!" He then flapped his wings and just as he leaned over the side of the cliff, a hand grabbed his tail and dragged the young flyer back onto the cliff edge.
Cyrix stood with Longtail's tail in one hand and a firm grin on his face. "None of you are going anywhere but back into the valley."
Stryke looked up at Petrie and asked Cera, "You're friends with a flyer... cool!"

Chomper frowned with disappointment. "Aww come on!" he complained. "We just want to see what made that noise last night! There's a cool looking hole in the ground down there! We just want to go see it! Please?"
Zaine however was not surprised Cyrix was there. In fact, it got him thinking. There's no way this is coincidence. He knew we would try and find whatever made the commotion last night. Something isn't right here. He eyed up Cyrix with suspicion. "Really convenient how you found us RIGHT before we were about to go exploring, huh Cyrix?" He wasn't fooled for a minute. Cyrix definitely knew something about this thing, and if Longtail wasn't going to ask him, then he would. "Okay, spit it out! Tell us what you know!"

"Heh, yeah....Petrie's a good friend indeed" Cera replied back to Stryke before calling out to Petrie "You see anything from up there?"
Skye gave off a small yawn again as she looked up to Petrie as well, just watching him at the moment, remaining quiet, but yet, was ready to move off the moment Petrie would speak up.

Petrie hovered in place looking in the direction till he found what he was looking for. He studied the are to see what he could before he called down.
"Me see big hole with maybe light inside. Sky rock hit over there." Petrie said pointing for a moment and starting to fall before he went back to flapping his wings again.
"It make big hole. and a big mess." Petrie said.

Cyrix looked to Zaine with a smile and gave a short laugh as he replied, "Now Zaine... what ever could make you think I know anything about this? Besides we've all seen flying rocks before... it's nothing to get worked up about."
Longtail continued to look into the crater curious about what was inside the hole... but sighed as he knew his uncle wouldn't let him go.
Littlefoot looked at Zaine and said, "Come on Zaine... let's not make any trouble."

Sneere groaned as he awoke, last night something had crashed and he happened to be close enough to it for the shockwave to knock him unconscious, he was lucky that it hadn’t done any real damage to him, Sneere looked around and spotted a group of dinosaurs by the crater.
"Hey who are you!?" Sneere called over in leafeater language.

Chomper looked down and noticed something moving around near the crater. It was small, probably about the size of Ducky, but Chomper had never seen this creature before. It then started yelling at them, asking who they were. "Hey guys, there's somebody down there!" Chomper looked down at the crater and yelled out. "Hey! Who are you? How did you get down there?"
Zaine of course was still locked on Cyrix. Littlefoot had tried to tell him to calm down, but for some reason he didn't listen. Zaine normally trusted Cyrix, but something was different. This time, Cyrix was hiding something from them. "Oh come on!" he replied. "You honestly expect us to believe you don't know anything? First you deny anything happened last night. Now the moment we are about to figure out what that thing is, you come out and stop us? What, you thought I didn't notice?"

Mim went through a cave to the other side that lead to an exit cave high above the ground that she could see the area around that part of the great valley and some of the effects of the area around where the sky rock some had seen the night before had hit, including the crater it made.

"That what me see. What you think ?" Petrie asked those below him.

"I just happened to be around when something big crashed, now then cousin why are you here? and what are all of them talking about?" Sneere asked looking at the group in curiosity.

"That'll have to do" Skye muttered back to herself as she started to head off in the direction of where Petrie had pointed in.
Cera looked up to Petrie, then looked over to Skye and saw her already walking off "Hey! Wait up Skye!" she called out and rushed off after her, yet, looked back to Petrie and Stryke to make sure that they were still following her before looking to Skye again "Look, I know you're curious and what have you about the sky rock....but you really need to think it through properly, not just walk off willy nilly"
"Oh, and I suppose you have a better idea on what to do?" Skye asked back with a little roll of her eyes as she continued to walk on.
"As a matter of fact I do, and it involves you not walking so far ahead and actually talking it through with myself, Petrie and Stryke.....we need an actual plan, not just 'go there and find the sky rock', we need a proper plan" Cera replied back as she rushed ahead a bit of Skye and stopped in front of her.

Petrie came down and landed near the other 2. "Cera right. Bad idea to rush off alone. We must stick together and have plan." Petrie said agreeing with what Cera said and nodding to what Cera had said before.

