The Fridge / The Voices Behind the Faces
« on: March 19, 2008, 10:08:05 AM »
I was curious what Mr. Paulsen looked like after hearing him on xthousand shows... so I Googled him... and... found an interview...

Rob Paulsen on Donnie and Marie - (Actually this is before Donny doing his song at the end of 9 (interview taped in 1999 I think))
Rob Paulsen voicing Yakko on camera...

on the side... you could get his autograph here actually :p

So now I think I'm gonna look for interviews of all my favorite voiceactors... this is why I didn't fit it under LBT related... because I may stray from the plethora of voices in those and go to others as well (will update through the day I'd imagine)

Tress MacNeille - Annoying Women - She's the one in pink on the couch

Thomas Dekker - he does get shot at in the beginning of the clip -shrugs- the life of a star...

Tara Strong

David Hayter The cosplayer on the other side... she seems as excited as most would be XD but... the costume... not so sure about that

John Moschitta Jr. MicroMachines commercial voice... he talks... REAL fast...

Don LaFontaine EVERYONE knows this guy whether you know it or not

Wondering if anyone can find a Jeff Bennett interview (Having a bit of trouble with it)

I can list off roles if people are curious where they've heard the voices...

There are more voiceactors... odd that so few have done interviews...

The Party Room / Song Artist/Band game
« on: March 09, 2008, 12:01:27 PM »
You connect the last letter of the previous band to yours, if you want, you can add a short description; at least say that type of band it is though; writers and remixers count too, just put "country songwriter" or whatever, or "remixer" and at least one remix that people may have heard of

"The"s can come at the beginning, or as a ", The" and last names can come first on solo artists

"DJ" may be used, or omitted (similar to "lake" or "river in Geo. Game)

Sugarland; Country band

Alba:
Twice the Speed of Life
Enjoy the Ride

Five Singles:
Baby Girl
Something More
Everyday America
Want To
Stay

Members: Kristian Bush, Jennifer Nettles, and formerly Kristen Hall

Three Days Grace; Rock Band

My Favorite Song by Them: Never Too Late

Etc.

You can also link alba, artists, and songs to iTunes, Amazon, etc

The Fridge / Seems fitting

I have realized over the course of the last few hours, there's not room for me in this forum, one member has made it very clear, since I'm sure my explosion which I have NO intentions of editing, I'll leave that for the admins... will end up getting my banned, or at least warned... but either way, to those who are apparently so tired of me being here, your wish is granted, bye, I'm gone

Gamers Zone / Franchise-Milkingô
« on: February 03, 2008, 02:22:17 AM »
anyways... Franchise-Milkingô is the process in which a main character of a popular series is taken, and stamped across various, TOTALLY unrelated gaming types... Examples:

Super Mario USA

Mario Party
Mario Party 2
Mario Party 3
Mario Party 4
Mario Party 5
Mario Party 6
Mario Party 7
Mario Party 8
Mario Party DS
Mario Party Gamma
Mario Party LIEK OMGZZ IS ANOTHER ONE OF DEEZ!

Mario Kart
Mario Kart 64 (Though not entirely a bad game, still an example)
Mario Kart Double Dash

Mario Tennis
Mario Tennis Sequel
Mario Tennis SEQUEL WITHOUT MARIO EVEN IN IT!!!

Mario Super Strikers
Mario Super Strikers Sequel

Mario Golf
Mario Golf Sequel

Mario 3-on-3 somethingorother basketball omgwtf
That other basketball game that had Mario in it...

Mario Paint (Though I enjoyed it, doesn't make it not a prime example)

Mario Picross

Dr. Mario

Yoshi
Yoshi Cookie

Mario is Missing

to some extent Mario Teaches Typing

Donkey Kong Jr. Math

Pac Man Fever

That Soul Calibur Game with Link in it... though less so, as he fit in well I guess... and it made a bit more sense...

Diddy Kong Racing (Though I once again, enjoyed the game, still an unnecessary stamping)

PokÈmon Puzzle Matching game thingy

Kirby Pinball Land
That Kirby Breakout game

Robotnick's Bean thingy...

PokÈmon Snap... somewhat

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games DS

In all honesty...

Super Smash Bros.
Super Smash Bros.: Melee
Super Smash Bros.: Brawl

I'm certain there's beyond a plethora of others...

Even technically the Mario RPGs are not quite along the same lines, though they at least keep with the pattern that gets us to buy a Mario game... Save the Princess or whatnot...

Here's the question.....

IS IT RIGHT to stick a name on a game, that could be just as fine without it, when the name doesn't really affect the game in any way other than juxtaposing a specific character in a place that doesn't need to be set up so? If a game is quality, does one really need to stick a character in it as the franchising that didn't need to be?

