It's Stroopwafel! It's a bear I wanted to be a star in one of my youtube movies. Stroopwafel is his name and he's just one of the many bears I had on top of my wardrobe :p

I first watched land before time when I was 3, at christmas evening with my family.

I owned the VHS of lbt 4 myself, and loved watching all 6 movies at my cousin's house!

I remember seeing a commercial on TV about land before time 8!

I got back into it december 2007 :)

You're a very nice person, and I'm sure the whole forum agrees. For someone who is pleasent in virtually all of her forum posts, do you ever type out a response that wasn't how you actually feel? As in, you were nice even though you weren't actually having warm and fuzzy feelings behind the computer?

Not that I know of, no.

You will find some posts of me being irritated or frustrated. I usually type the way I would respond to things in real life. The only person who can tell you about that is Action9000(so far anyway) since we basically had to live together for a month :p

If a post seems friendly or helpful, it's not because I feel forced to. :)

Edit: Not on the forum anyway. I know I have done that what you mentioned to one person in particular, but only over MSN. I'd like to apologize if he ever reads this.

Hmmm I'll give this a try. Although my question consists of two parts.

Since you are a Lion King fan, do you prefer the original movie or do you like Simba's Pride more?

Also, do you have a preference of a character from either movie and if so whom?

Title: Ask Mumbling
Post by: Mumbling on August 16, 2009, 02:13:39 PM
Okay.. Well... Let's see this.

As I said in an MSN conversation with a friend a couple of days ago, I like the lion king and the lion king 2 on an equal level. To me they both have a wonderful story, even if the storyline is quite different.

As for preference of character, yes I do. I honestly love Kovu's character. He's a honest character even though he gets trained to be evil. I actually find him kind of attractive in some way(as far as attraction to images can go). :)

When did I get feelings for him... That same day?  :oops

Nope. We do other stuff to get money for our club. We sell birdfood in the winter and we sell random stuff at the start of the year.

I like most of failblog's pictures for example. I don't know.

I'm afaid all my questions are Lion King related ones.  (well with the exception of the last one).

When did you first become a fan of the movies?
Since Kovu is your favourite character, is that the adult version or the cub version, or both?:)
If there is a favourite Lion King song, which is it?  Or do you like them all?

How's your cat?

1. I liked it as a kid, we rented it often from the library. I got back into it 2007, don't remember exactly when, but I do remember buying a kovu and kiara cap cus i saw one :p
2. Both. :D
3. I love them all. Depending on the mood I'm in I might or might not like one more over the others :)

My cat's doing pretty good. You can hardly notice him getting old except for a couple of grey hairs sometimes :p :)

Historically that "new boyfriend" John Rolfe did exist, so strictly speaking it was not "them" ruining it :p
Apart from his existing there is not much historical correctness about this movie (or the original one).

I've had several 'whoops' moments which I don't mind mentioning :P:

When I was 14 a friend of mine accidently threw over a trash can in the centre of the school cafeteria, she then pointed at me and pretty much everyone in there started laughing   :lol

I've also had a day at highschool in which I was so tired early, that I just got dressed in the dark, hopped on my bike and went to school. It was in the middle of winter, so it only got light around 8:30am. Only when I arrived at school I realized I had put on two different shoes... They felt the same!  :oops  (I've also had several mismatchings of socks in my life)

As for more recently, I was on the bus with some classmates and we were talking about a girl in my class who just got out of the bus. At least, that's what I thought we were talking about. My friend said "That's the type who would be really pretty if you remove the glasses and the moustache", to which I replied "yes, but her profile picture on facebook is rather pretty". You can imagine their reaction when they figured out I was thinking of someone else, since they were apparently talking about some guy standing outside :!

There are probably many more, but these are just some I can think of ;)

Difficult! There are very few things in this world that I hate in the hardest sense of the word, and I don't want to name human beings... So I'll try to go for something else.

I think the thing I hate the most is when people deliberately make others feel bad. When those who do that don't even profit from it themselves, why would you do that? This can go from raging gamers who are blaming everyone but themselves (making others feel bad) to the bombs exploding at the Boston marathon. There is absolutely no reason to harm others for no particular reason, and I hate it, with a passion.

I'm usually pretty bad at procrastinating, I can easily do something last-minute. However! If I know there's a lot at stake and I don't want to lose anything, I will start decently on time. So yeah, it kind of depends on the situation, but usually I could say 'very high'  :lol

Oh, you've played the video game? As have I (and completed it six times already :p ). Having played the game and watched the movie, I can tell you that the cutscenes in the game are significantly reduced versions of their respective scenes in the movie, so expect to see some major differences here and there once you do get around to watching the movie.

