OOC Thread

The earth grew hot and heavy, the sun stretching its long reach across the open, cloudless sky, the sea lapping against the sandy shore like a sloppy wet kiss. There, upon a sun bleached rock, settled a lone flyer. His head lifted to the sky listlessly, eyes screwed tightly shut as he took in the cool, salty breeze. For just a moment, he wondered if he heard his name being called from behind, off toward the forest, but he was far too busy to call back. He had a fish to catch...

Without a moment to waste, the scrawny pterosaur stood on all fours and leered over the edge of his sunbathing rock. He hadn't spotted any movement below the water's edge in some time, and his belly was starting to rumble. Perhaps it was time to stir the pot! With a little chuff, he clacked his beak, fluffed up his feathers, and leapt off into the air, pushing himself into the sky.

Up, up he flew, until suddenly his beak bent down, and he darted toward the ocean below him.

Ker-PLOOSH. He had disappeared beneath the waves.

There, in the murky blue water, he wavered a moment, his wings being used like fins to push him about toward the smaller fish flittering away from him. He wasn't fast, nor was he graceful, but with a few sloppy chomps the flyer had secured a premature arapaima. Without another thought, he rushed toward the surface.

His crest was the first thing to break it, splashing about frantically as he nearly sucked the fish down his throat straight into his lungs. He coughed and sputtered, spitting it out, before catching it again in the air and cackling to himself.

"Ruse caught you~ Now Ruse eats you!" He proceeds to gobble down the fish whole, before carefully paddling toward his rock to dry off.

High above the landscape, a feathered windrider coasted on the breeze further up in the atmosphere. Although she wasn't a "flyer" in the typical sense, her skills in gliding were certainly enough to compete with their kind. Savoring the air rushing through the lime green feathers atop her head, she'd ridden a thermal to such a high altitude that spotting her from the ground would be a challenge for all but the sharpest eyes. The mostly sky blue coloring of her plumage certainly wouldn't help, either.

She gazed at the scenery spread out below her and saw waves licking the sand, ripples of foam rolling in and out with them. The Big Water certainly was awe-inspiring on a day like this. It had been a while since she'd taken a moment to see it up close. On a whim, she decided to take a brief detour from her journey. Yes, it was true that her family was waiting for her at Windrider Valley. Undoubtably, they would spend a lot of time sighing about what took so long, not to mention how they didn't get visits from her enough ever since she left home to settle in the Great Valley with Guido.

But they would just have to forgive her, Zephyr thought. And they would, she added to herself with a knowing smirk. They always did. They knew she was a free spirit, after all.

With a gleam of wanderlust in her eyes, Zephyr began coasting downwards, towards the sunlit sand and sparkling waters below.

On the outskirts of the big waters, the ground started to tremble and shake, and little creatures that felt the shakes started to rush for safety, but little do they know that it wasn't an earth shake that's happening, it was instead just foot falls from an Argentinosaurus that was the biggest compared to even the Great Valley's longnecks. The argent kept looking around the place, noting all the trees she is going to have to maneuver around with her big size, while also guessing if she can eat them or not. She lets out a long sigh as she hoped that she would meet someone in particular again, since he went away on a journey for too long and it made her concerned enough, to leave her safe place to search for him. Though she got a bit distracted by sharptooth attacks, along with meeting other creatures that told her directions of where they might have seen her friend. The lone Argent wondered if he was okay, how he was doing, while also trying to reassure herself at the same time, of how he can take care of himself due to him constantly pushing her help away, but her train of thought was interrupted by the sudden drops of rocks, making her fall for about 5 feet with a big gasp coming from her lips although it was just a small fall. To the creatures on the other hand, they hear a loud cracking sound of rocks, just as the argent landed on the rocks more heavier than usual, causing the ground to dent a little and also hurting her poor feet with the water carved rocks, earning a yelp from her as she quickly moved her feet to get off the spikey rocks. She turned her head and raised her foot to look at it, examining the damage to which she did manage to get a rock stuck in her foot, so she got her head as close as she can and used her mouth to grab it, before a low rumbling sound came from her as she painfully pulled out the rock, and spits it out to the ground. Now, with a limp she heads for the waters to see if she can wash it off, and help with the pain that was now shooting through her leg, although granted it wasn't as painful as it was if she left it in. It took her even more time than usual to make it to the water, and she didn't bother to waste any time moving her feet into it, wincing, flinching, and biting her lip from the pain as the water surrounded her injury, but at the same time it was soothing so she didn't make too much of a fuss, although she hoped no sharptooth is aware of her despite her clumsiness.

Further off the coast of the Big Water, a terrifyingly large and elongated silhouette blotted the surface of the water, temporarily casting the environment below him in darkness. Schools of scaly swimmers and other marine creatures flee in terror of the olive green behemoth, not wanting to be around him in case they end up as a snack to the Mosasaurus. Luckily for them, the swimming sharptooth already had a fulfilling meal from the deeper depths of the ocean earlier. Dove paid no heed to the reactions around him as he swam closer to the shoreline, basking in the sunlight and serenity that this beautiful day had to offer. Particularly, he swam to the coast often as he always loved to observe the land walkers that roamed the region. Born with an inherent curiosity, it was interesting for him to see how the dinosaurs on land interacted and behaved.

More often then not, Dove yearned for more friends. He was extremely grateful to have Mo in his life, a purple swimmer full of buoyancy, love, and happiness. They were not together all the time however, which can get lonely at times. He isn't unhappy overall, but it would be nice to have more creatures to talk to and have fun with. Most attempts to form a relationship end poorly though, usually due to Dove scaring them away. They sometimes get defensive against the swimming sharptooth that they perceive as a threat as well. It doesn't help that he isn't the most fluent in speaking leafeater. Because of this, he usually observes the terrestrial creatures from a distance instead. Despite the challenge, this hasn't deterred Dove from trying though.

"Maybe someday I will make another friend..." he wondered.
