I haven’t watched the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic episode yet. I don’t really want to. From what everyone is saying, it’s just going to do nothing but trigger rage from me. And I’m already pissed off at what I’ve been told.

So the grey pegasus with lopsided eyes is now offically called “derpy” and has a slurred speech. This is so fucking ablest, I can’t even believe that this is actually on a children’s program. Do you know what this is going to do? It’s going to encourage able bodied children that it’s ok to be ablest and that it’s ok to laugh at other children with disabilities. Don’t we get enough of this shit with bullies endlessly hurting and making fun of children who are queer? This needs to stop. It’s not funny, it’s hurtful. Also, fuck you fandom for encouraging the creators to do this shit.

I’m done with this show. I’m done. Until Lauren Faust and the rest of the creators get rid of this episode, change the pegasus’ name to Ditzy Doo and make a legitimate apology, I’m no longer watching any more of the new episodes. As someone who has Asperger’s Syndrome and has been called “retarded” before, this fucking hurts me.

It’s obvious that the creators don’t care about people with disabilities. They don’t care that children with disabilities have watched this episode and are crushed that one of their favorite shows is now mocking and laughing at them. I really want to make a petition or send letters to the creators but I highly doubt they’ll listen or they’ll just say we’re being too sensitive or some shit.

Read this rant. Overanalyzing too much?
Way too much. It's almost bordering on the "Pokemon encourages children to keep demonic animal familiars" or "Harry Potter encourags children to dabble in the occult" overanalysis.

In fact I saw a video a while back that actually predicted that it was only a matter of time before the PC-extremists got their claws on this show (Though his prediction involved peopls accusing cutie marks encouraging children to get buttock-tattoos)

I encourage y'all to go ahed and sign this here petition. It might not help, but it's worth a try.

I got there first, mate!

Another pretty awesome episode! Looks like it was less of an Applejack episode and more of an Apple Family in general, episode. And I like that, the Apple Family are a great group of characters.
So, the antagonists in this case are the Flim Flam brothers, who are pretty much a parody of every snake-oil salesman ever. Their voices and mannerisms are spot on, and their accompanying song was probably the longest song in the series so far, and definitely a good one!
It's also good to finally see Big Mac getting a line other than eyyup or nnnope, even if t was just "No deal!".
It was heartwarming to see all the mane six working together to try to save the farm, bringing to mind so many classic underdog stories of familes and friends banding together to save part of the community.
As always, animation was great, voices were great (even more background characters get new voices, including BonBon! Seriously, how many voices does that girl have?!), and the moral was nice, though it was an interesting twist that Applejack didn't learn it, as much as she already knew it and simpy relayed it to Celestia.

All in all, a solid episode with a kickass song.

My concensus on the episode?

I thought it was pretty good. Though the Apple family aren't exactly my favourite characters, it was nice to see some more development their way. Not to mention, giving us one of the coolest shots of Big macintosh ever:

Though I have to admit, I think they did Granny Smith's embarassing behaviour a little too well. Watching her throughout the first half was downright cringeworthy. Still, it made up for it in the last third, with the awesome story about Ponyville's founding. Was there anybody else who just loved the music at the very end of te story? Real epic stuff. I hope somebody isolates that music for us to enjoy sometime.

So in conclusion, awkward fist half, but a great payoff at the end. And yes, Granny Smith was hilarious.

Well, 2012 is gonna be a pretty big year for me. It's the year when I graduate from secondary school and, hopefully, go into a foundation course at art school.

But otherwise, the only major thing I'll be doing is laughing at the 2012-apocalypse crowd.

Just downloaded the new Nightwish album (it's only available to purchase in Europe at the moment, still waiting for it in Canada).. and holy crap, is it amazing!

