Title: Ali is Unfaithful
Post by: pokeplayer984 on August 28, 2007, 02:54:32 PM
After all the backstabbing resets, errors and such I had to put up with, I am glad to FINALLY be done with my vid.

I did this one for the love of the LBT longneck love triangle that debuted in the TV Series, Littlefoot&Ali&Ret.

I hope you enjoy it.  It definately took a long time to make.  I really wanted to get this right the first time around.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZo9thehvb4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZo9thehvb4)

Please Enjoy!

Note: This was originally 35 MB.  It has been modified to about 7 MB for your convenience. :)

FINALLY!!!  I've been waiting to see this for a long time and I must say that I'm not disappointed.  You did a great job considering the circumstances. :yes

For future information in case you decide to create another music vid, please convert your videos to a frame rate of at least 32fps for slow clips.  I have discovered that they just seem too choppy if you don't have a frame rate of 32fps or higher.  The rest of the vid was fine.  Also, you might want to look into using more programs than WMM.  WMM is my main program as well, but I have discovered that you need more programs including allok video converter, a program I use to repair damaged clips(forgot name), easy video splitter, and photoshop(a nice addition, but I really don't expect you to get or need it).  The fact of the matter is that WMM isn't precise enough to split clips on it's own.  There were a few places in the music vid that were about .3 seconds out of phase.  WMM is a wonderful program, but using it alone is never advisable for complex music vids such as this one.

To be honest, I don't know what took so long.  Your computer must be really bad off. :( If the slowness is your computer's fault alone, it needs some major work.  My computer got this bad off before and I just formatted it.  I would definently recommend a complete format, but since you can't do that, I would consider looking into some registry repair programs, video codec packages, anti-spyware packages, defrag your hard drive, and check it for errors in the blue screen.  Try a program I used called repair xp.  It's very handy and it fixed my problems.

I'm not trying to criticize your work.  It was done incredibly well for your first one.  I'm just trying to point out some helpful tips and I don't mean to cause offence.  It's just some advice and you can take it or leave it.  If you do use other programs, it'll be easier and faster and the finished product will be much better, but in all honesty, if  you put this much time and effort into a music vid, I cannot fault you.  I can tell that this was a lot of work and it was overwhelming for you, especially with all the computer problems.  I admire you for your courage and hope to see more as soon as your computer gets repaired. :)

Is that even possible?

Yeah.  It makes the slow clips much less choppy.  The standard frame rate for a dvd rip is 23fps.  Waaaaay too low.  I personally use 30fps, but I'm gonna go up to 32fps.  I might go even higher if I have more slow clips in a vid like Pokeplayer did.  If I were to make their vid, I would have used 40fps.  The slow clips look so choppy if it's any less than 32fps.  That's the absolute minimum so they don't look choppy. <_< I hate dvd rips.

Then how do you prefer the movies be put on the computer? I've ripped a few DVDs, and I didn't notice any change in the vid's speed.

How can you even change framerates anyway on WMM?

I join the vob files and adjust the frame rate.

Well, you wouldn't notice it.  I believe standard dvd frame rate is 29.76fps.  The human eye can't notice that small of a change.  It's only noticeable when you slow down the clips.

You can't.  You have to use allok video joiner(also converts video files).

Thank you for your comment, LBTlover.  Glad you enjoyed it.

Now, I will tell you that I have taken the time to check out all of the problems with my computer.  First off, I have a limited C Drive of only about 10% of 84.5 GB left to use for projects, new programs, documents, etc.  Simply, it is the main drive where everything is put.  There is esspecially one program that is taking up a good deal of disk space.  However, I need it to transfer my VHS of LBT 3: The Time of the Great Giving.  However, I can't do that until my cousin gives it back, and she loves it so much that it's difficult for her to let go even for an hour.  If I can just get it from her for one and a half hours, it's all I'll need to transfer it.  Once that's done, I can remove the program and be done with it for good.  True I could find a torrent and do it that way, however, those prove to take up way more than what you need.  Plus, the quality that the program I'm using can transfer at has proven to be better than any torrent you'll find on the net.  It'll just be better this way in the end.  Besides, I'm going to need LBT 3 for a number of the future projects I have planned, so I'm definately going to need that program for it.

