The Fridge / Re: Happy 15th Anniversary - GOF Forum!
« on: December 03, 2018, 09:30:06 AM »
Holy protracted absence, Batman!
Not even I expected to see myself log in to this forum again. No particular reason, but life has a tendency to move on. And with that comes new things.
I won't write about what I've been doing since then. That's for me and my friends to know. So let's just stick with "occupied with life as a whole".
However;

I've always (more or less, with periods of long intermissions) stayed in contact with Malte, Jay and Iris.
I've visited Malte 2 times since back then, when I was around his part of the world. And Jason and I have been sharing gaming sessions now and then.

Not too long ago, Jason and I were talking over Discord and as usual, the question about the well-being of our mutual friends Malte, Iris and Patrick was raised.
It was then that Jason mentioned he'd been in contact with Iris recently and sent me her handles.
After the obligatory questions of how things have been and what/not; Iris and I shared some fond memories as well as pictures from now and then. Need less to say, apart from growing older, we're both still and look the same it seems. =)
Not much later, "all of us" were back together again on a discord chat. I'm very grateful, as I'll explain to you why.

When I joined GoF back in 2008 (10 dingily-dong-damn years ago!?) I was the common, ambivalent teenager with one foot in childhood and the other in adulthood.
The days of earlier seemed easier, with many fond memories (don't grow old, kids! It's a trap!).
For whatever reasons I can't remember and fail to understand I found myself having this affinity towards these movies with these group of young dinosaurs. Sure, I liked them movies plenty when I was a kid, but now?
It was a period of... questions. And doubt. And self-search.
Eventually I accepted; for myself, that I really liked these movies and dinosaurs. That it was nobody's business what I choose to like and that it was nothing "wrong" with me.
So I eventually found and joined GoF.
The rest is, as they say... history.

Now, 10 years later...

-I've been to countries and places I never thought I'd ever visit
-I've been to adventures in exotic and wild locations (you should be able to find these trips browsing the forum)
-Learned so much about... everything. Especially about WWII. You can guess who's to blame for that :P
-Grown ever so much as a person
-Collected all the movies and a few plushies :P

But the single most valuable treasure GoF has given me and what I'm most grateful for, hands down:
I've made lifelong friends that I care deeply for. And I should tell them this more often. You guys know who you are <3

To summarize:
This group of young dinosaurs have changed my life more times and in ways no forum post could hope to describe.

Happy belated Starday, GoF!

Not much to say other than the very fact that Petrie would fail tremendously in English.  :lol

This will sound bizarre.
I like Blood Pudding. It's a swedish dish so I doubt many of you have tried it.
It's made of pig blood. (Lots of iron.)
I find it tasty (especially with bacon or fried potato), but I know many does not.
When Patrick (Nimrod) was visiting me for the first time, I offered him some.
He did not accept that offer. :P:

Hm, seems that the majority is praising this game.
So yeah, I think I'm gonna buy it. I need something new to entertain me and I don't play that many FPS shooters. (though this uses TPS as well)
Might have to wait though, for like Littlefoot1616, my wallet's life bar is at red.

What the topic says people!

Deus Ex: Human Revolution. To be released sometime next week. (PC, XBOX, PS3)

I've been keeping my eyes on this game for a while, and still haven't made up my mind whether to buy it or not. The trailer looks promising, and so does the gameplay.
However, I haven't played any of the prequels, so I don't have any experience with the franchise and don't know what to expect. (maybe that's a reason itself, get it and find out. :p)
What I like about the trailer and articles about the game is the setting in a not too distant future in a "cyber/modern" world (and the whole "Human augmentation" concept and how humankind have created their own evolution. Well, the rich ones anyway, hence why the poor is pissed.)
Story sounds quite intriguing, including the above, and the transition in and out of third person contra first person looks kinda cool. Another thing to mention about the gameplay is the freedom to choose how you play. Attack straight on, stealth, a little bit of both or hacking. Kinda like Crysis.
Protagonist Adam Jensen gives a bad ass impression. :p

I'm still torn. The game looks interesting but I wonder if it's worth the money, being a game franchise that I'm unfamiliar with.

Spill the beans folks, what's your thoughts and are YOU getting this game?
And if so, spice things up by explain why. :)

Several demos from PSN. Don't have anything to play at the time but thinking of giving Deus Ex: Human Revolution a shot once it's released.
Waiting for other titles to be released later this year.

GLaDos:The Aperture Science Enrichment Center are pleased to inform you that Portal 2 is now available. For the convenience of those around you, please acknowledge it.
Failure to get hold of Portal 2 will result in an unsatisfactory remark on your test report... followed by death.

Totally getting this one! Loved the first one and I'm certain that this one will be even better. Truly a shame that my Ps3 currently is on repair because of that godforsaken YLOD...

Visual Art / DS2 Advanced RIG

Howdy!
Been encouraged to put this up for display here, which I gladly do. ^^
I have grown a love for Dead Space. For many reasons, one of them being the super awesome RIGS (Resource Integration Gears) (also known as suits) featured in the game.
So I took a try at drawing the Advanced RIG from Dead Space 2.
Done in... pencil.
Scanner broken. A photo will have to do.

Enjoy and feedback is always appreciated.

Dead Space, as I got curious about the sequel which will be released by the end of this month and I wanted to try something new.
Have never played this kind of horror games before and after half a play-through I've come to the conclusion that I love it!   :wow
Now I'm looking forward to the sequel.
Also, recently completed Super Mario Galaxy. Jolly fun game. :)

Thanks for all the happy wishes on my birthday guys!
And indeed, Malte has the right to claim that he was first. :P:
Where I'm from, turning 20 has the privilege that you may go to the Swedish Alcohol Retailing Monopoly and legally buy alcoholic drinks. Not much more than that. :P:

Was a good day yesterday, cake in the morning and a nice dinner in the evening.
For my birthday, I got money from grandma. From the rest of the family I got a set of 72 Copic marker pens for my drawing. Something I've wished for almost a year so I'm all happy! :P:
