Why is that unusual? A novel can jump over large periods of time, a theatrical play can jump over large periods of time, but a movie can't? Why? If novels and poems can describe worlds so outlandish that is beyond modern CGI technology to make a visual presentation of them, why can't a movie use an innocent technique such as a quick day-night transition to move the plot forward? Why does this bother you, and myriads of other unrealistic things in LBT don't?
