Title: Never Do Anything Together

Here's the discussion thread with further details

http://z7.invisionfree.com/thegangoffive/i...?showtopic=5070 (http://www.gangoffive.net/index.php?topic=4849)

I guess I'll start off with the first post to give you some better idea. I'm using movie characters for set up, but as stated in the discussion, you can take who you want or none and we'll switch around using non-claimed characters as needed. No pressure eitherway

With a final tail lash, since thankfully she had remained undistracted all throughout the battle, Littlefoot's mother sent the Sharptooth down and off the side of a nearby cliff (having nothing do with the any eathshake of course).

She panted, catching her breath, as it became clear to her that the Sharptooth really was dealt with and everything was fine. She turned, "Littlefoot? Are you and the young threehorn alright?".

Littlefoot approached with Cera hesitantly behind. "Y-yes Mother, we're fine" the young longneck rushed forward to nuzzle his mother, and she returned the gesture in gratitude of both children in fact being fine.

Cera shifted uncomfortably, something down deep in her almost knew she should thank this longneck for saving her...but then that was just it, she was a longneck, and Threehorn's did talk to or owe them anything.

"Yeah well...I should be getting back to my daddy", Cera turned and rushed off towards the direction of where she'd last left her herd before wandering off that night and finding the hopper that had lead to the terrifying adventure she'd just had.

~~~~
Meanwhile as the rising rays woke up those not in the immediate area of this previous battle, one young flyer hatchling grinned as she spotted the morning rays. Kit quickly hopped up and flew from her own nest of just her and her father, Tylr, over to where her aunt's nest for the time being was.
"Petrie!" she called, "wake up, you're gonna miss it, we're near a watering hole and the rising bright circle makes cool colors on the water, you said this morning you'd wake up and see it!".
As she reached the nest and shook her cousin who hadn't learned to fly yet and so had very little fun times (something Kit often tried to remedy) there were groans from her other cousins.
"Ki-t, my gosh you're not normal!" one of them said, stuffing his head under a leaf to drown out the noise and go back to sleep, "who cares about some stupid water!".
Off on a nearby rock face on his own, Cree also wasn't finding the young one's loud antics amusing. "Leave it to Tylr..." he grumbled as an unfinished insult on both his brother and said brother's young daughter as he also rolled over and tried to go to sleep. "I swear, I don't know why I stick around!".
~~~~

Off in another herd of crested swimmers, Cory tossed, turned and finally awoke to find his mother talking with some others others of the herd.

"Wasn't there anything today?" Cory's mother asked. The other swimmer shook her head. "I'm afraid not, it looks like the sooner we reached this legendary Valley the better".

Cory's mother sighed, "I only hope it's soon...".

From his nest, where he listened, Cory sighed, "Probably doesn't exist...or if it does there'll be others who won't let us intrude on the land they found" he said to himself suspiciously, it had been his experience with encountering different herds so far.

The rainbow face known by his name of Cyrix turned over onto his belly as the bright circles rays warmed his body, and told him a new day was beginning. After a few moments more of enjoying the warmth the light brought Cyrix stood up and stretched his body. He looked around and sighed as he realized it would be another long day without any food and very little if no water at all. "This is getting rather annoying...even for me." Commented Cyrix to himself aloud. He then shrugged his arms and began walking in a random direction looking for food, water or the person he was looking for.

"Cory we're suppose to stay near the nest until we move off for certain!" one of the young swimmer's sisters called to him as the little swimmer jogged off. Cory turned a smirk back, "and since when has that been fun, don't worry, I won't go far".

He jogged off just a bit from the nest to see if he could find either adventure or food, either one would be a pleasant surprise.

~~~~
"Hurry up, you're missing it" Kit said. Petrie frowned, "Kit, how me suppose to get down to lake anyway...me...well...".
Petrie didn't want to state yet again how he couldn't fly. Kit smiled, "Yeah, I know, just climb, here I'll help". Kit began to climb down a vine from the nest to the ground, "I'll help".
Something about Kit climbing now too made it more embarrassing fro the little flyer, but Petrie followed with a sigh. His mother peered her head over worriedly. "Kit...I'm not sure..." she began, not comfortable with her flightless hatchling going all the way down to the ground.
"No worries there" Tylr flapped over, "I'll watch them, dart him out and up if anything happens". Petrie's mom felt a bit better with this plan, and so hesitantly nodded.
The kids had half climbed half dropped to the ground now and Kit flapped up a bit, but still right next to Petrie, "Ok, come on, it's over here" she flapped over to the small watering hole which was still sparkling from the morning rays.
With a sigh Petrie walked along.
Snork landed in the dust with a grunt.  As he attempted to stand, an old, rugged swimmer kicked him in the stomach, sending him back into the mud.
“I told you to watch for sharpteeth!  Instead, I find you napping!  That’s what you get for slacking off on the job!”
Snork croaked as he sat up, “Well if you’d let me sleep at night, I wouldn’t have this problem!”
He began to wipe the mud out of his face but the older swimmer grabbed him and pressed his face back into the mud.
“Don’t you ever raise your voice at me!  Understand?”
“Yes, father.”
The old swimmer released Snork and hissed venomously, “I don’t know what your mother ever saw in you.”
Snork waited for his father to leave before attempting to get up.  Now, more than ever, he wanted to get away.  All Darin ever did was abuse him and exploit him.  As far as Snork was concerned, he was a slave to his father.  He already have various scars from his father's abuse.  he had heard tales of the Great Valley but Darin, his father, insisted that no such place existed.  this was a depressing, pointless existance and snork longed to find something better in life.  He wanted to escape his father's abuse and find this "Great Valley".  Unfortunately, with no knowlege of its location, and not daring to set out alone, he was stuck here for now.
Snork let out a sigh of sadness and went back to his duty.
Cyrix's wandering had led him to a small pond. He was ever so grateful, but he was still extremely cautious as he knew that even this small amount of water could attract anything thirsty enough to come this way, including sharpteeth, but after making sure it was indeed safe, Cyrix darted forward and drank as much as he could. "This day...just got a little bit better." He said loud as he stared up at the sky.
Night came and the herd settled down for the night.  Snork was forced to remain on "sharptooth duty" again.  He hated it.  The more he thought about running away, the more he actually wanted to do it.  He tried to talk himself out of it but finally, the urge became too much.  By midnight, Snork had made up his mind.  The swimmer looked around to make sure nobody was watching, and then off he went.  He didn't even know which direction he was going.
He knew one thing was certian.  He needed to find someone who could at least give him directions.  Snork kept running until morning, by which time he realized he was completely lost.  Up ahead, he could see a pond.
"Water." he whispered to himself.
The swimmer walked until he could reached the water's edge and began drinking.  There were others at the lake as well so he kept his distance.  Then he wondered if they may know anything about the Great Valley.  Not far away, Snork saw a rainbow face.  His father had banned him from speaking to anyone of a different species but now that he was free of his father, Snork felt that he should ask for directions.  The only problem was, he didn;t know what to say.  It was improper for anyone to associate with a different species and the rainbow face may not even answer him.  For now, Snork was just sat down on the bank and drank the cool water.
Cyrix took a moment to look up and noticed a swimmer sitting at the other end of the pond. He smiled to see that his theory was right, and at least it hadn't attracted any predators. He blinked as he thought to himself 'It would be nice to have someone to talk to around here...' Cyrix then made up his mind and walked over to Snork and reached out to shake the swimmers hand.
"How are you...my name is Cyrix." he said with a grin.
Snork was rather surprised that therainbow face approached him so quickly.
"Uh, hi.  My name is Snork. Um, I'm looking for the Great Valley.  You wouldn't happen to know where that is, whoud you?"
Cyrix smiled at hearing the Swimmer respond so openly. But a moment later he frowned as Snork asked his question.
"I'm sorry, but I've only heard of it in stories, and myths. I personally believe it is real, but I can't be sure." He too a moment to take a breath before speaking again.
"It turns out however, that I'm looking for my nephew, I lost him a while ago as we were separated, you haven't seen him around have you?" Cyrix skillfully leaving out the detail that his nephew was a flyer.
"You were saved by a what?!" Mr. Threehorn asked his daughter. "A--a longneck" Cera answered hesitantly, "the mom of that one you wouldn't let me play with".
From the group of Cera's sisters a snicker was heard, but Topsy's quick glare cut it off.
"Well...I'm glad you're alright" Cera's father said, "now...let's get on with our move, I think the herd's rested long enough" Topsy walked out to get the other threehorn's of his herd moving out once more.
"Wow" one of Cera's sister said, coming over, "a longneck?". "Yeah, well, it was that little longnecks' fault the dumb sharptooth spotted us anyway" Cera grumbled out.
~~~~

"Kit, why you not go have fun with flyers that can fly?" Petrie asked, the morning colors on the water watching had worn off and now the young one's were trying to figure out what to do next. The decision had been Kit trying to get Petrie to follow out skimming the water on a leaf, since the young one couldn't fly.

