I found this on Red Claw and some other characters:
Red Claw
Red Claw is a male tyrannosaur who has a distinctive scar that that goes through his left eye. He is the prominent antagonist in the tv series.
Ruby
Ruby is a new friend of Littlefoot and his friends. She is a female orthoniaptor
Screech
Screech is one of the two velociraptor companions of Redclaw.
Two things to point out:
1. This is from wikipedia and hence, can be inaccurate.
2. Do you think that the scar on the left eye can mean anything? 1st movie's tyannosaurus? Note that this is all speculation and little of this is proven fact.

-
What channel?
-
Guess I missed it. :P: I suspect it was on Cartoon Network, Kacie.
-
If it was, it wasn't on the schedule anywhere, though I could doublecheck to be sure.
-
Checked out their website for the hell of it, and there was no mention of a LBT series on or scheduled on Cartoon Network. I thought that's where all the news said they'd be airing the show on but its not there....
-
Is YTV available in the US? Is anyone here Canadian?
-
No, YTV is not available in the USA as far as I'm concerned.
-
Oh well, I'm sure that Cartoon Network will pick it up sooner or later.
-
It was supposed to air on Cartoon Network first, or so the information said. There was never talk of YTV getting it at all.
I keep looking for updated articles on the TV show, but most of them date back to August 2005, and there's no word at all from the CN website about LBT. For all we know, YTV might be the only station to get it, and if that's true, then that'd really suck.
It seems Canadians have all the luck.
-
I don't see how it's possible that an American Cartoon won't be shown in America at any time. Sooner or later, some network in the U.S. will pick it up.
-
Sooner or later, some network in the U.S. will pick it up.
I don't like the sound of that.
If it was produced in USA, then USA should have been the first to get it. I have been waiting 2 years for it to premiere sometime in January, only to find out it was a lie, that Canada was gonna get it first.
But I am not doubting the possibility that the show will become a YTV exclusive. It just won't surprise me.
-
Here's an article that says the series will be on cartoon network:
www.bellaonline.com/ArticlesP/art25790.asp
-
I already saw that article. It's probably out-dated information, for all I know. Plus there's not even an approximate date or anything. Saying that it'll be released in 2007 isn't good enough, because I have known that for 2 years. It was supposed to air on Cartoon Network on Jan 2007, but apparently they decided to air it on YTV instead, which I don't see why they did.
-
Here's another:
www.timewarner.com/corp/newsroom/pr/0,20812,1168846,00.html
-
That article states that the series was supposed to air in winter of 2006. But it didn't.
If it means winter of 2007, I'll be furious.
-
Well, this is still winter. I suppose it could mean the winter which began in 2006...
-
Possibly.
I'm just frustrated how little information is available on the TV show itself. I'd love to see a picture of Red Claw.
-
Man! I can't believe we were kept in the dark like this!
Here's hoping that it'll air on Cartoon Network this month. Otherwise, I'll be incredibly furious! :mad
-
Is anyone of you going to record the series when it is shown?
-
Is YTV available in the US? Is anyone here Canadian?
Hey, I'm Canadian.
YTV is a canadian station, channel 20 in my location.
-
As for recording the series, I have no nice way to do so aside from setting up a digital camera in front of the screen.
And I missed the first episode, too :( i didn't know it was on already and I was gone all day.
The bad news is that the show comes up on Fridays around noon. There is no way I can catch that, with school . :cry That will end up being very unfortunate if it doesn't air on any other network, since nobody else here seems to have a chance to catch the show, either. Sadly, it will be impossible for me to be of any help with the show airing when it does.
was ANYONE here able to catch Episode 1 of LBT?
-
Okay, I have a potential solution to our problem!
I am going to invest in a TV tuner/recorder card for my computer, to allow me to record the shows when not at home!
If the admins will allow, I will post a temporary link (yousendit, likely) to download the video. This action still needs some discussion but it shouldn't be a huge concern.
-
^ Before you invest $$$ do make sure it actually aired in Canada first. ;)
As to, "it will hopefully appear in the US" it may not if nobody picks it up. It can happen...I'd be surprised they'd go so far and not have a backer, unless CN has backed out and they're trying to find someone else.
-
I checked YTV's listings and is does indeed have Land Before Time serries on it. :cry2 :mad No fair! :cry http://www.ytv.com/programming/shows/ (http://www.ytv.com/programming/shows/)
-
Not fair? Why not?
-
It's not fair because YTV is a Canada-only station and is not accessable to anyone in America, or anywhere outside of Canada.
-
I suspect its because they didn't get a US broadcast for it.
-
Did you check the website? They show Littlefoot and Ali
It's probably just a reference to LBT 4, or is it?
