Grass

Ability to view the past at any point or the future 50 years from now?

Halo 3 probably has my most time played. Other big contenders would be Elder Scrolls Oblivion, Kingdom hearts 1 and 2.

Sorry to revive an old thread

But just had to add to it. LOVE Spyro. It was one of the first games I ever got. I really only played the main three. I tried one of the master PS2 ones and a gameboy one later on. The original trilogy (the reignited trilogy) will always hold a special place in my heart. We just love our anthropomorphic animal stories don’t we? Lol

From the character designs, voice acting, and music score. These games were just so beautiful, majestic, and fun. It was first game that really made exploring levels and the world fun to me. Finding hidden areas was my favorite part. I’m planning to go back and get all the achievements for it on my Xbox soon.

Starting NieR replicant. I also went back to play some Halo MCC.

Also I didn’t play this recently but I’d recommend the game ABZU to any nature, animal, art lovers which I suspect many of us here are lol. It’s more about taking in the experience than it is about gameplay, which is usually not the kind of games I like but I really enjoyed this one. It has a really beautiful art design and feel to it. Essentially you are a diver in an ocean and you can discover and interact with the sea life. You progress through different depths and area of the sea using different animals to navigate. It’s short and simple but I’d check it out if you enjoy those types of things.

I need to go back and rewatch this as I don’t exactly recall much of it. I want to say I rented it from the library or blockbuster back in the day. Is it sad? I have to be in certain moods to watch strong emotional movies about animals with powerful emotional music. Lol I’m a sucker for animal movies but I find it hard to watch a lot of them because I get too emotional about them  :thudLOL

Also it’s funny, Chomper, that you noted it being your first PG movie as I have this vague memory of feeling “adultish” watching it back then. Something in the movie made me feel like “oh my mom wouldn’t want me to see this” or “wow I’ve never seen/heard that before” feeling. I don’t remember what it was but I remember feeling that way at some point about it.

I also have yet to see all of them but my favorite I believe was “The Elder”. I would really love to see a series expanded on it. I liked the characters and their relationships that they introduced. It gave off vibes of the comics and stories I would read about Jedi masters and their apprentices.

I also enjoyed the Ninth Jedi. It felt like a piece of an epic movie. It was intriguing story that I’d like to see where they could take it.

The duel’s artwork and action pieces were so awesome. The mix of Star Wars and with the futile Japan style was a neat take.

The Banshee was a very cool and sleek design!

That’s tough because I like a lot of their designs. I think my overall favorite is the Gouf Custom from the 08th MS team. I just love the intimidating look along with the color and weaponry. It’s pilot was pretty cool too.

Along with it I also love Wing Zero custom from Endless Waltz, Gp-01 from Star Dust Memory, Hy-Gogg from War in the Pocket, Char’s Sazabi from Char’s Counter Attack. I tend to love the funky designs and the bad guys suits for some reason lol.

This is not only one of my all time favorite animated movies, but movie in general.  Along with The Land Before Time it was one I watched countless times growing up.  One of those movies that just exhumes goodness to me.  Really instilled the value of loyalty and friendship.  I love the characters so much.  I can't watch it and not cry.  I've wanted to rewatch it recently but I can't handle a big cry right now!  :thudLOL

Has anyone else seen it? What are your thoughts it?

Huge Gundam fan here!  :)  I haven't read any of the manga. I haven't seen every series but a decent amount I think.

Mobile Suit Gundam

Zeta Gundam (LOVE! The ending is really dark and nuts that they actually decided to end a series that way)

War in the Pocket (watched recently. Veryyy depressing but it's great. Honestly has some LBT tones as far as having to grow up and deal with grief)

08th MS team (maybe my favorite. I need to revisit it.)

G Gundam (The one I watched the most growing up. It's not like the rest but it's fun and has heart.)

Gundam Wing (the one that got me into Gundam, probably like most kids in the US that are my age lol)

Unicorn (It has a lot of nods to other series in it so it helped having seen them beforehand)

Mobile Suit Gundam origin (Always cool to see more Char)

I'm planning to watch all of them eventually

I've heard it so many times it's hard to remember what all movies they were. When I think of it I always think of Star Wars. That was my first exposure to it. I recently heard it in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Quentin Tarantino loves those throwback nods  :SharptoothAmused

I just got done reading the history post and watching the video. I wish I had joined years ago. I feel like I missed out in life. Thanks for keeping a record like this though. It's nice to read through. Seems like a great community that's been great for lots of lives.

General Land Before Time / Re: What if Don Bluth made a sequel?..
« on: September 09, 2021, 12:13:27 AM »
The ending of the original always feels finite to me. Especially the narrator describes that generations will remember all the dinosaurs journey to the great valley.  It makes me have the comforting conclusion that they lived peacefully there. (Until a supposed extinction event) The last shot of them embracing is just too perfect to continue with for me.