"Aw Petrie, I'm not gonna say this too loud" Kit answered her cousin, "but you're much funner than your brothers and sisters" she smiled. Petrie smiled a bit too, getting on the leaf, "Well yeah, me know that" he said in half kidding.

Kit giggled and flapped down to pull the leaf along. "Let's pretend your an egg and this is the carrying nest" she said.

"But eggs no do nothing" Petrie argued.

Tylr remained on point babysitting nearby and noticed the two newcomers to the lake, but they weren't sharpteeth so he wasn't worried.

He heard their talk on the Great Valley though, and couldn't help wondering if a few more knowing about this tale made it true. He and those of his siblings still around had heard of it of course and there different thoughts swirling about about it.

Cree thought it was all rubbish, but Petrie's mom and Pterano seemed to halfway accept the tale in varying degrees of their own kind, Tylr had noticed. For his own part...Tylr hoped it was true with the lack of food.

He was brought out of these thoughts as a young crested swimmer suddenly appeared and rushed the lake. "Treesweet!" he called, unaware anyone else was in the water and diving into the water by jumping and holding his feet as he landed.

A wave was caused and the leaf with Petrie on it tipped as the water hit both it and Kit still flying above the top of the water.

"Petrie!" Tylr was worried for his daughter too, but his sister's little boy was the one who couldn't fly and he quickly darted in to try and find the young one.

He soon spotted both his nephew and daughter though and given the shock of the splash, had to help pull both to the shore.

"You two ok?" he asked. Petrie and Kit coughed but seemed alright. "Y-yeah, we fine" Petrie coughed out even as his mother swooped down to hug him up, "Oh thankgoodness" she sighed.

In the water, the young swimmer, Cory, was ducked down in almost fear of being yelled at, "Uh sorry..." he said, "I didn't know this pond was Oc'apied"

"I'm afraid I haven't seen very many people around here.  I'm not even familiar with this area." Snork said.  "I need to find someone who knows something about the Great Valley.  It is my only chance now.  I ran away from my herd to get away from my abusive father."

After making sure Kit and Petrie were alright, Tylr caught the swimmer's words... he was about to comment when the little crested swimmer answered for him.

"Great Valley?" the kid asked, swimming over, "Yeah, I know about it, that's where my herd's heading, it's suppose to have everything".

"Um, us too" Tylr hesitantly said, he helped to quickly fly Petrie back up to his nest and dropped Kit off for a quick babysitting from his sister before flapping back down towards where the swimmer and rainbow face were.

"Um, if a second opinion helps, we're thinking of heading that way too and I more than half believe it exists" he said, "Oh, uh sorry, perhaps I should introduce myself, name's Tylr" he said.

"Of course it exists" the young swimmer, Cory, replied without being asked, "grown-ups like my mom don't lie".

"I sure hope so." Snork said.
He was surprised by the way everyone was openly talking to members of other species here.  Not that it was a bad thing.  In hact, it was delightful to talk to someone different for a change.

From behind one of the rock outcroppings, a quiet voice spoke up.
"Ummm...That's where I'm....I'm going, too.  Would you mind if I traveled with you guys?"
Syler asked, stepping shyly out with a smile on his face...

Cyrix was indeed surprised that so many other dinosaurs had heard of the Great Valley, but he still questioned if it truly existed or not, but he didn't dare say that in front of them. He smiled nonetheless at Snork.
"I'm sure its real, but finding it...now that's the adventure." he said with a voice of pride, and humor. However upon hearing Syler's voice he turned to face the little one and asked, "Hello there...I don't believe we've met. My name is Cyrix. What is yours?"

From the nest and while Petrie's mom and his other siblings were busy, Petrie and Kit peered out at the new comers at the lake that Tylr was talking to.

"Who they?" Petrie asked. "I don't know" Kit shrugged, "let's go meet them!".

"What!" Petrie looked shocked by the suggestion. "Come on, there's at least two other kids, we can atleast meet them" Kit pointed out the young threehorn and swimmer.

"You just want Uncle Cree and Pterano yell at us" Petrie declared as his cousin flapped out to hel him down once more.

"Oh they wouldn't do that" Kit said, "for one thing they don't get along, so how could they both yell at us".

"They both think we should stick with flyers" Petrie pointed out. "It's other kids Petrie, how can they be bad" Kit pointed out, "Now come on".

In the end, half because Kit pulled, Petrie had to come down and Kit lead him over to where the others were.

Tylr also was enjoying this new scene of talking to other kinds, not that he had gone out of his way to avoid it before, more like the others hadn't wanted to talk.

He noticed Kit and Petrie but didn't think it was an issue them being here.

"So your herds knows the way to the Great Valley?" he asked Cory, "'cause that's the main problem for all of us, a clear cut where it is".

"Well apparently if you follow the bright circle you're suppose to find it" the young swimmer said, although he was finding the young threehorn that had appeared a bit more interesting than this adult flyer's questions.

He got out of the lake and went over to where Skylar was, "Hi, I'm Cory" he introduced.

"and uh, I'm Kit" Kit added to both of them, "and this is my cousin Petrie, he panics alot", Petrie shot her a look.

"Hi" Cory nodded. Tylr smiled, something about the kids just up and introducing themselves hit him as refreshing.

snork listened and then had an idea.  He said, "I'm Snork.  I'm on my own now.  THis may seem odd but do you mind if I stick with you guys?  I mean, it is better than being all alone."

Cyrix turned with a smile as he watched Snork ask his question. He was proud that so many different kinds were getting along so well, and asking for help as they all seemed to be heading to the same place. It was then that Cyrix turned around and looked to the sky again and let out a sigh as he thought about the one he lost.

Tylr noticed the rainbow face glance to the side, "You ok?" he asked. He then realized he might be prying and glance aside, "Um I mean, not that I have any business intruding or anything".

~~~~
Littlefoot stood on a rock, looking at the direction the bright circle was in now and then turning to face the other way. "So...we go this way!" the young one guessed, walking that other direction.
His mother, still a bit drained from the fight over last night and that morning but feeling she would do alright, smiled at her son's energy. "Yes Littlefoot, we go that way, very good" she said. The young longneck beamed.
"So are we close to the Great Valley now?" he asked, turning to look at his mother and grandparents as they continue on their way.
Snork wasn't sure what to do now.  He had med a bunch of people who seemed to know about the valley but nobody knew where it was.  At least he wasn't alone now though.
Cyrix sighed as he heard  Tylr ask his question.
"No..its okay. I was just thinking to myself is all." He then turned to face Tylr as he asked, "What would you do....if you ever lost your daughter, or any of your nieces or nephews?"
~~~~~

Grandpa Longneck chuckled at his grandsons enthusiasm and the smile on his daughters face.
"Don't worry Littlefoot, we'll get there when we get there...no need to rush." he said as he looked to the horizon hoping to see the valley soon.

Tylr looked shocked by the question, yet then thought, even if he didn't really have to. "Well...of course I would hope that wouldn't happen, but...I'd search every area of land physically possible until I did find them again" he answered, knowing it was the truth.