:^.^:
-
I've been thinking about this too. On the one hand the creator of that page doesn't seem to be an LBT expert, so the choice of the image may be arbitrary. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Ali make another appearance in the series. Of course I don't know and till we see it I'm afraid we can only speculate; which is what we've been doing all along.
-
Some info: Here's the wikipedia article on Chomper:
Chomper is a character in the Land Before Time films and TV series. He is a Tyrannosaurus, which is known as a sharptooth in the Land Before Time movies. He is bilingual, being able to speak both the herbivore language of Littlefoot and his friends (heard as English to the viewer), and the "Sharptooth" language of Tyrannosaurus, which seems to consist of grunts, roars, and clicks. Littlefoot and his friends originally found Chomper as an egg and took care of him as surrogate parents until he was found by his real parents. He left the Great Valley with them and was not seen again until The Land Before Time V: The Mysterious Island, where he was living on an island with his parents. Now that the landbridge which connected the island to the mainland has been destroyed, he and his parents cannot get off the island.
In the TV series, Chomper is accepted into the Great Valley and currently lives with Ruby in a cave. Chomper's parents told Ruby to take care of him.
-
Yeah, that's probably it, I'm not putting my hopes up. However, if you take a closer look that Ali isn't quite the same as the one on the cover of lbt 4. Picture from the series? Fanart? Or maybe just my imagination.
-
(Kind of missed Petrie's post, )
Ruby? Chomper living with Ruby? A sharptooth in the Great Valley? Hun?!
-
Well, it was from Wikipedia. As such, we have to take the info with a grain of salt.
As for the Ali seen in that photo, it could be the real deal. How?
Well, if we take a look at both LBT 2 and LBT 12, we can see quite a change in gang itself. This is the result of the slight changes the artists have made over the years. They were so small, we hardly noticed them. Only ones that are far apart make us notice such a difference.
Perhaps this is the result of the slight changes she would've experienced over the years if she was in LBT 5 and up.
Think of it as growing up. I highly doubt anyone around here looks like their baby picture. I bet there are those in their teens that look at their childhood photo and ask, "Was that what I looked like?"
I think it could be the result of how much Ali has grown. Besides, I do see some of the old Ali in that pic. This new Ali look will take some adjusting to. :)
-
Here's another thing from wikipedia to take with a grain of salt, but one which would explain a lot:
The Land Before Time is an animated television series, loosely based on characters from The Land Before Time film series drawn and written by Judy Freudberg and Tony Geiss. It is currently in development by Universal Animation Studios, and premiered on YTV in Canada on January 5, 2007. It is expected to premiere on Cartoon Network in the United States after the DVD release of The Land Before Time XII: The Great Day of the Flyers. It is made as traditionally-animated with computer-animated backgrounds, which the past sequels from The Land Before Time X: The Great Longneck Migration onwards have used. The main bad guys are Redclaw, a Tyrannosaurus, and two unamed Velociraptors.
Note that the release date of the twelth movie is February 27th.
The important thing is:
It is expected to premiere on Cartoon Network in the United States after the DVD release of The Land Before Time XII: The Great Day of the Flyers.
-
Sounds like somebody's having a fun time on wikipedia.
-
I didn't add or change anything on wikipedia, if that's what you mean.
-
I'm sure he didn't mean anything in that direction Noname. He was simply refering to earlier cases in which Wikipedia provided wishful thinking from fans, or simply false information rather than facts.
At least the presence of Chomper in the series is a definite fact. Aria mentioned this several times and some of us received a photo from the cast of the TV series including the future voice of Chomper.
While everything at Wikipedia must be taken, as you say, with a grain of salt (interesting phrase I didn't know before) there may possibly be some substance to the claim.
We shall see.
-
Check that! Turns out the picture of Ali is the same as the one on LBT 4's new cover. When they re-released it on DVD
(http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000087EY7.01._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)
-
That's correct. While some of the info on wikipedia is truthful, anyone can edit it, so anyone can put in false information. For example, the whole Chomper living in the Great Valley with Ruby could be false, but it could have been confirmed by a Canadian viewer who saw the first episode. I guess we won't know until official confirmation comes out.
-
^ That part about Chomper in the valley is what I don't get...he's marooned on an island. That's why I think somebody was having a fun time on wikipedia.
(And no I wasn't implying you made the changes, noname. Sorry.)
-

