Title: Sharptooth's Eye
Post by: Phantom on November 06, 2016, 12:32:47 AM
Well, there's one mystery explained. I never could figure out how the deleted frames of sharptooth standing by the thorns fit in, but apparently, the storyboards show that Littlefoot got caught in the vines BEFORE entering the brush area. Whether or not this was changed during production is debatable, but it could explain why Sharptooth's eye is closed before being hit with thorns.http://markpudleiner.blogspot.ca/2015/06/p...oards-land.html (http://markpudleiner.blogspot.ca/2015/06/part-2-don-bluth-storyboards-land.html)
Edit: This may have been pointed out already. Oops.

The only remaining question is: did the extra sharptooth stuff get animated? I know there's a couple frames floating around, but the eye could have been the product of animators following rearranged storyboards.

As a kid this caused a lot of confusion for me. I've read somewhere that the Sharptooth was chasing Littlefoot and the gang specifically to get revenge for the eye injury he sustained when he first attacked the young longneck and Cera... But in the movie he already had one of his eyes permanently shut when we first see him. Thanks for clearing this up, Phantom. :yes

MIND BLOWN.

I was wondering why he had his eye shut when we first saw him, but then when he was trying to snatch a trapped Littlefoot in the vines, he magically had his eye open for the first (and only) time.

I always assumed Sharptooth was just misunderstood. He just wanted friends, and to play, but the incident in thorn bushes ruined it. The tragedy is he was drowned by Gang of Five, and all he ever wanted was a friend.   Joking  :lol

There is a short scene from the trailer where he steps on swampy ground near Littlefoot in Cera...it got cut. There's a production cel of him destroying the tree, right here. That's all for fully completed scenes/cels of Sharptooth that were cut.

I wonder where was it taken from.
And why the hell it has so small resolution size?

I believe so. I'm not sure which one it is though. Sharptooth looks slightly different so it may have been cut in mid-production.
