BEWARE: SPOILERS

So I just conquered The Great Maze, fought an epic battle alongside Sonic the Hedgehog and defeated Tabuu.

Wow.

Sakurai really outdid himself this time. That was simply epic and I wouldn't mind seeing more. I only have a few characters left to unlock now. As it turns out, I only have Jigglypuff, Wolf and Toon Link left, each which I will unlock via Subspace Emissary. And even so, I still have more things to unlock.

Another freaky thing is, right when I was having trouble with The Great Maze, the Dojo site makes an update about it with a screenshot of the full map. That's rather convenient, no?

I got my copy just today. I have been playing it for the pass ten or so hours. I have unlocked all of the characters except Sonic, Wolf and Toon Link. I also made it to "The Great Maze" in Subspace Emissary. Boy, this level is a pain. I just went an entire circle two times.

Wonderful game so far, and a fitting tribute to the children of the 80's, 90's and early 2000's. Now if only I can get pass the Maze and defeat Tabuu.

If you didn't want the sequels join with the rest of those people that didn't want them, but they are great for me.
It's not like that. Even though I'm a huge fan of the original, I don't hate the sequels at all. I just think many of the ideas used in the sequels could have been used in a television series if made earlier.

But in reality, I guess it's simply a matter of branding. If you think about it, each episode of a television series is basically a sequel to the pilot episode. Once you apply this logic to the Land Before Time series, it's not so bad.

Anyway, LBT 14...

Dear Universal Studios,

Please don't end a series on an odd number that isn't 3... and don't end it on freaking "yellow bellies" either.

Your's truly,
Maruyama and Kuma Kobe

PS: Really, wasn't the original movie good enough on its own? If you really wanted to continue The Land Before Time, make a television series... before you made 12 more movies complete with musical numbers and sharp-tooth chase scenes. But I regress; bring on numer 14, where robots from the future take over the Great Valley and every Land Before Time character in the whole series, plus Sean Connor, join together to fight off the robots.

I read your thoughts about it last night. I think the writers were just lazy. That or they were rushed. I'm sure it would have been a challenge to cram Little Foot's father, the flashback scene, Shorty, the solar eclipse, and the Bestest Friends musical number in such a comparatively short time... let alone any dialogue in the flashback scene, off-screen dialogue between Bron and Little Foot's grandparents, or an appearance of Ali's herd.

Meh, at least the potential is there.

I really don't understand directors sometimes. Even if the final product didn't stay true to Don Bluth's original vision, it still turned out to be a wonderful film. It sparked many sequels, a television series, and a large fanbase. I don't see that for Oliver and Company. Don Bluth should be proud, but alas, he seems reluctant to acknowledge his BEST creation (IMHO). It easily craps all over Rock-A-Doodle and Pebble and the Penguin any day.

I also don't understand critics. So they acknowledge that The Land Before Time was a well animated movie. The dinosaurs were cute, the musical score was epic, the overall atmosphere was still considerably dark... and yet they compare it to a Saturday morning cartoon? Now I was born on the tail-end of the 80's, but Saturday morning cartoons must have been GOOD back then. I'm sure, what with all the 30-minute toy commercials.

I choose Land Before Time 3. I found Hyp and his two friends very unappealing, as was the overall animation quality. I don't know what it was, but the animation was extremely rough, even in comparison to the first and second movie. The songs were no better, but they were never a necessity anyway.

Land Before Time 11 isn't my cup of tea either, but only because of the concept alone. "Tinysauruses"? Running out of ideas now? On the 11th movie, I'm certain. Yeah, I'm sure it would be easier to think up ideas that would do the original movie justice if the producers just took a break and stopped making these sequels every year.

I don't understand the Land Before Time 10 hate. At least it was relevant to the original, but whatever.

1988 Theatrical Release / You Just Burst My (Happy) Bubble Don! :-(

I hope there will be some tribute to the original at least by November. I don't care what Don Bluth says. Throw us anything, at least a "thank you for keepin' it alive" message from anyone involved with the movie's production. So some scenes were cut; that didn't keep the movie from having such a large impact.

I wouldn't mind a new DVD release either, even if it is released a little over the original's 20th Anniversary. Give it some acknowledgement at the very least.