If you don't mind, I'd like to ask about your thoughts on the game. Have you completed the entire game (not just finished all levels, but 100% completion)? Who is your favorite character(s)? Which level is your favorite? Which bits of dialogue did you like or find really funny?

Sadly enough I haven't. The game decided to keep on crashing for me after the Wild West scene :( Perhaps they fixed that bug by now and I might try to play it again at some later point, but for now I've decided it's not worth my time going back into. It always crashed at the end of the level so i could never progress.

That said I haven't really played as another character than the main guy. Maybe after I watch the movie I feel the need to play the game again, haha. I just love LEGO games so I can see myself playing it again hoping that it is fixed.

None in particular, really. I mostly listen to classic rock and pop from the 70's, 80's and sometimes 90's. There are some modern songs in the same style that I like as well, but no band that jumps out of there. Perhaps the one I listen most to is Queen.

As for pet peeves... Sometimes I think I express opinions too quickly and I wish I had kept my mouth shut. Then again I'm already a rather quiet person, so maybe that's a good thing haha. I can also start nerding out about games or books that I like and I think that scares people off sometimes :P:

Woops, ignored this question for almost 4 years... Sorry!

Hmm tough! I wouldn't say I have a favorite, as my interests are pretty broad and I generally don't quickly have a very positive or negative opinion on people. As for music... Bon Jovi? Michael Jackson? Cyndi Lauper, maybe? I mostly prefer to listen to a big mix of artists, though the genre is generally pop/rock.

Actors and actresses... I've been watching a bunch of Star Trek lately, so: Patrick Stewart, Brent Spiner, Terry Farrell, Andrew Robinson :D

Read any good books this year to recommend? I'm a big book nerd.  :lol
Title: Re: Ask Mumbling
Post by: Mumbling on April 14, 2019, 08:43:24 AM
Let's see... According to Goodreads (which I try to update regularly) I've read 7 books the past year:
- Animal Farm. Just finished this today, actually. A classic that I can recommend to anyone.
- Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch. Yes, that's the title :P If you like fantasy, different takes on religion, and/or comedy, give this one a shot. It's also currently being made into a TV show, so double worth reading it now.
- Dune. Just read the first book. Since it was published in the 60s, the language is a bit archaic at times and can be difficult to follow. However I am glad to have read one of the early works of fantasy and am curious about the new movie remake.
- We Are Legion (We Are Bob), For We Are Many, and All These Worlds. This is a sci-fi series that starts in modern day times and then fast forwards some hundred years into the future. Absolutely loved this so much more than I anticipated and am really hoping that the author has enough inspiration left to create some more in the series. It helps to have a good understanding of pop-culture, and specifically Star Trek, for this one, though I think it is still enjoyable without.
- Ready Player One. Read this before the movie came out. Loved all references to video games and 80s pop culture. The movie was a major disappointment though. Probably best to see them as two separate entities based on the same idea.

So that's what I read 'recently'. Planning on taking on Brave New World soon. I can really recommend the Bobiverse books, and can't wait for more to be released in that series.

That's a good question. I'm a big Disney fan, and they have many movies you could wake me up for in the middle of the night. Checking my modest collection of DVDs, that would either have to be the first Pokémon movie or the Lion King. Guess some things never change.

Favourite season of the year?
This is tricky because weather is different for everyone... But I'm a big fan of summer in the Netherlands. Generally very moderate temperatures (around 25 C, with some days in the low 30s as a max), which allow me to walk around in a T-shirt. My clothing in winter and most other seasons always feel too bulky :PCera

What are some small things that make your day better?
Coming home and finding that some chores are already done. Talking to good friends. Seeing people put their trash in a bin rather than on the ground. Catching a shiny Pokémon in Pokémon GO  :p

No, I'm not really into writing ^^

What piece of entertainment do you wish you could erase from your mind so that you could experience for the first time again?

The Harry Potter series! I grew up reading those books and started watching the movies as they came out. I'd love to re-imagine the characters without knowing what their actors look like, much like I did when I was younger.

Teleport, definitely. It's probably for the best that you can't see what is on someone else's mind ;)

Recently... Ready Player One comes to mind. A good movie, but so completely different from the book that I was let down quite a bit. Same goes for Ender's Game.

*checks IMDB list*

There are some other non-memorable movies on there, but nothing that let me down. Dangerous to read the books before a movie comes out ;)

So many questions! :D

Any TV shows you're currently watching?
Just finished House M.D. and Travelers last month.
Currently ongoing... Game of Thrones, Star Trek Deep Space 9
Looking forward to a new season of Doctor Who, and the Umbrella Academy. Also Good Omens.

