Feel free to tell us what are your favourite kid's shows out there? Me....I'll tell mine later. :)
-
THE ANIMALS OF FARTHING WOOD!!!!!!!
WOOOOOT!
*grabs camera and mistletoe, and goes to find Adder and Sinuous*
-
LBT :p
And pokemon if I get really bored sometimes. That's about it.
-
When Weather_lord_7 says children's' shows, I'm fairly confident he meant something like you might find on Nick Jr. or Playhouse Disney. :P:
-
Well, i think LBT is the only one that has stuck with me. Though i don't mind watching some Disney movies if my friend and I are bored.
-
Boohbah makes for a good acid trip, so I've heard
but that's not a favorite =P
LBT atleast somewhat holds a form of maturity over most children's media, and that's why I kinda like the TV series.
Oh, and the old old Nick Jr. Shows!
Eurika's Castle
The Little Bits
David the Knome
Maia the Bee
and a few others I cant name right off the top of my head... ahh.. nastalgia!
-
I remember David the Gnome, way back when I had cable tv. I recall liking that show.
-

Eurika's Castle
The Little Bits
David the Knome
Maia the Bee
I've never even heard of any of those. Perhaps those shows don't exist in the US?
-
Uhh..Aves lives in the US.
I've watched and still will watch any of the following: Animals of Farthing Wood, Watership Down (yes the Disney-fied thing), Pokemon (first season), Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck. I don't think WL meant Nick Jr. or that far back "kid shows".
-
I remember Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog that used be my Favorite show now its gone :bang i miss that show it was better than LAND BEFORE TIME :bang
-

Eurika's Castle is an American show. I used to watch it as a kid. I believe it was done with puppets, like Sesame Street. The others I don't recognize.
-
I have no qualms watching children's shows. Especially since they're theonly place left I can find clean entertainment, basically.
1. Thundercats
2. Dungeons and Dragons
3. The Gummy Bears
4. Darkwing Duck
5. Tale Spin
6. Sonic SatAM
7. W.I.T.C.H. (Sailor Moon done right)
8. Aladdin: The Series
9. ReBoot
10. Gargoyles (okay, not really a kid's show, but still...)
11. Eerie, Indiana
12. The Land Before Time
13. The Land of the Lost (both the original and the remake)
14. Goosebumps (the cheese factor is fun)
15. Dave the Barbarian
16. Spider-Man (the 90s animated series)
17. X-Men (the 90s animated series)
18. Garfield and Friends
19. Super Mario Bros. (not the "Super Show", the ones after)
20. Captain N: The Game Master
-
Rescue Rangers (Love Foxglove!!!)
Digimon Seasons 1 and 3 (For Gatomon and Renamon)
-
Digimon Seasons 1 and 3 (For Gatomon and Renamon)
Now, what shall I think of "this". :P:
-
Rescue Rangers (Love Foxglove!!!)
Only one episode with her in it though. Maybe Disney didn't want to continue the notion of romantics between a chipmunk and a bat. They wanted to keep the notion of romantics between chipmunks and mice alive. :P: (poor Gadget)
-
Apart from the land before time I really like the animals of farthing wood, talespin, and a couple of other series of which I don't know how well known they are in the English speaking world.
Does anyone know Alfred J. Kwak? Though it is "childfriendly" it is quite educational with many parallels to our world dealing with problems such as polution of the environment, the danger of dictatorships etc.
There was also a whole series of cartoons which were like documentaries for kids (so the knowledge was wrapped up in stories), for example: "Es war einmal der Mensch" (the title is difficult to tranlsate as "es war einmal" is the traditional beginning of a fairy tale in German similar perhaps to your "once upon a time", so it might be translated as "Once there was the human" but in this case the past tense might sound a bit eerie in English implying there is no human anymore, an effect that would not occur in German) which is about human history, "Es war einmal das Leben" (Once there was life) about the human body, and "Es war einmal Amerika" (Once there was America) about American history. Those cartoon series were really cool, but I don't know if they were ever translated at all.
-
Oh, god remember you asked for this........ *Deep Breath*
1. Garfield and Friends
2. Tailspin
3. Ducktales

14. Doug
15. Hey Arnold
16. House of Mouse
17. 101 Dalmations: The Series
18. Looney Tunes
19.Eureka's Castle
20.Allegra's Window
-
I don't think WL meant Nick Jr. or that far back "kid shows".
Actually, I meant both Little kid-wise and "far back" shows. ;)
-
1. Garfield and Friends
I forgot that one! Yes, that was one I had watched religiously as well. Garfield segments were always better than US Acres.
-
Mine was definitely Blue's Clues. I loved that show so much.
In my older younger years, before 12 and after 7, definitely Pokemon, Digimon, and stuff like that.
-
Oh, there are tons. Currently, though, I really only watch The Land Before Time and Peep and the Big Wide World (a very very cute sciencey show about a baby chicken, robin, and duck. It's really very intelligent and clever), the latter I found because I have a 3 month old sister and she adores it due to the bold colors XD
I occasionally watch Barney with her, too. She loves that ending song so I end up singing it all day...just like when I was a kid XD
I USED to watch Loonatics:Unleashed religiously but they've since taken it off the air =\
In my youth and if I ever happen to catch them on/dig them out of my stored collection (which doesn't have all of these unfortunately!):
Rocko's Modern Life, Hey Arnold!, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Garfield and Friends, the Animaniacs, Freakazoid, Road Rovers, Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys (great series, anyone else catch it?), Street Sharks, Mega Man, The Adventures of Pete and Pete, Tiny Toon Adventures, Pinky & the Brain, Digimon (seasons 1-3), Pokemon (First 150 pokemon set, really), Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries, The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (and the SATAM set), Rugrats (pre-Dil), the Powerpuff Girls, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Donkey Kong Country
And like a billion other shows I haven't mentioned XD I hope I answered the question correctly. I pretty much just don't like the more modern stuff =\ Too anime-inspired and synthetic.
-
Some of mine include:
Digimon
Rocko's Modern Life
Spongebob Squarepants
Dino Squad
Fairly Oddparents
Ben 10
-
Pokemon (still occasionally watch it. All seasons)
Tarzan (TV Series)
Buzz Lightyear of Star Command (TV series) ("Stranger Invasion" is an absolutely hilarious spoof of the "Roswell Incident")
-
dragon ball Z and a few time's the land before time series, that's it.
-
I don't care what y'all say. I'll be ninety and still be watching cartoons :lol! Anyhoo, here are my favorites: Spongebob Squarepants, Rugrats, Rocko's Modern Life, Hey Arnold!, Angry Beavers, Batman Beyond, Goof Troop, Doug, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Goosebumps, Daria, CatDog(my deceased black Lab used to beat his tail on the floor to the rhythm of the intro song :lol), Wienerville, Sonic the Hedgehog, original TMNT(turtle power!), Tinytoon Adventures, Garfield, Garfield and Friends, The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Sailor Moon, Captain Planet, and Ren and Stimpy :lol :lol.
-

The only show our family owned when I was a kid was the Star Trek episodes my dad recorded in college. I'm an Original Series Trekkie to this day. =/\=

Animaniacs

That's about it. If I remember any others, I'll post 'em. Been a while since I've watched anything other than The Animals of Farthing Wood.
-
Mine:
The early seasons of Thomas the Tank Engine
Avatar: The Last Airbender