I'm absolutely in love with this album, I can't shut it off and have forced myself to burn a new CD for my car. :p

Specifically, my favorite tracks from the new album, Imaginaerum, are

Ghost River (So much energy, it's ridiculous! :D)

Storytime (again with the epicness and quick, powerful vocal parts)

Song of Myself (while hard to justify burning for a car stereo due to the ~6 minutes of spoken word at the end of the time, still a wonderfully powerful piece)

The Crow, the Owl and the Dove (somehow I just love the sound and presentation of this softer, yet beautifully elegantly-performed song)

Imaginaerum - This instrumental title track is just a masterpiece of symphonic rock without vocals, and a beautiful summary of the album.

Rest Calm (Gorgeous vocal parts with a rugged edge, just such a memorable melody, carried over into Imaginaerum, along with the rest of the album.)

This whole album just has a level of presentation I've never heard before. It gives me a reborn respect to the symphonic metal genre. Absolutely FANTASTIC! :D
Agreed. Imaginaerium is, IMO, the best new album of this year. Here is my own track-by-track rundown:

Taikatalvi- Very creepy and ambient intro track. It kinda makes me wish I understood Finnish. The way it segues into the next track is flawless too.

Storytime- Bombastic, heavy, dramatic, a great opener to get the listener on board! The music video is pretty cool to. It's nice to see Nightwish steering away from their usual melancholy music and going for something a bit more...Tim-Burton style creepy.

Ghost River- Even heavier and more powerful, very creepy and it's nice to hear Annette going for vocals that are a little less pop-ish. The energy and brutality in this track is stunning!

Slow Love Slow- And now for something completely different, indeed! After 2 heavy, brutal songs, we then get...Late Night jazz. Surprisingly, gothic-late-night-jazz-metal (Never thought I'd say that) works remarkably well.

I Want My Tears Back- The sudden transition from the previous song to this one makes me jump every time. More like their old stuff than the other tracks, this is a solid song with a catchy melody and a toe-tapping beat.

Scaretale- When Tuomas said this track was like being on a rollercoaster, he wasn't kidding. This track is exhilarating, terrifying and ridiculously epic, all at once. Those singing children at the beginning were sooo creepy! And the whole spoky-carnival theme of the song was a nice chilling touch.

Arabesque- A little instrumental interlude here, with an Arabian sound. Personally, my least favourite track, but it still holds up alongside the others, sounding more like a film score than anything else.

Turn Loose The Mermaids- This is an odd one. It starts off similar to some sort of celtic ballad, then segues into something out of a spaghetti western movie! And ye, somehow, it works well. The melody is lovely, the beat is very drummable, all round a very nice song.

Rest Calm- Another song that sounds very much like older Nightwish songs. But it still works well, with a very catchy melody and brilliant vocals and orchestral backing.

The Owl, The Crow and The Dove- I originally did not like this one very much, but after a few listens, it really grew on me. The duet vocals are nice an the transitions from acoustic to heavy were flawless.

Last Ride Of The Day- Another obvious spooky-carnival song with speed, heaviness, epic power and one of the more catchy choruses.

Song of Myself- My God...Simply amazing. It does not have the catchy chorus or fantastic melody of the previous tracks, but it makes up for it with its sheer scale and size. 13 minutes of sheer epicness! The last half is interesting, since it becomes a reading of a strange, and rather depressing Walt Whitman poem, recited by an assortment of different voices.

Imaginaerium- The finale outro, which is essentially an orchestral medley of the previous songs on the album. It really makes the different songs fuse together well, and definitely has the feel of end-credits (which is its intended use in the upcoming Imaginaerium film)

So yeah, as you can guess, I'm a pretty big Nightwish fan.

Well, you may be interested to learn that the latest episode title to be released is called "The Last Roundup". I'm a-guessin' it's gonna be an Applejack episode

Those Windigos....geez, I just can't get over how bloody scary those things are.  I mean, they feed off the hatred and stuff of other ponies by freezing them in the end.  And it seems that they're still hanging around Equestria and weren't truly defeated back in the cave.
True to the classic "Eldritch Abomination": They cannot be defeated outright. They can only be pushed back once more.

