Characteristics of a Good Avatar

Well, I've taken my old avatar and turned it into something new.

It's not perfect, but i intend to fix it just as soon as I get around to installing imageready CS2. One bad thing about photoshop CS3 is there's no imageready program that comes with it. <_<

Long before you ever joined I used to only do animated avatars, but I eventually wanted to slow down and do something a bit less flashy. Now I'm back into the quick, stylish, and flashy again and I don't intend to look back.

I can do animated avatars, but not transparent ones.

Thank you. It's not a simple matter and it takes a lot of time, but it can be done correctly. I remember my last attempt:

It was horrible and I was very discouraged, however now with Photoshop CS3 Extended and ImageReady, I feel I can do almost anything with images. I'd still like to get my current avatar better though. There's still some white crap on the edges. It just takes time. I must have put 2 hours into the one I have now. It takes time to delete all the backgrounds while maintaining the character's position as well as resizing the image and reformatting it to a different format. Then you've gotta preserve the transparency when making the gif image. If you don't, it looks horrible.

I like your avatar kjeldo. If you are unhappy with it maybe you can briefly describe the type you want or some characteristics and some here can suggest some.
