I feel kinda sad looking at this....and a little repulsed...I wonder if any one's gonna get sued over this.
-
I don't know if I should laugh or cry. Surely this is just a bootleg of some sort? It's such an obvious copy...
-
Hello:
It sure is, and I don't think it will get any popular. If I were them I should have made a bit more of effort and create some characters and not to make some copy-paste-editinginpaint.
-
Holy crapola! :o God, I'm gonna puke :x This is the worst rip off I've ever seen. :x :mad
-
I have the "movie" that game seems to be based on :lol
Remember watching the first few minutes when I visited you in London Littlefoot1616?
Really, the movie looks like it was produced with Powerpoint ;)
-
It looks like I drew the characters.
-
Umm... o.o I have no idea what to say about that game.
-
The movie it was based on has really nothing to do with the land before time. Though that character named Cree does resemble Petrie to some degree it has otherwise almost no similarities. Parts of the movie are just so bad that they are almost good again for being so extremely bad ;)
None of the characters on the cover of the movie is included in the movie by the way (at least not with that outward appearance). You cannot even tell the species of most characters as they look so much like nothing that ever roamed the earth.
Could any of you tell for sure what species Cree (the character whose face looks a bit like Petrie) is supposed to be?
-
My eyes! It burns us! AAAH!! Take it AWAY! TAKE IT AWAY! AAAH!!!!!!1111
Those aren't even dinosaurs, those are figments of my worst nightmares!
-
They look like mutants who escaped a science lab, in my opinion.
-

it actually looks like Universal puked up on some radioactive waste
-
did ya'll catch the story of this bizzaro cheeseball thing?
Dinosaur Adventure
The egg cracked and the father screamed its a boy. After a few days the young dinosaur wandered off and got lost. While he was lost an earthquake took place and volcanoes erupted.
Finally he found his way home only to find everything was lost. Only ashes and lava were left and there was no trace of his family. This is the beginning of a long and adventurous story.
-
That picture of Petrie's mutilated cousin looks like my dog drew it. :lol Looks like it was done in paint by my grandpa too.

What are those things? Miniature King's Fools or something?
-
What is the world coming to?????????
Are tons of thirteen year olds and their 8 year old siblings creating the drawings for video games and tv shows now? Have they gotten sick and tired of hiring decent artists? Awwww! Get that atrocity off of my screen! :bang :bang :x
-
Maybe they hired 3-6 year old artists to cut down on production costs.
-
You should see some of the other rip-offs they have. LOL.
-
Not a rip off but Universal's We're Back: A Dinosaur's Story had characters that looked somewhat close to the original LBT characters.
-
This has too many likenesses to LBT. Universal should sue. They could use the money to hire better writers and have better LBT movies.
The game, at least.
-
No it hasn't. I saw the movie and it has almost nothing in common with LBT. Trust me, if LBT was remotely similar to this movie none of us would be here today.
-
correct.
if they made that instead of LBT and we saw it as we were children.. We'd hate our parents for having us watch it and be scarred for life
-
Remember watching the first few minutes when I visited you in London Littlefoot1616?
As painful as it is to recollect Malte, yes I do remember that sorry excuse for a animation skit :lol I know of a few LBT games out there but this is definitely NOT one of them (*sighs* Thank God!). Although, I did notice some cheap budget game company did happen to remake An American Tail as a video game for PS2 not too long ago. It's pretty much "the game of the movie" styled VG (to which most of them are usually an abomination <_< ) but still, could be a possibility that if they've hit on AAT and digitised it....who knows, maybe LBT maybe next. Hope it doesn't look anything like that sellotape-held piece of dribble though LOL! :lol
-
It seems like most games based on movies or series tends to be pretty bad.
-
I don't what I should do here blow my brains out or set myself on fire. This is like a rip off of several movies I've seen before. Someone tell me what the deuce is this? :( :x :x :bang :cry <_< ;) -_- :mad
-
I can just repeat that this "movie" was not a rip off of LBT. It may be the only thing left that can be said on behalf of that "movie", but I don't think there was much copying from any other movie. I am a bit surprised that everyone is jumping to conclusions about a movie of which you have seen only the cover and a few pictures which (excepting the face of Cree) look nothing like LBT.
-
I'm surprised it hasn't made it to youtube yet.
-
What in God's name is that? What a rip!
-
They might as well call it "the earth before time" :lol
-
Or the Turd Before Time
AVGN needs to rip this a new one
-
AVGN needs to rip this a new one
That would be funny. :lol
-
I cannot repeat it often enough; whatever else may be said about this cheap production, it is not a rip off of LBT (it might have been an improvement if it had been).
-