On top of that, I found to have an unnessacary number of fonts that I will NEVER use for ANYTHING.  How do you get rid of these, LBTlover?  I would like to know. :)

This slow down thing causes some real problems.  For one thing, it tends to stop the coursor from changing. (Like from arrow to pointing finger and such.) When that happens, the only thing I can do is shut down the program, and if I did alot of work and didn't save before it happened, that means I have to do it all over again.

I definately plan to get rid of my brother's gaming files.  He's just not playing them anymore since he really got into the XBox 360 and Wii that we have.  He'll especially be off them less with two of the hottest games about to be out.  That and he's just gone back to school, this time as a Senior in High School.  Plus he's spending alot of time with his girlfriend. (Yeah, I'm jealous! <_<) I don't care how mad he gets.  I'm getting rid of them and his extra unneeded... thing!  Besides, the computer is programed to put it on both, so it's not like I was really destroying everything he had on there, that is until he discovers I destroyed all his games.

I'll be doing a major reformatting tomorrow.  I'm sick and tired of this problem and I'm going to do everything I can to fix it.  One thing's for sure, I'm glad I have tomorrow off to do it all. :)

I guess I should get rid of a few other things I don't need now.  After all, what's the point of having them if you're never going to access them? ;)

Don't expect me to be on tomorrow.  I'll be fixing this computer all day.

And LBTlover, I would invite you to help, but it keeps giving me an error message, even when I try to send it through MSN.  So, sorry! :(

Also, I'll look into those programs you suggested AFTER I'm done reformating this thing.  Hopefully things will be better after that. :)

well, technically, reformatting is totally removing everything on the computer including it's operating system and reinstalling nothing but the OS.  I don't suppose you could do that?  That would fix everything.

go to start, control panel, and click fonts.  Delete any of them you don't need from the window just like you'd delete a file. :)

I have to be online to do it.  I've been off msn for a while.

Also, never put games onto computers unless they were designed for it (ie, a gaming computer).  They slow it down like there's no tomorrow! <_<

Oh dear... deleting another's files without asking them. I never do that anymore. The last time I did, my brother got revenge by deleting some of my stuff. I just think it's safer to ask first before deleting any file that isn't yours.

Why should I bother encrypting them? It just seems like a waste of time, in my opinion, since I have so many files on this computer. It'd take too long. Then again I don't even know how to.

None of us bother encrypting our files because we have a "don't delete what isn't yours" rule.

There's only so much I can remove before I get into major trouble.  So I guess I can't do that, but I can still remove quite a number of things that no one's using and all.

Good point.  I should ask him.  However what I'll do is explain the major problems it's cauing and then ask him.  I'm sure he'll be more in favor of removing them after I do that. ;)

There's one other major problem I hold.  It always happens at 8 am.  Basically, I hold a program that upgrades my virus protection daily at a certian time.  However, when it does it slows down the computer completely.  It takes a little more than 1 hour to complete the process.  I'd be happy if I could just change it to a time when I'm not using it, like when I'm asleep or something.  Like 3 or 4 am?  Yeah, that'd be great! Anyone know how to do something like that?  Just so you know, I have AVG and McAfee Virus Scan. ;)
Title: Ali is Unfaithful
Post by: landbeforetimelover on August 29, 2007, 02:01:18 AM
It's McAfee's program.  I would just remove it.  AVG is all that matters.  It's updates take less than 30 seconds ;)
Title: Ali is Unfaithful
Post by: DarkHououmon on August 29, 2007, 02:21:30 AM
AVG is driving me insane. It constantly has to reboot the computer to complete an update. Doesn't happen all the time, but almost everyday, I see a pop-up that says "To complete the update, it is necessary to reboot the computer." I didn't even press on the Update option. It just updated on its own.
Title: Ali is Unfaithful
Post by: landbeforetimelover on August 29, 2007, 03:15:58 AM
There's something not right with that.  I have NEVER had to reboot my computer for AVG to do an update.  I think you've got some spyware there.  Spyware constantly tells you to reboot so it can get into system files and it makes it look like another program is telling you to reboot.  Am I the only one here with a good working computer? <_<  :(

The little thing about that is that my dad was the one who installed that.  I'd need his permission to remove it.  He's paying good money for it.  Plus, it helps with having a back-up ready in case we really get a virus problem and can't get past the start up system. :) (Have had that happen once in the first year of having my new computer.  Not pretty! :()

On a side note, I've removed about 2 GB worth of unnessacary programs.  The main one I plan to remove after downloading LBT 3 into my computer I found takes up about 5 GB of space.  I'm impressed by that, especially with the fact I paid about $50.00 for it at Best Buy.

