Silver Screen / Stranger Things
« on: July 02, 2022, 01:37:21 PM »
Noticed this show doesn't have a topic which kinda surprised me given its popularity. It's another show my brother introduced me to, and considering I'm not really into horror, I actually really enjoyed this. I love 80's aesthetic and music so I was hooked pretty quickly. Season 4 Volume 2 dropped yesterday, but I haven't gotten around to seeing the final episode (got a bit of a shock to discover it's over 2 hours long) just yet.

Does anyone else watch this show? What are your thoughts on it?

Travel / "Adventuring" / Off to Egypt!
« on: April 23, 2022, 04:34:41 PM »
Hey all! Tomorrow I'm off to Egypt for my first holiday in nearly four years. Unfortunately I'm staying too far away from the pyramids but I am staying close to some neat coral reefs and plan on doing a fair bit of snorkelling. Whether I do any other excursions, I don't know yet, but either way I'll try and take lots of pictures! The hotel does have internet but I've heard it's a bit hit-and-miss so whether or not I actually get online is another story. If I don't, see you next Monday!  :rainbowwave

Character Discussion / Pat
« on: November 22, 2021, 10:19:37 AM »
Apparently Pat doesn't have a discussion topic (or maybe he does and I just missed it because I'm blind lol), and he's a character I was thinking about when writing up my current top 10 list.

The Great Longneck Migration introduces us to a few new characters, most notably Sue and Bron. However, there's another new face here that doesn't get nearly as much attention and that's Pat. With the gang's story being much more in the background compared to Littlefoot's plotline, I can see why this is the case.

I like Pat. He seems a bit of a mysterious character, moseying around on his own with no herd and supposedly no family since he's very willing to go and settle in the Great Valley when the kids invite him. He seems like quite an introverted guy with a kind heart. He's always willing to help the kids even if they (well, Cera) rejected his offer of help twice before realising they probably could do with a big longneck to help them over obstacles and keep them safe from sharpteeth.

In the final battle he doesn't give up on defending the kids despite the injury to his leg hindering him quite a bit. And he stops a sharptooth from biting Bron's leg off so there's that.  :bestsharptooth

A shame we don't get so much as a cameo appearance from him later on since he moves into the Great Valley (or maybe he moseyed off again :p) but hey.

The Fridge / RIP Will Ryan
« on: November 20, 2021, 12:09:01 PM »
Will Ryan, who voiced Petrie in the first Land Before Time movie, sadly passed away yesterday.

From the Adventures in Odyssey website:

Quote
Today we learned that our dear friend Will Ryan passed away after a short illness. Will acted on the Adventures in Odyssey audio program since 1987. He played more than 150 characters across more than 400 episodes but was most well-known as the lovable genius Eugene Meltsner. Will was 72 years old.

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Will became involved in many aspects of the entertainment industry in California, especially voice acting where he’s known as Petrie from The Land Before Time, Willie the Giant in Mickey’s Christmas Carol, and Rabbit in several Winnie the Pooh cartoons. Throughout his thirty-five year involvement with Adventures in Odyssey, Will worked with other voice actor friends such as Hal Smith (the original voice of Whit), Walker Edmiston (voice of Tom Riley and Bart Rathbone), Dave Madden (voice of Bernard Walton), and Katie Leigh (who continues to voice Connie Kendall).

He will be greatly missed by us in the LBT community. Thank you, Will, for bringing Petrie and so many other characters to life. Fly high.

Silver Screen / Illumination's Super Mario Movie
« on: September 24, 2021, 03:11:33 PM »
So we've known about the Illumination Mario movie for a while and I think a lot of people were worried because, well... it's Illumination. In the latest Nintendo Direct we got Miyamoto to announce the release date of the 21st December 2022 for North America and finally introduce us to the voice cast, listed in the following tweet.

https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica/status/1441168482112966661?s=20

This is... interesting. I honestly thought this was some joke until I realised it was in fact the official Nintendo account tweeting this.

With Illumination being Illumination I'm not surprised they got a whole bunch of celebrities to voice the characters but I just can't get over this. Charles Martinet is literally right there in the film.

I'm still laughing about it but I'll admit I'm curious, especially with Jack Black as Bowser, that's something I didn't realise I wanted to see. What are your thoughts on the casting choice and the film in general?

