Diets: People who are thick and tired of it. :P

This is just a thread for puns (play on words). ;)
Mary: I can't marry you Jack because you're penniless.
Jack: So what? The czar of Russia was Nicholas.

I still don't get it.. what are we suppost to post here?

This is for jokes where there's a play on the words. I guess you would have to know english really well to understand them. *shrugs*

Once I made a pun without even realizing it. During a students exchange I stayed with a very nice host familiy, who also hosted a Japanese guest (his name was Toko). Toko frequently cooked Japanese meals. Once he made a soup with dried seaweed in it, and we all got a bowl of it. The seaweed tasted very much like fish, so unaware of the double meaning I said that it tasted "fishy". Fortunately everybody was just laughing as they understood that I hadn't known about the other meaning.

Ah... like that story about the russian lady and the bloody apples, cause they were red like blood and she didn't know that bloody had another meaning
-
Yep, Malte's got the right idea. ;) Post those puns in here.

- Where do you live?
- Sandwitch and you?
- Hanburg
- Ahahaha! It sounds like food!
-
My sister actually DOES live in Hamburg
There are more puns like this possible in German, but I doubt they'd work out in English simply because either the food those puns refer to don't exist in other countries or they are called differently.
JFK's famous quote: "Ich bin ein Berliner" (I'm a Berliner (a citizen of Berlin)) is sometimes used as an advertising slogan in German backeries as there is a sort of sweet role with suggar on and jam in it which is called "Berliner".
Another sort of dicus shaped cake with a layer of sugar on it is called "Amerikaner" which is German for (you may guess already) "American".

Lol cool.. I actually thought that one up, cause a guy in my class lives in Sande, which is sort of a village near here.. and sande is what we use for sandwitch... =p Actually we also have a round cream cake called Berlin balls, they sell them on the beach in Algarve during the summer but you can get them in any pastery

(I hope no one minds if I try to bring this thread back to life)
I had hoped there was a thread for puns. I love puns. :smile
Here's one from a video game that I thought was funny.
"I used to be addicted to soap, but I'm all clean now."
It's stupid, I know, but that's the beauty of puns, at least to me. :p

Earlier today in the Countdown thread, I made a pun without even meaning to. OwlsCantRead was commenting on how much progress we'd made in such a short time, and I stated that we've really been doing quite a number on it.
:PCera

I was wondering why the baseball was getting bigger. Then it hit me.
Unfortunately I didn't make that one up myself. I read it online somewhere, but I like to tell it to other people anyway. You could say I enjoying punishing them. :lol

Preparation H Whips, now that is a product I can get behind. :p
