Though it may be a third party software developer now, Atari was pretty good in it's earlier days when it dominated the market with Pong and the 2600(which happens to be #1 on my Christmas list this year).  Though, ironically, Atari nearly destroyed the video game industry as well as creating it. *cough*ET*cough*  And its newer consoles (everything AFTER the 2600.  Such as the 5200, 7800 and final system, Jaguar) were horrendously flawed (broken controllers, faulty processors, etc). lol  Beside that, the Atari 2600 defines the word classic and is the holy grail of any console geek's collection.

The oldest thing I have is a now-defunct Commodore 64. Nothing from Atari. All I've heard of them, though, are mostly war stories (remember Pac-Man and ET!).

We have an Atari 2600 up in the attic. I don't even know if it still works. I haven't played it for years. Back in IL, whenever I asked mom or dad to hook up the Atari, they refuse.

But as a little kid, before we had the Nintendo hooked downstairs, I loved playing the Atari. It was the only console that we all played with and enjoyed as a family. I miss those days.
