General Land Before Time / Which "Great" Valley?
« on: November 23, 2007, 05:07:05 PM »
I think the "Great" in Great Valley means...well, great in every sense of the phrase.

On the other hand (tangent), in LBT 6, Doc said that there were other valleys just as nice as the Great Valley, but if so, why haven't we seen any of them? I know they would probably look pretty similar, but I do find myself wondering what the rest of the LBT world looks like, aside from the Mysterious Beyond...then again I haven't watched any Land Before Time movies for quite some time now, so I may be forgetting something.

I think Littlefoot looks a little strange on the cover. I think it's his face that looks a bit odd to me...hmm. Loofah, Doofah, and Foobie?

...

Berry Valley? Hey, at least we get to see, well, a valley other than the Great Valley. I'm guessing Berry Valley won't be shrouded in mists.

On the plus side, at least the extras include more than character profiles and horrible games.

LBT Projects / In Need Of Some Assistance

I have tons of instrumental stuff. 1.96 GB worth, actually! I find 'Get Out Alive' by Three Days Grace to be a good song.

Pretty much, one of the only parts I liked in that movie was the followed dialogue exchanges:

“AAAAAH!” – Mr. Threehorn
“What was that?” – Grandma Longneck
“Eh…Mr. Threehorn again.” – Grandpa Longneck
“But what’s wrong?” – Grandma Longneck
“I don’t know, but I’m sure he’ll tell us…” – Grandpa Longneck

“Cera? Are you awake?…Look, I’m…I-I-I-I don’t…I…um, it’s just that…oh, this is so much harder than yelling…look. Tria is an old friend, and she doesn’t have anyone. She needs protection. And she’s really nice, and she…well, she likes me. And I like her.” – Mr. Threehorn
“But I want things back the way they were before! When you didn’t like anybody and nobody liked you!” – Cera
“I don’t think things are ever going to be that way again.” – Mr. Threehorn

Silver Screen / What are your favorite animes?
« on: October 26, 2007, 07:05:55 PM »
I've only seen three anime shows: Sailor Moon, the Dragonball trilogy, and Pokemon.

All three are extremely repetitive (but isn't that some sort of cutural norm for the Japanese?), but they all have their interesting characters. I have a tendency to like the antagonists, specifically the first ones that appear on the show. For a while I was re-watching Sailor Moon, both subbed and dubbed, up until Jedite was crystalized...I kind of liked it - I thought Jedite was a neat character. Getting run over by a jet only left him limping.

As for Dragonball, I only (if accidentally) managed to catch any of the episodes having to do with the Red Ribbon Army, whether it be the army itself, Dr. Gero and his androids, or Super 17.

As for Pokemon...well, I'm still watching that - the newest season, Diamond and Pearl, is completely unpredicatable and the writers are practically breaking traditions at nearly every turn! The Characters-of-the-Day and all the Pokemon actually have personalities, plus there are formidable Hunters like J, who turns Pokemon into gold and sells them for profit (she managed to capture Ash's Pikachu, Team Rocket's Meowth, an Absol and a Gardevior in less than 10 minutes), and real jerks like Paul (watch Diamond/Pearl season episode 51: "Chimchar vs. Zangoose! Battle of Fate!" to see how harsh with training he can be).

As for movies, so far I have seen Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa, Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Howl's Moving Castle...I might have missed a few, though...

General Land Before Time / Funniest Moments or Scenes
« on: October 21, 2007, 12:51:24 AM »
One of my favorite moments in the entire LBT series was in The Secret of Saurus Rock, when the Allosaurus had just thrown the log across the ditch. The whole conversation the gang had, wondering if they were in its tummy, and Petrie saying "me no know, but it STILL DARK in herree..." cracked me up. There were a few other moments in the movie that had me laughing, such as the (paraphrased) dialogue between Petrie and Ducky:
"No worry, if you fall there little river waaay down there that you might land in. Maybe."
(Ducky, sarcastically) "Oh, THANK YOU, I feel SO much better now!"
The humor seemed so natural in that movie.

Anyway, I planned on making a video of my favorite moments in the LBT TV series, but I haven't figured out Windows Movie Maker or whatever - it keeps crashing on me.