"So are you from around here?" Kit asked Skylar in curiosity.

~~~~
"But when is that?" Littlefoot asked. "We don't know quite yet" Grandma answered with a chuckle of her own. Littlefoot let out a huff of breath in annoyance, then, as they moved, he noticed a threehorn herd off a ways from them...and one member in particular.
"Hey! It's Cera!" he said. "Who?" his mother looked confused a bit.
"The threehorn from yesterday" Littlefoot answered quickly, "Hey Cera!" he quickly darted towards where the herd stood.
"Littlefoot...oh dear" his mother knew this wouldn't end well and began to walk over after her son.
Cyrix nodded at Tylr's answer knowing it was the truth.
"Good...I'm glad to hear you say that."
~~~~

Grandpa Longneck grinned and said, "Don't worry my daughter, I'll watch Littlefoot for you." He then stepped over to where Littlefoot had run to and saw his grandson talking to Cera.

"Yeah, family's pretty important" Tylr said.

"Tylr!" just then a sharp voice rang out, "what do you think you're doing?". Tylr's face fell as his oldest brother, Cree, landed on a branch.

"Well...most of them" he muttered. He turned to face Cree, "I'm talking with others who are heading towards this Great Valley themselves" he answered, "they...".

"Other non flyers ya mean? and with the kids with you" he indicated Petrie and Kit, "oh that's a good example".

"He's very perceptive" Tylr commented to the others on Cree's first statement, hoping to show he didn't hold with the views his brother was spewing out and also alleviate some of the tension of Cree being associated with him and acting like this.

The commotion drew Petrie's mom and Pterano's attention as well though. "The Great Valley? i-it exists?" Petrie's mom asked, flapping over.

Tylr smiled, "Yep, and we were just talking of heading there, or trying, I think..." he turned to the others, "not sure if we actually said yes on that yet" he smiled.

"Of course you'd come up with a plan like that!" Cree rolled his eyes, "tagging along with non flyers, of all the stupid...".

"Oh I don't know" Pterano voiced his opinion for the first time, "we flyers could probably aid alot to their cause, fly above, help lead the way and all that".

"A group does sound safer..." Petrie's mom had to admit.

"That's what Im thinking" Tylr replied, turning to the others, "So, are we actually saying we're doing this then? Gonna try to find this Great Valley?".

~~~~
Littlefoot jogged over to the Threehorn herd, "Hey Cera!" he cried, rushing up, "I see you made it back safe".
"Oh it's you" Cera sighed, "Yeah well...".
 Cera didn't even have to try to say anything else to Littlefoot as Mr. Threehorn stomped between the two yet again.
"Hey! I thought I made it clear yesterday, you were to scram kid!" he said. Littlefoot backed up, surprised, "but...I just thought...after my mom saved Cera, maybe you'd changed your mind about...".
"Changed my mind?!" Mr. Threehorn asked incredulously, "about letting my daughter associate with longnecks?! Why would I do that?".
Diver had gotten some water and was eating a bit of underwater food she had found while diving down.
"Oh nice, it certainly is, have some. "She said.
Cyrix suddenly gave a wide and sly smile as he turned to face Cree.
"Well now, if I had to guess...Cree was it...that you are the black tar-pit of the family? It seems you have a bad habit of saying the wrong things...but this is our first formal meeting." He then turned to Ptami and said, "My name is Cyrix...it is a pleasure to meet you and your brothers."
Cyrix smiled as he said to Tylr, "Yes, I'll be more than happy to accompany you to the Great valley! It would be my pleasure."
~~~~

Grandpa Longneck sighed aloud.
"Excuse me. I don't mean to intrude, but this longneck is my grandson. I would appreciate it if you didn't yell at him. After all my daughter did save yours yesterday."

Ducky leapt into the water after her sister herself, diving down under and then popping up. "Oh yes, the water is very nice, as Diver said" she smiled at her sister before looking to Mia, "you should come in too".

She started doing backstrokes in the water swimming across.

(Is this different water than the others are around? It seemed like it was)

~~~~
"What did you just say?!" Cree's eyes narrowed. Feeling both amused and horribly shocked by the rainbow faces words, Tylr held a wing out to stop his brother, he wasn't the one who did such though.
"Cree, stop...doing what you always do" Ptami (Petrie's mom) sighed, turning to try and have a normal conversation with Cyrix if her brothers would let her. Pterano was already scouting where they would be heading next probably and building up his own idea of where to go it seemed.
"Well then I dare say we might just find this Great Valley with so much help" Ptami said with a smile.
"and if you don't mind one more..." the little swimmer, Cory's, mother approached. "I was coming to get my son after an argument with my herd who don't really believe in this Great Valley and...well I'm not going to starve myself and my son because they're being stubborn".
"Welcome aboard" Ptami answered for the unasked or half asked question, with a smile.
"Yay, Cory you get to come!" Kit hugged her new friend who just smiled. "Who carry Petrie?" Petrie couldn't help wondering, unable to fly. "Oh no worries dear, I gotcha" his mother assured.
"I'll flap up ahead and help guide!" Pterano suddenly offered, flapping up to do such. "Now hold on squirt, I gotta make sure you have atleast half an idea where we're going!" Cree cried, flapping after.
"You're brave" Tylr commented with a smile to Cyrix, looking to the swimmer's as well, "traveling with them" he thumbed after his two squabbling brothers.
~~~~

Mr. Threehorn glanced up at the approaching longneck, his eyes narrowed but he did seem to relent yelling at the kid now that the larger longneck was here. "Yes...well..." he couldn't find a good answer to that one.

"probably his fault Cera wandered in the first place" he muttered.

"Oh no sir, Cera was chasing after that hopper too" Littlefoot answered honestly. The old threehorn grumbled.

"What's with you anyway?" he asked the elder longneck and his lectures to him, "don't you know about sticking with one's own kind? Of course...I guess Cera is lucky a longneck knows when to break that for important things..." he realized and muttered.

"Well...then thanks and head your own way!" he next grumbled, still stubborn about breaking any ideas just yet.

(OOC: I"m ok with it being the same bit of water but another side, a short distance off, or another one totally.)

"Thanks." Mia said and entered the water, drinking some and enjoying it, settling down to enjoy the coolness.

Diver finished what she was eating, waving to her sister and started to float on her back, using her legs to slowly swim around as she put the palms of her hands under her head.

"It is great, it certainly is, and the underwater green food is good to." Diver said.

Cyrix gave a smile as he heard Tylr's response to travling with his siblings. He however just took a step forward.
"Sometimes its best not to show your anger physically, but in spoken word..that way, you can feel better without hitting anyone. Well that's my thought anyway."

~~~~~
Grandpa Longneck smiled at Mr. Threehonrns apology.
"Its alright.  My mate and I taught our daughter well. I was surprised to hear she'd saved a young threehorn by breaking the tradition." He then asked, "But I don't see why the young ones can't play a game together, they seem to have fun at least."
"Oh yes, it is, it is" Ducky agreed with her sister's statement
~~~~

As this small herd of theirs began to head out, Tylr turned to Cyrix in a bit of surprise, "You know...I never really thought about it that way...I guess, I should give Cree more credit".

As Ptami kept track of all her children who could fly, she looked a bit perplexed that Pterano was already up front. "What are you doing?" she asked her brother.

"Why, making sure of where to go of course" was Pterano's answer. "and I'm...keeping him in check" Cree's smile this time was actually not as mean as other times and just the typical "messing with one's siblings" smirk Tylr had seen many times.

As they continued on, Cory soon spotted some others in the lake as they crossed to the other side of it.

"Hey look, it's other swimmers!" he said going over towards the lake Ducky, Diver and Mim were at.

"Hello" he said, "We're going to the Great Valley, wanna come". With a small laugh, Cory's mother walked after him, "Dear, don't wander off like that" she said, nonetheless amused by Cory's bold inviting of just met swimmers to come with them.

Kit and Petrie, as about the only other kids with the group, flapped over to see what Cory was doing as well.

