Title: "For Example, theres this ENORMOUS pla-"
Post by: thebigdeal on December 19, 2009, 10:27:06 PM
Here's the first few lyrics to the Rainbow Faces' smash hit song from the seventh movie- (I hope i get the right words)

Beyond the mysterious beyond
Out past the smallest light thats twinkling
You cannot even have an inkling, of what is going on
 FOR EXAMPLE, THERE'S THIS ENORMOUS PLA-

Then the other rainbow face interrupts the one that qas singing

I don't know about YOU, but I would say he was going to say PLANET considering what happened to them at the end of the movie.

What do YOU think?

I always thought it was "Black."  Then again, I've never had the subtitles turned on.  I don't watch movies on disks and I don't get the subtitle files when I put them on the computer.

No! :bang Not like that!  He was cut off.  Perhaps something like "Enormous Black _________." :p Hole, vortex, concept, secret?  Who knows.  There's a lot of black things in the galaxy. :p

I thought the same thing. I always thought the sentence cut off at the perfect moment, since it's obviously describing space, but there's no perfect  word to fit the sentence that wasn't overly technical, like "expanse."

Yeah, I agree with you

I still think he was about to say "planet" though

Sorry, but the male rainbow-face does not have an English accent.  It's pronounced "Plan-it" not "Plawnate." :p He said "Enormous Plaw-" or "Enormous Black."

Black has the same vowel stress as planet.  Pronunciation-wise, it's "blăk" and "plă-nət". The Rainbowface said "blă-" or "plă-", so it still could be either, depending on the consonant involved. Of course, I'm coming from a Californian accent point of view, but since Universal is here also, I think it's applicable.

If anyone has the seventh film with subtitles, it could resolve this. My copy's in VHS, unfortunately.

I have it on dvd and they don't caption the word after enormous.  I took a screen shot to show it.

I still think it was "Black."  I could hear the K sound at the end.  I turned it up real loud and put on headphones.  There's definitely a K sound in there, so unless he was saying "Plaque," I don't think it was "Pla-." :p

He maybe was going to mention the enormous black space or distance between where they are and the stars they see.  I think at another point the male rainbowface is about to mention the night lights are actually stars like their bright circle, or something like that before he is interrupted again.

...enormous black...

Confirmed with usb headphones...doesn't get much clearer....I would think he was going to say "black space" or "black hole" or things like that.  (Not the human term but that is funny. :lol)

^ What Adam said. I never understood the word as anything but black always in the context of the enormous black space the dinosaurs wouldn't know anything about. If he had said Planet the dinosaurs probably wouldn't know what the heck a planet is.

Sorry LBTLover but that did make me chuckle!  :lol I can safely assure you, being an Brit, that no one here has ever pronounced the word planet as "plaw-nate" :DD I appreciate the concept that "The Queen's English" still floats about but that did make me laugh mate! Cheers for that one! :D

Oh...and to add to the topic, it's black. "For example if this enormous (black)..." Granted the interruption could make it sound like other things but that's the only word I've ever heard it as.

Could be. I haven't watched number 7 in a long time so I wouldn't know.

Whatever it is, I think I have more to say that the Rainbow Face could be the Doctor =P .

Fanfiction, hooooooooo!

(There's even a storyline in the Doctor Who universe where some Daleks from the Time War were blasted into the age of the dinosaurs and got themselves "exterminated" by them. This is just too good to resist XD !)
