My name is Austin. I am an avid Land Before Time fan, and I want to get to know all of the people on this site. So please, post away! :wave
-
Greetings, Austin,
this is my second day in this community, and I can tell you right now that this has been one of the most welcoming communities I've ever encountered on the web.
The true welcoming committee will be here any moment now to roll out the red carpet and treat you as an honored guest.
Welcome, friend, and merry meet!
Aves, the Forum Fox
-
Thank you for the warm welcome. I hope that the other members have a similar welcome.
-
Hello and welcome!
-
Hello to you too. Post often. :wave
-
Welcome!
-
Welcome to GOF :wave . Feel free to start posting if you want in any thread or start your own. I wonder if there is any cakes or ice cream for new arrivals to enjoy hidden way somewhere.
-
Hi and welcome to the Gang of Five! :D :wow
I don't have time for much of a greeting right now but let me just say we're more than happy to have you on board. Look forward to meeting you on the forum! B)
-
Hello Austin, hello. :)
Welcome to the GOF. Enjoy your stay and have fun.
-
Welcome with us Austin :)
Although I am repeating what other members of our community already said I don't think there is any harm in repeating that you are very welcome and hearty invited to join our discussions or start threads of your own :yes
What does the 42 in your Avatar stand for?

I wondered the same...
A Nascar fan perhaps?
-
I'd just like to say hello and welcome to the GOF forum!
-
Sorry for the late reply. I've been gone all day, but welcome to the GOF! If you truly love the land before time, you'll love this message board! :D I don't know how many members know this, but my name is also Austin. A lot of you probably do because Petrie and Malte usually address me as Austin on the board. Anyways, I hope you have a fun time here and remember to post often! :yes
-
I know that LBT lover^^. Very nice welcome Austin, hope you„ll have a nice time here and find lots friends. Please feel hearty and enjoy our discussions :^.^:
-
There's one thing I want to know, though. If you are a "Land Before Time Lover," then what is "CTY?"
-
For all who wonder, the 42 actually is the Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything. It is from Douglas Adams.
-
There's one thing I want to know, though. If you are a "Land Before Time Lover," then what is "CTY?"
CTY stands for Center for Talented Youth. It is a summer camp where I have so much fun with other people who are talented.
-
Now that most of the introductions are out of the way the wild party can get started. Including the guy doing a party trick to entertain the guests. :slap

Talented? I would like to hear more about this. :D

Here is the best website for it. RealCTY (http://www.realcty.org). Hosted by CTY students.
-
But if you're a part of this, then you must be exceptionally talented in some area. This is a thread about you, after all. :P: Is there something you're really good at?
-
Why, hello there! Call me Lain. Enjoy your stay here and post lots!

I'm okay at the Rubik's Cube. My record is 31 seconds.

I'm okay at the Rubik's Cube. My record is 31 seconds.
Wow, I cant even get it done in an hour
I've just never took the time to practice, of coarse
-
I'm okay at the Rubik's Cube. My record is 31 seconds.
I'm not much of a Rubik's cube fan, but my brother does it every now and then. I forget what his record was. Was it an hour, a minute, or something less? I know it was pretty quick.
-
Welcome to the forum!
-
N-Cha! Welcome to the forum :D ! Hope you'll love it as much as I do!
Hope to meet you around here :)
Starfall
-
Didn't know folks still did the rubix cube. I use to try at that. The closest I got to finishing was getting 2 sides a few times.
Are you having a lot of fun yet on the forum? I certainly hope you are.

