I'm going to follow The Chronicles logic and go with an acronym, since I couldn't think nor find a word that starts with "rm"

Sorry for leaving all of you hanging (pun not necessarily intented). Been busy with IRL stuff, but here we go. I decided to go with a single word, no clue this time, except that it's a word not used in everyday vocabulary, but I'm sure a lot - if not everyone - has heard of it and knows what it means.

also, ya got a job? What careers would you want to go into.

Currently I'm unemployed but I do freelance work, mostly commissioned illustrations for personal use. I used to work as a storyboard artist in a small animation company, and I quite enjoyed my time there. Despite it, I've noticed that I can't make a full-time job out of my hobbies/things I like to do on my freetime, because it will drain the fun out of them. That's why animating ( = drawing) wasn't the right career for me. I've considered career paths as a web designer, painter/decorator, carpenter or a restorer, because they seem easy for me to learn with my current skillset and still enjoy my work but keep it separate from my hobbies, if that makes any sense : D.

Finally I have something (semi) new to post! Again, open drawings on a new tab for a better resolution c:

The first messy sketches are from 2019. I've been trying to redo them ever since but I never have the time and patience for it, so I'll just post them as is. Maybe I'll get back to them one day...

Dmitri "Dima" is an old Dimetrodon who prefers solitude over company. He might seem grumpy and angry at first but he melts pretty easily. He's very family oriented and gets along with kids super well.

Conan is a Concavenator. I took inspiration for his design from my favorite bird - the bearded vulture.

Izzy is a Therizinosaurus, and a new resident in the Great Valley. I got the idea for her when I started thinking that I'd love to see the main five being terrified of the scary looking Therizinosaurus, but then it turns out she uses those long claws to reach food - and to protect the valley from sharpteeth!

This is the newest drawing, which I started in December 2021 and finished a moment ago. This guy is a Tropeognathus who has been struck by lightning in his youth and ever since he got that big scar he's been known as Skyfire. I still need to develop his backstory some more, but uhhh I'll have you know that my husband and I came up with this character as a love interest for Pterano he meets after he's banished from the Great Valley : D

General Land Before Time / Re: LBT in your country
« on: January 09, 2022, 06:28:38 PM »
In Finnish almost every movie name is the exact translation from the original (even the name Maa Aikojen Alussa is literally The Land Before Time), but a lot of the character names take liberties.

Littlefoot - Pikkutassu (Little paw)
Cera - Sera
Petrie - Petri (a Finnish first name)
Ducky - Alli (a Finnish first name)
Spike - Piikki (literal translation)
Chomper - Jomppe (a diminutive name, could be derived from names like Joonas)
Ruby - Tuuli (a Finnish first name, means "wind")
Ali - Ani (I think this was made to prevent confusion with Alli)

Mr. Threehorn / Topsy - Herra Kolmisarvi (literal translation) / Topsi
Tricia - Trina
Mr. Clubtail - Herra Nuijahäntä (literal translation)
Mr. Thicknose - Herra Paksukuono (Thick muzzle)
Hyp - Henkka (diminutive of the name Henri)
Mutt - Mara (diminutive of Markus), and in the TV series Mökö (derived from the word "mököttää / mököttäjä" = grumpy)
Nod - Fergus
Rhett - Retu (diminutive of the name Frederik)

Rooter- Tonkija (literal translation)
Tippy - Tipi (fun fact: Tipi is the Finnish name for Tweety, the Looney Tunes character)
Shorty - Ossi (I don't know why they went with this name because there has already been a character named "Ossi". A more suitable translation would've been "Pätkä" which means short/shorty)
Big Daddy - Iso Käsi (Big hand)
Lizzie - Lissu (diminutive of the name Liisa)
Skitter - Keijo (a Finnish first name)
Rocky - Jori (a Finnish first name)
Dusty - Assi (a Finnish first name)

Sharptooth - Terävähammas (literal translation)
Strut - Pate (diminutive of the name Patrik)
Ozzy - Ossi (diminutive of the name Oskari. Not to be confused with Shorty : D)
Itchy - Hiski (a rare Finnish first name, derived from the Jewish name Hiskia)
Dil - Vili (diminutive of the name Vilhelm - Dil is a male in the Finnish dub)
Uncle Pterano - Eno Lentola ("Eno" [pronounced /EH-no/ not /ee-no/] means the maternal uncle/mother's brother. "Lento" means "flight", and the last syllable "-la" is a very common ending for surnames and locations in Finnish. Usually Finnish location names and surnames ending with "-la" are translated with the Swedish "-by" which means village, so by this logic his name would be "Flightville")

There are a lot of other characters with translated names but I have to re-watch the movies and look more into the TV series to make more claims. There might also be some errors in the names I listed, so there's a chance it's not 100% correct :').

Silver Screen / Re: If you could see a movie with alternate plot
« on: January 08, 2022, 06:46:26 AM »
In Star Wars, if Qui Gonn lived, and it would be interesting for me, what would happen, if Obi Wan joined Dooku in movie 2.

Those are some interesting points! Obi-Wan joining Dooku is something that has never crossed my mind. An interesting thought! I would've loved to see Anakin becoming Mace Windu's apprentice, as I think Windu has more in common with Anakin and he's more experienced than Obi-Wan was.

I don't know if there is a specific scene that I would change so the movie would take a different turn, but the movie plot I would alternate is the first Transformers movie by Michael Bay. The way I'd change it is making Michaela the main character and Bumblebee becomes "her car" and friend (considering that Michaela is the only character in the first two movies who actually knows about cars and is interested in them...). Besides, I think her backstory is far more interesting than Sam's - a teenage girl living on her own with her dad in prison, tired of people seeing her as just a piece of T&A when in reality she's very smart, brave and resourceful. And by extent, changing the first film changes the other remaining films as well. I don't know about 4th and 5th since it focuses on other human characters, but at least the first trilogy would be different.

I tried new types of sushi other than nigiri and a few types of norimaki. Didn't like the previous ones too much but the new types (can't remember them all, there were a lot, and they were all more or less spicy!) were super delicious c:

When was the last time you bought yourself something self-indulgent?

-- I'm just a little upset that they decided to make a 4th one, which I still haven't bothered to watch.

I don't know if you have watched it by now, but if you haven't, I don't think you're missing out on much. I watched it in the cinemas and later on Disney+ because my husband wanted to see it as well, and no matter how much I want to like that movie, it just doesn't have that Toy Story magic the other three have. TS3 was a perfect ending, and I consider the 4th film to be non-canon  :p

If you should rank the three Toy Story movies from your favorite to your least favorite, in what order would they be?

^ I would love to go travel to Watership Down as well! Speaking of the book, have you read the sequel, Tales from Watership Down? Or have you watched the movie or either one of the TV series (I think there's a cartoon and a Netflix animated show)?
