LBT is turning out to be almost as if it is a security blanket for me :) Whenever I think about it, it's usually when I need to think about something else to stop thinking about some of the painful realities of life :p I use it mainly for creativity, for comfort, for all around enjoyment and to try to get in touch with the inner child in me.
So, does anyone here treat LBT like this?
-
Sort of, but for me it is not so much the hugging of LBT plush (though I have them) but dreaming a bit about more LBT stories.
-
I don't tend to use LBT as a means of security (nor do I really use anything as such) but I do like tend to watch LBT as a wind down at the end of a day after working or something along those lines. So, a de-stresser is more an appropriate tag I'd use (not that I get that stressed about anything :lol)
Despite this fact...can I have an LBT plushie anyway? :^.^: :D

What I use as a security blanket is my dog and my family. <_< I don't think something like a tv show could ever do that for me. It's a fun thing to watch, but if you mean something to escape reality then sometimes I use it for that but honestly even though I'm not a big gamer how I escape reality for a while is by playing a easygoing game.

Yes it can be just the thing after a hard day now gimme a plushie!

On topic: LBT can connect to my inner child and it sure helps me deal with some stressful things in my life :p I also use it to express myself, such as my fanfiction.

Security blanket.... Much like Iris, it's something else....... She knows what it is, and I know what hers is... :^.^: Heh... But, I do like the plushies, and have hugged mine from time to time... LBT just isn't my security blanket, though. Even though it did return my heart to a childlike state! :D But... It's... Something else, yeah. :^.^:
EDIT: As far as comfort zone is concerned... I voted sometimes, but really, it has nothing to do with a security blanket for me... I do love to watch it though... :^.^: Just isn't my security blanket, and never will be...

To be honest, I first started watching LBT to see if it could be combined with Star Wars in a crosover I was planning. (Yes, I know not all agree with me.) I eventually decided on it based on the the characters, who were both relatvely undeveloped and yet had very unique personalities, (not to mention the sheer number of characters out there made for loads of subplots, and the intricasy of the movies, which helped me see LBT as its own universe and timeline.
I still find the films endearing, especially 1 and 10, but I think the fun truely started when I combined it with another amazing series, which, while much more intricate and mind-boggling, would be even more interesting if the Land Before Time was added in. It allows characters from both sagas to change into more thn what they were, and benefit from each other, as well as face entirely new challeges.
It was never much of a comfort zone thing for me. I just liked the storylines.

LBT is what enables me to calm down when I'm about to blow a fuse, though that does not work 100% :(. Along with my faith, it also helps me listen to my conscience and do the right things. Indeed, LBT is a positive release for me :yes :^.^:.
Since I have perhaps all the plushies from the 1990s on, does anyone have a five-feet high plushie of Cera? If so, toss me one but please don't knock me lights out :lol!

Yes, I definitely find the movies to be very comforting. Often, if I've got something big and important the following day (say, an exam or a wargaming tournament), I'll watch some LBT before I go to bed. It might be a whole movie, or it might just be a few clips, but I find it helps to ease my nerves.
Of course, it would be so much more effective if I had some LBT plushies, especially one of Spike...

I just enjoy watching LBT. I've not thought about it before but there are certain movies I, and likely others, enjoy in a different way then certain other movies. Lbt, Mary Poppins, Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang, can be enjoyed in a different way then Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and others like that.

When at home, my snake and my bed are my comfy things. Snakes to me are tropical fish to some of you.
-
if LBT wasn't here but in a strange universe where they prefer kitties, then was my head so...so...empty,

Land Before Time is one of those franchises that really shaped my thoughts on characters, writing and developing mannerisms similar to them. I was echolalic when I was younger, so I would repeat the lines over and over in casual conversation.
(Ex: Instead of swearing when I got hurt or was upset about something, I would say "Oh bother", like Winnie the Pooh)
And once Pterano came into the picture...oh man...that was an excuse to let the gates flood open with all sorts of creativity for ideas to create new stories, even write original ones. Heck, I even wanted to send one of my stories to Universal to use as a posdible sequel idea.
To this day, my type of character I get the most attatched to are ego driven characters with hidden insecurities and are DRAMATIC AF, just the Most. They're usually unintentionally funny or deadpan snarkers. (Ex: 91!Darkwing) They don't necessarily have to evil, although I have favorites that are villains. (i.e. Vlad from Danny Phantom)
So...is Land Before Time a securit blanket for me? No, not anymore. But it is an important canon that encouraged my creativity and made me...human.

I think The Land Before Time was a comfort thing for me, as well as something that helped me get the creative juices going. Grandma and Grandpa Longneck were almost certainly comfort characters for me going through my teenage years. I still love them now but I feel like I don't need to cling onto them in that way anymore since my head is in a much better place than it was back then. LBT when I was a teenager brought me back to better days when I was a carefree child, watching the LBT films on an endless loop.
Now it's a reminder of the light both the films and the GoF shone on a dark time in my life. I was growing up, confused about things around me, felt like I was going a lot slower than my peers, and my relationship with several close family members was pretty strained but the GoF and its members were there to support me, and the films brought a lot of joy. I don't need it for comfort anymore but I still like dinosaurs and it's still a good creative outlet for me. It's certainly helping me get back into art which is something I was wanting to do for ages, but couldn't find motivation for.

LBT has always been a source of nostalgia for me. It was one of the tenets of my childhood, and it's something I always love to look back on whenever I reminisce about my childhood. And yes, it can also be a source of comfort for me, whenever I feel like adulthood is being too harsh on me and I want to think about simpler times.
-
I use it to take me back to a simpler time in my life and shut my brain off for a few hours or so.