"Oh what's going on over there" Pterano sighed, noticing the group slowing due to this.

~~~~
Mr. Threehorn's whole facial expression hardened and stayed that way for a while, as he seemed to take in the words.
"Yay!" Littlefoot exclaimed happily, "come on!" he called to Cera, taking off. Cera frowned much like her dad, "what are you doing! That's not what threehorn's play, oh you longnecks are so hopeless!" Cera now stormed over just to show Littlefoot the proper way to play with a rock, mainly head butting it rather than leaping all around it.
His daughter's statement did pull a smile from Topsy. "Well, I suppose it could do your boy good to learn a few things from the experience" he admitted.
Diver waved as did Mia who sat up.
"It would be more fun to travel together then alone, it certainly would." Diver said, happy to me a new person and be traveling in a larger group with some being added in.
"Yea, more folks means more to put the hurt on those sharpteeth & keep them away." Mia said punching her right hand into her left palm.
"More is safer then less." Rhyn said, glad to see more maybe traveling together.
"Well then welcome aboard" Tylr smiled. "Yeah, yeah, whatever can we just get on with it" Cree grumbled, flapping ahead once more.
Ducky immediately found the other kids of this small herd. "Hi, I'm Ducky" she held out her hand to shake, "it is very nice to meet you all, it is, it is".
"Uh, hey, I'm Cory" Cory said. Kit smiled, "and I'm Kit and this is my cousin Petrie" she thumbed behind her, "I got others around here too but they're kinda shy".
"Oh, well this is Diver" Ducky pointed to her own sister, "and that is Mim, she watches out for us". (ooc: if I phrased any of that wrong in regards to your OC's, Kor, I'll change it).
Kit and the others nodded.
Mim, who was a short distance off waved to the newcomer.  She had just returned from getting some leaves (and eating a few crawlers while away from where flatteeth could see her.  She looked at Mia and shook her head a bit, "Sometimes fighting is necessary but it shouldn't be a first choice."
"Yea, but ifn there is a fight, best to hit where it hurts em." Mia said where she sat in the water, drinking a bit and enjoying the feel of water on her scales.
"A good tactic in battle, as well as working with others." Mim said.   She offered the leaves she had gathered, "Are any of you hungry?" She asked.
"I am! Thanks" Cory rushed forward. "Cory" his mother stopped him, "that's not nice to rush and grab". The little swimmer ducked his head, "sorry".
"Um, thanks" Cory calmly took some of the leaves now, along with Kit, Petrie and Ducky. They gave similiar thankyous.
"You're welcome." Mim said while smiling.
Diver continued to float in the water, stretching out a bit.  Mia had had enough water for now and walked over to sit in the bank near the water.  Rhyn continued to swim around a bit before she decided to rest and float like Diver was doing and rest.
Alright well I'm moving on" Cree said in annoyance, flapping up and off,  "anyone who's coming better just keep up".
"Cree, I believe you are forgetting that I am officially showing the proper way to go" Pterano hastened to remind as he flapped after. Tylr just sighed, "there's no harm if they want to rest a bit" he tried to persuade his brothers.
"Yes, I could show you flyers how to swim! I could, I could!" Ducky said excitedly. "Um...me gonna keep up and make sure we not lose Uncle Ptarno" Petrie said, walking off in that direction. Kit flew after, "How are you going to do that if you can't fly?" she asked in interest. "Me figure it out" Petrie said.
"Come on, let's swim with Ducky, it sounds fun" Kit tried to convince Petrie. Her cousin turned to her, "no it not, it sound like me just sink like rock and not swim at all" he said.
Cyrix looked up to the three flyers.
"Excuse me, but if you three can't deiced on a proper course of where to go, may I suggest that all of us take a vote and decide as a group...wouldn't that be easier for all of us?" He asked with a curious tone.
~~~~~

Grandpa Longneck laughed.
"I suppose each of our younglings learning from each other can only help. I must say I am glad Littlefoot has made such a good friend out here, and I am also glad you are letting them play together Mr.Threehorn." he said with a truthful voice.
Title: Never Do Anything Together
Post by: Kit12 on February 17, 2009, 12:16:28 PM
"Who asked you?" was Cree's first shot out response. Tylr moved to answer Cyrix though, "I think a vote sounds really good, that way no one can be upset with..wherever we go, since we all get to decide".

"Yes, it sounds like a wonderful idea" Ptami smiled to Cyrix, "your tolerance level to just up and think about a vote between other kinds should probably be commended".

"Sounds stupid is what I think" Cree muttered, moving off, yet not so far as to not have a say in the vote when it came time.

Pterano didn't really let on to what he thought of the idea, it didn't sit completely well but then maybe it was best to let them have their vote and not agrivate out an argument.

Kit pulled Petrie along half willingly, "It'll be fun" she reassured as to their swimming, "and no one's going anywhere yet".

"Yes Petrie, do not worry, Kit and I will make sure you do not drownded, we will, we will" she smiled.

"Now", she jumped into the water, "it is sort of hard to teach how to swim, since swimmers just swim, but you move your arms like this and your feet like this" she tried to show.

Kit nodded, "looks easy".

