It's a shame you have to leave the project, Rainbow, but I respect your decision.  I also recently started a part-time job and can't spend nearly as much time editing as I had been previously, but I'm still devoted to everything that lies ahead.

I was going to leave it at just Petrie's mom for this project since I'm not sure just how much I can switch up my voice, but if there are any gaps within the female roles I can maybe try and put another audition in sometime? Or I can try and do some one-liners if that helps? I'm free most weekends now and hopefully when I start my training for my new job I'll be in a hotel room so I'll have a fair bit of privacy.

I'm not sure if I ever talked about this with Mumbling, but we may have originally planned to have just one character per cast member, but if it becomes necessary, we could potentially try out having one cast member voicing two or more characters if we can't get a large enough cast assembled.  I'll bring this up with Mumbling when I get a chance.

R.I.P. Will. The original Petrie will be sorely missed by all in the Land Before Time community. He helped bring Petrie to life and will forever be remembered for bringing our favorite Flyer up into the skies.  :(petrie

Character Showcase / Re: Mama Flyer Showcase - November 2021
« on: November 15, 2021, 05:54:23 PM »
Ah, yes. This parent I've focused on more than any other parent in the series, given my numerous fanfics that focus on her family's history of struggles, from her mate's disappearance and her brother's misdeeds, to having to raise her children alone.  In spite of these possibilities being among her hardships, she does such a fantastic job at raising Petrie and his siblings despite their antics, particularly Petrie himself, and she brings a somewhat serious but otherwise warm presence when she soars into the picture.  IMO, Mama Swimmer is the warmest parent in the entire series, but Mama Flyer comes in a very close second (not counting Littlefoot's mother because she didn't even survive the first 30 minutes of the first film), given her warm, unconditional love for Petrie in spite of his early flying troubles and recurring disobedience, which is especially shown in the 12th film.

1.  Being a single mother of several flyer children has to be a herculean task for Mama Flyer, especially when one considers the antics that Petrie and his friends get up to on a regular basis. What are your thoughts of her parenting style, based upon what we have seen in the films and the television series?

Disregard the fact that none of the Elders seem to be able to keep their children in line, and you might find that Mama Flyer is an extremely devoted mother. It may be difficult to look after multiple children, especially Petrie, but she loves each and every one of her children and would do anything to make them happy, such as when she tried in vain to put a smile on a self-loathing Petrie during his failed practice flights or when she willingly put herself in harm's way just to rescue Petrie's precious snuggling stick. Her love for her son only left us praising her for her ability to be a warm motherly figure, and left us begging for more given how little we see of her.

2.  Do you think the fact that Petrie and his friends found the valley on their own has affected how Mama Flyer handles Petrie in relation to his non-flyer friends? For example, we do not see the same skepticism in relation to them as we see in Cera’s dad (though, in fairness, he is an extreme example).

We never got any glimpses into Petrie's possibly rough upbringing prior to the Earth Shake, but I can assume that Mama Flyer secretly had a good heart towards many plant-eating children during those painful years and wished she could do something to change the world. Littlefoot's mother, I'm sure, had that same mindset, and it's very possible that Ducky's mother did, too, given the warm kindness she gives to all her daughter's friends. She may find it difficult to trust Petrie's friends from time to time given how many times they sneak out of the valley, but given that these kids were responsible for forever changing Petrie's life for the better, she has a big heart towards all of them. I can't really say for sure how skeptical she may have been towards Chomper and Ruby being welcomed into the valley, but the fact that Chomper would later save her life sure cemented her faith in Petrie's judgment when it comes to making friends of all sorts. :)petrie

3.  There are many unanswered questions concerning Mama Flyer in the series, such as: “What happened to her mate?” and “Is this her first clutch of children, or has she had clutches in the past?”. Do you have your own preferred head-canon on those or other unanswered questions?

In my head-canon, her mate died just a day after the children hatched, trying in vain to find a safe new haven for the sake of the family's future. As such, I believe that Petrie and his siblings were Mama Flyer's only clutch (I gave Petrie four siblings in my fanfics).  Henceforth, Pterano had to help her sister raise her children, which became quite a challenge when Petrie's cowardice and inability to fly brought the family shame and humiliation. Of course, that ended up being all for naught after Pterano's own fall from grace. :opetrie I'm sure we all have many unanswered questions about Mama Flyer, but those regarding her family's unfortunate past are just the tip of the iceberg.

My mistake. I had to double check the files in my project folder. Yes, jassy did audition for Cera.

Oh, and yes, I did render an audition video for her and I'm sure you can find that in here. https://www.gangoffive.net/index.php?topic=17121.0

Hi! :)petrie Since additional tryouts have been sent in since you last updated this list, I was wondering if my role as Cera still stands or not. Let me know, I will be happy with wherever you decide to put me!