I have to say, at least the memes about it are good.  :bestsharptooth

LBT Fanart / SRFG's fanart
« on: August 27, 2021, 08:01:39 PM »
Why did I make such a long username 9 years agoooooo

Can't find my old fanart thread, so might as well start a new one. Don't really want to look at most of my old art anyway.  :oops

Don't know how much I'll draw, and it's been a while since I've done it with dinos, but I used to be known around here for longneck art, and, well... I'm still just drawing longnecks. Oops.  :lol

This will mostly be OCs I think, although I may draw the gang at some point. Right now I'm too busy drawing Littlefoot's extended family, so bear with me.

So enough of my ramblings... here's some stuff. I'll start with one old drawing I still sort of like (now with no massive Photobucket watermark) from like, 6 years ago lol.

I think this was for an old fanart contest a few years back and I decided to draw Littlefoot crying because I'm a douchebag who likes to put my favourite characters through emotional turmoil.   :rhett_smile

The next one is something I finished today. This is a slight redesign of an old OC, Linnaea. She's Grandma Longneck's eldest daughter. It was just going to be her here as a character design sheet and then I decided to add more because why not I guess.

Littlefoot's mom at least is new pfp worthy material. Younger grandma looks really off, possibly because she was the first adult I drew and also the one I put the least time into, so... meh. It's something to get me back into it at least. Remember to use references, folks, they're very handy. I'm hoping to do some painting-like stuff over time between more character design sheets like this, but we'll see. Backgrounds especially are something I really want to work on this year.  Next up: SRFG draw something that isn't a longneck challenge!

General Land Before Time / Spoiler-free thoughts on Journey of the Brave
« on: February 02, 2016, 03:49:02 PM »
Well, I know that some of us won't be able to see the new LBT film straight away, but may want to know what others thought of the film. So, those of us who have seen it can post their thoughts here, but please, KEEP IT SPOILER-FREE! Spoiler-y thoughts should be posted in the Journey of the Brave topic for the time being, seeing as some spoilers have already been revealed there.

Anyways, I'm just going to give some quick thoughts, since I'm going to write a full review in the other topic at some point. I thought it was pretty good overall, and it was definitely a step up from LBT 13, so I'm happy. The songs were likeable, although I don't think there's anything particularly special about them, and as for the new voices... they didn't bother me as much as I thought they would. Grandpa will definitely take some getting used to, but it is what it is. Threehorn sounded pretty good and Felix Avitia did a great job on Littlefoot! The backgrounds they used were also quite stunning, too. There was a lot more detail to them this time around, which I really liked. There were a few things that bugged me a bit, but overall the story was good and it was great to see our gang back on the screen! I'd say it's one of the better sequels.  :yes

Visual Art / Rammy's other art and photography...
« on: January 07, 2015, 05:18:38 PM »
Hello all!

First of all, it certainly has been a while since I posted any art on here (2013, was is? :blink: ) and I'm sorry for that. I've just been very busy with stuff, mostly school and cadets. I do have some LBT fanart that's been laying around for goodness knows how long, but I'll get back to that one day. One day...

Anyway, I took GCSE art, and I'm pleasantly surprised at my skill. I've been drawing as a hobby for some years, but I think I've really developed what I can do, especially with drawing realistic art. I also received a pretty decent camera for my birthday last year, so I've been inspired to do photography with the help of my mum. However, I'm still very much a beginner and I haven't had the chance to take many good photos. I'm going to buy a tripod at some point, because the camera I have doesn't cope to well with camera shake.

Anyway, I'll post one of each for now:

This photo was taken last spring at my local park. I enjoy taking pictures of flowers, and I'm particularly please with how this one came out. I'm a nature girl at heart, but I don't really have much time to get out of the city, so I'll have to wait to take more nature shots.

This is my final piece for this year's GCSE art project. I drew this on A1 sized wood in biro with ink wash on newspaper and some bleach on black tissue paper. Yes, this is me in my cadet uniform trying to look cool. It's not quite finished yet...

 I'm going to go through my sketchbook and scan some of my favourites to show you guys. I might do some more cartoony art at some point too, as well as some more LBT fanart, but I don't know when that will be.

The Welcome Center / Hello again
« on: March 09, 2014, 05:56:23 PM »
Well, hello, GoF! It has certainly been quite a while, huh? Well, a good couple of months at least, anyway.