I don't think it's a rip-off either, to be honest.
So far the only thing from the game I've seen that looks anything like Land Before Time is that screenshot of the Petrie-like character. And in my opinion that isn't enough to justify it as a rip-off.
-
Hello:
Sometimes we need to give something a chance to really know what is all about. Maybe that game is not what it seems, maybe the authors decided to put a movie to help understand the game's story, but I think the important should be the game itself, maybe it is funny, and I wouldn't be too amazed if they come up with something funnier to play than any LBT game I have seen :P:
-
I don't like many LBT games. They're always like "help Littlefoot find the red circle"
-
I don't like many LBT games. They're always like "help Littlefoot find the red circle"
I used to have three of the LBT games, and the only one I really liked was the Activity Center one. It had a game where you had to play as Cera and go through a maze and find certain items, but you would every now and then get chased by Sharptooth, in which if he caught up with you you had to drop all your items.
-
I remember that game. But all I had was the trial version and Sharptooth never chased me. He just roared and disappeared and nothing bad really happened, not from what I recall. The only other option I had was the coloring book.
-
there were games made for the Gamebody Color, Gameboy Advance and the Playstation... one of the GBA versions looks pretty well made and quiet a challenge
-
Sadly most LBT games are not exactly our level (most people here can count up to ten, and tell shapes and colors from each other). There are also some LBT jump and run or LBT racing games. One LBT CD-Rom I have (titled LBT "kindergarten adventure" I think) includes and LBT flipper game. For those of us who don't like jump and run or racing games (that includes me) there is not much on the market I'm afraid -_-
A long time ago we were planning on a land before time adventure game, but we never got beyond the very first preliminary planning stages. This is the thread (http://www.gangoffive.net/index.php?topic=606.0) on the matter. I don't have as much time as I would like to have these days (did I ever? :lol) but if some of you have the interest and the know how (I think some of you who have joined after the project fell into a coma have considerable knowledge in this field) I would be happy to help where I can help (having next to no knowledge about programming myself).
-
I just read that topic, Malte, and I find it quite interesting. I'd like to help out with this, but I don't think I could do a project like this. Maybe a few others here would be more willing to work on this.
-
hmm...
well...
how would ya'll like me to do it?
3D? (example work)

I was going to wait on this subject and not reveal much of my plans.. Action did already tell me about the failed project weeks ago and I've steadily offered my experties and tackle the project single handedly
the screenshots above are just a pinch of my work, not even my greatest achievements. just simple samples of test code projects and a small sample of my graphics skills
so.. what will it be?
-
Hello:
That is awesome! it looks like you can really help making a LBT game :DD .
-
Not bad. If these are only minor samples, then I can't to see what you'll come up with. :yes
-
Art isn't the only issue. One would certainly need to know a considerable amount of java programming to create a decent multimedia LBT game. Unless they did that using java. I'm going to go up to the college next year and take classes on java programming. I'll be able to help a lot in a couple of years.
-
java scripting? nah, man, I never use Java in my coding.. though it does help if embedding a game into a website =)
-
Embedding into a webpage is javascript. I'm talking about java programming. It's totally different. Javascript is super easy, whereas java programming is a lot harder and more useful.
-
Goodluck, whichever direction you folks decide to go in.
-
java programming is a lot harder and more useful.
I know enough Java that I could assist in making a Java LBT game. I could release a sample Java 2d movement engine (complete with graphics and maps generated by text files and external graphics files) that I wrote earlier this year if anyone is interested.
Still though, I do Not approve of Java as being the primary language for our major LBT game...simply because java is run entirely in virtualization. I would rather use a language that operates within the realm of the physical machine/operating system rather than rely on a virtual machine to run our game completely separate from the rest of the computer. that is the one thing I never liked about Java - virtualization. yes, it makes it able to be compatible with everything, but I find it rather clunky in its own way...I'm just not a fan of virtualization in general...I can only imagine how difficult 3D java games would be to program...2d isn't too bad but 3d may be painful
-
I've heard that java and visual basic were the two primary languages programmers use to create games. I know a little visual basic, enough to create an indexing database and a web browser similar to IE but I don't know enough to be of much use in this section. In college, I plan to learn Java, C++, Visual Basic, and C. That'll come in handy. I'm getting pretty good at java script right now, which might be useful sometime.
-
Seems some have decided to use Javascript, but have you folks decided if you want to go 2d or 3d?
-
Well, if you go 2D, you can keep closer to the art style. If you go 3D, the game can be more immersive, but harder to make. I say 2D.
-
Up to the folks going to make it, of course. But they can try for a small game, or demo in 2d. Do the first 1 or several in 2d to get the feel of things so to speak. Then maybe try a small section or demo in 3d. Then decide which they decide is best.