Although the way I look at it, it's not that they weren't completely defeated. From what I saw, at least 2 of the Windigos were destroyed by the Fire of Friendship, sine you clearly see 2 of them writhing and screaming as they are immolated (You know, for kids!). But what about the third one? Well, ther was that screech at the end. My guess is that somewhere in Equestria, the last of the Windigos is still prowling about, waiting to strike and bring about a new ice age.

But what I like about them, like I said earlier, is that unlike almost all the other monsters and villains in the show, they were pure monsters. No goofy part to them, no personality change (No personality at all, if you ask me, just pure monster), no redemption. They are the closest this series has come to a Complete Monster.

Who spotted Derpy in the episode?
Gotta say her appearance this episode was easier to spot than others. And speaking of which, according to The Hub's facebook page, Derpy is now officially her canon name!

As for my thoughts on this episode, it was nice to see some backstory, even though it was honestly rather predictable. Pinkie, Rarity and Rainbow Dash were totally overplayed and a little flanderised in this episode, but the way I see it, this is because they were playing other characters who were just similar to themselves.
And while the whole story of the play was kinda cheesy, as well as much of the dialogue, once again I feel we can hoof-wave this because it was all a pageant play.
I also thought that the designs and ideas behind the Windigos was pretty cool. Not to mention they are one of the few monsters on the show that have been given a completely non-goofy appearance. Think about it, the cockatrice, the hydra, the ursa, the red dragon, Discord, they all were evil, but kinda goofy at the same time. The only truly monstrous monster in the show prior to this episode was the green dragon (Reginald, I think his name is). Those Windigos looked awesome, had a terrifying sound, and were generally a clever idea.
I also did like how they were defeated by the so-called Fire of Friendship. I was glad that there was more love-influenced magic in the show apart from just the Elements of Harmony.

My only real complaint about this episode was the song, for 2 reasons:

1. It was far too short. It was barely 30 seconds! Pinkie Pie can get away with such spontaneity, but a hugeass crowd song like this should at least have 2 verses and a chorus!

2. The singing voices: Apart from their lips moving, there was no indication that the mane 6 were actually singing. Among the choir of voices, there was no sign of their singing voices.

But for such a short song, it was really charming and a nice way to round off the episode. All in all, while the story and dialogue maynot have always been perfect, the humour made up for it, and I finished it with a warm feeling inside me. I always love holiday specials.

It also helped that I watched it with about a dozen other bronies and pegasistas.

Why?
My guess is that it was meant to show the difference between the harsh outside world and the Great Valley. If you look carefully, you can see that the colours of every character become brighter and more colourful in the Valley when compared to previously in the film. So, I'm guessing that the lavender-grey colour is Topps' real colour, and he only appeared dark brownish-grey previously because of the harsh orange lighting outside the Valley

A little tweet from Pinkie Pie's singing actor gives us some interesting news for the Holiday Episode.

Yep!  Another song on the way, but can it top "Winter Wrap-Up"?  We shall see. :)
Well, for one thing, Winter Wrap Up was more of an end-of-winter song. It'll be awesome to hear some winter-themed music. I was actually just thinking a while back that the show was in dire need for xmas/winter music.

Actually, come to think of it, is there anything that says with absolution that this song is in the Hearth's Warming Eve episode?

In pony related material, what do you all think of a Sweetie Belle and Pip Shipping story? :) (I'm thinking of making one.)
I can sorta see that happening, to be honest. Just be sure to be careful about foalshipping. I've seen it done well before (Snails and Twist was the pairing in question. The adorkability meter exploded), but also really REALLY badly.

Well, here's my thoughts on the new episode (Spoilers ahead!): Not necessarily a review, just thoughts:

Nice to see Canterlot as a city being fleshed out, rather than just being a hugeass castle.

The accents and dialects of those Canterlot ponies were just ridiculous. I struggled to not laugh every time one of them spoke.

Another song! Extremely short, but very cool, to be honest. A nice change from the usual musical fare, wherein it is usually ridiculously epic and grand, or kinda humble and quirky. A pleasant inbetween.

