It might also be that some of the work by German scientists was so radical and groundbreaking that it's just remembered more than the allied breakthroughs and also the post war uses of said breakthroughs. For example the Delta wing and the Swept wing designs. Also the engine designs the BMW 003, and the Junkers Jumo 004. The 003 with the help of Hermann ÷strich later became the Atar which powered the Dassault Ouragan and the Dassault Mirage III both of which were supplied to Israel.

I would think German weapons of WW1 & 2 are so popular because they created weapons that were the first of their kind.  Not THE best, but the first.  The Germans were the first with chemical weapons, jet aircraft (which was the He 178 in 1939, and and no Allied had a more reliable jet engine before then), long-range rockets, assault rifles, battleships, and also to have the largest artillery, powerful tanks, and not to forget the possibilities of aircraft carriers (which were not completed by the end of the war) and the rumors of nuclear weapons.

If it wasn't for a series of factors that played a part on both sides, these weapons would've played a bigger part and the war would've had a different outcome.

I have a question.  I can't seem to find a definate answer anywhere which is surprising.  Anyway, my question is: Does the Messerschmitt BF-109 have an aluminum airframe or is it made of something else?

I also have a question that I can't find an answer to. Do WWII destroyer escorts, Cannon-class for example, carry active sonar or passive sonar (or both)?

I read that the Me-109 had an all metal airframe but the book really did not say what metal was used but I beleive it was aluminum.

WWII Destroyers had Active sonar for sure but I'm not too sure if they had Passive sonar.

#1 Before any of you ask no it's not the F-22 it would have to be the P-51 Mustang. the P-51 is like a old sports car it's sleek, fast, and is just a wonderfully designed aircraft.

#2 if any it would have to be the Tiger 1 tank yes it did have it's flaws but it was one of the most powerful and most well armoured tanks of the war.

#3 For ships I would have to say my favorite it's a tie between the Bismarck and the Hood. Now both these ships did face off but in the space of ten days both of these ships were sunk.

#4 Infantry weapons the Thompson submachine gun. it's my favorite infantry weapon because the eralier models could carry a 100 round drum magazine which the later models couldn't carry but it was still loved by front line troops for it's fire power.

#5 the Xiphos used by the Ancient Greeks it was a double edged single handed sword. It was about 50-60 cm long and very few seem to have survived through history but it was a secondary battlefield weapon.

That just about does it.