Sneere looked around before he walked over to Petrie and poked him.
"Excuse me but can you tell me what the heck is going on?" Sneere said looking very confused.

Petrie looked at Sneere, "Big sky rock fall outside Great Valley. It make big boom and bright light and big hole in ground where it hit and area near messy." Petrie said.

Mim looked out and could see the area near where that sky rock hit did make a mess of the area around, which was nothing new from her experience and from what she had heard.

"What's the big deal, a sky rock hit the ground. It's happened before." Mia said to herself as she walked towards a bush to eat some leaves from it.

Sneere smirked.
"Ah, well then maybe the time I think was coming is soon! sorry cousin but it seems you will be gone soon, my decedents will rule," Sneere said with a very delusional look on his face.

ooc: a note to everyone.. the crater is actually a a mile or so off from the valley.. so to "look down into it" would be kinda impossible from this standpoint.. sorry for any confusion here, and please ask questions in the discussion area if you are confused. Also, thanks Kor for not having Petrie see too much of what's going on inside the crater. The characters need to remain oblivious of what's going on there for the current plot to work with my two three horn characters. Keep the characters in the valley until this plot is set .. thanks for your understanding! :)
Groffis was struggling to get closer towards the strange orb of light, still yelping from the static shocks that randomly emitted from the bellowing column of smoke.
"Well, what is it?" called Theadon who continually paced back and forth on the crater's edge, he eyed his brother impatiently waiting for a reply.
"Have patience brother!" called Groffis agitatedly and he came just close enough to look directly into the bright orb.
"It... it appears to be nothing but some big bright ball of light! And its really hot!" He called to his brother "Can I.. come back up now? This thing is starting to really spook me!"
Just then something happened. There was a strange flash of light and the smoke column started to whirl around the light orb. Another flash of light and a then frighting pop noise and Groffis stood there no more. Vanished. The bright flash was almost blinding to Theadon and when he was able to recollect his sight he could not see his brother anywhere in the crater.
"Groffis? Where the heck did you get off to? What happened down there? GROFFIS!"
But there was no response.

Denton was too aww struck with the terrible sight of the outer world that he had completely forgot about his friends nearby. He did not hear their conversations. He was busy wondering what it was that was inside the distant crater.

Cyrix laughed lightly as Zaine continued his accusations. He lifted Longtail into the air with his hand and smiled as he replied, "Honestly Zaine... the reasons for your outbursts are truly unneeded. I am simply looking out for your safety."
Longtail scoffed aloud as he said, "Really... then why won't you let me go?"
Cyrix laughed again as he replied, "Because nephew... you're a flyer... and rather easily to run off and get yourself in trouble, and I personally don't want that to happen." Cyrix then turned to face Sneere and grinned. "And you, you must be confused... we dinosaurs have been around for a very long time... and I doubt we'll be going anywhere any time soon."
Littlefoot noticed Denton was still looking towards where the crater sat. He stepped over to the younger longneck as he spoke. "Hey Denton... it's an interesting sight isn't it..."

Sneere smirked at Cyrix "You say that, but I have seen the future cousin, you will be gone and my kind will grow and make amazing things!" Sneere said making it very clear he wasnt exacly right in the head.

Chomper was a bit confused by the creatures remarks. "Since when have dinosaurs been slated to die off? We've been living for a long time, and like my friend said. We're going to be living for a long time." He was still very anxious to see what was in the crater, but it was kind of far away. He didn't want to run off by himself. He turned to Littlefoot again. "Littlefoot, how far do you think that thing is?"
Zaine still was not buying Cyrix's innocent act. He was sure that the rainbowface was in fact hiding something, but he could not tell what or why. "Whatever." He realized he wasn't getting anywhere with arguing with Cyrix, but he was still suspicious of him. Zaine noticed that Denton was still perplexed by whatever had landed. "Denton, are you okay?"

Denton glanced away from the scenery realizing that Littlefoot was near him and that Zaine was talking to him.
"Huh? Oh.. yeah... sorry..." and then turning to Littlefoot "Hi Littlefoot.. I did not see you there... were you saying something to me?"
It would seem that Denton was so focussed on the distant crater that he subconsciously blocked out everything else that was going on around him. He knew that what he was seeing had something to do with his strange nightmares, and he was desperately trying to make sense of it all. The strange explosion the night before was definitely apart of his nightmare as well and he remembered that part strangely very well. And now the crater, he seemed to recall from the dreams too. Everything else seemed completely blotted from his mind.
Realizing his awkward absence made him feel somewhat embarrassed, but upon hearing Littlefoot and Zaine, he suddenly came back to focus and saw his surroundings much more clearer than usual.