Silver Screen / Sea Monsters

Playing at OMSI (the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) is an AMAZING film I just got back from! I really urge you to see it. The CGI is amazing, the music is outstanding, the paleontology segments were well-placed, every minute is tension-filled! My only complaint is about the 40 minute runtime - I wish it could have been longer.

The film tells the story of a recent discovery of a Dolichorhynchops (or "Doli" for short, basically it's a four-flippered short-necked creature with a long toothy snout) with a shark tooth embedded in its rear flipper. I won't give anything else away, but if you have a chance to see it, go go GO.  :lol

Silver Screen / Goosebumps/Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Aww, I used to watch Are You Afraid Of The Dark? all the time. I think there was one episode about a clown that scared me.

Silver Screen / Dino Squad
« on: September 29, 2007, 02:07:30 AM »
I'll keep an eye on this board, even though the show itself seems pretty lame. I'm also disappointed that all the dinosaurs are the 'classics' like T. Rex and Stegosaurus. I really wish they'd introduce to lesser-known ones such as Agustinia or Stygimoloch.

Silver Screen / Creepiest animated villain?

I just watched Sleeping Beauty. My vote also goes to Malificent, though her death battle was too short and she didn't get a whole lot of screen time.

So far it looks even more "kidified" than...well....anything else I've seen so far. That's not good. I want tension, surprises, drama, characters that aren't one-demensional...I might see this one purely out of curiosity.

Character Discussion / Top 10 favourite Characters
« on: September 01, 2007, 12:48:31 PM »
1. Rainbowfaces (favorite)
Why: They're just so mysterious and quirky. Even though they didn't get a lot of screentime in the 7th movie, I liked how they had problems with each other. I would write more if I could remember more.

2. Doc
Why: Again, he's all mysterious and stuff. We never find out if he's the Lone Dinosaur or not, and the fact that he FADES OUT like a ghost makes it even more confusing. I liked his attitude, his design, his voice, pretty much everything.

3. Rinkus
Why: I love the fact that he can put on this completely believable mask of being a bumbling fool and really be the one who's been pulling all the strings from the beginning. He's a lot smarter than he seemed to be, and his dry sense of humor always makes me smile.

4. Sierra
Why: Um...he's pretty much badass.

5. Pterano
Why: He's the deepest of the sequal characters, I think. His story is a great one.

6. Guido
Why: Guido was really quirky - a very interesting character that no one seemed to really understand.

7. The golden Allosaurus from LBT6
Why: It's kickass! It fell down a cliff and didn't die. It acted like an actual predator and snuck up on its prey (Dinah and Dana). It almost killed Littlefoot, threw a huge log over a big ditch and drooled on Cera. Plus its roars were awesome.

8. The child Brachiosaurus from LBT6
Why: I...don't really know why, actually, but in his minute-length or something screentime I felt really attached to him for some bizarre reason.

9. Ducky
Why: She's friendly, optimistic most of the time, but somewhat insecure, like me.

10. Hyp
Why: He's just plain cool.

HA. Nimrod and I broke the pattern!

Character Discussion / Hyp, Mutt, and Nod

We don't know. We'll probably never know. They're not important to the story anymore so no one really cares about them.

...Though I did quite like Hyp, but that's besides the point.

I did consider that one, but it kinda gets brought down by the part where it got stuck in a tree while chasing a pair of toddlers.
Hey, at least he was acting like a real predator, sneaking up on his prey, then trying to ambush them. I haven't seen the movie in a while, but I don't think it noticed the trees because its head was so low to the ground. It was completely focused on the twins...plus the two tree only stopped it momentarily.

As menacing and threatening as the original sharptooth, even though he was featured in a sequel
I think the Allosaurus in LBT 6 was up to that level as well. Falling down a cliff didn't kill it. Gotta give it a pat on the back for that.

Episode Discussion / Discuss: Through the Eyes of a Spiketail
« on: August 18, 2007, 03:56:30 PM »
I wonder if we'll ever see an episode that's along the lines of Through the Eyes of a Non-Chomper Sharptooth...

This episodes sound somewhat interesting, though.

I voted for the wrong one, but the one I want to vote for (the golden-brown Allosaurus from LBT 6) isn't on the list.
