Let me know when you master ActionScript 3, I'm stuck on some programming. sad.gif

I haven't touched flash in quite awhile.  I did some flash editing back in 2001 when I was 10 years old, but nothing major.  I've forcefully decompiled flash applications and messed around....but I didn't know what I was doing and was just screwing around mostly.  It's going to take me quite awhile to learn flash.  I've never even seen the Adobe Flash CS4 UI (user interface) yet and I have basically no idea what I'm up against here.

I can't be a master at absolutely everything.  Just because it involves a computer doesn't mean I can do it.  I've never run into something I can't do yet, but there's a possibility that I may be faced with such a scenario one day.  My point is, I haven't even looked at this yet so no promises.  Learning new things from scratch is both a fascinating and frightening process all rolled into one.  I make no promises that I'll be able to make something like this anytime soon.  I have the feeling it's going to be extremely complicated............
Well of course it'll take awhile! If anyone was a master at everything involving computers right away, well I'd imagine they would be very wealthy! The user interface is quite literally the exact same as CS3, if you've ever taken a gander at that.

Flash is actually very easy to learn, in my opinion. I'm by no means an expert, but in my case, after I had gotten the whole picture I had a general idea of how most things are done, and it's just debugging from there on. :)

General Land Before Time / If LBT was a democracy...
« on: July 11, 2009, 08:41:18 AM »
Malte is right, and I apologize for wording it as "If LBT was a democracy". When we look at what type of government would/does exist in the Great Valley...it's just a bunch of dinosaurs with moral centers doing nothing but eating all day! :D. Nobody has to go to work or buy things or have aid because they're poor. A government simply isn't needed.

I just wanted to know who would win an election if for some reason they were to ever be hypothetically held.

I like your choices, Alex! The Tinysauruses would be too great of a senate though. we need squabling old men who would never agree on anything! :D

Oh, and for anyone not from America, please do post results in your country's system of government. I've never had a Prime Minister, so I wouldn't be a fair pick to judge which dinosaur would make a good one! :D

P.S Google Ads are getting smarter..an ad for an online game "Democracy 2" is gracing the bottom of my page.

General Land Before Time / If LBT was a democracy...
« on: July 10, 2009, 12:33:25 PM »
So a couple weeks ago, Alex was trying to get me to join the GOF, saying I could infuse my likings with LBT and get the desired result. From that suggestion spawned a very interesting question. If general elections were held in the Great Valley, who would win?! :D

As for president, I think it's pretty clear who the frontrunners would be...Grandpa Longneck pitted against the conservative Topsy (who most likely would nominate himself, if we know the same Topsy). As I think back through the conflicts within the Great Valley, it always seems to be the voice of fairness and reason, Grandpa Longneck, versus Topsy, who lingers between erring on the side of caution and outright fascism. When push comes to shove, and if it were a fair election, I would see Grandpa Longneck just barely winning the election over Topsy.

Anyone think differently? Think someone else would be elected? What of the other offices? Lets hear it! :D

Visual Art / Showing off my new graphics card

I recommend Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X if you don't have it already. It's a great jet flying game that'll give any graphics card a run for it's money! :)

Computer and Electronics / Google vs Microsoft

Which makes me think that if the Google staff built their own OS from the ground up, it would be more efficient and user friendly. If Google can make a Linux-esque OS that truely is different and more user-friendly, more power to 'em! But with a $0 price tag and Google saying first off they'll be using open source apps from the community, it makes me think we'll get what we pay for.

Depending on how much work the Google staff puts into it themselves, then yeah I can see it being la revolucion de Linux. Though they were quick to say that they'll be relying on open source apps, which at this point makes it seem like they're going to throw it out and let people have their way with it. If that's the case I don't think it'll gain any traction with OEM's or anyone beyond the open source community. But the OS is a whole year from release so we'll see what Google has planned for it.

As for Bing, personally I don't see a difference between it and it's predecessor, Live Search. Besides the multi-million dollar advertising campaign, that is.

I wouldn't get my hopes up. The way I heard it, Chrome (Google's OS) will be made on a Linux kernel, relying on open source applications, making it oh so reminiscent of Ubuntu and other Linux flavors. I'm sure Google and Linux fans will enjoy it, but I will be purchasing Windows 7 in October and will probably remain unphased by Chrome's release in 2010.

Edit: lol! Seems as if everything I just said was already posted in the other thread!  :cry

I thought of mine after I had left an online gaming community I had been apart of for some years. I suppose I didn't have anything special in mind about words "grunge" and "cat".

As recommended by my brother, I've come to join your ranks. I'm not the biggest LBT fan, but I have seen most of the movies since my twin is such a big fan. :)