Theadon was suddenly more concerned about his own brother than he had ever been in his existing life. He quickly made his way down into the crater, stumbling and often tumbling until he slid into place where Groffis was standing before he vanished. Upon making his landing he was immediately jolted by the static sparks from the orb and he let out a painful yelp. It felt as if he were being jabbed all over with the needles of a large bramble bush all over his body. But being more concerned for Groffis he tried to ignore this.
"Groffis, where are you?!?" he called out, but there still was no answer, nor any sight of Groffis. He called again and again, still yielding no results. Feeling frustrated and nearly beaten by the static jolts he started to feel weak and weary and soon collapsed to the ground. He was facing the large ball of light as he lay there and soon he started to see images in it. He did not know if he were simply just hallucinating or dreaming, but what he saw in the orb appeared to be a completely different world.
Vague images of grassy pastures and mountains covered in fresh greenery and topped with ice. It was a world he had never seen. A world that had not yet come into existence on this same earth.
He also saw creatures, strange to him. Most were covered in fur. To us humans we'd know these creatures, some feline types (sabre tooth), some as woolly mammoths and other mammals well known during and around the first ice age.
Seeing these strange images within the orb of light, Theadon almost forgot about his brother. He even almost forgot about what was going on, and even of the world he currently lived in. But soon the images faded and he came to. And at that sudden moment he remembered his brother again.
"Groffis!" he cried as he struggled to stand to his feet. This time he was answered, but not by his brother. but from a voice, seemingly disembodied, coming from nowhere. Or everywhere. He could not tell. It seemed to hiss as it spoke to him.
"If you want to see your brother again, you must do as we tell you."
"Wha... who... who are you?" said Theaden who was very disturbed by the strange voice.
"That is none of your concern. Do as we say, or never see your brother again." replied the voice.
Though he was still frightened by this strange presence, he was desperate for Groffis, so he responded in the best manner that he could "Anything! Just... just give my brother back! He's all I have left!"
"You are to bring us younglings from your world. As a sacrifice. Only then shall we release your brother back into your time!"

Sneere glanced at Denton and smirked before he leaped on to his shoulder.
"You know what I'm talking about, you feel it, you've seen the future like I have, havnt you? you know what is comming and it tarrifies you, we are not so different cousin, but the real difference is, I have nothing to fear," Sneere nearly whispered into Dentons ear but was still loud enough for the others to hear.

Cera looked over to Skye who was still walking onwards before she rushed back over to her and stood in front of her once again, staring her right in the face "Listen, at the moment, we don't have any real need to go and see the sky rock"
"Oh sure, and what do you know?" Skye almost snorted back at Cera, giving her a small glare as well "All I want to do is take a look, a quick one, that's all"
Cera groaned a little and looked back over to Petrie and Stryke, motioning for them to come over as well, to which she looked back to Skye once again "Just, wait here....okay?" she begun and waited for the other two to get over to them.
Skye sighed back "Fine....I'll wait for now...." she replied back and sat down on the ground where she was, grumbling some to herself as well.

Littlefoot smiled at Denton as he noticed the younger longneck come out of his trance like stupor. "I asked if the sight was amazing... I always see these types of things as a chance to learn something about our world." he said with an air of optimism in his voice.
Cyrix however began to usher the children back towards the other side of the valley wall. "Come along little ones, we'd best be getting home... unless you want the other elders to yell." He then looked to Sneere and commented, "You are an odd one... but you too are more than welcome to return to the valley with us."
Longtail scoffed, "Sure... the valley only has so much food... why not lend the valley food to another hungry mouth." he said with a bored and somewhat sarcastic tone.
Stryke stopped walking for a moment as he thought of something.
"Hey, Cera, Skye, Petrie... I just had a thought... what if whatever made that noise last night is dangerous? Shouldn't we stay away from it?" he asked aloud.

Petrie nodded, "Far far away. Let it mess with sharp teeths in scary beyond. We no go there." Petrie said, not wanting to go anywhere where there was danger, not on purpose anyway.