Firstly, sorry for my abrupt disappearance. Things just got really busy over the Christmas and New Year period and several commitments have prevented me from being on the net as much as I wanted to. There have been mocks at schools, I've finally gotten off my lazy butt and started to do more exercise, and there have been study sessions and Cadet nights happening all in the same evening at least twice a week, so it has indeed been quite busy and stressful lately.

Cadets has probably made things a lot busier than it needed to be, but it's been really fun. I managed to get an award for being best recruit of the year, I've taken part in a street parade, cross country competition, and last week I went flying in a two-man aircraft! It was probably the best decision of my life to join because the people there are so friendly and it's so much fun, but it's just a shame that it takes up so much time. :bang

Anyway, I hope everyone's been okay since I was last around. I've missed you guys terribly. :(

Member Recommendations / Flight Simulation
« on: September 03, 2013, 04:26:55 PM »
So, today, after a few months of waiting, I finally got to go on the flight simulator of which I got a voucher for on my birthday. I'm fairly sure there are quite a few places in the world that do this. This isn't the Microsoft games or things you get in a video arcade; this is a very sophisticated 1:1 scale of a proper commercial aircraft cockpit. I want to share my experience I had today:

I went to a place called the Aerodrome which is in Sywell, near Northampton in the UK. For any person like me who has a fascination with planes, it's a truly amazing experience. There, they have two Boeing 737 Next Generation (-600, -700, -800, -900ER) flight simulators. Seeing as I had flown on a 737-800 earlier this summer, I was really excited to see how my pilots would have flown it. I was really nervous at first, and then even more so when the instructor came out, but he was really friendly and set up the simulator for me before taking me, my friend and two members of my family in. I was sat in the Captain's seat while he took the First Officer's and he talked about how the plane would fly.

After that he gave me instructions on what switches to switch and the like, before we got the engines going. It looked complicated at first, but he explained it well and I got the hang of it. We also had to put in our desired route (I went from London Heathrow to Paris) so that we could navigate properly. So, in the end he powered the engines to speed down the runway while calling out the V1 and Rotate commands, while I pulled back on the control column and lifted off. That moment was truly breath-taking! :D

We climbed to an altitude of 35,000 ft, with me flying manually most of the time. The control column required a bit more strength than I first expected, but it wasn't too hard, and since I must have perfection, I always did the slightest movement to stay on the middle of the cross on the primary flight display that told me which pitch and direction I should have been at. The instructor said I flew like the super-precise autopilot, which was a really flattering comment. He actually seemed surprised that this was my first time 'flying' an aircraft. Mayday/Air Crash Investigation has taught me lots about aircraft, but I suppose it doesn't provide me with any actual experience. :lol

The instructor let me carry on flying the plane manually and let my friend sit in the First Officer's seat for a while to get a look at the view and the cockpit controls, which unfortunately ended up in starting our descent late. After a bit of a reckless nose dive (it was the qualified pilot's idea, not mine :lol), and an extended route we turned on the autopilot and guided it down to the runway. At the last minute the instructor turned off the autopilot and let me land manually, which was a bit shabby since I ended up going waaay too far right, but we did a touch and go since we still had some time left and we did a route around the airport before coming in for a second landing, this time without the autopilot doing anything at all. The second landing was a lot better, almost perfect. :p

So, finally I taxied to the airport (which I totally failed at, but I didn't quite end up on the grass, luckily), and found that the taxiing was probably the hardest part to get right, but I got no complaints from the guy. It is a difficult thing to get used to I suppose.

I'm planning to contact the pilot who went in with me and show my appreciation for his kindness and encouragement for me to pursue a career as a pilot, which is honestly my dream job. I think the least I can do for his friendliness during that simulation is to show my gratitude. :yes

Anyway, this is something I would definitely do again! If anyone has any interest in planes at all, I would definitely give this a go! I didn't find it too complicated. At first  it was just using the control column and following the route and then once we switched to the autopilot (which was just before starting the descent) I had to use a load of different controls to set bearings and altitudes to tell it what it needed to do. :)

So, if anyone wants to be a pilot in the future or just try it out, I would definitely recommend it, because the experience was truly awesome! For anyone in the UK, I would recommend the 737 simulator in the Sywell Aerodrome. The receptionist and the instructor gave us a very warm welcome, and the instructor was friendly, encouraging and informative. I will most certainly be going back there for another go. It had very realistic sounds and great views from the windows, as well as a unique experience that teaches you as well as lets you have loads of fun. I don't think I ever stopped smiling during the flight!