Last time I checked, nobody else has auditioned for Cera yet, so as it stands, you're still our only candidate so far.

@Sapphirre98 I'd like to say thanks for sending the auditions, but I've run into a small problem. I received .aup files that Audacity will not accept, and there's no way I can use those in Vegas. If it's not too much to ask, could you please send them again in either .wav or .mp3 format? It'd be much appreciated.

Saurus Rock: Member Hall of Fame / Award Voting 2021
« on: September 09, 2021, 04:43:07 PM »
Well, after spending several days contemplating my thoughts concerning these awards, vote time! :)petrie

Fanart: I wasn't very active in even browsing fanart very much this year, but among the few that I did stumble upon over the last nine months really caught my eye, particularly Flathead770. His artistic side continues to shine on all of us with his truly fascinating drawings he's submitted for the prompts this year, and they certainly caught my interest as well.  I'd just like to give an honorable mention to DarkWolf91 for her gorgeous pieces of art that blend the characters and backgrounds so well that it's hard to tell if it's fanart or source material.

Feedback: Considering I took a year off from my fanfiction shenanigans, this one ended up very difficult for me ... for a while.  However, there ended up being one person who really helped guide me through the process when I took over as editor for our VO projects: Mumbling.  Even though I had the technical advantage in terms of material at my disposal, I at first struggled to get the hang of how I was going to deal with editing, especially when it came to sharing large files that would have been too large to share on Discord, but she steadily helped me improve over time, and we've had good conversations on carefully selecting potential cast members to make this project sound as good as it can possibly get. I owe so many thanks to her for her helpful feedback, otherwise the progress we've made would be nowhere near the stage it's in now. :)petrie

Friendly Member: I'm gonna have to give this one to The Lone Dragon.  He and I have become very close this year with our Discord conversations, and he's become a very fun person to talk to whenever I need someone to have a nice chat with before going to bed.  Argh, time zones!  Honorable mention to Mumbling as well.

LBT Discussion: I rarely, if ever, join in the LBT discussions on the forum, so I am sadly gonna have to skip this one. Sorry. :(petrie

Helpful Member: There is absolutely no question that I'm giving my vote to Mumbling, again for guiding me through the difficulties of editing the VO project.  Had it not been for her introducing me to WeTransfer as a substitute for Discord or trying to dodge the evil copyright police on YouTube that has practically destroyed most of my video prospects, I'd have no clue how I'd manage to get potential cast members' voices added to the project.  She has been such a great help and I again can't thank her enough for her kind and encouraging feedback.

Proactive: This is a rather tricky one. As much as I am humbled for the appreciation you guys have given me for my tireless work on the VO project, I need to maintain my sense of honor and go beyond that to give thanks to someone who has kept this community alive during a troubling time that our world is still facing.  If it weren't for him, I don't think any of us would be here sharing our love for The Land Before Time ... rhombus.  He has done a fantastic job of keeping our community alive in spite of the challenges he's had to face in the world outside the GoF.  We've all had to overcome adversities in the real world since this pandemic began, but rhombus has continued to provide us with a place where we can all just escape from reality for just a few minutes to enjoy a community where Land Before Time fans can unite and share their passion for the beloved franchise, and I hope he keeps up the good work in the years to come. :)petrie

Character Showcase / Re: Mama Swimmer Showcase - August 2021
« on: August 02, 2021, 03:10:17 PM »
I would agree with everyone else and say she is a Saurolophus.

Ah, in my opinion, the warmest mother figure of the entire franchise, unless you count Littlefoot's, who sadly didn't last very long.  There's something about her that really wins your heart over and gets you to accept her as a warm and fuzzy supportive character, which is especially evident in The Big Freeze.  We see her playing around with her kids from time to time, which we don't really see any other parent doing, she gives out warm vibes with her kind and soothing presence around the children, and let's not forget how open she is to ALL the kids, given the fact that she readily adopted Spike for the sake of her beloved Ducky.  Mama Flyer is also a warm motherly figure, but Mama Swimmer takes it to a different level.  She's proven herself to be the perfect mother that any young child would dream of having, and Ducky should be ecstatic to have such a loving mother like her who brought her into the world and playfully dotes over her.  She has that type of charm that the other parents seem to lack, for the most part.  Littlefoot's grandparents are wise and clever, Topps is, well, who he is, and Mama Flyer is a bit of a serious but warm figure, but Mama Swimmer takes the icing on the cake. :duckyhappy Yep, yep, yep!

Do you think a Diddy Kong Racing II will ever be developed?

Tbh, I kinda doubt it.  With Nintendo and Rare having parted ways nearly 20 years ago, it's safe to say Nintendo probably wouldn't give Diddy that much stardom these days.

What is your opinion of Klaptrap?

Not much of an opinion, really. Besides, I don't really play the games much these days.
