Collecting All LBT Images!

I've started a new project. It's not so much of an individual project as it is a group project. I've added a new photo gallery to my website where members can upload any LBT photos they wish. There are 398 images in there so far. If you have any LBT images you would like to contribute, please upload them. There is unlimited space so don't worry. If someone out there has a 20gb LBT image collection, please upload as much as you want.

Let's see how many LBT images we can get.

You must be registered in order to upload photos. However, the photos you upload will be attributed to you, so people know who uploaded each photo. Neat, huh?

Any images uploaded here will assist others in their LBT projects, provide LBT backgrounds for others to use, or just allow others to have cool images on their computers.

I like this a lot. Such a collection could come in handy for many projects (and may also be helpful to meet the many picture requests). I signed up (the confirmation email should arrive any moment) to upload what pictures I have. There are almost certainly identical images to be uploaded. Is there a way to divide the pictures into different folders (named for example after the sequels and TV episodes)? If thousands of pictures are to be collected there this might make it easier to find pictures of particular scenes or characters or the like.

I can create separate albums for each gallery, but as for adding folders I don't think that's possible yet. Sorry. I suppose I could create a bunch of separate albums, but then people would have to remember to select the right one when uploading and pictures would just end up everywhere. Heck, even I can't remember to select the category I want to put the pictures in. I think making new albums for every type of picture would be more confusing to people (both uploaders and browsers alike) then to have them all mashed together in one category. The photo gallery is still in Beta stage so I'm hoping folders will be a possibility soon. Then I'll spend the time to rearrange them. Until then though, every single image is just going to have to be in a single album with no folders. Yeah I know it sucks but it won't last forever.

Bad choice of words on my part. Different albums (not folders) are what I meant.
I guess albums named after the different sequels or episodes might be an option to make particular images easier to find if there are to be thousands and thousands of them.

True true, but as I said you must choose the album you wish to upload to and normally people just forget to do that. This will make say 10 albums that are totally mismarked. I don't think that's such a great idea. Of course, I could just change the name of the current album to "General LBT Photos" and add other albums such as "Characters" and sequel numbers. I'll try that soon. Can't right now though. I'm on reeeeeealy slow WIFI at the pizza place.

It was just a suggestion anyway. However, maybe GOF members are able to remember selecting albums, only the results would tell.

I've uploaded a couple of images there, but easy as it was, I could not withstand the temptation of creating individual albums for the different movies after all rather than putting all pictures in the same album. I really think with the number of pictures LBT fans might find it a lot easier to find what they are looking for if the pictures are arranged a bit and a filing by movie seems to be the easiest approach. I hope that many of you will participate and upload pictures to the albums. I think Austin started a project here from which LBT fans and projects can really benefit a lot and this will be ever more true, the more pictures are uploaded

I have no idea why, but for some reason most of the pictures I'm trying to upload are not uploaded properly but appear as errors with either the notification "Error #2038" or with a message reading just "500".

They seem to be having some trouble. Another message now coming up upon submitting uploaded pictures reads:

Oops! There was a temporary glitch with this application. We have been notified of the problem and will be repairing it. Please feel free to go back and try again.

Pictures uploaded before seem to be gone again when that message comes up. That's why the folders for LBT 7 and 9 are still empty so far.

Yesterday the site gave thesame 'oops' problem. I'm not sure what it is but I'm sure Austin can do something about it or it'll be taken care of automatically.

Yeah......as I said it's still in Beta. I got that error a few times too. I just had to retry. I wouldn't recommend trying to upload more than 100 photos at once. It'd suck to have to redo them all and wait all that time. Hopefully the problem will be fixed soon. Freewebs is pretty good at that.

EDIT: And thanks for making those albums Malte. I've been very busy lately and haven't been able to do much with my site. I will have to change the permissions for regular members to create albums though. That could be disastrous if I got a spammer. Once we figure out all the albums we're going to currently need, I'll make the permission to make new albums an "admins only" thing.

I agree that this would be perfectly sensible to prevent an outcropping of uncountable private albums for everyone who uploads pictures. I reckon an album for every movie would make sense though.
I wonder how many pictures people have of the TV episodes and if one for them all or one per episode would make sense (in the later case there would be 39 albums which may be a rather long list of albums).
On another note, I must stress that most of the screenshots I upload were not made by my, but were sent to me by many other GOF members over the years, so that credit goes to them.

I think a category for every character and every movie makes sense. So many people ask where they can find pictures of Chomper for instance. An album for every TV episode seems a bit excessive.....especially if a second season comes out. I can always modify it in the future of course.

I uploaded some more images today and I really want to encourage everyone to upload what images you have. This picture collection project could be helpful on very many occasions and projects (e.g. this year's awards session to begin with) and the more people contribute the more helpful it will be

I have one more suggestion Austin. Perhaps one more album should be created for the TV series images for those images which are not focused on one character in particular and are not from the original movie or the sequels either (I reckon many pictures would match those criteria).
