How did he insert those interesting formations like the stars, "KIRBY" text, pictures of Kirby, that cloud boss (who's name escapes me at the moment), etc., and still make the MIDI sound good? What manner of program is this!?

Where is the proof that it actually exists?  He could have just made the movie and put the midi sound in the background...

Any decent MIDI software can make images similar to this.  the "bars of varying lengths at different heights" is a very common industry standard, known as the "piano roll" view in many programs.  Depending on how the note events (the bars) are stretched vertically and horizontally, this is very possible to make a logical series of durations and pitches into a picture.  I'll bet this could be done in the software I use.  Admittedly though, it takes a certain mindset and more effort than I'm willing to put in to draw pretty pictures in their MIDI file and still make it sound good :p

There are ways to "cheat" by writing notes that have zero volume and whatnot, and hiding the layers that really produce the sound. This looks pretty authentic though.  I'm sure it's possible with enough frittering around with it. :lol

"hattariyaro" provided a link to the software in the video descriptions. The link is http://www.musanim.com/.

Apparently, he's uploaded more of this type of stuff. His profile is here. The "Retro Game Medley" here interested me in particular. I recognized Tetris, Dr. Mario, Gradius, Donkey Kong, and Pac-Man.
