Title: World War One finishes...
Post by: raga on October 05, 2010, 02:08:57 AM
Well this article pretty much sums up the odd bit of news:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13...al-payment.html (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1315869/Germany-end-World-War-One-reparations-92-years-59m-final-payment.html)

I had no idea those payments were still being made, I never knew they were still being enforced after world war two, since the treaty of versailles was essentially out the window at that point.

they were renegotiated after the war, in 1953, and would start to be collected once Germany was reunified.  i don't know if britia n or france still have oustanding war debts from those wars or if they have been cancelled or forgiven.