Look at the site logo in the link. "Super Budget Publisher" says it all.
In reality, though, I, too, don't think it's an LBT rip-off, just because it happens to include dinosaurs. Just because it has dinosaurs in it doesn't automatically make it an LBT clone.
-
pardon this if it's deemed "ungood words":
oh.... my god... what the hell?
(god is lowercase because it refers not to a specific god)

That¥s what I always thought about. It¥s a story like the one of LBT. But in the game you can read that he found his home destroyed and that was nowhere in the movie.
-
I can't believe this dumb game has generated 54 posts (55 now :p ). It just goes to show you how dumb this game really is. :lol
-
my eyes feel like there gunna bleed, my mouth is dry ,my face is numb, look at it and spun out in my room, holy s*** this is crap :o  :mad :x <_< :(
-
From what I've heard so far, the story is about a baby apatosaurus who gets his home destroyed. He then assumedly heads out to find a new one.
There doesn't seem to be any characters except him and his short-lived father. Why are there 4 other characters on the front cover?
-
Wait, make that three. Cera and Spike got merged into one  .

Sorry, but that information is not correct.
As for the characters in the movie, you can forget those you see on the cover, they are much better looking (!) than what you get to see in that movie.
I haven't watched that movie since I got it in early 2004. The main character (I think his name was Tio) is impossible to ascribe to any kind of dinosaur species. His parents (both of them appear in the movie and both of them life to see the end of it) remotely resemble Iguanodons, but it really takes a lot of good will to identify them as such.
The other main character of the story is Cree, the Petrie like creature you saw in one of the pictures. There are a couple of other characters, but I don't recall the names.
The story is really very strange and involves a dinosaur building a seismograph and caves with torches hanging on all the walls (though there is no reference where those torches are coming from). Apart from quite a few subplots the main plot is about the main character and some others being separated from their parents after a big volcanic eruption. After a long quest they find back to their parents.
The animation of the movie is truly dreadful.
There were a couple of funny dialogues and a few ideas which were somewhat interesting, but the realization of those ideas was really poor.
-
What in the Great Valley? :o
Am I seeing the cover of a PS2 game or a coloring book cover? :lol
I'd say this game is made of pure badly invested budget. :x
Im sorry, but I've seen better LBT games than this. And who's the green dinosaur in the cover? A fusion from Cera and Spike? I mean, what the heck?
-
On the side from what i see here I have played real LBT games that came out for Gameboy colour, advance and PS one. One of my favs had to be the unqiue race game they made. Called Land Before Time: The Great Valley Race (if I remember currently but I still got the game)
-
Im confused. So is this game based on the movie that Malte described, or is it completely unrelated? I'd never seen nor heard of either befpre reading these post, so all my information comes from this thread.
Sorry about misinterpreting the info, Malte.
-
I have written it before and I am writing it again. The movie this thread is about never had anything to do with LBT at all. This is a misinterpretation of people here on this board. That dinosaur movie was in no way related to LBT they didn't even steal ideas from LBT (doing so might perhaps have improved that movie).
I don't know if there is a game based on this dinosaur movie. I only ever saw that movie. In any case there is no link whatsoever between this cheap movie, or any games that may be based on it, and LBT
-
Does that mean I misinterpreted the info again? D'oh! :bang
-
ow f*ck i though my fanfics are the worst! no it is this cover!
-
Your fanfics can't be anywhere near as bad as that cover, if they're bad at all.
-
Maybe that is what Spike saw when he ate some mushrooms he should not have. Reminds me of a silver or bronze age green lantern I read not to long ago, but that is off topic.
-
Maybe that is what Spike saw when he ate some mushrooms he should not have.
Is there such a story in one of the TV episodes? :(
It confirms my worries that there are ideas in the TV episodes which I had for stories too. Some ideas are just to obvious not to make use of. But if the episodes don't leave enough new to the own stories they become less worthwhile to type at all.
-
No, they'd never do anything like that in the tv series.
-
Just like every hit movie comes some cheap knock off. It happend with Cars and Finding Nemo.
To me, it all looks fake and photoshopped, like it was a LBT fan's fancharacters or something.
-
