General Land Before Time / Journey of the Brave (LBT 14)
« on: July 31, 2015, 11:06:27 PM »
Hm, hmm, hmmm.... Seems like it could be interesting but...Reba McEntire? Alrighty then. I won't judge it until I see it for myself but like Petrie I'm much more of a fan of the original movie. I enjoyed some of the sequels but I sure do wish we'd get one with the same feel of the first movie.... I know that won't ever happen, but I can dream right?  :p It would be nice if this is a prequel to the TV series though and we get to find out how Chomper and Ruby came to the Great Valley.

Silver Screen / The My Little Pony - Friendship is Magic Thread
« on: July 04, 2015, 11:19:06 AM »
I love FiM! Honestly when I first heard about it I shrugged it off as a "girly kids show". Sure I watched MLP when I was five but now...? Then someone introduced me to the character Discord and that sparked my interest. I watched "Return of Harmony", got hooked and the rest is history. It's safe to say I'm a brony now. :p I've really enjoyed (most of) season five so far and the newest episode sounds interesting. It'll be fun to revisit those ponies from Twilight's past.

Hey Cassie! Welcome to TGOF forums! :wave I'm not too big on the sequels but I do like some of the earlier ones too, namely #2, #4 and #5 (I always did like Chomper) The original movie will always be the best in my eyes. ;)

I identify as agender (genderless) myself but tend to lean more towards male (born female) This is a really nice community, I'm sure you'll love it here. :)

Silver Screen / Jurassic World
« on: June 15, 2015, 12:20:59 AM »
Well this is the first movie in a LONG time that I've seen TWICE...and this from someone who very rarely goes to the theater at all. I think that says a lot. I saw it the first time Saturday then again tonight with some friends. I won't spoil anything but it's absolutely worth seeing in my opinion! Best JP sequel to date. While nothing can top the original for me JW is a worthy sequel and I really enjoyed the story. Blue and the raptor pack were the best! :smile

I couldn't find a thread about this but if there is one already I apologize. Anyone else excited about the new Jurassic Park movie? While nothing can compare to the original (that goes for pretty much everything) I'm pretty hyped and plan to see it opening day! I'm intrigued about the plot involving the raptors in this one (but then again they've always been my favorite) :smile

General Land Before Time / Land Before Time Canon and Sequel Haters
« on: June 08, 2015, 09:23:14 PM »
As others have said everyone is entitled to their own opinion, you can love the sequels or hate them but I don't think we should bash anyone for their opinions.

Personally I will always love the original the best, it's a classic in my eyes and nothing can even come close to comparison. Had the sequels followed in the style of the first movie I would be a very happy camper! While the original movie felt like something the entire family could enjoy the sequels were obviously targeting a much younger audience and I doubt that audience was too concerned with continuity. That being said I don't hate the sequels, in fact some of them I quite enjoy. Same goes with the TV series, it is what it is and you can like it or not. I choose to be open-minded and give everything a chance. If I don't like I just won't watch it again and probably won't count it as canon in my head.

Now just for the sake of rambling I would personally love to see just one sequel that overlooks all the other sequels and simply continues the story where the first movie left off. A sequel with the style, quality and feel of the original. Hey I can dream, right? :smile

Silver Screen / Iago
« on: June 08, 2015, 01:34:31 PM »
Iago is one of my favorite characters of all time! I love when villains are shown to have 'shades of grey' or get a chance at redemption. I also love how they have Iago switch from bad to good without ruining his personality. Technically he is a hero in Return of Jafar but he doesn't turn into a goody two-shoes, which is one of the things I love about him. I'd absolutely consider him an antihero and I think that really shows in the Aladdin series too. He remained a loud-mouthed, short-tempered, greedy little parrot but at the end of the day he did care about his friends.

1988 Theatrical Release / Outcut land before time scenes

I'd never seen some of those storyboards before, thanks for sharing! It'd be interesting to see some of these cut scenes fully animated.

Dashaque, is this the picture you're looking for?

Thanks everyone! It's great to see some familiar faces! :D

I remember you, mostly because I always had to think of 'a kiko' (a neopet)

Hahaha, I remember NeoPets! I still have an account on there even though I rarely use it anymore. That account is at least 13 years old now.

I've been doing alright, been through a lot of changes in the last few years but I've survived and I'm in a much healthier, happier state now for the most part.

if it makes you feel any less old, I am still some months older than you are. The air we breathe doesn't taste any more stale after the 30th birthday

I've felt old since I turned 13 but I'm glad I'm not the only one here who can say they've been around for three decades :lol

Thanks again for the warm welcome back everyone, it's wonderful to see you all again - and hello to new friends as well! :wave

The Welcome Center / Hello again
« on: June 07, 2015, 09:04:17 PM »
I'm not sure how many people will remember me, I think it's been four years since I was last active on these forums. I originally joined way back in 2007...sheesh. Why does everything make me feel old these days? :rolleyes Anyway. Life got chaotic as life often does. I won't bore you all with details, but judging from some recent topics posted in the Welcome Center it seems as if a lot of older users have returned recently! Perhaps it was fate then for me to come back now. I remember this community fondly and I've missed it.