And add in the fact that Sharpteeth aren't allowed in the valley.
I don't believe it. Sorry! :^.^:
-
Maybe it's a secret cave?
-
If Chomper really does live in the Great Valley, then perhaps the first episode will provide an explaination as to why he's there, and whether or not he's really accepted or just hiding out to be close to his leaf-eating pals.
-
I'm afraid the phrase "loosely based on characters from The Land Before Time film series" might be meant to mean really LOOSELY based. The presence of Chomper in the series is a fact. Everything beyond that (even the question whether or not he will be permanently present) is speculation. I don't mean to spread any rumors, but at least I wouldn't expect it to be beyond the creators of the series to make Chomper a permanent resident of the Great Valley. A land before time magazine of which four issues where published over here before it was discontinued included some land before time comics and short stories which presupposed Chomper to be a permanent resident of the Valley. I don't expect (again this is mere speculation) they will give an explanation for Chomper's leaving of the island. I hope there will be some explanation on how the other dinosaurs in the Great Valley get used to Chomper. It's difficult to imagine "Topsy" getting used to a Sharptooth living in the Great Valley, not to mention his daughter befriending a Sharptooth.
I'm afraid (gee, with all the things I'm afraid of one might get the impression I'm positively terrified ;)) Chomper's being a carnivore might be even more downplayed than it was the case in the movies :(
-
Just giving you guys a heads up: I did a basic LBT search on amazon.com, and got 2 results that seem to indicate that the series will be released on the same disks as the curious george series. All I found on the pages themselves was the title. The release date was march 20th (possibly after the last episode of the series has been shown). Here's my links:
Amazon Pre-order page 1 (http://www.amazon.com/Curious-George-Land-Before-Time/dp/B000MGBLKU/sr=1-2/qid=1168489575/ref=sr_1_2/002-6739473-6137661?ie=UTF8&s=dvd)

I will try to find out more info.
-
Pardon my ignorance, but what is Curious George?
-
A funny monkey.
-
Oh, by the way, the next episode of the series will be on at 12:00 p.m. tomorrow on YTV... in Canada.
-
Is there anyway to watch it? Is there a website that shows YTV?
-
I think someone else on this site is taping it and will show it in some kind of temporary link... or at the least will tell us what the episode was about.
See action9000's quote: (From the information on the series section.)
Okay, I have a potential solution to our problem!

I haven't found any website with so much as a single picture from the tv series, no episode information, no nothing. And the YTV site provides such little information itself.
You mean Action9000? I know he lives in Canada and can see the show.
-
Yes, thank you. He said something about taping the show. Even if he can't post it on the internet, he can at least tell us what it was about.
-
Yep, I'm all set to record the show. if at all possible, I'll share the episodes but it will depend if I can figure out a way to make the videos into a format that I can share (aka. a format that isnt' proprietary to my equipment).
Worst case scenario, I can set up a digital camera to video the episode playing on my computer, so there is a very high chance that I'll be able to get the episodes to everyone here! B)
Unfortunately I completely missed episode 1 but I'll keep a lookout for it, in case I can find it showing again.
-
If you can't show the episode, can you at least post a synopsis of it on this site?
-
I've known episode guides to take quite some time to make. The one's on Serebii for Pokemon have been known for coming several weeks later. These kinds of people put alot of time and effort into what they write. They also hold a college like lifestyle.
Knowing Action9000 here to hold the same problem, I bet even if he did write one up, it would take several weeks to finish. When it comes to wanting an episode guide, you really need patience.
Just thought I'd point that out. :^.^:
-
But I'd be happy with a simple synbiosis of an episode. I'm not looking for an in-depth description, just a simple plot would do. But I can't even find that.
-
Crap! They're playing the series already! Man, I've missed out. Wasn't it also supposed to play on Cartoon Network? I have that and ought to be able to see the series, too.
Yeah, you don't need to make a whole on episode analysis, just tell what it was basically about and what you thought of it. Was it good?
-
Yes it was supposed to air on Cartoon Network, but YTV got it first. There is rumor stating that the series will premire on Cartoon Network next month, around the release of the 12th movie.
-