Mim shrugged to herself, "not a lot to see but a mess." she said to herself looking out from the small cave entrance very high up from the ground at the edge of a very sheer cliff and turned to go back through the tunnels to the great valley, though she wasn't really outside the great valley.

Chomper followed the others back into the valley, very disappointed. "Aww, but I wanted to see what that thing was! Now it's going to be bugging me all day!" He then noticed for the first time that there were others near them. He recognized them as Cera, Stryke, and Petrie. "Hey guys!" he called out to his friends. "Over here!" he waived. "You guys try to see the thing as well?"
Zaine now was having a hard time of figuring everything out. Cyrix was still acting very strange, but now Denton was acting weird. He had no doubts that Denton was curious about whatever happened that night, but it almost seemed like he was more terrified of it. Nevertheless, Zaine assumed Denton most likely didn't want to talk about it, and Cyrix was not going to talk. He laughed at Longtail's comment. "You know, I'm pretty sure there's enough food for all of us, but you are usually the one who hogs all of it."

Petrie looked at the direction of the familiar voice, "Chomper, me glad to see you. " He said as he flew over to where Chomper was.

Sneere looked at the dinosaurs and chuckled as he clinged to Dentons shoulder.
"Fools, even though I'm right thay refuse to listen," Sneere said with a delusinal look on his face.

Denton went along with the rest of the dino's, his mind still wondering, but he did not keep entirely to himself. Sneere's suggestion about seeing into the future made him curious and so he questioned Sneere as he sat upon Denton's back.
"What exactly did you mean by seeing into the future?" asked Denton as he made his way down the stoney path. "I've never really thought about it... But since you've brought it up, you have me wondering... Is it even possible?"

Sneere continued to smirk before he responded.
"Yes, I have seen the future, something will happen, I don't know when, but a great flying rock, the king of flying rocks, will come here and he will end you dinosaurs, and proclaim that my kind shall rule, my decendents shall grow to new sizes and shapes and create amazing things, this will all come to pass," Sneere said before he frowned "Ofcourse everyone thinks I'm crazy," Sneere sneered.

Longtail smirked at Zaines comment.
"So.. I hog it all... well then what does Spike do all day?" he said with a laugh.
Cyrix continued to walk with a smile as he realized more of the children were gathering. "Glad to see that everyone is alright... now who here wants to play a game?" he asked with a warm tone in his voice.
Stryke grinned as he looked to Cera and asked, "More friends? You have a really strange group ya know."
Littlefoot laughed at Sneere's comment to Denton and replied, "well you have to admit... even if it is true, and I don't think it is, that it does sound kinda funny."

Denton thought Sneere was a few pebbles too short in the head, but thought it rude to comment, so he did what he did best and kept his mouth shut. He proceeded with the other young dinosaurs, interested now in what games they would be playing that day.

It didn't seem to take much of an effort for poor Theadin to leave the crater. He was frightened by the voice and the sudden disappearance of his brother. But he knew he had to obey the orders of this strange disembodied voice. He was to go set forth and find young children dinos to bring back to the crater, and maybe his brother would be spared some potentially terrible fate.
He did not understand what the voice meant when it told him that his brother was in another time, and he had almost forgot about the strange images he had seen in the light orb. His mind was now set on this mission. And he knew exactly where to look.
Even though he and his brother had been banned from the valley many sun cycles ago, they often snuck in through passages unknown to the valley residents to steal a few bites of fresh green food. They often spied on the valley dinosaurs while they were there, and they knew of several of the places the children loved to roam and play.
His plan was simple. To simply walk into the Valley, and sweet talk the kids into the prospect of an adventure to visit the crater. The children would not know who he was because they had never seen him, nor have they really ever heard of him from the other adults, but he would try to seem to them as a smart and very kind grown three horn who would lead and protect them on this grand and educational adventure away from the valley and back. He had to do this though where none of the valley adults could see him. For him, if he successfully pulled it off, not only would it probably bring his brother back, but it would also be the perfect revenge on the valley for his banishment.
The trek so far was an hours walk and the valley walls now sloped up before him, it would not be long before he found just the right hidden little passage that he could squeeze through and then his mission would only be half done.