What do you NOT like about each main character of The Land Before Time?
Each one? I'm going to go with the main five as I am not too familiar with the others.
Littlefoot: Always thinks he's right... And he usually is. But you know, give in every once in a while ;)
Cera: Too proud for her own good.
Ducky: Too gullible.
Petrie: Hmm... This one's tough! Perhaps that he likes his somewhat evil uncle a tad too much?
Spike: ...

Would you rather be able to control fire or water?
I think water would be the better choice here. Fire is mostly used for destruction, while water has many other purposes.

What would your ideal vacation retreat be?
A small cabin near a lake/forest, close to some mountains.

What’s the saddest scene in a movie or TV series?
The more shows/movies I watch, the less I feel like there are favorites/top moments. Classics like Mufasa's death in The Lion King and of course Littlefoot's mother in animated movies will always have a lot of impact. Also moments of saying goodbye forever, such as the final scene of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and parting ways between a companion and the Doctor in Doctor Who. But again, I don't think there is such a thing as saddest moment, just a bunch of sad moments that make me bawl like a baby.

Is there a nickname in real life that people ever refer to you by?
Yep! Somehow, my colleagues bastardized my last name and now call me Kuppie ('Cuppy')  :PCera

What would be your spirit animal?
According to Pottermore, my patronus is a wild boar... Does that count?  :bestsharptooth

Really depends on my mood! I like Queen, Muse, Billy Joel. Mostly classic rock stuff :)

Interesting! I'd like to make something properly educative. To stick with the times, I'd like to exhibit on climate change and the way it affects the world.

Not personally, but he is on the GoF Discord chat.

If it's limited to the Harry Potter universe... Wingardium leviosa sounds like an excellent spell to help out with certain tasks without breaking your back over it :D

No pets here. Back when I lived with my parents, we had a black cat and a golden retriever. I'd like to have a cat again, but have no concrete plans of getting one right now.

I'd love to live near mountains and lots of nature. Some cabin in the woods maybe  :^^spike

I can swim! We get taught at a young age due to the large amounts of water in this country. I don't particularly enjoy the activity though, but that goes for most sports stuff.

Do you consider yourself more of an introvert or an extrovert?

I consider myself an introvert, as I am often apprehensive about meeting new people or forcing myself into a situation with many others. However I do enjoy being among friends and family, so I could be seen as more extrovert by others. Guess I am somewhat in between.

What is your least and most favorite color?

As I've grown older I don't have many real favorites left, but I am very much attached to the color blue. Most stuff in my house is blue and blue furniture/clothing will always catch my eye first. I like most shades of blue, but turquoise especially is lovely. I don't think I have a least favorite color.

I don't have an answer to this one.

I find that the answer to this really depends on where you live. I like Dutch summers since they are generally a pleasant temperature (25 C ish, little rain).

Do you like horror games?
No, I'm quite bad with them. Anything with jump scares is a no-go as they just make me freeze up. I tried my best to finish The Last of Us, for example, but at some point I was simply too afraid to keep moving. I prefer more casual games :)

Post by: Mumbling on February 26, 2021, 12:44:00 PM
Haha I don't think there has ever been a show that I wanted to see cancelled. I never understood the hype for MLP but that was more an issue with the fanbase rather than the show.

One show I was recently disappointed in was Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. I would normally not mind teen flicks, but I really couldn't handle this show haha. Such a disappointment.
Title: Re: Ask Mumbling
Post by: Enchanted-Valley96 on February 26, 2021, 01:44:10 PM
Yeah. I don't get involved with the fan-base of MLP, I really enjoy the show and top voice acting but a fan-base can drag it down. At least it's not Peppa Pig, a show that when it gets cancelled I will throw a party for how monotone the stories and mind-numbing narration is. It's depressing to know it's been going for currently SEVENTEEN YEARS! How does a show like that last over a decade and a half and make England look bad? I don't know but if Peppa Pig gets cancelled than good.

Usually DVDs come with multiple audio tracks on it, so you can pick what language you would like to watch something in. Dubbing only happens for children's shows/movies, so generally we have to rely on subtitles.

Haha, very fair!

So unlike you I did watch all the series so far. I don't have any nostalgia towards any series as I only started watching everything a few years ago, starting with TNG, then TOS and then everything else, in order. Just missing a few of the movies since they are somehow not on Netflix? Anyway.

I think my favorite has to be DS9. It really grew on me over time. The characters are the most genuine I have seen on a Star Trek show and for some reason, even though most of the series takes place in the same location, the plot was extremely interesting. It was also the only show where an episode (S4E2) made me completely bawl my eyes out. It was a random episode, not part of the main plot, and completely caught me off guard haha.