Not that other conflicts wouldn't exist but I always felt the theme of the inclusion of others and helpfulness to those who are different was big part of what the gang learned, and then went on to instill those values in the valley. My brain doesn't like to imagine the gang struggling through anything else considering what they already went through. BUT if Don did decide to revisit the world I have to imagine it would include a dire situation or maybe struggle of the young ones struggling to instill those values to their entire community. He loved the hard hitting situations that have happy endings, so I imagine it would be something threatening to Dinos. Doubtful a famine sine that was the first. I would probably guess climate (which I guess would effect famine) predatory hunting, or an extinction type event like I mentioned earlier. Although I'm not sure how you have a happy ending that way for kids. Don is so creative it's hard for me to imagine what exactly he would come up with.

- Gentle Sharptooth, it's really amazing how comforting it has been to me. I'm so glad Don Buth, Stu Krieger, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, James Horner, and the entire rest of the cast responsible for it's creation made it. It's been so impactful to so many people.

She's had radiation treatments, similar to proton. However the location of the cancer (in her spine) between the radiation plus the cancer has weakened her spine. The doctors said that it wouldn't be able to handle anymore without severe damage.  It's also located in spot in her spine where they would have to target it through the front which would cause damage to organs.  She's had radiation, Chemo, and chemotherapy pills.  A few held it off for quite some time.  Sadly it didn't fully eradicate it. They all stopped working at a certain point.

- somerandomfangirl, it seems like it has affected everyone's lives in some way. A terrible part of our broken world.  :rhett_sad. Thank you for being welcoming and supportive.  :)

- StardustSoldier, I'm happy she mentioned the forum otherwise I probably wouldn't have known about it. The thought hadn't crossed my mind to seek out others that share a love for LBT, but some support from others is just what I need I think.  Seems we do have some in common! After going over the story again (even though it gets crushingly depressing for me at moments) it inspired me that I can still have hope and the heart to push forward in life.  I just feel lacking in the friend aspect like the movie has. We need friends and family so I guess part of the motivation was to find others that had similar feelings. I'd love to read your reviews!

Also thank you for the name compliment.! You avatar is one of my favorite scenes.

-Mumbling, I'm very glad to hear that she is doing well. I hope for continued health for her and your family. Thank you so much for the encouragement and kind words. Memories are one of the most important things we have in life so I'm trying to make them the best.

-Mouse-a-saur, thank you for being kind and supportive. I hope to make some friends here that I can support as well. We all need it in our lives.

-rhombus, she's been going through it for so long that it felt like it would never end. It truly is one the worst things on this planet. I've lost a grandfather and two  of my dogs from it already.  I'm just trying to have hope that there is something more. I don't think I could go on much more with out that hope. Keep pushing for the Great Valley I suppose!  :TreeStar Thank you for the welcome.

I'm not really sure where to start to get involved here. I haven't been part of forum in quite along time (a forum for kingdom hearts the video game). I guess I need to do a marathon and try and catch up on the sequel movies that I missed just so I can be able to keep up with everyone  :rhett_smile

(Trigger warning) Going to say that my post may be a bit heavy for some.

I feel that being honest and up front is the best way to introduce myself and explain how I came about the forum. I watched the original countless times as a child. I loved it. It did make me sad too. I couldn’t imagine my mom dying and having to go through life like Littlefoot did. I had seen some of the sequels but not all of them. This first is my favorite due to its tone, themes, and score. It’s the most nostalgic for me. My parents divorced when I was 10, but I was watching the VHS release from Universal when I was 5-6 I suppose. I say that because that event in my life really made me attached to movies and their characters. It was an escape from the real world and friends that could help me through that pain that I didn’t really have as a kid.

Coming across Jenny Nicholson's video about LBT is how I heard about this site. I stumbled upon her video by doing lots of research and reading about animated classics that I loved as a child. (LBT, Charlotte’s Web, Bambi, The Fox and the Hound,  Watership Down, Rock-a-doodle, The Brave Little Toaster, 101 Dalmatians, Lady and the Tramp,  Balto to name a few) I love film, reviews, and behind the scenes creation stories. I was wanting to dive into the ones that were the first I ever saw. My nostalgic research was inspired because my heart has been in a time of longing for that child like innocence again. My mom has been battling cancer for over 6 yrs now. Recently received news from the doctors that her treatments are no longer working. Their estimated time she has left was 2 weeks to 2 months. (writing this at just over three weeks)

So looking back I can’t really interpret if it’s destiny, irony, coincidence, or preparation that the movie I watched and loved the most as child is centered around a mom dying early and her spirit guiding and instilling bravery in her son until he and his friends reach their promised land. It really shocked me revisiting LBT how unbelievably relatable it was here at 29 years old.

I’m sorry for the long winded and downer post. I’m not sure how much posting I’ll do but I’d like to explore the forum and read what others have to say. I just really wanted to say that to at least someone in the world. Especially fans of the movie that means so much.  :TreeStar