Did anyone notice that it seemed like Luna was the commentator for the Derby?

FancyPants = Ponified Good-Guy Greg, definitely soon to become a fan favourite. His voice actor sounds soooo familiar...also, I'm a bit intrigued by his his arm (foreleg?) candy in his intro scene. Yet another unique character design, almost like pink-haired Celestia with no wings.

Some of the new gadgets! Steampunk airships are now canon it appears, and I freaking want that Party Cannon.

All in all, another solid episode. Thus far, this season has failed to dissapoint, with a few minor exceptions (For me, Cutie Pox just seemed like a bit of a weak episode)

The series is no better or worse than it was before. That's my say on this.

EDIT: Also, you DO realize that this is a fan site dedicated to a series about singing dinosaurs, right, landbeforetimelover? There's a ton of singing in LBT. What's so wrong with singing in MLP? I'm not being a jerk here. I just find the statement "I'm glad there hasn't been much singing in MLP S2" odd coming from a Land Before Time fan.
Ditto. To me, the songs are really what makes the show. One would honestly be very hard pressed to find a show on nowadays that has musical numbersof this scope and quality...In fact, this side of 2000, the only show I can think of with songs as catchy and good as these, is Phineas and Ferb. The songs in FiM just add so much more to it. Granted, some of Pinkie's little 1-minute wonders can be a tad annoying, but when you look at the big songs, they are spectacular!

Winter Wrap-Up- showstopper with impressive dual-harmony vocals and a very intriguing opening. Not to mention a melody that is impossible to get out of your head.

Art of the Dress- Like something straight out of a movie musical. Also, reprises make anything awesome.

At The Gala- 20 person choir. Into The Woods parody. That is all.

Find A Pet- IMO, the most impressive song so far. Not only does it take such a mundane task as choosing a pet and made it into a full-blown orchestral song, but the song itself, rather than being a showstopper that makes the story pause while it goes on, actually progresses the story itself. In that sense, it's almost like a bit out of a theatrical musical or even an opera!

Also, the songs serve as a very good way to see the difference from e other previous shows and movis, wherein the songs usualy ranged from annoying but catchy, to uninspiring and forgettable, to bland and trite, to just plain stupid.

And yes, I have to agree that neither season 1 or 2 is better to me, at least storywise. However, animation wise, S2 is an improvement: The studios had all of season 1 to experiment with the animation style, but were still a little tight about it all. S2's animation is much more loose and free, and much more cartoony. That makes it, to me at least, much better.

Oh, now I had one hell of a dream last night. Sadly, I've almost completely forgotten it.

All I remember about it is that it involved a door that opened to a different timeline each time it opens. As best I can recall, I was with some friends, among them Twilight Sparkle and Fluttershy, in some sort of big castle or manor or something, and Twilight and I walk through this big wooden door and see tonnes of people in old fashioned clothes, working like old Victorian servants. When I look back at the doorway, there is nobody else in the hall where I came from. Then it closes and opens again and again and again, and on the third time, it opened and more Victorian people were through the doorway on the other side. Eventually some of my other friends get through to the same time period as me, asking where I went, claiming that they opened the door over and over again to try to find me. So we walk around among the Victorian people, but none of them notice us, like we're ghosts or something.

Needless to say, it was awesome. I dunno why, but I remember waking up and thinking that it was awesome. I guess there are some other bits here and there that I forgot.

Ladies and gentlemen, I hereby present ou with the living proof that bronies are the single most dedicated and creative fandom in all of existence:

My Little Orchestra- Friendship Symphony no.1 in D Minor

Yep. Somepony literally took an assortment of songs from season 1 and converted them into 1 huge orchestral piece. And it honestly sounds bloody realistic too!

On another note, I now have another two friends converted: one has already worked her way through season 1 since last Wenesday, and the other, who is newer to it, is now actively seeking out the episodes I haven't shown him yet.

I also just finished this today. What do you think?