I am willing to write up brief synopses of the episodes, which won't take much time to write. I'll write up the first one tomorrow, once I get home and watch the recorded episode! Right now, I'm working on a way to compress the video to a small enough size that I can share it. My TV recording software records in an almost uncompressed .MPEG format, which will make each episode over 1 GB! :o
I should be able to compress it with a bit of effort but I"m still hunting around for tools to help me with that. I'm currently downloading Premiere Pro, which should be able to handle this nicely enough (I'm suddenly very thankful I have a lot of memory in my computer, working with videos this large!) B) With any luck, it will be downloaded by tomorrow when I get home.

I noticed that as well.

^ Tim, you have a Windows computer. Download Windows Media Encoder 9 series....then you should be able to get something small enough to give to the group. Doesn't matter that it'll make a propietary file out of it...we shouldn't be wanting to do anything with it anyway. :p

Great, we're relying on a rumor that's presented on Wikipedia, one of the #1 "most unreliable websites in the world".
Oh well, if nothing else, there will always be DVD sales to look forward to. But I imagine that it will be available somewhere other than Canadian TV.
-
Great, we're relying on a rumor that's presented on Wikipedia, one of the #1 "most unreliable websites in the world.
Ain't it the truth. XD
I just hope it does air on CN. I'm not sure if I mentioned this or not, but the other week during the holidays each day they showed a LBT movie (the newer ones at 10: 30 in the morning) I'm not sure if CN just did it for show or maybe they were doing it for a reason relating to either LBT12 or the series. That I honestly don't know, but here's hoping for the best.
-
I would imagine CN had a reason, then, because they rarely "just show movies", unless its to get the audience ready for something upcoming or because its a certain date on the calendar.
As for which one they're doing it for: it could be for both, they could be playingon showing LBT12, first, then moving on to the series. That would make sense.
-
WR, is right. I believe they only show Cartoon Network movies on Friday mornings, we're talking about all 5 days of the week. Maybe something really is coming.
-
One can only hope.
-
The episode that we have is evidently the THIRD one. On the first day, we missed TWO episodes (at least according to wikipedia.)
This is what wikipedia said:
1 January 5, 2007 The Cave of Many Voices
Chomper's secret cave in the Great Valley becomes leaky and the Gang goes exploring in the deep caves to search for another suitable cave for Chomper to live in. Meanwhile, Ruby teaches Ducky how to act and talk big. The song Adventuring is reprised.
2 January 5, 2007 The Mysterious Tooth Crisis When Chomper loses his tooth, he and Gang decide to travel around the Great Valley to figure out what is wrong. Meanwhile, Cera, Spike and Ruby relax in Tria's secret mud spa. There are no songs in this episode.
3 January 12, 2007 The Star Day Celebration Ruby misses her family on her "Star Day" (a.k.a. birthday) and the Gang tries to help cheer her up by being true friends and bringing Ruby her favorite food.
Remember, this is wikipedia; what we see has to be considered carefully.
Also, in episode one, we probably learn about how Chomper and Ruby have come to be in the valley, and in the second episode, when the caption says "spa", it probably means "hole."
-
Aw, nuts.
"Star Day"? Wasn't it called "Hatching Day" in the movies?
-
Aw, nuts.
"Star Day"? Wasn't it called "Hatching Day" in the movies?
I thought it was originally called Hatching Day, too. But I think the animated series is meant to be only lightly based off of the movies, so that could explain it. Slightly.
-
Only wikipedia describes it as "lightly based." So far, what we've seen sugests that it is directly based due to the references to previous movies, appearence of movie characters outside of the original five chracters and their close relations, etc, reappearances of movie landmark(s), and probably other things that I forgot.
-
I wonder who's editing the LBT stuff....