PS: The username "Akiko" really doesn't suit me anymore but I don't know if it's possible to change it and didn't see the sense in making a new account. It's nostalgic for me at this point anyway. :p

Silver Screen / Your Most or Least Liked Disney Films by Decade
« on: March 02, 2011, 09:13:27 AM »
Favorites:
1930s: "Snow White" (but what else CAN you pick here? lol)
1940s: "Bambi"
1950s: "Lady and the Tramp"
1960s: "The Jungle Book" and "101 Dalmatians"
1970s: "The Aristocats"
1980s: "Oliver & Company" & "The Fox and the Hound"
(I love these two equally, however "Oliver & Company", the very first movie I ever saw in theaters, has a special place with me personally)
1990s: "The Lion King", "Aladdin", "Pocahontas" & "Tarzan"
(this was MY childhood and it was a good one for animation..."The Lion King" was by FAR the best...and still is, imo! and as for "Aladdin", I actually liked the sequel "Return of Jafar" even more since it centered on Iago the parrot...ha!!)
2000s: "Brother Bear" & "Bolt"
If it's not obvious, I love the animal movies...and also the "movies with a message". Although I MUCH prefer traditional hand drawn animation to computer animation, I did enjoy "Bolt". I'm just a sucker for a dog movie. :p

Least:
1930s: Well, there's only "Snow White"! All I can say is I don't really love OR dislike this one...it's the one that started it all, so you can't hate on it. I'm not a huge fan of stereotypical "weak princess type girls" though...LOL
1940s: I don't dislike any of the 1940's movies...
1950s: Cinderella...I'm not really a fan of the princess stuff...:p
1960s: "The Sword in the Stone"...naw, some of this movie was fun...I didn't like the random "evil wolf" that stalked them around though. :\
1970s: No "dislikes" really...
1980s: "The Black Cauldron" was pretty weird...cute pig, though. Ironically, this came out the year I was born. Figures. XD
1990s: "Hercules"...I just never liked the style of this one much.
2000s: "Atlantis", "Dinosaur" (I agree with those who said there were LBT scenes in this movie...they also seemed to copy from themselves too...was it just me or were some scenes very "Tarzan" and even "TLK"? Not a very original story concept, to say the least)

General Land Before Time / Watching LBT with family
« on: February 23, 2011, 06:08:31 AM »
LBT was the second movie I ever saw (the first: "Olver & Company". LBT was also the first movie I ever saw with my mom. I watched O&L with my dad when I was just 3 years old (my first theatre movie) and LBT with my mom soon after. My parents and I have a lot in common so I have no problem watching what I love with them. My mom is always happy to watch cartoons with me (she watched Ren & Stimpy with me just the other day LOL :lol) LBT is, obviously, a very special movie for both of us. She loves it as much as I do.

Oh, and my four dogs and cat are always happy to watch just about anything with me too. :DD

General Land Before Time / LBT available on Demand!
« on: February 23, 2011, 05:17:43 AM »
YES! The original classic movie! I was not expecting that...and I about peed my pants when I saw it. :lol I'm up with insomnia a lot and sometimes browse through the on demand listings for anything worth watching. I can get channels like "Nick Rewind" through that for some oldskool toons and on rare occasion they'll have an older classic animated movie on too. LBT just came up new on the "Free Family/Musicals" list! Even though it was almost 2:00 am I had to watch it. I don't have a player that works right now, so yes it is special for me for when any of these movies to come on TV. Just thought I would share, for anyone who feels like catching it on this way. I know, you can watch it online anytime...but there's something special about watching it sitting snuggled up on the couch surrounded with dogs and a cat, sipping away at a soda...at an unspeakable hour. :rolleyes

That's awesome, thank you!! I had a feeling "LBTUploader" was someone from these forums... :DD Your uploads come up first when searching for "Dink the Little Dinosaur" on Youtube. I remember the ep "Tricera-Scat" very well...for some reason I think that's one they might have had on repeats a lot. Thanks again for this, hafta see if I have time to watch an episode every night :lol

PS: I think I have a fanpop account...if I can remember my login information there I'll join up for Dink.

Considering how very similar this series was to LBT and all, I'm sure I'm not the only one who remembers it. I think this was on TV in the very early 90's, which might make one wonder if it wasn't a LBT "copy" of sorts (always seemed that way to me) I loved it nontheless.

I haven't seen it in years & I'm planning to rewatch some eps online soon for some good ol' fashioned nostalgia. I might even still have some eps on VHS tape around here somewhere (I used to tape everything) but...it's easier to watch them online.

I remember my fav character was always Scrat (or was it "Scat"...but what an awful name if it was lol :lol)

I have one. I find some of the games/apps pretty amusing. I mostly use it for talking to friends, playing games. Also for "crossposting" and sharing shelter animals that are in urgent need. It's very useful, there's a massive rescue network on there. :cheers

General Land Before Time / Should Universal Bring Back LBT?
« on: February 21, 2011, 04:37:02 PM »
Personally, I would like to see one high quality sequel in the spirit of the original movie! A sequel that's geared more towards older kids instead of younger. A movie made for the fans that saw the original in 1988. No singing (sorry to those who enjoy that), no over the top obvious moral lessons. Something that even dares to ignore the many sequels and continue the story right from where the original theatrical movie left off. I loved some of the sequels (I adore Chomper) I have just always pictured something, somehow...darker for a sequel. So, get don bluth and some of the original story writers & animators on board and then yesYesYES...but I know that won't happen. :lol As for more sequels in the style of the many sequels already out there...sure, if they're not rushed...as I said, some of the sequels are quite nice, others sort of make me cringe. and, just in my opinion, none of them can compare to the original classic.