Before you say it makes the game good: How many of you would go out and buy just a Tennis game with cartoon characters of no name doing roughly the same stuff? Racing game? Basketball? Soccer? Typing? Tetris-style puzzle game? Pinball? How many of you bought the game that just so happened to have some character in it? Would you have bought the game, with ALL the same settings, but just none of those characters in it?

It is one of those things that just makes me so mad

The Written Word / Saved Words
« on: January 16, 2008, 04:04:27 PM »
In English class I was re-introduced to "saving words" this is the act of writing down a word you hear that sounds interesting and using it later for something, be it a story, a poem, or just to sound smart :p

What you do: Post a word, define it, and if you want, also use it in a sentence
You can also say where you heard this word, and why it caught your interest

I'll start (obviously)

Solipsist: One who believes "My mind is the only thing that truly exists"

Also can mean egocentric, or self-centered...

That guy is such a solipsist, he won't let you debate with him, he only believes what he thinks, no one else matters.
(After reviewing recent topics I've been active in, I must state to better comfort certain people, that this sentence refers to ABSOLUTELY NO ONE)

I heard it watching Penn and Teller's show, which I can't say the name of on these boards... because of profanity rules... ironically, I heard the word in their Profanity episode... (season 2, episode 10)

It caught my interest because it sounds fairly poetic, and, let's be honest, you don't hear that word very often

(I didn't know whether this'd better fit here or party room, because it kinda reads like a game, but it seems like a good writer's tool)

I had a bit of trouble deciding which section to put this under, but I finally decided that since the visual was such a major part of it it should go under Silver Screen.

Anyone seen these amazing demonstrations of computer capability?

Action, I think this is down your alley ;)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHWApa70pJk cool ones

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOQQ3uC-Z08 even ones that make a Kanye West song have merit!

(by the way, it goes to show, that to make a Kanye West song good, you need a good famous group to do the background track, and someone other than Kanye rapping on it XD)

found any spectacular mashups on youtube or anything?

you've played an Apogee game...

Hocus Pocus

Monster Bash

Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure

Captain Keen

Duke Nukem

Wolfenstein 3D

Crystal Caves

Secret Agent

So many well known games... I don't know which is more amazing, that one third-party company has so many well-known games, or that all of these games are still on sale

Which games have you played? Which ones were your favorites? What levels drove you crazy? And what tricks got you through them?

Hobbies and Recreation / Boy Scout Memorabilia
« on: December 15, 2007, 12:01:27 AM »
I'm a collector of Scout patches from the Boy Scouts of America, I got hooked after going to NOAC (National Order of the Arrow Conference) and cashing in with a near perfect victory on my checklist :)

Recently my mom discovered a few pocket knives in my great grandfathers possessions, and one of the pocket knives was a Camillus Boy Scout Pocket Knife from between 1946 and 1950, the only thing that's odd... is my great grandfather was not in Scouting... -shrugs-

I also own other various things, a beret, a couple pins, my own awards etc.

Anyone else collect Scoutabilia? I know we have other Scouts on this forum

Keep in mind, just because I collect BSA stuff doesn't mean this is limited to that, Pfadtfinders, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts of Canada, Boy Scouts of Nippon etc. Go for it!

on that note I do collect foreign Boy Scout patches too, I have many from Japan, several from other places, including epaulets and what I imagine is the BSA patch equivalent of our flag... it's a fleur-de-lis... wait, I'll just upload my pic XD

This is a pic of my neckerchiff slide from Japan (says Boy Scouts of Nippon, then in hiragana I think it says everyday)

*note to a mod, if you could remove the "Boy" from the title to broaden the topic plz

The Fridge / Sci-Fi concepts
« on: December 11, 2007, 03:06:31 PM »
Ever thought of something that seemed fairly sci-fi? It doesn't have to work in real life, hence the "fi" part :p

I was sitting upstairs and watching Futureweapons, and I started thinking about the way Minesweepers search for mines, they look for metal, and things that don't belong, and I thought about a chemical reaction I'd seen on TV once:

Rubidium when dropped in water creates a fairly large explosion, so...

Rubidium mine: A glass container with water in the bottom, and a sealed separate compartment with a fairly small piece of rubidium (less than 2 cubic inches would probably do)

when enough weight is put on it an explosion about the size of a hand grenade would be created, of course, I don't know how long the reaction requires - but it seemed clever at the time :p

Ever think up something that seemed pretty sci-fi? It doesn't have to be military like the above, just something that could possibly be made in the future, or at least look like it
