Coming from the Shadowlands into the Great Valley must have been quite a culture shock - how are they different? Are there similarities?

Well the Great Valley is green while the Shadowland are shadowy..but in a way the way they are both surrounded by a wall kinda makes them almost the same place...just one green and one not green.
