Im afraid Im having a problem with my sites PM.
the members can send a PM no problem.
but I cant reply nor send a PM.
hey roger you know whats wrong?
Did you set it so that you can respond/send PM's for the specific member group?
I'm glad you like it. I really need someone to join though. I put a lot of work into it to just have it sit there and nobody join. I don't exactly know how to advertise about it but I really hope someone joins soon.
That's the sure fire path to failure. You can't just wait and hope people join. Give them a reason to join...start topics, make it like the place is alive and bustling, and your chances for success are that much better rather than waiting for someone to come along and do that for you. They probably won't.
well F14-Ace just have some pacience Im sure thats what rogerrabbit did? right.
Extreme patience. You have no idea how long it took for the GOF to finally go anywhere....maybe Malte can help me out here....I think it was months before any real activity started happening. The biggest problem was that people had no idea the place existed for the longest time. I started putting the link in my siggy at the N54 forum, and that's basically what got me the break. Next, search engines are your friend. Submit your site to them so they index it.
https://login.yahoo.com/config/login?.src=s...om/free/requestThose two things is basically what helped get the GOF where it is just because people knew it existed and checked it out.
Well, I had a Star Wars site too. I deleted it last week because I made it before Christmas and it never got any members.
If it was *just* a Star Wars site, you pretty much were pitting yourself against much more established communities offering the same thing. You need to find a niche in cyberspace. A general-all around board usually will not survive because it is too broad. The exception to the rule is when there are no boards about the topic in the first place and you're the only one; don't put much faith in that if its based on Star Wars...that is one popular franchise, and I can guarantee just about every avenue has been covered with that series time and time again.
I need to know how to attract members. I have no idea how to do that. How do I advertise?
Read what I said above. Make sure its unique in some way for one thing, then submit to search engines, and find other places with members who might show interest in the topic and spread the word. No guarantees. Even established places can fall apart really fast. Malte probably will remember one of the first boards I ran....Dinosaur Dominion on cheezyboard....two years, everything looked fine, and it crashed. :cry2 Warring members made certain of that.