Anyways, we should stop with this before a mod gets us.  We've gone WAY off topic. :p

This isn't the type of board where mods close topics just because they got off topic. Anyway, the video is great. I don't like the song though.
As for Ali being unfaithful, I don't like to believe this was what the producer of LBT 4 had on his mind for Ali's return. The Ali we saw on the tv series just isn't the real one.

Considering my limited amount of space at this point, at least until I get my brother's permission to remove his stuff, along with my cousion's to get the movie back that I need and remove the big 5 GB program, I felt it best to do so.  Right now, with all my problems, I'm limiting my video projects to up to 10 MB until I can get rid of the real problematic programs.

I have the next one in mind.  The next one will have far more variety to use as I'll be referencing to the entire Gang of Five that we know and love.  It also has already been given a song choice.  It's "I Never Had A Dream Come True" by S Club 7.  I hope to have it done sometime next month.

Well, I'll be seeing you later! :^.^:

Hey, pretty darn good, man. Being a big fan of Ali, I simply loved the MV. It was awesome, though much like what DarkHououmon said, I wasn't exactly fond of the song. XD But that's no matter. It was still well put together, and seeing that it was a MV about Ali gave it a plus. So, overall, great MV, dude.

Totally agree with you, NewOrder. That Ali was nothing more than a fake. We were all hoping for a great return, but they went ahead and ruined her character.  :cry  That ticked me off because I'm one of her biggest fans (She is my favorite in the series despite only one movie apperances), and I was so let down by her return. The LBT4 Ali is the real one, not that cheap ripoff just used to hype people up, and I know I sound a bit extreme, but this is how I feel.

Anyways, good luck with your future projects NewOrder.  :wave

I'm just going to throw my two cents into the bin and say that the Ali in the "Brave Longneck Scheme" episode seemed to me like the same old Ali. Gullible, stuck-up (you may have a better term for it), naive, and whatever else you can think of. It was a bit surprising to me that she shunned her old friends at first, but that was probably just a result of all of those characteristics mounting up against her.

EDIT: I thought pokeplayer984 made this project, and not NewOrder.

Pokeplayer did make this music video.

I didn't really notice anything that strange or fake about the Ali in the episode. There was really nothing fake about her. Remember, in LBT4 she claims that she doesn't always remember where she was, and where she's been, and plus we have to consider just how long it's been since she's seen LF and the gang. Her personality can really change in that large amount of time, especially if she was around only longnecks in that amount of time. Her old fears of other species could have started to resurface, which could have contributed to her behavior in the episode.

I am very sorry to announce this, but I really can't seem to get into my next video and have the determination to finish it like I did with this work of art.

The biggest problem is that I seem to have trouble figuring out what to put in next. (Hmm, what would it be called to match the similar problem of writer's block to a story for a music vid?) So, until further notice, I won't be making vids.  Perhaps I just don't see it as my thing like I do with making stories and this was just something I really wanted to do.

Anyways, that's really the bad news.

So sorry, but no vids for now. :(

Oh, and NO asking requeststo try and get me back into it.  Chances are that I won't be able to do them as my stuff comes much more from pure imagination and much less from a suggestion. -_-

Well, when you get down to it, it's hardly a surprise that it has gotten over 7500 views in the 3 months it's been around.

At the time I started creating it, Unfaithful by Rihanna was one of the most popular songs on the net. (Still is today.) You add in LBT, which has become one of the best children's series of all time.  Mix in the most popular couple in the whole series, Littlefoot&Ali.  And throw in a charcter that has the possibility of making the couple NOT become Cannon, and you've got the recipe to make a really good fanmade music video.

The results I've seen thus far for my vids have hardly surprised me. :)

well, technically, that is pokeplayer's place to flag the video. it technically isn't stealing, if it is free.

It's plagiarism.

Once Pokeplayer is informed then everything is up to Pokeplayer whether any action is taken or not.

I have just flagged it.  Hopefully, the mods will listen and fully remove it.

Thank you for informing me of this.

