« on: July 20, 2014, 05:54:05 PM »
James Garner whose career spanned back to the early 60s is gone. I just loved his work as Pat from LBT X which I will watch tonight. RIP Jim. You will be missed.  :cry

Sound Off! / RIP Whitney Houston
« on: February 11, 2012, 10:28:30 PM »
I heard about this an hour ago. It's all over Facebook and Twitter. I can't believe she's gone so suddenly, a major talent gone, and she was so young. Only 48.  :cry  No news on what led to her death.

I loved her voice, and her stories of growing up in her mother's gospel world. I remember one story in particular, when Mahalia Jackson sang at Rev. Franklin's (Aretha's dad) church, and afterwards she'd come to the house and fix an old time fried chicken dinner. I'm digging out the old LP's and CD's now.

RIP Whitney. You will be very missed. :(

The Fridge / Are we hot enough?
« on: July 22, 2011, 06:09:01 PM »
I've put winter wallpaper on the desktop, watched old Xmas TV specials that've been on the DVR since last December, even watched Scott of the Antarctic twice. It helped somewhat but 100 degrees is 100 degrees. Yes Indy hit the century mark yesterday and it's still in the upper 90's now. :wacko At least it'll scale back to the upper 80's next week.

I found this on another forum. It was so apropos I had to share.  :DD

The Fridge / We're on ice
« on: February 02, 2011, 06:03:40 PM »
So how's the weather in your neighborhood? We are now on our second snow day (or should it be Ice Day?) and I have a feeling there'll be no school tomorrow. It's that bad. We had sleet all day yesterday, freezing rain on top of that, then 45mph winds all last night.  My entire yard and front walk is covered with ice with just a narrow path of bare concrete from the door to porch. I walked those few steps this morning to get the paper. I've been no where else.  Wherever you all are, please keep safe and warm.

The Fridge / A holiday pic of my niece
« on: January 03, 2010, 06:28:35 PM »
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thought I'd share this with my GoF pals. This is Ella, my 3 year old niece, and a dinosaur fan. I'm gradually introducing her to the joys of LBT. For Christmas, I sent the original LBT and a couple sequels. Hopefully, in a few years, she'll be part of our circle.  :yes

Anyway, here is Ella dressed in, of all things, the tree skirt! The tree came down New Years Day and she insisted she "Put on" the skirt. This is just too funny!  :lol

Isn't she a cutie pie?  :)

General Land Before Time / Happy Birthday Mr Thicknose
« on: November 30, 2009, 04:37:42 PM »
Happy 82nd Birthday to Robert Guillaume, the original voice of our favorite pachyrhinosaurus, Mr Thicknose.

Would you believe the first time I watched LBT 8 I kept wondering "Who's the voice?" My dad caught on. "That's Benson!" For those unaware, Guillaume played Benson on the old 70's TV sitcom Soap then starred in the spin-off.

Think I'll watch LBT 8 tonight.  :celebrate

General Land Before Time / Time span between LBT movies
« on: July 25, 2009, 04:17:42 PM »
I know most such stories are frozen in time, like most comic strips. The characters never age or die. However, since LBT does deal with sickness, survival and death, I wonder how much time goes by between each episode. I've noticed in the original LBT and the first sequel Littlefoot and pals seem less "babyish", somewhat larger physically,  and the voices seem to lose that toddler tone.

So what is the time span from LBT I to the latest sequel? Months, years? How long did it take to get to the Great Valley in the '88 movie? Or do we suspend belief that time really stands still?

I'm just glad LBT is not a soap opera or our favorite kid dinos would be SORAS-ed (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome) to mid-life crisis. :DD

The Welcome Center / Hello again!
« on: September 10, 2008, 05:55:28 PM »
I haven't posted here since introducing myself last summer. So here I am. :) I've been very busy -- back to work, helping my mom clear up 40+ years of stuff, and generally trying to keep my sanity while maintaining 3 sites. I'm still working on my mega crossover fan fiction (which includes the LBT gang amid others).

So I just dropped by to check in. I'll try to post a little more often.

The Welcome Center / Hello!
« on: June 11, 2008, 11:16:02 PM »
:) Hi folks! I just joined today. I've been an LBT fan since 1988. In fact, and though I'm no kid (I'm a baby boomer), I own several of the DTV DVD's. I play them every chance I get. Such sweet stories, well defined and memorable characters, and timeless themes.
BTW jedi427 told me about your forum, so I'm so glad I'm here. :)