Zaine laughed. "Okay, Spike hogs most of the food. You just happen to hog what he leaves for the rest of us." He then glanced at Cyrix. The rainbowface certainly seemed innocent, and if he really did know anything he would have told them. He may not have trusted him and Longtail to not sneak off, but he did trust them enough with information. Maybe I've been too hard on him. He would never keep something so serious from us. Not after everything we've been through. "Hey Cyrix," Zaine spoke up. "I'm really sorry about how I've been accusing you. I've just been so worried about that thing and it just seemed like you knew something. I realize that you wouldn't keep something like that a secret, because you would want to protect us. You're like a father to me, and I shouldn't have yelled at you like that. Please forgive me."
Chomper still couldn't get over Sneere. He was certainly a strange character, but at the same time Chomper found him funny. "I'm sorry Sneere, but I really can't believe what you are telling us. The moment dinosaurs stop existing is the day sharpteeth become leaf eaters." He laughed at his own joke, even though it was probably a rude comment to somebody he had just met. He then looked over at Petrie. "Say Petrie, why didn't you just fly over to whatever that thing was? You could have been there and back really quickly."

"It look pretty far away." Petrie said.

Mim exited from the cave and went over to a nearby bush to eat a leaf or 2.
"Been exploring?" Mia asked as she walked up to eat a bit from the same bush.
"Just looking a bit at a high up area outside the valley. Couldn't see much. Looks like that flying rock made a mess." Mim said.
""Doesn't concern us any so why care." Mia said before she tore off a few leaves to start eating.

Sneere grumbled something but his stomech soon rumbled and he frowned.
"I'm hungry," Sneere said as he looked around, he spotted a nest of eggs and smiled "Ah, Fruit!" Sneere cheered before he jumped over to the nest and picked up one of the eggs, cracked it open, and drank the inside "Ah sweet fruit," Sneere said happily as he picked up another egg.

Cyrix smiled gently as he placed a hand on Zaines head. "Zaine, you have nothing to be sorry for. You were worried, and that gave you reason to be suspicious of my motives. Your insight is well placed. I was hiding something from you, but it has nothing to do with what made that noise last night."
Longtail looked confused.
"So then... what were you hiding from us?" he asked with a yawn.
Cyrix smiled again and looked to Zaine. "What do your instincts tell you Zaine?" he replied.
Littlefoot gave a small laugh at Chompers comment to Sneere but then quickly stepped over and pushed Sneere away from the nest. "Those are someone's eggs! You can't eat those!" he said rather alarmed.

Chomper was equally alarmed by Sneere's action. "Littlefoot's right. You can't just walk around eating other dinosaurs' eggs. How would you feel if you had eggs and somebody just came around and ate them." He found it funny that he of all dinosaurs was preaching about eating food. Had he not hatched under Littlefoot's care, he most likely wouldn't have cared what he ate, as long as he ate it. "I'm sure there's fruit on trees we could find for you, but from now on we don't eat eggs."
Zaine was completely confused at this point. The moment he apologized to Cyrix for his accusations, the rainbowface admits that he was hiding something. Zaine was just about to jump down his throat about it when Cyrix then said it had nothing to do with the object from last night. Even Longtail was wondering what it was Cyrix had kept from them. Then Cyrix had asked Zaine what his instincts told him, and he was lost. "To tell you the truth, I have no clue. My instincts were already wrong, so I don't really know what to think. I guess something wonderful, hopefully."

Petrie shuddered, alarmed at Sneere's actions and moreso as they reminded him of 2 others the gang had encountered before, "He like egg eaters Ozzy and Strut." Petrie said, still remembering them. "me remember how bad they were. Now we have new type egg eater here. "

Sneere simply looked at the others and shruged before placing the egg back.
"Ok, sheesh, I've never gotten this much trouble just for eating fruit, but fine, I'll eat something else for now," Sneere said with a shrug.