My friend took some videos of me 'flying' which I'll upload to YouTube once I've got them off her if anyone's interested in seeing them. Also, if anyone's got any questions about my experience in the simulator or about planes in general I guess (I'm not an expert, but I do know a few things about aviation), then feel free to ask me. I know it's a fairly long post for a recommendation, but I figured you guys should know the experience in detail if you didn't know what it would be all about. :)

Travel / "Adventuring" / Off to Tenerife!
« on: July 08, 2013, 08:09:24 AM »
Hey all. Tomorrow morning I'll be going with my mum, step-dad, and my best friend to Tenerife for two weeks. I'm not bringing any electronic stuff with me, so I won't be around here unless I find an internet cafe. Even with that, I won't around very much.

I'm staying in Los Christianos, in an apartment that's a fair walk from the beach, but that's a good thing if you ask me. I need to do a lot more walking...  <_<

Anyway, see you guys in two weeks! :wave

Chapter 12: Reunions and Revelations
Chapter 13: Fate of Friends
Chapter 14: The Fight for Family

~~~~~
Oh boy... what am I doing...?
Seeing as Ducky showed us all a preview of his fic, I supposed I should show you guys what I've been up to. Not much, really. No artwork, only one chapter... and today, I shall show you that chapter.
So, my story... Since it's set waaay before Littlefoot and co. are born (well, they are in it but don't appear until near the end, sorry), and since it's about mostly longnecks (did you expect much else from me, really?), this is quite heavily OC-based, and there are characters you will know here just under different names.
Actually, this is the life story of two longnecks we all know and should love. Some of you probably already know, some of you probably would have guessed by the last sentence, or maybe not. Anyway, this fanfiction is about how two longnecks met and how they came to be the ones we know.
Keep in mind, this is going to be quite tragic in some parts, and this will contain character death... mostly in the middle. Hey, I like putting characters through tragedy, and I suppose it's a bit of juxtaposition or whatever it is to the title. Anyway, since I'm waffling as usual now, start Chapter 1! And be warned, it's over 2000 words long, so make sure you have time to read this. Sorry, I like writing long chapters... :lol
Chapter 1: First Meeting
The herd looked over the valley, the leader and his mate at the front. The female was proudly carrying her youngest child, who beamed when she saw her new home. She was getting tired of living in the same herd since nobody else had nested their eggs. It was a dangerous time and most of the females had gone to the nesting grounds to leave their eggs to raise themselves, but this little girl had been lucky. Her mother had taken the risk to stay at home and wait until her eggs had hatched, but in the end only little Tosa made it. Their old home had been stripped of food by this longneck herd, and there was a drought going on, so hardly any food grew back. After the leader's daughter was born, they left immediately into the world of danger, but the child knew hardly anything about the negatives of the world. She had no grandparents, all having died from the drought, illness and sharpteeth that were seeking stragglers. However, Tosa had no idea about this, or death in particular. In her eyes, everything was perfect, and everything lived forever. Her grandparents had just left ahead of the herd, any dead dinosaur she saw on the trail was sleeping, and her missing older brother had joined her cousin's herd for a while.
The herd moved in, and Tosa was very excited, shaking with happiness and clutching the sides of her mother's face, who groaned at her but didn't do much else. The little one just hoped that she would meet someone new, someone she could be best friends with. She may have seen the world as perfect, but she wasn't completely stupid. She knew her parents and the other herd members were hiding something from her. They always got edgy whenever she asked about something which could be sensitive to some, such as why there was no food in their last home or what happened if someone got eaten by a sharptooth. The herd members had been told by the leading male that they were not allowed to tell Tosa any different to what he had told her, and they all agreed, not wanting to get on his bad side. Tosa squealed when they entered the land, and her eyes widened with amazement. It was a lush, green valley, with fresh pools of water everywhere and a great wall surrounding it, protecting the land from dangerous predators.