Really, that "movie" is not related to LBT in any way whatsoever. Trust me, I have seen it. It is a very cheap production, but it cannot be accused of being an LBT rip off (maybe if it was it would have improved the movie ;)).
-
Whoever made this should be sued I how can you not recognize what they ripped off it seems way to obvious and that's the worst cover art I've seen.
-
It is an extremely bad movie, but not a rip off. Had they made any attempts to rip off land before time perhaps this movie might have ended up being a little better than it is.
Having seen the movie I cannot say why anyone would think of it as a rip off of LBT. That's like claiming a pebble to be a rip off of a diamond. Both are stones and that's pretty much where the similarity ends. In case of the two movies there are dinosaurs (or rather something that's supposed to be dinosaurs in case of this movie) but that's about where any similarity ends.
Where on earth does anyone see sufficient similarity to call it a rip off?
-
Well to be honest look at he cover art and tell me that its style and characters do not look similiar to LBT but really the only thing I do know that ripped LBT off was Disneys Dinosaur it stole some of LBT's story and the "valley" concept.
-
The searching for the "blessed land" is a very old concept that can be found in really ancient stories already. In Disney's dinosaur it was used as well and I would say Disney's Dinosaur came closer to an LBT rip off (but I would not actually say it really is a rip off either) than this other "movie" did.
-
Well everyone on this topic was saying how bad it is, I thought that cover art was hilarious.
The simularities between LBT and whatever the hell that is are in the characters. They fused Spike and Cera together. I love it.
-
That Cera Spike combination exists on the cover only though. Nothing from the cover is actually in the movie. The cover flatters the movie.
-
so is the movie's title the same, if it was then what the heck how could the creaters have come up with such a lame title I bet I could go to the nearest Kmart or whereever and see hundreds of things with"Dinosaur Adventure" slapped on the front heck, those THINGS on the cover aren't even dinosaurs :lol
-
If I get a laptop, external hard drive and a video camera for chirstmas. This will be the first game I will review.
-
well then I can't wait to see that review :smile
-
You seriously want to inflict that upon yourself? :lol
-
eh,no why would I
-
Dude, it's the long-lost Land Before Time game on CD-i!
-
I wouldn't even buy this for my 3 year old kid, let alone myself! It's too lame even for a 2 year old. :p :lol I wonder how many copies they've sold? Probably less than the number of posts this topic has generated.
-
hmm I guess out of all the copies of this abomination that was made I bet only 1 was even sold. the only way anyone would buy this game is if they were conned into it or paid really well :lol :p and Jedi472 I don't think this is the LBT CD-I game the coverart shown that it was on PS2.
-
I know, it was a joke.
-
heck, I actually thought it was that game when I saw the screenshot of the mutated Petrie :lol
-
I rented a LBT activity game from the library for years ago, and I remember there were a maze.
-
I rented a LBT activity game from the library for years ago, and I remember there were a maze.
I think I downloaded it last year.....but I doubt it would work on Vista so I haven't even tried it yet. I lost it some time ago.
-
Landbeforetimelover how old are ya.You have a kid who is 3?
-
Landbeforetimelover how old are ya.You have a kid who is 3?
He does not have a kid ;). He's just sayin' that, if he had a three year-old, he would not get the game for him or her. As for his age, he's not even twenty years old yet :yes.
-
OH MY GOD...THE HORROR!!!
-
I'm almost too frightened to ask what in the world this dude was under the influence of when he did this dreadful cover art .
-
(http://www.phoenixgamesgroup.com/images/packshots/dinosauradventurebig.jpg)
Looking at the Box Art, it looks like it might actually be a cute little game. Looking at videos on Youtube of the supposed "Gameplay" I honestly dont know what to say..
That little.. Um.. Stegoceratops though looks an awfull lot like Spike. Stegoceratops, might try making a critter like that on Spore.. :lol Same goes for that critter, looks an awfull lot like Littlefoot..
The year it was made though kinda bothers me. By 2006, graphics on the PS2 improved ALOT and the "Graphics" on this game, i dont know what to say.. :wow
If they would have made gameplay, graphics, cutscenes, story, etc. a bit better, the game might have been fairly good. Sad really, looking on the one game site that has walkthroughs and stuff, there was only one tag for this game: Crap :lol :lol :lol :lol
Indeed it's a real Land Before Time imitation(Or atleast the Petrie look alike and the box art), i kinda like the Box art though. Dont hit me!! :smile
-
^ See, that's what you get from your crazy LBT pairing game :p