Question: what is with the superlatives?
-
Question: what is with the superlatives?
Uh... pardon? I don't know what you are referring to. I know what superlatives are, but I don't know what you're getting at.
-
I mean with some of the older members, there are these boxes with stuff like "Best Gamer 2006". That is what I meant.
-
Those are called signature awards. I wasn't around when they did this year's, so you'll have to ask one of the admins or someone else more familiar with the process than me. :)
-
Thanks. They seem like superlatives though.
-
They're not "just superlatives." They're awards handed out for good behavior, participating in TGOF projects, etc. Again, I don't fully understand the process, myself.
-
I guess the admin are the best ones to ask about that. They are easy to spot. They are the ones in the wild party hats that say Admin. :)
-
Probably.
-
Those signatures are awards voted on every year (for two years so far) in spring by all active members of the GOF who have posted at least a 100 times. Those awards which include the title of a song are given to those who participated in the singing project of that song.
-
Thanks Malte. That is all I needed to know.
-
That signature messes up the threads for me. It makes it hard to sort through the posts.
-
I fixed it. Is it better now?
-
Well... you really didn't have to change it before, but your change makes reading threads less confusing. Thanks! :)
-
Welcome.
-
100th POST!!!!
-
100th POST!!!!
Now you're eligible for the next forum awards next April. :)
-
So... I guess the requirements are that one must have registered in the previous year and accumulated 100 posts by the time of the awards choosing?
-
Yes indeedy.
-
Don't we have the award voting rules of the last year saved somewhere Petrie? It might be a good idea to make them a sticky topic though there might still be the need to modify the rules same as we did last year for the election to be more than a mere poll etc.
-
Likely may have to modify or change the rules based on last year's doings. Can't progress if things are left the same all the time.
-
100th POST!!!!
Now you're eligible for the next forum awards next April. :)
What are the categories? By the way, I am also able to nominate and vote for people for these member awards, right?
-
welcome to the GOF enjoy your stay and hope you post lots :)
-
I already have over a hundred posts.
I am in two RPGs, one of them started by myself.
I have my own fan-fiction.
I have also seemed to be the reviver of long "dead" topics.

No point in posting all the info so soon. We'll have it squared away by March so you'll know what's going on before voting. We usually add/drop new or old awards come February. We'll talk about it then.
Yes, you can nominate and vote.

Yes, you can nominate and vote.
We can also suggest new categories, right?
-
We've only done it two years now. The admins made all the changes last time because some awards were worthy of being added, and others there was big debate whether to keep them or not.
-
:wave Heya lbt/cty lover :wave
Welcome aboard the GOF forum. Jeez! 100+ posts already huh? Definitely the enthusiast! That's what we like to see ;) Doubt there's much point in me saying "make yourself at home and post lots", you seem to have that down to an art form already! :^.^:
Good to have ya with us!

Yes, the admin likely have to fight over the rules and catagories. We see the results after all the backroom fighting, blackmail, deals, bribes and such are over. :lol

Each single one of the admins has battalions of hired saps at his command to make clear the own point of view in case of disagreement <_<
Not quite :lol

That's why I have the wooden spoon.
-
Sorry...I was away polishing my cannon...what are we talking about?! :lol

We were trying to welcome lbt/cty_lover before y'all admins messed up and revealed that you had weapons and mass armies to quill the crowds. :lol
-
Maybe that is how they like to welcome new members. :lol
-
The thread has kind of moved away from the original welcoming thread :lol
We might want to open an own thread about whatever moved this thread to where it is now.
-
I guess we need to get back to welcoming lbt/cty_lover
-

It is a LBT community after all

cheers!

100th POST!!!!
Deleted! I don't want to get in trouble with the admins.
-
^ Alright, once was enough. I don't like people bragging about post count, and I do delete these types of posts. You're new, so here's your only warning. ;)
-
Speaking of post counts, Nick22 has announced that he has broke the 10,000 post mark. Isn't that something?
-
It is. I'm glad for him. I am just happy that I now have 200 posts. In five days I posted 100 times.
-
And by the way Petrie, I am just announcing. That is just me expressing my happiness. I am not trying to brag. That might be a sub-conscious thing, but I am not bragging on purpose.
EDIT: From now on, I will only do that each time I get a new member rank. No more.
-

If you'll look here (http://www.gangoffive.net/index.php?topic=273) (as you should before you register here), you'll see that such as that is against the rules. You can substitute bragging for "announcing." ;)

That is what I am doing. I am just announcing on special occasions. Personally, I want to get back to welcoming me. For some reason, I want to find a way of welcoming myself without talking to myself.
-
If you want to welcome yourself why not do so.
-
Then I would be talking to myself. I don't want to be considered insane.
I've got it! I will quote a message by me that mentions the word welcome and say thank you. I am technically not speaking to myself!
-
I probably will forget in a little while.
-
Does it really matter how many posts someone has?
-
No it doesn't...that's why there's the rule against bragging or announcing such things.
-
If it were not the weekend and I had 100 posts in 5 days, I would be berating, not congratulating, myself.