No one takes my hard work and gets away with it. :mad

plagiarism

noun
1.  a piece of writing that has been copied from someone else and is presented as being your own work
2.  the act of plagiarizing; taking someone's words or ideas as if they were your own

plagiarism

Literary theft. Plagiarism occurs when a writer duplicates another writer's language or ideas and then calls the work his or her own. Copyright laws protect writers' words as their legal property. To avoid the charge of plagiarism, writers take care to credit those from whom they borrow and quote.

Plagiarism doesn't just apply to stories, but anything else someone might work on. (Videos, games, art, etc.) It is an offensive as serious as stealing.

So, techinically speaking, it is STILL stealing even though it's free.

After all, I worked hard on that thing.  I don't want anyone stealing it. -_-

Great!  After blocking him and having the mods remove the vid, he had to just go and put it back up.

Well, I then decided to send him a message, requesting him to remove the vid.  So I go writing the message, in the most sincere way I could for this guy, and I find out that he has the "friend lock" on.  So, in order for me to send the message I have to send a friend invite and have him accept it.

As for now, I've sent him the invite, but if he doesn't listen after that, things are going to get ugly.

I just sent him a message myself. He has also stolen the works from other YT members, myself included. I thought he only posted up mine because I did not upload to YT anymore, but he's also uploaded videos that already exist on YT it seems.

I fell a little bad, now. I noticed that the video link that poekplayer984 posted wasn't down yet, so a made a couple of comments. This "mahmood1993" guy made a whim-whamsy replay, and I really gave him a lot of beef over it. I certainly didn't soft-pad anything. After reading my latest comment, it did sound a little cruel, but I didn't like getting whim-whamsied around. Mabey that'll get our point across. It looks like a "Avesfox" joined the fray. :)

It's kinda sad, actually. He didn't even make the effort to change the description or tags. Talk about lazy :\

Well, he lost all his vids.  He he!  That's what you get for commiting plagiarism. :^.^:

Hopefully, he will learn from this. :)

It seems he removed the vids himself. Or at least he removed your video himself, Pokeplayer. Maybe my warning got through to him. I told him he could end up getting banned if he didn't remove videos he posted up without permission.

And of course he got pressure from other members as well. I hope he doesn't do this again.

Accounts are as disposable as free email accounts....if you think he's gone, think again.    He'll just get a new account...he's annoyed you and won.

Put credits in your video, you'll know forevermore who the owner is regardless of who uploads it.

I don't think he's lost his account; just the videos.

How do you like that? I tried to PM him an apology for yelling at him, but he "enabled friend lock," and I can't even apologize unless he adds me ad a friend, which he's unlikely to do unless I apologize in the first place. Is there some way I can get around the lock or something?

I think there's more to this. If you'll look at his profile (http://www.youtube.com/mahmood1993), he has added Threehorn's recent video that is discussed here (http://www.gangoffive.net/index.php?topic=2327.0&#entry8924431) to his favorites list. This is too pecilular. I think he's cruising this board and browsing for YouTube videos to plunder or something. I wouldn't be surprised if he views this topic regularly as a guest.

Maybe some can keep watch on him, and warn the original creators of the video of they can be found out and do whatever they deem needed.

Why should we have to suffer and spend our time doing that?  Put credits in your video and unless he's physically splicing each video, its obvious who the creator is, not the uploader.  Youtube is full of duplicate videos.  This isn't that unusual.  Put you name to the work and your work is protected (or your video suffers a horrible quality loss in trying to edit them again).

And adding credits would be best not just at the end but the beginning and perhaps as a subtitle that appears somewhere during the video.  Small and unobtrusive.  They the person editing would have to paint it out.

and seeing how lazy these thieves are about making their own videos, I highly doubt they'd have the patience to go frame by frame and edit out the names

good idea, Kor!

Well, I have a VERY nice announcement to make about my vid.  Ali is Unfaithful has reached the Top 5 Most Viewed within my own profile.  Considering its been up against some tough competetors from the start, it just shows how good of a vid it is.  Within the 5 months its been around, it has gotten 19,500+ views, enabling it to beat The Mad Song, which took 9 months to accomplish the same feat.  It is not too far behind from the original version of Big Water, but still has a ways to go to beat Friends For Dinner, Eggs and The Legend of the Lone Dinosaur.  Still, averaging at 130 views a day?  It just might have what it takes to beat them all. :)