Denton had long since left the other children and wondered down into the valley and towards another spot he loved to go to for peace and solitude. In a deep wooded area where the canopy of the trees were so thick that only small beams of the sun shined through on that particular part of the day. Where the sun did shine there grew small groves of tiny purple flowers. There was something about this place that attracted Denton to this area almost on a daily basis.
Upon entering this small grove Denton smiled and flopped down next to one of the tiny plooms of small purple flowers. He didn't eat them, he simply just admired their tiny designs. Such pretty little things with their small white centers.
It was also here that Denton often took his naps since he had a hard time sleeping at night like the other dinosaurs. Each day he would attempt to sneak at least a moments nap, unless he was made aware of that his friends or his mother were looking for him. Today would certainly be different as he would soon have an unexpected guest.
It so happened that Theadin was exiting a very cramped little cave that allowed him access from the beyond and into the valley. Feeling very sore and tired from his experience he felt the need to rest but refused to do so. He needed to work on his plan now. He needed to find a way to gather the valley children to hear his offer of the so called great adventure. As he stood looking about him, he saw that he was surrounded by the usual greenery of the valley forest. He was safe from the view of the other adults, and he had just the right setting for him to plan his next move uninterrupted.
But just as he started to ponder this next move he glanced over and saw not too far from him the napping little long neck. So very peaceful the little creature, not even the faintest sign of a snore from his deep slumber. (It would also seem that Denton was not having his usual nightmares, but Theadin wouldn't even know about this.)
Upon seeing young Denton, his plan took shape. He would simply get the little longneck to bringing his friends to him, and there Theadin would propose his grand adventure and ask them all to assist him.
Denton soon awoke to the sound of footsteps as Theadin approached him.
"Huh?" said Denton glancing up at the large adult threehorn still half asleep. "Wh...who are you?"
"I am a friend, little one." Said Theadon, trying to sound convincing.
"Is.. is my mother looking for me? How long have I been asleep?"
"Oh no, dear child... I just saw you here and stopped by to check on you... you know, like a good responsible adult should do for all the our valley young."
Denton stood blinking at the threehorn, something was very silly about him, but Denton couldn't quiet place it. Theadon continued to speak and try to sound convincing.
"Uh... listen, kid... I need you to do me a favor... have you got many friends?"
"I.. uh.. I well... I suppose. Why do you ask?"
"I need you to gather them to me... in this very spot... Its very important. Can you do that?"
"I suppose I could." said Denton, still puzzled by this stranger. "But what's so important?"
"It involves adventure. That's all you need to know... A fun little adventure..."

Sirious the adult swimmer was enjoying a nice cool drink when Denton's mother came near to also indulge in a drink.
"Hullo, Sirious" she said.
"Oh, hello Lydia." said Sirious with a smile. "Good day for a drink and a swim, isn't it?"
"Oh don't be silly. I was never one for swimming. But I'm sure its absolutely delightful for you."
"Indeed." said Sirious with a smile and he lowered himself for another fresh gulp. Lydia did the same and then raised her head to look at him.
"Have you seen the children much today?"
Sirious raised himself smacking his lips and glancing at Lydia.
"Not a one... Not even a sign of my own niece and nephew wouldn't you believe it? But I may have a clue. Remember the events of last night?"
"Who wouldn't remember!" responded Lydia "That awful noise had the whole valley shook up!"
"Well, I would have to say our young'uns are probably very curious about what it was. They're probably peaking over the wall at what lays over the beyond. But I'm sure they're safe."

Fang approached the hole in the ground cautiously, he had just been out around the valley walls looking for food and his friend Nat when he saw it and after some hesitation decided to check it out.
"It's bigger than the others" he said looking down into it.

Zaine then noticed something odd. Denton had left their group a bit ago, but he hadn't returned. "That's weird. He's been gone for some time," he muttered to himself. He wondered if Denton had gone back to whatever that thing was, but at the same time he figured maybe he had to just clear his mind on it. Still, it seemed odd that Denton was gone for this long. "Hey guys, I'm going to go look for Denton." Zaine then left the group and started walking through the valley in search of his friend.
Chomper didn't want to be reminded of the egg eaters either. "Don't even get me started on those guys. I'm glad we never saw them again after my parents chased them into the Mysterious Beyond. Littlefoot and I would have been done for had they not showed up."

Longtail smiled for a moment as he looked over at Zaine. "I wouldn't worry about Denton. He likes to spend some of his time alone and somewhere quiet where he can rest. I'm sure he'll be fine." Longtail then felt a shiver run down his spine as he looked into the sky. "I... think today is going to be... special." he said at a whisper almost to himself.
Cyrix however continued to grin at Zaine as he replied, "Well if you and Longtail will follow me for a moment I'll show you what I was hiding."

Fang looked around and sniffed the air before looking back down in the whole. "I little peak couldn't hurt" h said and them began climbing down into the hole, his sharp claws making it easier to steadily climb down.

Sneere scoffed "I am not a egg stealer, I eat fruit," Sneere corrected without even realizing he was contridicting what he was trying to do moments before.
