Anyone here hear about the upcoming animated movie, Wolf? It's about a pack of wolves' struggle for survival at the end of the wolf "war" that nearly wiped out the entire species. It is going to be 2-D, traditional animation. And it's not being animated by a big company like Disney or Universal. No, instead, this is an entirely volunteer-based project. Everyone working on the movie is volunteering. As a result, none of them are being paid, but they enjoy doing it anyway. The movie will probably take longer to be released as well.

They're still looking for help as well. So if anyone here at all is qualified for any of the jobs they ask for (look in Contribute) you could lend a helping hand in this movie. ^^

However does one help? Does it require travel and all that?

From what I've read, no you don't need to travel. If you volunteer for animation, you just need a reliable scanner to be able to participate, for example.

I really want to help, but unfortunately, I don't really qualify for any of the positions. I'm hoping to go to LCCC soon to learn animation so I could apply for the animation position or compositing position.

Well, adobe after effects is complicated, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.  I don't know if I can completely learn it in under 2 weeks though.  Do you know how long those applications will remain available?

Believe it or not, I've had that site in bookmarks for years, but I just haven't checked back recently to see how things are going.  I think in the end, distribution is going to hurt them more than anything.  They have talent.

Who's distributing the film to theaters?  To home video?  Yeah its great to do a film...even greater if a wide audience can actually see it, but independents are largely hurt not being linked to a major distributor.

They're opting for a DVD release.

Big distributors can be great, but, from what I heard, there can be a risk trusting one's own project to a big company like Disney or Universal.

Hey! I remember the animator came on Balto Source and asked us for animators, since the style is like Balto. Sadly, I only have my pencil and paper, so it's a no-go right now....but you all should really do it! Get a head strat on animation...or maybe brushing off old skills.

Have fun and you all have my full support! ^^