At the same time, another herd was entering the valley, along with another young child. However, he didn't seem all too thrilled with arriving. He had to leave his home after a severe food shortage due to a harsh cold time. Big sharpteeth took territory in the parts that did have food and everyone was forced to eat swamp sticks, but eventually all of those also ran out. There were many little ones within this herd, since the nesting grounds were at their home so all of the females nested and looked after their eggs, and so the herd was blooming with new life. This young one was lying on the back of his grandfather, who was fairly close to the front of the herd, and he was the exact opposite of Tosa. He knew all too well about death and illness, and didn't see much positive in the world at all. He was recovering from something that no child should have had to face. There were no parents there for him.
“Well, Thunderfoot,” his grandfather announced. “We're here.”
“Mmm,” was all he got in reply. Thunderfoot had been very depressed since the tragic event, not talking or playing much, and on some occasions even refusing to eat. His grandfather was the last dinosaur who could look after him in his family as far as he knew.
The two different herds came in two different directions, and settled in on different sides of the huge valley. Tosa slid down her mother's tail and ran between her legs, clearly excited and rearing to go and explore this new place.
“Can I go now?” she asked her parents. “Please? Please, please, please?”
“You need to eat first,” said her father, pulling some treestars from a nearby tree and dropping them next to his daughter. She just gobbled them up as quickly as possible, not taking in how good they tasted compared to her last meal.
“Now can I go?” she pleaded. Her mother chuckled.
“Of course you can, little one,” she said, nuzzling her child lovingly. “But be careful and don't talk to any strangers, okay?”
“Okay!” Tosa replied, running off into the bushes. Her mother giggled, but her father seemed worried. Tosa usually followed his rules without question, but most of the time she was with them, since they hadn't been in such a safe place before.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the valley, Thunderfoot was struggling to finish his meal. He had been thinking too much about that day again and had lost his appetite. His grandfather had to pretty much shove the food down his throat in panic; he didn't want his grandson to starve himself to death.
“Why don't you go and explore for a bit?” he finally suggested. Thunderfoot looked at him but didn't answer. “You never know, you might make some new friends... and it'll take your mind off things for a while, huh?” Thunderfoot just shrugged in reply. His grandpa pushed him to his feet. “Go on,” he said. “I heard another herd has also arrived... you need to go and make some new friends.” Thunderfoot nodded this time and walked off, his grandfather sighing as he did so. He didn't want to be harsh, but being too soft wouldn't help either. He had accepted what had happened as part of the circle of life, but Thunderfoot was still too young to understand that, and he thought that it was too unfair.
Thunderfoot walked on for a bit, before coming to a small pond. He slumped down on its banks, looking down at his reflection sadly. He fell into another of his daydreams, thinking about those he had lost.
Tosa ran through the valley, looking in wonder at all of the green around her. Soon enough, she spotted a flying buzzer, and chased it for a while, wandering very far from where her herd was resting. However, eventually the buzzer flew out of her reach, and she groaned in disappointment, before she heard someone sighing. She curiously poked her head through the tall grass where she had heard the sound, and was amazed at what she saw. There was another little longneck who seemed to be her exact age laying by a small pool. She examined him for a bit, and then she quickly ran up to the other little one.
“Hello!” she exclaimed, but the other longneck did little more than shift in reply. Tosa moved around and walked into the shallow pool in front of the other longneck to get a better look at it's face. She could tell now that it was a young male, and he seemed very depressed. “I said hello!” she said again, but he didn't even look up at her. Soon enough, her patience ran out. She pushed her face right up against his.
“Hellooooooo?”
The male looked up in shock at her.  “H-h-hi...” he stammered. Tosa giggled; the male seemed a little bit scared of her, backing off slightly.
“What's your name?” she asked him, forgetting all about what her mother had said about not talking to strangers.
“Er... Thunderfoot,” the young male replied as Tosa trotted up next to him.
“Pleasure to meet you, Thunderfoot!” she exclaimed, circling him. “I'm Tosa.”
“Erm... nice to meet you too, Tosa,” he answered hesitantly. Tosa stopped and suddenly put her face right up to his again.
“Do you wanna play, Thunderfoot?” she asked excitedly, jumping up and down.
“Well... I'm not really a playing... dinosaur,” Thunderfoot sighed, feeling bad when he saw Tosa's face turn disappointed, so he decided to suggest something else. “Have you been here long?”
“No, we just got here,” Tosa explained.