"look like flying in water, and me can't fly in sky" Petrie muttered. He watched as Kit jumped in to try though

~~~~
"Well...don't get use to it!" Mr. Threehorn said. Just then his mate walked up, "Dear, Carley (ooc: I'm pulling another name for Dinah and Danah's mother) says she's heard some other threehorns talking about a Great Valley and that it might be advisable, in this changing land, to head there" she threw out as a suggestion, knowing what her mate's first response would probably be.
"That's just a bunch of rambeling nonesense!" Topsy said, "there's no Great Valley".
"I'm not sure yet." Mia said, "Thanks." She said taking some of the leaves and starting to eat them.
Mim looked at the others, "So are you headed towards the Great Valley?" She asked.
"My mommy and daddy talked about it, they certainly did." Diver said.
"Mine say it's a place where no sharpteeth at all live and it is safe." Rhyn said.
"Does it exist though, or is it just stories storytellers tell?" Mia asked.
"I've not been there so can't confirm it from first hand evidence, but my family and I did meet and briefly traveled with a longneck heard lead by an old one who said they've been there before and they would return one day and she said some directions and what to look for." Mim said.
(ooc: Hope it was ok to mention them, though they don't appear till the 4th movie I assume they had been to the Great Valley sometime before the first movie, I can always edit it to say her family met an old onry longneck (Doc) instead.
(OOC: I don't see anything wrong with mentioning them, they do act like they'd been there before)
Kit had just got Petrie into the water to try out swimming when the conversation caught her attention. She paused and turned to Mim at her question.
This meant letting go of Petrie and she quickly had to grab hold of him once again as he started to sink, but then she listened again.
"If it exists it sounds like the most wonderful place in the world, it does, it does" Ducky added in.
"Well of course it is" a voice said, and on a tree nearby the lake, Pterano took advantage of this pause the group was taking to add in his input.
"Why, with the way everyone from flyers to even you other ground walkers talk about this glorious place how can it be anything but real, and, very luckily for all of you" he smiled to the other ground walkers, "I believe I've mapped out, from the stories, just how one would get there...which is why I should continue to be allowed to keep leading" he turned to Cree at this last part to make his point.
Petrie smiled, his Uncle Pterano knew everything about everything he was pretty sure. Kit just looked interested, she wasn't sure but then Uncle Pterano might know what he was talking about she figured, who knew.
"He doesn't really ya know" Tylr whispered to Cyrix, he was starting to think the rainbow face might be one of the few he could be honest about Cree and Pterano's behavior with and who would understand but not judge farther than needed (one of the few he wasn't related to that was)
"...actually know where to go" Tylr continued to explain, "none of us do, since it's just a story everyone knows but few know the exact location of; but then such facts haven't stopped him before" Tylr grinned.
Ptami rolled her eyes, agreeing with Tylr's statement, yet then smiled, "Well that tip on following the bright circle as it touches the ground might be right, and it is a starting point" she admitted.
Title: Never Do Anything Together
Mim looked at Pterano, "Leader of the flyers, that is up to them & good luck." Mim said knowing it was best to not say much but still remain polite.
Mia ignored Pterano, her father had said if he saw him again he may try to punch him since there was something he didn't like about him.
"Gosh, that must be hard to have done." Rhyn said, a bit amazed by all the Pterano said.
Diver remained quiet, not sure what she should feel or think about it so she drank a little water as she listened.
Cyrix gave a light laugh at Tylr's comment of his brothers. He then stepped towards Tylr and whispered.
"I believe Ptami is right, following the bright circle would be a good start, however, I also think it would be wise to let all of the grown ups lead the way and have Pterano and Cree especially just fly ahead as scouts to make sure our way is safe for us on the ground." He then looked to Ptami and Tylr as he asked, "Is that alright with you two?"
"Yea, then some of us can keep the sharpteeth away.  They'd know better then try to fight a large group since they'd loose." Mia said.
"I like that idea,I certainly do." Diver said looking around, "Just think of the different games we maybe could each each other, or stories we could tell." She said.
"I do like that.  So many different things each may know." Rhyn said.
Pterano smiled at what Rhyn said, "Well it's not all that hard if one just pays attention..." he began to brag.
Tylr nodded at what Cyrix said and turned to Ptami, "Sound good, what do you think?" he asked. Glancing back at her brothers, as even Cree looked bothered and like he was waiting to but into what Pterano was saying, Ptami smiled, "I think it sounds perfect" she said.
"So, here's what we've decided" she flapped over to tell her other two brothers as well as the others, "myself and my family who I'm volunteering for, are going to put our skills to their best use...".
Tylr hid a laugh as he knew who Ptami was aiming this part to.
"...and scout ahead for you while you guys, well, work out whoever up front of the group on the ground between you" she smiled.
Pterano frowned, "Ptami, I don't think...".
"Come on you two" Ptami began pushing Cree and Pterano along, "lets get on with that scouting...uh oh, Tylr" she turned to her youngest brother as she thought of something, "actually, could you stay lower to stay with the kids" she meant Kit and her own brood, but knew Tylr would keep an eye on the other ground walkers kids too.
Tylr nodded, "sure thing".
"Hey how 'come it sounds like he's getting the easy job?" Cree asked before Ptami succeeded in pushing him and Pterano on about their scouting mission.
"Cera, don't climb so high!" Topsy scolded from where he watched his daughter play with the young longneck.
One of his older daughters, Carley, had joined the group by now and couldn't help looking at the older longneck who had said he was the grandfather of the young one her sister was playing with. "Um excuse me sir...I think while my dad's yelling at Cera is the only time I could ask this without him being embaressed" she explained quickly, "but...do you know if this place some of the herds keep mentioning is real? This Great Valley?" the adolescent threehorn asked.
"I don't think mommy & daddy would mind, I certainly do not." Diver said shaking her head during part of what she said.
"If folks are nice I don't think mine would mind." Mia said thinking a bit before she responded.
"I think mine would prefer traveling with a group then traveling alone.  Safer that way, especially at night." Rhyn said.
Kaga wandered alone through the wilderness following the tracks of longnecks.  The iguanodon followed these tracks because he hoped that maybe the longnecks would find food.  Perhaps he could eat whatever was left over.  Kaga had been fortunate thus far.  He had been able to find small plants to keep him going for the past few days but the terrain seemed to be getting drier ahead.  Kaga had learned long ago to survive on his own, having been abandoned by his family.  It was just so lonely traveling by himself.  The iguanodon continued to follow the longneck tracks, hoping they would lead to food.
"Yeah, and my mom's beat up sharpteeth more times than I can remember fully!" Cory cut in, always having trouble with the waiting his turn or not interrupting rule.
"Only because I had to, Cory" his mother pointed out, "don't go bragging".
"but I'm not saying anything about myself, it's only bragging if you say stuff about yourself" Cory said. His mother just rolled her eyes, "Well I say if we're going with this herd we best keep up, before those two flyers grown impatient, they seem very prone to that".
Not quite grabbing what her new friend's mom said, Kit laughed nonetheless, "Yeah Uncle Cree's got a problem with patience and yelling at people and stuff, and Uncle Pterano needs to watch his bragging too, Aunt Ptami keeps telling them both that" she smiled.
From where they could hear the conversation as the swimmer's and others appraoched, Ptami frowned, "Apparently I'm being listened to more than I know" she commented to Tylr, who smiled. "I just take it for granted kids hear anything you say, since they probably will, they're sneaky like that" he grinned.
Kit, thought, and then popped out with a very childish and randomly childish answer. "I think we met Mr. Cyrix first out of most everybody, so he should probably be in charge" she just out and said.
Tylr looked a little embarrassed to have his daughter put Cyrix on the spot like that.
"Why Kit" Pterano looked insulted, "are you saying you think a rainbow face should be in charge instead of your dear uncle".
Kit shrugged, "You're too busy scouting, so I think Mr. Cyrix should be in charge" she said again. Cree laughed and seemed to be thoroughly enjoying the whole situation.
Cyrix couldn't help but blush at being considered for the leadership role. He'd never lead antyhing in his life, but he was certain that it was never a bad time to get experience. He turned to Kit and bowed as he answered.
"Thank you Kit. I wouldn't mind leading our...herd, but I've never lead anyone anywhere before. I suppose I'm just nervous."
Cyrix then looked to Ptami and Tylr and asked, "What do you two think?"
Ptami and Tylr glanced to each other, thinking. "Well..." Ptami finally said, "if you're comfortable with that I don't see a problem" she began.
Off to the side, Pterano looked like he had things to say that he was keeping himself from saying.
"Although" she smiled a bit, "you shouldn't let one of our young one's pressure you into anything you don't feel comfortable doing".
"It would be a technicality anyway" Tylr said, "I mean if we wanted to go with that, with as much as I gather this herd likes voting we'd be putting decisions to everyone anyway, so there might not be too much pressure".
"Yet the fellow said himself" Pterano but in, flapping over, "he hasn't had the experience of leading in his life".
Tylr looked confused, "Neither have you" he pointed out, and as Pterano looked like he might answer, Tylr sighed and continued, "and that thing during the Day of the Flyer's doesn't count" he added.
"Besides" he added as it looked like Cree was going to say something, "we'll be far to busy scouting".
"Oh well atleast we know where she gets it!" Cree muttered as Ptami moved her two brothers along back towards a more scouting position.
Tylr turned back to Cyrix, "So, disgruntled scouts aside, how do you feel about the idea?" he asked, wanting to honestly know if they were pushing the raindbow face into something he wasn't comfortable with.
~~~~

"Hey, what's that?" Cera asked, leaping down from the rock and noticing the iguana. Littlefoot turned as well, "I...I don't know" he said, tilting his head.

Diver shook her head, "No, I've seen some of them a bit before we got here, but I certainly have not talked to them since they were not close to where we were till now." She said.

Mia nodded, "Yea, the same." She said, still sitting down and resting, having finished a leaf or 2 she was eating and taking the opportunity to rest since she didn't know when she'd get a chance to do so again.

Grandpa longneck was tying to convince Mr.Threehorn to come along with him, when he heard the threehorns daughter call out. He turned his head to look at what the children were asking about.

“I just met everyone I’m not ëlated (related) to today I think” Kit answered from where she and Petrie along with Ducky, Cory and the other kids were still by the pond while the adults figured all this out.

“but I’m glad I did” Kit smiled over at Ducky and Cory. The swimmers smiled back. Ducky scooped Kit, Petrie and Cory, as best she could, into one hug, “and I am happy to have met you all to, yep, yep, yep” she answered.

Kit did disentangle herself to flap over as she heard Cyrix accept the offer of leading. “Sorry if I made you uncom’table” she said, “but I just think you’ll be really good at leading and so that’s why I said it” she said.

Tylr smiled, “As you may have noticed, if Kit meets you and decides she likes you her loyalites can get kinda strong” he said, “Um…if she gets too clingy you can gently tell her to move on or something”.

~~~~
Grandma Longneck and Littlefoot’s mother had also come over and they too smiled when they noticed the iguana.
Mr. Threehorn huffed.
“Hello there” Littlefoot’s mother said softly to the creature as he got closer, “are you lost?” she asked. Both Littlefoot and Cera peered forward interestedly (though Cera tried to hide any interest whatsoever)
Cyrix couldn't help but laugh at Tylr's suggestion.
"Oh now Tylr don't be silly. After traveling alone for so long, having a youngling look up to me is...inspiring." He then bowed to Kit and gave a smile.
"Thank you for believing in me Kit. I will try not to fail."
~~~~~

The tiny iguana stared up at the collection of larger creatures in front of it, and gave a startled squeal and darted away into the bushes behind it.

This reaction was met with laughter from Grandpa Longneck as he stated, "Well sometimes fear can be a good thing. It tells us when we are in true danger."

Littlefoot pattered after the little thing and peered  around the rock at it, “Hey, it’s ok” he tried to coax it out, “we won’t hurt you, us or our new friend” the young longneck turned to the spike thumb (ooc: you can argue me that name if you want, but I saw a fanfic that called iguanadon’s spike thumbs once, call your character what you want though :DD).