Fraggle Rock
Ed, Edd, N Eddy
-
Rediscovered Hey Arnold on youtube. Does anyone remember that show?
Rugrats, Dexter's Lab, Aladdin tv series, Gummi Bears, Even Stevens, Boy meets world,Teen Angel, Smart Guy and home improvement.
-
Rediscovered Hey Arnold on youtube. Does anyone remember that show?
I do, but I lost interest when they just kept showing the same episodes over and over. :rolleyes
-
ah, that is annoying but it's the network fault not the actual show.
My sister and I used to watch something called beyblade, i think it is called. It was okay but not something that was enjoyable....
-
The Backyardagains. I use to love that show! And I still watch it from time to time now, pfft and I thought only the Land Before Time characters could break out into song without any shame.
The Land Before Time tv series. Guy's you HAD to see this one coming. :p
Dragon tales. OMG! I have a tape of the show! I loved it when I was younger.
The Little Mermaid tv series and movie. WOOT!!!!!!!!! I love this! Not to the extent of LBT, but...OMG!!! Whenever I was upset and crying as a little kid my parents would put this movie in and I would stop crying instantly!
Uhhh dat's about it. I can't think. Too much nostalgia.
-
I got another one!
Babar. I don't know why, but I liked this show as a kid and I was flicking through channels and saw it on, I watched and all those old feelings came rushing back.
EDIT: Thomas the Tank Engine. I used to love this show as a kid. I don't like it anymore though. It probably happened when I saw the movie. The bad train (it's been so long I forget his name) came out, I actually got so scared I started crying and walked out of the theatre holding my dad's hand and I didn't want to go back in. Good times.
-
Recently, I've watched a few episodes of the "Timon and Pumbaa" series...I really don't like the title characters (NO offense to anyone here who does like them)...one of the ones I've watched was "Never Everglades"...the dude in this video...here...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAX8AHXNaw8 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAX8AHXNaw8)
...he highlights it at about the 6 minute mark. So yeah, I truthfully admit I watched it on my birthday. Yeah...not gonna stoop to that level next year, though! :exactly
I did watch the 2 Zazu episodes...sort of dumb...and I also watched the episodes with the hyenas. I've mentioned before that the hyenas are my absolute favorite characters from The Lion King, and quite probably my favorite characters in animation outside of LBT (my favorite children's show, naturally ;) ). And I thought they were all pretty funny, particualrly "Can't take a yoke" (seriously, I thought they were gonna try the old tar monster gag on the ostrich in that one! :lol ). And I really wonder why on earth they didn't get their own show. I would like, totally watch that. :exactly Personally, I like to think it was the lack of them getting their own shorts in the later seasons that caused the series to discontinue. :lol
-
Hm, let see...
Bear in the Big Blue House (my all-time favorite children's program!)
Barney and Friends (don't throw tomatoes...don't throw tomatoes...)
The Wiggles
Sesame Street
Arthur (how ridiculous...it's still running after all these years!)
Blue's Clues
Dragon Tales
The Berenstain Bears
PB&J Otter (enough with the noodle dancing, it does nothing whatsoever!)
Thomas and Friends (not anymore, even though I'm autistic)
SpongeBob SquarePants (obviously)
Rugrats (occasionally)
Garfield and Friends
Looney Tunes (of course!)
The Book of Pooh (and other Pooh-related shows and movies)
Hanna-Barbera cartoons
...and many, many more! I might edit later.
-
Wait, when you guys say Arthur is still running, do you mean they're still having new episodes?
As for kids shows I watch, My Little Pony Friendship is Magic and...I guess The Legend of Korra if that counts.
-
Gargoyles is probably my all-time favorite.
-
Wait, when you guys say Arthur is still running, do you mean they're still having new episodes?
Yeppers!
-
I remember when I was very young I had some shows I liked, some kid's type shows, though most of them you've likely never heard of. Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, Captain Kangaroo, Electric Company. The Captain Guss Show (showed Popeye cartoons).
For regular cartoons I liked a lot of them. Scooby Doo and others. The Tarzan Cartoon was very well written I thought.
Loony Tunes, Various Hanna barberra & flimation cartoons, and others to many to name.
Not counting kid's shows & cartoons I've liked after my childhood of course.
-
Seeing as it's been about 5 years since I've posted here...LOL...I do have some additions.
1. My Little Pony Friendship is Magic
2. Legend of Korra
3. Avatar the Last Air Bender
That's it for now. But maybe one day in the future I'll have more "kid" shows I like. I don't know. I just don't like kid shows anymore. I'm more of an anime guy.
-
Kids shows that I really liked when I was little.
Arthur
Bill Nigh the Science Guy
The Magic School bus
-
^ I can never resist watching Bill Nigh when it comes on. NEVER.
-
Wait, when you guys say Arthur is still running, do you mean they're still having new episodes?
Yeppers!
I guess the saying isn't completely true: Some things do last forever.
-
^ I can never resist watching Bill Nigh when it comes on. NEVER.
Me neither! I miss watching it in middle school!
-
where does it come on now? I haven't seen it in a long time.
-
where does it come on now? I haven't seen it in a long time.
Find it on video if you're lucky, otherwise...not sure.
-
Gargoyles is probably my all-time favorite.
I was a total nutter for Brooklyn Gargoyles in third grade.
So...recently I've really been liking Fish Hooks and Gravity Falls. Phenias and Ferb didn't really grab me like those did. It's a creative way to use the same situation over and over again in different ways. I'll watch it if there's nothing else to do, though.
And I did check out Adventure Time. The one thing I can describe it as is "cute". It's simple with some gags that go waaaaaaay over the target audience's heads. Lady Ranicorn only speaks Korean and according to some of the translations, there are definitely implications that she was intimate with Jake more than once. Oh man, the things they've got away with :lol . But other than that..."cute". Oh, and the Ice King's little "issues".
As for what I enjoyed as a kid...most of what was on PBS in the 90's/early 2000's. Zoom, Dragon Tales, Arthur, effin CYBERCHASE! Cyberchase was awesome. Christopher Lloyd AND Gilbert Godfried as major characters--total win.
-
Yeah, I really enjoyed Cyberchase during it's first season in 2002. It taught me math! :yes
-
Moomins 1973 and 1979 including FiM.
Adventure Time too.
-
Bill Nye the Science Guy
The Magic School Bus
Are You Afraid of the Dark?
Goosebumps
An assortment of cartoons from Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network from the 80s and 90s.
-

I think you may be underestimating what the target audience actually is, though... it wasn't meant for little kids, hence why it airs around 7-8 PM, along with Regular Show (which has even more blatant innuendo than AT). I love it to death, but it's definitely not something I'd let a second-grader watch, if I had kids. I'd rank it close to Invader Zim (one of my other favorites) in terms of general audience... maybe not quite that high, but roughly in that range.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars is my other current favorite (although I might not consider that a "cartoon" per se). Those are two of the three reasons I turn the TV on these days--the other being for video games.
I used to watch SatAM all the time... practically all my best friend and I ever talked about was Sonic (that and Dinotopia). It's a bit cheesier than I remember, though, now that I have a few DVDs and can watch them again. For some reason when they used to get aired on TV, they cut out any of the parts with Sonic singing. Erm...? :p
I loved Rugrats, and still watch it occasionally if I can find the original series... that and Batman: The Animated Series. Hey Arnold was a great show, too. I especially liked how they had their own urban legends and such, those always seemed like the funnest episodes. Code Lyoko was also awesome, as were Teen Titans.
Other than that I haven't watched cartoons much, since I was maybe six or seven? Not a lot of shows can hold my interest for a full half-hour.
