I use firefox, and over the last few days I've been trying to download a 900 mb file, with my internet connection speed it should take about 2 hours, however I'm having a few problems with my internet connection and it goes down every so often making it impossible to finish the download in time. After getting the internet back up again I always have to start the download all over again, the worst time as when I was 15 mb's from completing it, and it crashed. Is there anything I could do so the download would save its progress when the net shuts down and continue on from the point it was stopped?

Yeah.  Download the newest version of firefox (version 3.0).  It has the ability to resume crashed downloads.  Once it crashes, just go to the tools menu and click on "downloads".  Then it'll resume.

For downloads I use the Firefox plugins called Flashgot & WellGet.

NewOrder, there are different programms, like Download Manager and FlashGet, that might help you with this problem.

Why would they want to use a separate program when they can just upgrade their version of firefox?  Those programs are pretty useless in this day and age.  They just have no real purpose anymore.

I think Firefox just updates itself.  I didn't ask for the lastest 3.0 release.  I used the RC for the longest time and it just decided to update itself.

My moms computer still has firefox 2.7 something and it hasn't even updated to the 2.8 or 2.9 versions, let alone the 3.0 version.  It still does updates and such but it never updates the version number.  In fact, I've never used a program that automatically updates the version.  It might tell you that a new version is available, but that's the only thing I've ever had happen.  Then it asks you to manually download it.

Thanks guys
I've download the 3.0 version, turns out today my internet connection decided to behave and stayed opened for more than 10 hours, more than enough for me to finish the download, ironic isn't it?

It sounds like it.  But hopefully you have some tools now so it if it acts up again.