As Cree mumbled that 'that was specific', Tylr flapped forward to scout himself. He flapped back over, "Ok, the way's clear of sharpteeth that way for now and it is in the direction the bright circle will hit the ground, as the tales say is the way to this Great Valley" he told their new leader.

(occ: Well, actually he is a young adult.  I don't know why I said teenager.  The only reason I pointed it out was because a lot of people assume he is a kid for some reason. )

"The Great Valley, eh?" Kaga said excitedly.  "I've been looking for it too but I have no idea where it is or how to get there.  I'm glad I'm not the only one looking for it.  I'll tag along, if it's alright with you."

This was his first big break in a long time.  Kaga finally wouldn't have to worry about being alone anymore.

Kaga then asked, "Um, since we're going to be traveling together, we should probably get to know eachother.  What are your names?"

The group of Mia, Diver, Rhyn and Mim left the water and headed to where Diver's parents and siblings were, everyone keeping the lookout for trouble.  They soon arrived.

"Here are my family." Diver said indicating the 2 adult swimmers and those of her siblings that were present, and not elsewhere doing other things.

Littlefoot smiled, happy they were picking up more members.

"Yeah, I guess" was Topsy's unenthusiastic mutter. Littlefoot's mother laughed lightly, "Of course you're welcome" she told Kaga.

~~~~
"Yes, it is hard to count everyone at once" Ducky giggled, "but this is most of them, it is, it is".
"Wow..." Petrie looked surprised that it was actually more siblings than he owned.
"and uh..." Cory glanced about for the group of his sisters that were always in a huddle together doing girly things or something, "Oh, over there's my sister" he introduced, "probably talking about girly things again" he added.
Kit laughed, "Well it would make sense, since they are girls. Do you have any brothers?" she asked. "Sadly no" Cory frowned.
Listening to the kids chat, Cory's mother smiled at her son's statement.
Tylr and Ptami soon noticed that they would have to keep a very keen eye on their own scouting mission since Cree and Pterano seemed to busy arguing about whatever to be much good.
"That is 1 big family." Mia said surprised at the large size of siblings.
"Wow, it is, that is for sure." Rhyn said, also surprised.
"I do believe that is one of , if not the, largest, that I have seen." Mim said.
Kaga followed the others, quietly thinking to himself about how lucky he was to have traveling companions.  He walked close to the longnecks and kept his distance from the threehorns, mostly because the longnecks seemed much friendlier than the threehorns.  Kaga had not said much since they had started moving on.  He figured he would save the conversations for an evening chat once they stopped for the night.
Grandpa Longneck noticed how quite Kaga had become since they had started walking.
"Are you alright Kaga? You seem to be very quite, is there something you need help with?" he asked quietly hoping not to startle him.
~~~~

Cyrix smiled as everyone seemed to be in sight. He then took a step forward and patted Cory on the back.
"Sometimes being the only brother means you get to do things your sisters can't. Think about that while we walk." He then turned and said, "Alright everyone...please follow me." as he began to walk in the direction that Tylr had pointed.

"I'll go and talk to my family, I"m sure they'll join, their not to far." Mia said, looking in the direction where her family was.

"I'd best go and ask them also." Rhyn said flying off.

"I know mine would prefer traveling with a group as to traveling alone." Mim said.

Cory did think about Cyrix's words...things only he could do. Well he knew on any given day he had way more fun ideas than they did. He tried to think more specifically as they walked.

~~~~
Littlefoot, meanwhile was leaping and jumping around Cera trying to get another game started. "Aw come on, at least try to tag me" he said. Cera shook her head, "Longnecks..." she just muttered, moving on.
Littlefoot's mother smiled over at her own mother, Littlefoot's grandmother, and whispered so that Topsy wouldn't hear. "I think the little girl, despite her best efforts, is actually becoming friends with our Littlefoot". Her mother just smiled and nodded back, agreeing.
Kaga answered, "I'm alright.  it's just that I've never really had anyone to talk to before.  Nobody ever cared about me when I was a kid.  My parents didn't want me.  In fact, they abandoned me and I've been on my own since then.  Frankly, I don't care if I ever see them again either."
Rhyn returned, "My family likes the idea. "
"Good, that'll increase the group a bit." Mim said nodding, & liking the idea of an increase in the size of the group.  "I hope the Great Valley is as large as the herd of longnecks said." Mim said.
Grandpa Longneck sighed. Kaga may have been right this one time however the elderly longneck felt he had to say something.
"Kaga, I may not know what it was like for you, but you do know that being in a herd is like being with a family...if you give them enough time to get to know you, it can indeed make all the difference." He then turned to Mr.Threehorn and asked, "Don't you think so my friend?"
Title: Never Do Anything Together
Post by: Kor on February 28, 2009, 10:15:00 AM
Mia returned and nodded, "They'll be along shortly.  They like the idea of traveling all the way to the valley with as large a group as possible." Mia said
"Good. This is starting to look quite advantageous and better for the whole and the individual as well." Mim said.
"I certainly do like that.  It means we can all travel together and remain friends." Diver said smiling happily that she'd be able to keep the friend she had made shortly before.
Title: Never Do Anything Together
"Who said I was your..." Mr. Threehorn began to grumble, yet the cut himself off and just frowned, "Well...as much as I hate to agree with a longneck...yes, a herd can be there for you" he said.
Littlefoot smiled, "and now we can be friends and help each other too!" he said, playfully tackling Cera. The young threehorn frowned, yet like her father was finding herself not hating Littlefoot as much as she once did.
She wiggled out past him and huffed, but with a small smile, "Yeah I guess, but I'll be the one watching out for you" she said.
Littlefoot's mother laughed, "Yes" she told Kaga, "for as long as your with us, we'll be there for you".
~~~~

"Oh yes, I am glad we get to keep our friends, I am" Ducky said, hugging Petrie and Kit again.

"She sure like doing that" Petrie commented with a glance to his cousin. Kit laughed, "I think her and Diver and the others are sweet".

Cory decided to try out that 'knowing stuff to do girls didn't' thing Mr. Cyrix had mentioned. "You know" he told Diver, Ducky, Kit and Petrie, "I've always been good at walking on my hands, if you wanted me to teach any of you while we walk" he said.

Petrie frowned and looked at his wings, "Um...me now know now to fly, so...don't think I'll try that".

Cory flipped over and began walking on his hands, yet only got a few steps before toppling over. Ducky hid a laugh. "That does look fun, let's try it Diver!" she said, next trying to walk on her hands.

Diver nodded, "it looks like fun." She said and tried to walk on her hands but once she got her legs up over her head she kept on going and fell onto her back.  Mia tried it, well away from the others to not hurt them, and did much the same, managing to bend her legs so the bottoms of her feet hit the ground before her back did.

"It is certainly not as easy as it looks." Diver said.

Cera and Littlefoot continued to dart about playing tag as they continued along on their journey.

~~~~
Ducky soon followed, falling on her back too, laughing. "Yes, it is not easy at all, nope, nope, nope" she said.
"Then me glad me not try" Petrie said. Kit, however looked intriqued and next tried it herself, although she just fell like the others.
"Ah well, it takes time" Cory said, he then went to flip back on his feet, but missed and landed on the ground too.
Cyrix smiled as he heard the young ones finding ways to keep themselves entertained during the trip, although he was a little concerned that all the falling they were doing was going to hurt them over time, but he also remembered that hatchlings were known for quickly recovering from injuries.
Still he decided it would be nice to give some friendly advice.
"Cory, perhaps you and the other younglings should wait until we are resting before trying such a trick. I wouldn't want any of you getting hurt."
~~~~~

Grandpa Longneck smiled as their herd continued to walk. "This is turning out to be just a wonderful day, although I am starting to feel rather hungry. Mr.Threehorn, can you see any green food nearby?" he asked sincerely.
Title: Never Do Anything Together

Cory frowned, "Yeah you're sounding like someone in charge already" he told Cyrix. His mother shot him a look.

