Should the songs be removed or should they be kept as a integral part of the LBT sequels?

I personally think that the songs should go. I find them somewhat annoying.

Sometimes the songs express what can't be said in dialogue, but overall I think they're just there for the kids.

Its not really our place to say whether the songs go or not... but in my opinion, not all the songs are hard to swallow

some seemed well thought out and very heart felt.. while others I simply cringed at.

The worst they can do is turn LBT into a kiddie opera of sorts.. nothing but songs. but I dont se that happening

LBT on Ice anyone?

Well, some songs are annoying. But some are just wonderful like "Always There" or "Bestest Friends".

While some songs are really poor I am willing to take the bad songs into account for such beautiful ones as "No one has to be alone", "Bestest Friends", "Always There" etc. or such illuminating ones as "Very important creature". While there are a few songs which are really a pain (as far as I'm concerned "Who needs you", "The lesson", and "Me and my Dad" are among those) most of the LBT songs seem at least tolerable to me. Also meanwhile I really think the have become an integral part of the LBT series.

I like most of the LBT songs, but some are a bit pointless and there are some that are even annoying.  Overall I like the songs though.

Malte, you forgot to include the Lone Dinosaur amongst the bad list.... for me, that was too much of a western country feel for a dinosaur movie *twitches*

This is a matter of taste I reckon. While the legend of the lone dinosaur was not among my favorite I wouldn't rank it among the worst either and it served its purpose to show Littlefoot's enthusiasm for the lone dinosaur and give some more information on the legend without long tales from anyone. I know somebody here considers "The lesson" one of the best LBT songs. It is just a matter of taste.

perhaps true... it wasn't a god awful song, it just didn't seem fitting for the series... Who Needs You was the most cringe worthy moment I've had in LBT thus so far... but mind you, I haven't seen 12 all the way through nor have I seen 13 at all, so I'm not sure what I'm in for on those two pieces

Same goes for me in case of LBT 13 which I expect to see by late February / early March when it will be released over here. I am not going to buy the US DvD to buy the German DvD later (as I have done in case of some earlier sequels) but wait for the German DvD which has the English sound on it as well...
On a site note I didn't watch the recent movies completely in German at all. The voices there seem to be really deteriorating.

One word: NO! A lot of the songs in the sequels are really, really, really catchy.

As long as they keep popping out at least decent songs, no.

Besides, there are quite a good amount of people who love them.  This is shown by the fact that the vids of these songs that I've posted on YouTube get views every single day and get commented on nearly everyday.

In fact, here's a quick look at the Top 5 Most Viewed for my YouTube Account:

5: Flip, Flap and Fly: 15,114 Views, 8 months old, average per day: about 63

4: The Mad Song: 15,215 Views, 7 months old, average per day: about 73

3: Friends For Dinner: 16,075 Views, 6 months old, average per day: about 106

2: Eggs: 16,869 Views, 5 months old, average per day: about 113

1: Legend of the Lone Dinosaur: 19,719 Views, 7 months old, average per day: about 94

Wow!  Didn't expect those, huh? ;)

If you're wondering, here's how the LBT 13 songs are currently doing:

Say So: 1822 Views, 1 month old, average per day: about 61

Yellow Belly Bounce: 3087 Views, 1 month old, average per day: about 103

How do you Know?: 2210 Views, 1 month old, average per day: about 74

Wow!  Doing good, huh? :)

And to think, my favs aren't among the top 5. -_-

I wonder if I'm the only one who liked the song "Who Needs You".

Anyway I feel the songs should go. I don't feel they are necessary to carry out the plot.

To bad the dvd's don't have an option so those who dislike the songs can choose that option and the dvd will not play them.  I guess the next best is to fastforward past them.  I know my dvd player has fast forward so I assume most have.

As for who needs you, on it's own it's a funny song, but it takes the scene from a darkish serious, we need to escape from this sharptooth to a comedy song then back to a, serious we need to escape from this sharptooth.  Sorta like in the first movie if while running from the sharptooth there the group would stop and the sharptooth would tell some jokes for a few minutes then they go back to the chasing and running away.

Perhaps the point of the song was to lighten up the mood.

I think some of the songs are very nice, while others are just annoying. 50/50 I would say.

I like almost all the LBT songs and even if I didn't, I think removing the songs might make it less popular with the younger viewers.  That wouldn't be good, seeing as most of LBT's fans are young.  Then Universal would cancel it for sure.

And despite it's lower ratings than the other songs, I really liked "the lesson".  I don't know why.

I think the songs should definitely stay.

It seems that there is a pattern in every Land Before Time movie with the songs. There are two silly/happy songs, and then there is one song considered serious/meaningful. Here is a list of what I think the serious song in each movie was:

LBT: If We Hold On Together (Obviously the only song, and the best in the series)

LBT 2: Peaceful Valley (This was tough, either this or One of Us Now, so I chose this one)

LBT 3: Kids Like Us (One of Littlefoot's best performances)

LBT 4: It Takes All Sorts (My second favorite song in the series)

LBT 5: Always There (This song made me cry the first five times I heard it)

LBT 6: On Your Own (The only song in the movie that wasn't so lame)

LBT 7: Beyond the Mysterious Beyond (Didn't find Very Important Creature so meaningful)

LBT 8: Family/The Lesson (Either one of these in my opinion could be argued)

LBT 9: No One Has to Be Alone (So heart-warming)

LBT 10: Bestest Friends (Made me cry as well)

LBT 11: If Only (OMG, Grandpa Longneck sang for the first time!!!!!!)

LBT 12: Things Change (So true)

LBT 13: How Do You Know (One of the best vocals for the 2nd set of voice actors)

Again, these are my opinions only.

Yeah. That was an "ouch" moment for me.

To be honest, I'm actually somewhat in the middle, they are an integral part of the LBT series and I do like some of them, but they are occasionally painful and I would enjoy the movies more if there were someway to bypass the songs.

Some of the songs I liked:

"If We Hold On Together" (LBT) is stunningly beautiful, with a distinct sad edge to it.

The song "Always There" (LBT 5) has a distinctly haunting but at the same time beautiful feel to it.

"Friends for Dinner" (LBT 5) plain cracked me up. The part about Chomper not eating Cera "because she's too tough" made me laugh when I 1st saw it and still makes me laugh 7 years later