However, that being said, I did enjoy the entire thing immensely. TOS is rather sexist in today's point of view, but it still holds up pretty well. Their love for exploration definitely shines through, and I can see why it inspired a whole generation of fans. TNG is good, great cast and stories. Voyager had a "meh' ending but the story itself is amazing, and Janeway is an awesome captain that I look up to. I was pleasantly surprised by Enterprise (except its theme song lol). Really upset that got cancelled right as it started getting good. Probably some of the most relatable characters on that show. And as for the newer shows (Discovery and Picard), they are aesthetically pleasing, but haven't really "caught" me yet. Hope they can turn that around.

I also once made this giant Shrek out of wood for a weekend event with my girl scout team:

I enjoyed it but it wasn't epic or anything when I first saw it age 4/5.

Ever been to either Amsterdam or The Hauge?

Yes to both! My mother actually lives in Amsterdam, so I frequently go there. The Hague I've been to once to visit our parliament for a day.

No

Which extinct animal would you want as pet, if possible?

Had to think about this for a while. I'm not much into petting animals in general, but I'd love to see a woolly mammoth! :D They just seem really impressive to me.

You mentioned being disappointed by the 14th LBT film when it came out. Why?  :thinking
Title: Re: Ask Mumbling
Post by: Mumbling on April 17, 2021, 01:46:37 PM
I think when I watched it, I wasn't in the right mindset for a new LBT movie. I hope this doesn't sound too pretentious since it isn't meant that way, but it was the first time I watched a LBT movie and really felt it was aimed at younger children. I kinda cringed throughout and didn't give it a fair chance. So that's why, I guess!

As I have generally found sequels to be disappointing, I don't think I'd want to wish those on movies that I really like. Guess I wouldn't mind a Lion King 3 continuing the Kovu and Kiara story :P

Ah, I see. Do you have a least favorite episode of the series and has that opinion ever changed?  :ChomperOhhh
Episode as in the TV Series? I'm afraid I've only seen a couple of those so I don't really have a favorite or least favorite. Flathead has been bothering me to watch the rest so maybe one day I will haha.

Some poems might hit me pretty hard, but in general it is not something I would read in my free time.

Have you ever visited Baarle-Nassau?

Nope! Though it's an interesting town to be sure.

What is your most favorite Pokémon music from any Pokémon city?
Good question. There are a lot of great tracks so that's really hard to decide. Quickly had a listen on youtube, and I guess I like listening to Verdanturf Town, Cianwood City, Geosenge Town, Snowbelle City and Anistar City.

I am generally very easy to please so there's not much out there I don't like. Anything I don't like is because people would bring it up all the time when I have no desire to watch it (e.g. MLP back in the day). But in those cases I never really gave it a shot either.

Hmmm! Not entirely sure. I'd say 6, 7, 8 or 12.

If you had exactly ten minutes to see, how world actually looked in any period of Mesozoic, what exactly would you want to see?
The sheer size of things. If I could, I'd bring my camera and try to capture as much as possible. But in the end just seeing how large certain dinosaurs are would be amazing already.

My answer would be: I would like to see Pixie and Dixie in english, but I did not find good option to get it, or I wanted to see Dink the little dinosaur in Czech, but it took me a while to get some. I found only 4 old VHS on online second-hand store, and it still is less than half of all episodes.

Kovu

Nah, I feel like the current formula works alright for the sequels. I'd almost want to focus on an entirely different character if I had to change anything, so the gang is more of a background crew.

Do you often ride a bike?
Almost every day to commute to work. I don't ride one for fun though, it's just my main mode of transport.

Pretty good actually. My boyfriend is visiting from the States and it's been lovely having him over. We're hanging out with common friends and it's been good not having to focus on work for the first time since last year. I also finally get to work on some bigger things around the house since the weather is decent and I got the time. Still some hiccups every now and then, but for the most part feeling alright and optimistic about the future.

Nice! That sounds super fun, glad things are looking up over with you as well :D For some reason winter always calms down for me, maybe because I'm not feeling the pressure to go be social and live summer/autumn to the fullest, I can just stay indoors and keep warm, haha

What's your favorite video game?
Title: Re: Ask Mumbling
Post by: Mumbling on September 15, 2023, 01:55:55 AM
Indeed! I'm not much good with winter since I basically go into hibernation where I can't do anything since it's so cold, plus I tend to get a good bout of seasonal depression because it is so dark all the time, but I will make it through haha.

Oof, favorite game is a rough question. Kind of depends on my mood and what I feel like in that moment. I'm very nostalgic towards pokemon silver. I feel like stardew valley is a game I can always pick up and enjoy even when I don't feel like playing initially. Those are the two that come to mind right now :)