“How about we go exploring together, then?” he suggested, smiling weakly when Tosa's face lit up again.
“Sure!” she exclaimed. “Let's go!”
The two young longnecks sprinted into the trees, Tosa laughing and giggling hysterically, while Thunderfoot smiled for the first time in ages. They found many wondrous places in this valley, and searched high and low. They tried many different delicious foods, such as treestars and a variety of treesweets. Neither of them realised how late it was getting; they were having too much fun. Soon enough, they stopped for a quick rest, and Tosa was eager to know more about this child.
“So, do you have any other friends?” she asked him hopefully.
“Well... not really,” Thunderfoot answered. “Everyone keeps to their own family in my herd.”
“But there are other kids?” Tosa asked, getting a nod in reply. “We haven't got any in mine. There are a few who aren't quite adults yet... but they're too old to play. I guess the only dinosaurs that would play with me are my parents.” She noticed that Thunderfoot flinched at the last word. “Are you okay?”
“Fine,” Thunderfoot answered bluntly, leaving the female confused.
“Is it... something about your parents?” she asked, noticing that his mood downgraded every time she mentioned that word.
“Yes... I can never see them again,” Thunderfoot explained.
“Why not?” Tosa questioned, not understanding what he meant.
“They... they're lost,” Thunderfoot told her.
“Can't you go and find them?”
“It's not like that,” the young male sighed, now realising that the girl had no idea what he was talking about. “Is it okay if we stop talking about this, please?”
Tosa gave him a confused look but nodded, understanding that whatever it was, it wasn't putting her new friend in a very good mood. She rolled onto her back and sighed, stuffed with the wondrous food that grew here. Thunderfoot looked over at her, having strange feelings for the female. She was the only longneck that had made him smile since that day when his parents left him behind. Her bright and bouncy personality had lifted Thunderfoot's mood quite dramatically. Even if he still seemed depressed now, he was at least walking around and smiling, and of course he was eating, too. He also rolled on his back and yawned as the two watched the sky turn orange together.
“Tosa!” came a male voice, looking for his daughter. Tosa got up immediately.
“That's my f-” She cut herself off, realising what the young male had said earlier. “I've gotta go,” she said, before giving him a gentle lick on his cheek. She giggled when he blushed and looked extremely awkward. “Goodbye!”
“B...Bye!” Thunderfoot called after her as she ran off, before making his own way back to his grandfather.
Tosa soon found both of her parents.
“You're late,” said the male.
“Oh, for crying out loud, Sorrel,” said Patrice, Tosa's mother. “She's been out exploring the place! Did you have fun, dear?”
“I sure did!” Tosa exclaimed, jumping onto her mother's head with excitement. “I met someone new, Mother!”
“Oh, that's nice,” said Patrice, smiling up at her daughter. Tosa however, sighed, thinking about what he had said earlier.
“Can I ask you something?” she finally asked.
“Of course, Tosa,” said Sorrel. “What is it?”
“Thunderfoot, the boy I met...” she started. Sorrel glanced at her when he realised it was a male, but let her carry on. “He said something about his parents being lost, and that he wasn't able to see them again. What did he mean?”
At this both of the adults stopped, glancing at each other with worry. Patrice gave Sorrel a concerned look, wondering if they should tell their daughter what they should have told her since she was a hatchling. The male nodded and his mate sighed.
“Tosa,” the male spoke up. “There's... something we need to tell you. Something that we should have told you a long time ago...”
“Perhaps we should wait until the morning, though,” his mate said. “It's.... You're not going to like it, dear...”
Thunderfoot walked quickly back to his grandpa, who was also starting to get worried about him.
“There you are,” he said as the little one strolled up to him. The old longneck was surprised to see his grandson in such a good mood. “I take it you had a good day?” he asked.
“It was great!” Thunderfoot answered, nuzzling his grandfather. “I made a new friend!”
“Well, that's great!” his grandpa answered. “Are you getting tired yet? I think it's time you got some rest.”
Thunderfoot yawned and went next to his grandpa's side. “Okay. Goodnight Grandpa,” he said.
“Goodnight, Thunderfoot,” said the old longneck, nuzzling him before quickly falling asleep. The little one stayed awake for a little while longer, before spotting a bright star in the sky.
“Thank you...” he whispered, before also closing his eyes and falling asleep.
Well, there you go, I'm just going to clear up a few things here.
Names and why I chose them:
Tosa: A female name that I managed to derive straight from Apatosaurus.
