I just watched LBT 9 and I was wondering, when Littlefoot made that cloud out of his head, what was it of, his mother or his borther?  I thought it was a brother at first until I thought that he could just be remembering his mother.  What is it, mother or brother?

Mother.  If I remember the scene correctly his grandma was mentioning about his mother and how she would have loved for him to have a brother.

I agree that it was almost certainly meant to be a reference to the cloud image of Littlefoot's mother we know from the original movie. This cloud however looks so out of proportion for a grownup longneck that indeed one might think of it as a brother.

Interesting theory, I'm pretty sure it's his mother. However, there are several references to Littlefoot wanting a brother, through out the sequels. Remember LBT II?

Being an only child, I understand the feeling, some times I wanted to have a brother, is that a way to try to humanize Littlefoot?
I'm hip, I'm cool. I'm a happening fool

They were talking about how it would have been nice if Littlefoot's mother had had more surviving children, like a brother or something, so I'm going to say it was the brother that he never had. Of course, it could also be trying to imply both, but I doubt it was just his mother it was referring to.

Brother. It is more childish in proportion, and it seems a way to humanize littlefoot, as NewOrder said.

I would add my vote to those who say it is likely a brother that he wishes he had instead of his mother.  If it were his mother I assume the proportions would be different then those I see in the picture.

I found this scene wholly unique for a sequel in general, this is the only time after the first one to have such a cloud isn't it?

and I think it was his mother that is being referred to

I watched the scene in question just to make sure on everything. Littlefoot and his grandparents were talking about how it would have been good for Littlefoot's mother to have given him a brother. Counting every single word uttered that mentioned her, there were 4 references (words like her, she, etc.). Plus, there is the issue of the proportion of the cloud. It was obviously a play on the brother thing, however, the fact that it is similar to a scene from the original movie cannot be ignored. I think that it trying to be both. Possibly the brother alone, but not the mother alone.

from reading up in this topic, my vote would be that the cloud is brotherly

Littlefoot still has a winning chance to have a brother if Bron could find another mate

Surely if Bron is a herd leader he's also one with the ladies

anyway, from reading up in this topic, my vote would be that the cloud is brotherly

not yet, honestly. I've just been reading posts about Bron and um.. watched a few clips on the Tube

I'm guessing I typed something foolish.

let me go back and edit it all out

No, you didn't. It just seemed odd for you to vote on the issue if you haven't even viewed LBT 9.

Bron was in LBT 10 while this cloudimage was in LBT 9. Come to think of it it might have been much more sensible to let that cloud image appear in LBT 10 with indirect reference to Shorty rather than Mo whom Littlefoot "adopts" as a "Mudbrother".
Perhaps it might have even been a good idea to let Littlefoot and his grandparents be guided to the crater by the cloud image rather than through that rather fishy sleepstory business. I am not certain though if this would have really been a good idea as it might have sort of "disenchanted" the cloudimage.

a fool? I went to Borders on the 29th and bought the DVD outright, I only hid it from my cousin, because he can pick on you like you're a frat pledge and it's his job as president...
