"We should stop at the armory. We might need heavier weapons." James said. "My shotgun is only effective against infantry. And remember, the hanger also has armored vehicles; we need to be able to destroy vehicles in case they are used against us."

"And I think it will take a lot more than rifle fire to destroy that bridge." Zachary added.

"You are right. We must have something with high firepower if we are to destroy any vehicles, as well as if we must disable the bridge itself. To the Armory."
He said dispassionately as he followed the team...

"There should be one near the back." James said.

"Wait! My gauss rifle!" Zachary exclaimed, unslinging it from his back.

"We should try the AWTR." Sharon said. "And that gauss rifle is designed to smash apart personnel armor not vehicle armor or structural material."

"We're running on borrowed time here, probably ten minutes at most," Shelton reminded everyone. "If you're cashing out rifles for RPGs do it fast!"

"10 minutes!" James shouted. "Screw the AWTR! Get to the armory!"

"Got it!" Zachary shouted. He handed the gauss rifle to James. "Take this. I'll use an RPG."

"But you haven't used one before?"

"When we rescued Shelton, I used a stolen bazooka, this isn't much different. We've got to hurry!"

James and Zachary then ran, at full speed, down the halls heading to the armory.

The Cobalt commander looked at his three men, all armed with rifles. "You!" he jabbed his finger at one. "With them! Grenade launcher!"

"Yes sir!" The man saluted, and jogged off after Zachary and James, entering the armory seconds after they did.

Zachary grabbed an RPG and several rockets. He also grabbed a bandolier and clipped several grenades to it.

James grabbed more shotgun shells.

Sharon reloaded her rifle and all of her magazines.

The Cobalt soldier slung his rifle across his back and loaded a grenade launcher. "Ready. Let's get back and head for the hangar."

Zachary, James and Sharon nodded.

"Let's rock." Zachary said.

The group then headed back to the hanger.

"I hope we have enough time." Sharon said.

"Once we destroy the bridge, we'll have all the time we need to kill the terrorists." James replied.

"Lucky us," replied Shelton.

?delwulf nodded, and raised his bayoneted shotgun in the air. "All right, men, listen up! Primary objective: destroy the bridge, secondary objective: punish the invaders, tertiary objective: protect the lives of the scientists who fight bravely by your side! Next stop, the main hangar! Hit them fast, and hit them hard!"

A battle cry roared from his followers, and with renewed force the charge for the hangar continued.

One of the terrorist officers was using a stolen laptop to monitor the actions of the base personnel. His jaw hit the ground as the sensors showed a large group heading towards them. He then switched his view to the cameras and saw the soldiers and the scientists heading towards the hanger.

He turned to one of the terrorist leaders. "Sir, the Pelvanida personnel are making an assault on the hanger and they have the sublevel guards with them."

The leader frowned and looked around. He noticed several armored vehicles, mostly armored Humvees and Stryker fighting vehicles, scattered around the hanger.

"Take control of the vehicles!" he commanded.

Several of the terrorists forced their way into the armored vehicles and started them. The roar of the diesel engines soon filled the hanger as they moved the vehicles into defensive positions.

"Close the hanger doors!"

One of the terrorists went over to the hanger door controls and tried to seal it.

The heavy doors closed partway and stopped.

"There's too much damage; we can't close the doors!" the terrorist shouted.

"Well, get ready to start shooting!" the leader ordered. He readied his own weapon, a stolen gauss rifle.

A faint yelling reached their ears. The terrorists were all starting to pay attention, but many were a bit unnerved.

But 'unnerved' probably isn't the right word to describe their expressions when a hoard of screaming Pelvanida personnel blasted into the hangar, guns blazing.

The shocked terrorists returned fire in earnest.

"Take out the bridge!" James shouted. He took aim with his shotgun and killed a terrorist.

Zachary, with Sharon providing cover, took aim with his RPG and fired a rocket at the bridge.

It hit the event horizon and disapeared.

"What the hell?" exclaimed Siberys, pushing terrorists out of the way with a flick of his hand. "What happened?"

"Incredible," breathed Shelton. Oblivous to the ensuing carnage, he stood stock still, staring at the bridge. "They did it. They actually built a portal capable of inter-dimensional travel! This is amazing!"

"Yeah, well, enjoy it while you can, 'cause we're blowing it up!" The Cobalt commander signaled his launcher-toting soldier while laying cover fire. The soldier launched a grenade, which barely missed the bridge.

"The good news is, with all the explosives going off around it the terrorists can't get through!" ?delwulf cried. "Reload!"

Sharon lay covering fire as James raised the gauss rifle to his eye and used the scope to shoot one of the gunners on a Humvee as he tried to aim at the Cobalt soldiers.

Zachary loaded another rocket and fired it at the bridge, this time he aimed it at the support structures around the portal. "How can we destroy that thing?"

"The frame! You have to hit the frame!" cried Shelton, jumping to the left as Joey sprinted past with a hunk of rebar. "Anything fired at the wormhole itself will shoot through like the first missile!"

"Sucks to be the dudes on the other end," commented a sublevel guard, firing at the end. His bullets merely caused dents in the frame's structure.

(OOC: do we want to destroy the bridge, or wait for Starfall to sap the thing's power? Remember that terrorist said it would only work for another twenty minutes.)

Zachary ducked behind an out of service APC as 20 mm cannon fire exploded against it. He reloaded his RPG and blew up the offending Stryker.

He loaded another rocket and fired it at the frame of the of the bridge.

Sharon and James were raking a terrorist contingent with gunfire. James ducked back down to reload. A terrorist threw a grenade at them but Sharon grabbed it and threw it back.

(OOC - I guess we could wait for Starfall.)

(OOC: yeah, the other RP'ers would probably like to get in on this action. They wouldn't be too pleased if we fight the whole battle without them.)

The first lieutenant fell to sniper fire. The second lieutenant took charge.

"Flank them, men! Divide into two groups, and come at them from both ends!"

The terrorists started to do so, but they were slow to execute the orders due to the heavy barrage of fire.

Shelton dove to the left, rolling behind the APC. "This is good," he told Zachary. "Long as we're fighting, the terrorists aren't thinking of escaping through the bridge. If we can hold out for five to ten minutes, the bridge will shut down due to lack of power!"

"Five to ten minutes?!?"

"Less, if Cale's helping to drain the energy!" Shelton cried, as another wave of fire flew over the downed carrier. "Not long though!"

"We're losing men fast!" cried ?delwulf, as the four sublevel guards around him fell to enemy fire. "We can't hold on much longer!"

"Once the bridge is destroyed, it doesn't matter what happens to us!" yelled the Cobalt commander.

Hans fired his shotgun taking down two terroeists before fireing a RPG round at one of the hummers.