"but...yes Sir" he added. Kit laughed and flapped up to fly once more, yet staying near the ground where Petrie had to walk.

~~~~
Topsy frowned, "Did you just order me...".
His mate sighed, "just do it dear" she said. With many many grumbled Topsy moved off, "Now pay attention Cera" he said, "these longnecks don't know where to find the best food so they have to defer to my superior judgement".
The little threehorn nodded and Littlefoot turned a quizzical look back to his mother who just smiled. "One doesn't always have to be proven right" she told her son, "sometimes avoiding a fight is the best thing". Littlefoot nodded.
Cyrix laughed at Cory's comment.
"It's alright. I need to be kept in check by someone right?"
Grandpa Longneck faced Topsy's mate and said, "You do know...I wasn't giving your mate an order...I was simply asking if he could find any green food."
"and I get to be that someone?!" Cory quickly leapt into Cyrix's lead in and asked. Kit laughed, "You're gonna do it anyway, aren't you?" she asked. Cory nodded, "Yeah, probably".
Tyrl had been listening to this and turned back with a smile, yet as he looked forward once more he noticed Ptami up ahead apparently arguing with Cree and Pterano.
He put on speed to reach where they were ahead of the group, which was apparently the point.
Pterano sighed, "I'm telling you, if we sneak past, it'll cut atleast five...".
"Do you not see that!" Ptami exclaimed, pointing, "what do you mean sneak past, we have a duty as scouts to report just this sort of thing" as she turned she noticed Tylr coming over.
"Tylr! You're closer, go, tell Cyrix, we've got sleeping fast biters just over this ridge".
Tylr quickly back peddled the other way.
"Cyrix" he flew over and landed, "Over there, to the right, we can't go that way" he pointed exactly where he meant, "there's some, thankfully sleeping for now, fast biters; w-we're gonna have to find a different way" he said.
~~~~

Topsy's mate, Carla (ooc: why not, since she'll need one) smiled a bit, "I know, he just doesn't" she sighed, "look personally I'm not as hung up on all this as Topsy is, when he first stopped your son from playing with Cera" she told the boy's mother, "I worried the kids might hurt themselves, but didn't even consider the whole longneck thing...I mean it was a bit odd, but then who cares".

"Topsy, just sees this stuff in his own mind" she returned to telling Grandpa Longneck, "and I'm afraid you have a lot to put up with, since he gets even worse with suspicions around longnecks...it goes back to some neighboring bullies when he grew up, nothing he should condemn the whole lot of you for" Carla explained.

"But...I do believe he can change" she added.

Cyrix smiled at the report.
"Thank you Tylr, although I'm wondering why your sister, or brothers didn't warn us sooner, we almost walked right into that one!" He didn't realize it until he was done speaking but Cyrix was clenching his fist, and he sighed as he tried to relax. He then turned to the rest of the group.
"Everyone, we will be taking a different way around. It seems that a group of sharpteeth are blocking our original path, we will have to go left, and around the long way."

~~~~~
Grandpa Longneck smiled at Carla.
"I'm sure he can. And I know he only wants whats best for his children."
Title: Never Do Anything Together
Post by: Kit12 on March 09, 2009, 02:49:55 PM
Tylr looked a little confused at Cyrix's point. He assumed it was just because they hadn't noticed until just then themselves...at least he knew for sure that had to be the issue with Ptami, as it had with himself. He still didn't know who of the three of them had spotted the fast biters first...perhaps one of his brothers...but no, they would have warned them as well.
As Ptami returned from having spread the news as well and turning those for whom it was needed to Cyrix' new way, and as they continued another way, he asked her discretely while Cree and Pterano weren't around.
"Ptami, did one of them notice the fast biters before you?". His sister thought, "we'll when I discovered them there was an argument..." she paused as she realized the two had wasted time probably with an argument than immediately warning.
Ptami frowned at the same time as Tylr with this realization, but they two weren't sure what to do with this news yet.
~~~~

Carla smiled at the longnecks' understanding attitude. "Yes, unfortunately that wanting the best spans to kind-sim, but that is what his goal is".

Littlefoot's mother, Tenderheart, sighed, "It seems alot of us have gotten us to the, 'it's always been that way' explanation even as I told Littlefoot" she commented thoughtfully on how maybe it was time to change that, and how this different herd that was almost formed of her family, the threehorns and Kaga might just be a step in that direction.

"It is better to have to go around then through sharpteeth, it certainly is." Diver said having heard the news of the new way they were going

"Those sharpteeth are getting off easy." Mia said, not to sure of the new way, proffering to fight and eliminate sharpteeth.

"It is safer this way for the majority then trying to force our way through and fighting when it's not needed." Mim said.

"Yea, maybe." Mia said.

Rhyn was away, helping the other flyers spread the news, having come to tell her friends first before she went around on her route to tell others.
Title: Never Do Anything Together

"Yep, they definitely got off super easy, since I would have given them heck too" Cory commented about leaving the sharpteeth. At Petrie, Kit and Ducky's questioning looks, he shrugged, "Well...sorta".

"Cory" Kit smiled, "are you bragging about stuff you can't do?" she asked her new friend in amusement. She giggled as the swimmer shrugged, then hugged him.

As everyone seemed to be on their way easily, Tylr smiled and nodded to Rhyn, "Thanks, every pair of wings helps in getting news through quickly" he said sincerely. He was still slightly curious about what he could tell of Rhyn's family apparently not being fond of Pterano, or so it looked earlier before they headed out, but didn't ask since it wasn't any of his business.

Looking worried, since he didn't see anything yet, Tylr nonetheless nodded and flapped higher. At first he didn't see anything, then he spotted it, a crumpled mass of a tree or something.

Flapping closer, Tylr noticed it wasn't about to burn, but apparently already had. He guessed some sky fire from the sky water storm of yesterday must have caught the very dry leaves at a bad time, even with all that water.

He flew back and reported to Cyrix. "I don't know if it's bad news" he added, "but it is that much less food than we would have been able to find before" he added.

"Well that's just great!" Cree sighed. "Now Cree, that doesn't mean there isn't any food" his sister quickly pointed out, the other flyer just shot her a look.

"Do you think we'll meet others who might want to join up with us too, Grandpa?" Littlefoot asked eagerly. "Oh I hope not..." Topsy grumbled, yet he didn't fully mean it.

Cyrix didn't seem all that worried at a lack of green food. He was worried for the children, but they first had to make sure there was enough, and no fast biters or sharpteeth around.
He looked back up to Cree and asked "would you mind helping me see if there is any green food left? You could use the break I see."

Grandpa Longneck smiled as he looked down at his grandson and replied, "I certainly hope so Littlefoot, it would be very nice indeed."

As the three others of his siblings either tried to hide guilty laughs or smirked, Cree frowned deeply, again with the insulting!

"And just what does that m--" he began. "Uh, best get on that, Cree, I could use a small break if you don't mind" Tylr said nudging his brother out.

If Ptami hadn't shot him 'that look', Cree would have fought verbally more than he did. He sighed and flapped up, circled vaguely but half trying, and came back. "Nope, nothing".

Tylr sighed. "Here, I'll show you a proper search" Pterano flapped out to instruct his brother, something again Cree wouldn't have taken if it wasn't for 'that look'.

As he spotted a tree with some greenfood left at the time, he smirked and flew back.

"Just as I thought, Cree gave up the search too hasteful, there is a tree just over there with some greenfood left at the top that I am sure us flyers could pull down for you" he told Cyrix.

Cory's mom, overhearing this, and while overjoyed at the news, nonetheless frowned. She turned to Tylr, "I-I don't want to say that every word of that sounded prideful, but--" she began.

"No, please, you can, because it did and was" Tylr said with a sigh.

~~~~
Littlefoot skipped on ahead. "I hope we do and I hope they have kids as well" Littlefoot said.
"Why, so I can be annoyed by other longnecks" Cera shot over at him annoyed.
Cyrix tired to hide a smirk from the response Tylr had given Cory's mother. He looked up to Pterano and nodded.
"Thank you Pterano. As such for you help, you may have the first treestar of your choice from the tree...and then we will need some brought down to us here on the ground." he said with a slight bow
~~~~

Grandpa Longneck laughed at his grandsons mood...it seemed it was contagious as the elderly longneck couldn't help but smile as he walked along.
"I'm sure there will be others for you and Cera to play with Littlefoot." Grandpa Longneck said.

