Wow.  A quarter of a million dollars really can't buy much when you're looking at a Dell.  Take a look at the basics of a $250,000 computer:

Yeah, it'd be nice to have 192gb of ram......but WTF are you supposed to do about an Operating System?  64bit can only address 128gb of ram (I think). :lol

Maybe they'll create an operating system for it? :p

I would've at least expected something besides clunky Linux in a $250 k computer.  Good luck getting Linux to recognize all that space and memory.  Who the heck needs four monitors anyway?

Well hey, the monitors only add an extra $2,400 to the price tag.  Somehow I don't think anyone who's spending a quarter of a million dollars on a computer is going to care too much about $2,400.  I'm sure we'll all look back on this post in 2014 and laugh our heads off because then you'll be able to walk down to the Circuit City and get one of these for $500. :p

The theoretical limit of the 64-bit environment iis somewhere around 17 EB (17,000 TB I believe) but you're right, I don't know of an OS that will address more than 128GB of RAM at this point.

I can. :p

Multimedia work: the more hard drives and the more RAM, the smoother everything runs  What you can't cram into your RAM gets streamed off your hard drives.  The more hard drives you can stream from at the same time, the smoother everything runs.  There's really no limit - the more, the better. :p
If I loaded all my music software into RAM at one time, I could easily fill 128GB of RAM.  Two times over.  I'm serious. :p

Same example: multimedia production.  If you're making a 1080p video, you'll want at least twice that much screen realestate (for the video and for the toolbars, etc.).  One for your internet activity/manuals and whatnot could be useful as well, and one for the audio mix.  If you're making music, you'll want a monitor for your plugins, one for the notes (the more screen space for your music notes, the easier. Trust me on this) , one for the mixer, one for the video you're synching the music to..the list goes on.  4 monitors definitely have a purpose for people buying top-end systems. ;)

I've been considering setting up 4 28" monitors and hooking them all up to my computer.  But considering my main computer is only worth about $1,200 and it would probably cost about $6,000 to do it, I think I'll wait awhile. :p