Thunderfoot: From the meaning of Brontosaurus and also a reference to Littlefoot's production name.
Patrice: I dunno. The "Pat" start from Apatosaurus, besides that, I just like the name.
Sorrel: It means sour. It fits him, okay? :lol
General Land Before Time / The Longneck Herd
« on: February 24, 2013, 12:04:52 PM »
Okay, I've never started a topic here before, but this is just something that caught my attention.
This only really occurred to me yesterday when I watched the original Land Before Time movie for the 10,000th time. I don't know why, but it only struck me then during the narration. Just what exactly happened to rest of the longneck herd before Littlefoot was born? I'd say it was a fairly large group, so how did it all come down to just Littlefoot's mother and grandparents? We know that Bron left to find a new home, but what about the rest of them?
I'm just scouring through a couple of films and TV episodes to see if I can come up with my own theory, but it would be interesting to see what you think.  :yes
LBT Fanart / Some random fanart...
« on: January 27, 2013, 09:13:30 PM »
Well, after what, two weeks, was it? I've finally decided to post some of my fanart here. It's only longnecks at the moment I'm afraid. I have tried drawing the other species of the gang of five, though it didn't come out too great. Petrie was okay, considering I drew him from memory, Ducky I kinda like, but that was with a reference, Spike was "Meh", and Cera... failed.
So, enjoy my drawings, which mostly consists of Littlefoot's grandparents, because they are my favourite characters at the end of the day. Here goes nothing.
So first one:
This is...bleh. It was my first time ever drawing a LBT character, or a dinosaur for that matter, back in November. Well, since I was about 6, anyway. :D I used a screenshot to help me out with this one, but no tracing was done. :) Considering it's a first, I can't say it's the worst thing in the world; I was much worse when I first started with humans, and I never really got any good with that.  :x
Moving on...
Aw, how cute~ Haha, a few people commented on this saying how sweet it was, but I also see a few errors here too. First of all, with the grandparent selves, I really don't get why I made their noses dip downwards when they got closer to the eye, aren't they suppose to be... straighter?  :spit
Oh well, I like how the kiddies came out more. This was intended to be my Christmas/seasonal picture, so I put the transparent grandparents up there looking like the ghosts of Christmas future or something like that. I've always enjoyed "A Christmas Carol".
Also, on young Grandma's hind leg there, eesh. Bit thin, I think. XD
I had drawn Littlefoot and Grandma Longneck together before, but that never made it past the lineart, so I did have a bit of experience drawing younger longnecks. That lineart was also made using a screenshot for reference, but Grandma's head looked really squashed.
Third one:
Pff, this wasn't long after a friend of mine asked what my take on Grandma and Grandpa Longneck's past was. So, the family when Grandma and Grandpa were middle-aged, I suppose. Consisting and Grandma and Grandpa themselves, Grandma's mother, the Old One, Littlefoot's mother and another little one. I didn't really bother with shading and such, since it was just some concept art, but I uploaded it nonetheless.
Final one for now:
My latest and probably my favourite so far. I did a fair bit of experimenting with the background and such, although I didn't really bother with shading it. I just downloaded a load of brushes for GIMP and layered with a load of shades of green. So, they were playing, got tired, and then... oops. Oh noes, their parents found them! :! So, green longneck is Grandma's mother, while the old dude (Old dude? What? :lol:) over there is grandpa's, er, grandpa. Curse of the long snouts, much, mother? And Grandma's snout is a bit long too, for that matter. Mind you, they were longer when I inked them on paper. A lot longer. Thank goodness for digital editing. :slap
I don't know why, I just really like drawing Littlefoot's grandparents as kids, and my friend suggested that I do a fancomic for my take on their past, but I'm still thinking about that one. :lol
I'll upload more fanart as it happens. Feel free to critique, I like get to feedback!
The Welcome Center / Hey everyone!
« on: January 11, 2013, 08:33:13 PM »
Hey there, I am somerandomfangirl, but you can call me Molly if you want. I'm 13 and from the UK, and I pretty much grew up with LBT. I rediscovered it a few months ago and now I'm OBSESSED with it! My favourite characters are probably Littlefoot's grandparents while my favourite film is probably the first one, followed by "The Great Longneck Migration".
I've actually been snooping around here for quite a while, then I thought I should probably just join.  :lol
There's not really that much to know about me. I like drawing and writing my own stories, and making new friends! I hope to join in with some discussions soon! :D