"What do you guys want to do once I've rested?" Rhyn asked.

"How about we look at the sky puffies now, we can do that and rest, we certainly can." Diver said.

"I like that idea." Mia said.

"Yea, we can all do that." Rhyn said as the 3 of them lay down on their backs and started to look up at the sky puffies saying what they thought this or that one looked like.
Title: Never Do Anything Together

Pterano's grateful smile looked almost like he wasn't too shocked by the offer, not shocked he deserved it at any rate, yet nontheless he gave a nodding bow back.

"I thank you and it'll be my pleasure" he said. He flew over and after taking a bit of time to pick the best treestar for himself, he started floating down others.

"You should probably start a pile very soon so you don't lose any of them" he advised and shouted down.

"Um, we were planning on doing that anyway...but I guess it's good he reminded us" Cory's mom, Rea, said with a small smile.

Petrie, meanwhile, was in his ususal sense of awe. "Uncle Pterano so great" he told those of the other kids that would listen. "He does seem to know what he's doing alot" Kit agreed.

After getting one or two treestars for both herself, her sister and her friends, Ducky came over to where they were doing the sky puffies watch.

"Do you see the one that always looks like a swimmer?" she asked, that was always Ducky's favorite to spot.

As Cory settled down with his own family and Petrie mom, for simplicity's sake while on the move, let Kit settle down in the spot she'd found for her own kids, Kit smiled, "Ok, thanks Mr. Cyrix see you tomorrow". Tylr smiled and shook his head. He noticed Pterano hadn't settled down yet and was alternately scouting from different trees it seemed.

"What are you doing?" he asked his brother. "Oh, I'm ensuring we've found a very secure spot for resting, never know what might spring out to surprise us" the flyer said in a knowing tone.

"I believe Cyrix already did that" Ptami sighed. "Yes, well, can't hurt to double check now can it" came the reply.

~~~~
"Threehorn's never...well actually yes I could do with a rest" Mr. Threehorn broke off what he'd been trying to say about Threehorn stamina and all.
"I'm not sleeping anywhere near him!" Cera declared, walking off away from Littlefoot. "Well fine, same here" Littlefoot tried to shoot back, but it didn't come out as forceful as Cera's had.
Finding an open spot not far from where Cyrix's group had settled down, but seperated by shrubbery so that at least for the night they were unaware of the nearby group, Mr. Threehorn was able to swallow his pride and turn to the longnecks, since he knew they'd be complaining anyway if they didn't like it.
"How's this?" he asked.
"Yes, this will do quite nicely" Littlefoot's mom said, smiling down to the threehorn, "Thankyou".
True to his word Cyrix continued to stay awake through the night...and he didn't falter once. However at one point he thought he saw a shadow move a little ways off. Not one to take chances he stood up quietly so as not to wake anyone who was sleeping, and stepped over to the bush obscuring his view, and what he saw when he parted them surprised him!
Grandpa Longneck was fast asleep hoping that the size of the herd wouldn't attract too much attention. However he was wrong as he could hear something...like a bush or a set of low lying trees being pushed aside softly as if not to make much noise.
It was however just enough for the elderly longneck to awaken and he blinked once, then twice as he spotted a rainbow face...and its kind were rare in the Mysterious Beyond...but for the moment he said nothing hoping not to startle it.
Cyrix looked up at Grandpa Longneck for a moment before cautiously stepping forward and bowing to show his respect.
"I am terribly sorry for disturbing you and your herd elder." whispered Cyrix as quietly as he could.
The old Longneck chuckled and whisper a reply.
"No harm done. You are a rainbow face...your kind are rare...please tell me are you alone, or with a herd?"
Cyrix gave a slight smile at the question
"I happen to be leading my own herd right now as a matter of fact. Most of them are sleeping, and we have several hatchlings with us as well." he commented quietly.
"I should be getting back to them as well...some might notice I've gone missing." cyrix added as an afterthought.
Grandpa Longneck smiled and nodded his head in agreement.
"Alright, when the bright circle rises, you and I will speak again."
Cyrix bowed again and turned back moving through the bush and back to his herd with a smile on his face as he knew the bright circle would be rising very soon now.
Mim slept with the group she was traveling with, a mixed group of some swimmers & flyers.  Diver, Mia, & Rhyn slept together, having become friends and being about the same age, more or less.
(ooc: I couldn't resist)
It was an odd thing, for Petrie to be up this early, much less for him to have pulled Kit into being up early with him, just as the first rays of the Bright Circle rose.
"Look, me really high now!" Petrie turned to grin down at Kit, who was flapping along branch by branch watching him climb the small tree. "Yeah" she smiled, "we might actually have something really good to tell your mom and Uncle Pterano" she said, those were the two Petrie liked telling about big accomplishments the most...and Kit noticed how sometimes her dad tried to shrug off how he thought he had a lower position in Petrie's views than Pterano got.
Kit herself didn't think it was true though, her dad was just always busy watching her.
"How high are you planning to go?" she asked. "High as me can!" Petrie said.
Meanwhile, two other young ones were up as well, and Cera sighed in annoyance at what Littlefoot had just told her. "That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard!" she said. Littlefoot frowned, "it is not, all longnecks can do it!".
"Then prove it!" Cera said. "Fine" Littlefoot walked over to the nearest tree he could spot and put his front feet against it, slowly bending the tree. Inside the tree, Kit and Petrie frowned as their perch moved. "This...not look good..." Petrie whispered. Littlefoot smiled as the tree bent, then turned back to grin at Cera. "See!".
The tree snapped back suddenly, flinging Littlefoot back, but he wasn't the one to make noise due to this. Two specks flew from the tree as well. With a cry, Petrie and Kit flew (without flying) across the sky and half skidded, half rolled across the ground, landing in a huddled mass.
Petrie opened his eyes to notice he'd landed right next to an elderly longneck.
"Don't worry Littlefoot! I'll kill whatever horrid things just flew out of that tree!" Cera charged through the bushes straight towards where Petrie and Kit were, causing the small flyers to scream and leap up, before landing in a sitting position. Cera skidded to a stop, "Oh...it's just flyers" she sighed as if disappointed.
Grandpa Longneck looked down at the two flyers now at his feet and he couldn't help but chuckle.
"Are you two alright? That fall didn't hurt you did it?" he asked truthfully.
Cyrix heard the commotion for so early in the morning and he sighed as he stood up and walked over to the bushes that he'd traversed last night and smiled again as the elderly longneck was already awake and seemed to checking on two members of his own herd. Cyrix stepped over to Cera as he heard what she had said, and he tapped her gently on her back and asked,
"Excuse me, but I wouldn't be much of herd leader if I let you harm two members of my herd." He then looked over to Kit and Petrie. "Are you two alright?" he asked not realizing the older longneck had just asked the same question.
Mim and the others awoke.  They stretched & yawned, fully waking up and sitting up as they looked around a bit.
Seeming caught in a state of nodding over and over as they calmed down, Petrie and Kit finally paused. "Uh...yeah, we're fine" Kit told both the adults.
"Hey, I'm just a kid" Cera retorted to the rainbow face, "you're the responsible adult 'spose ta be stopping me".
"Kit, Petrie", Petrie's mother landed, followed by Tylr and Pterano, "oh my are you two ok" she scooped them both up.
"Yeah mom, we ok, she just almost kill us" Petrie pointed.
"What?!" Cera shouted, outraged. Getting a bit of a feel for what happened, Tylr laughed, "Well maybe you two should stop hiding in trees" he said. Petrano looked at his brother in shock, "You're taking the young threehorn's side?" he asked. Tylr sighed, "No, I was just..." he decided to not try to explain and instead turned to the elder longneck Kit and Petrie had landed infront of.
"Sorry if my daughter and nephew woke up" he said.
"T-that's ok" Littlefoot walked up timidly, "It was sort of my fault, grandpa" he told his grandfather, "I was bending back the tree...and I didn't know they were in it".
"What in the name of treestars is going on?" Topsy had finally awoken and walked over to take in both the newcomers and situation that seemed to have unfolded.
Mim and the others got up.
"Morning already?" Diver asked looking around.
"It seems so." Mia said as she got up and stretched a bit.
